Are you ready to see your sales numbers skyrocket? This is the show for you! We have talked for months about doing a show about the best sales process that we teach in our coaching program. My co-host, John DeLaurier, and I developed this process after many years of trial and error in the roofing business. The point is that a smart guy doesn't learn from his own mistakes but from the mistakes of others. Think of us as your crash test dummies who have been there, done that, and made the mistakes–and now we can teach you how to do it right! Join us to learn more about how your sales process can build a solid foundation for your roofing business to grow and thrive! What you'll hear in this episode: How to build an org chart for your business by asking, “Who does what?” What is your process for selling work, doing work, and keeping score? How John describes the structure of DeLaurier Roofing and how he handles relationships with his subcontractors Why your marketing plan needs to be firmly committed to spending 5% of your total revenue to secure a high lead flow Why your prequalification process is essential to a good lead flow How a good CRM (not a file folder system!) makes everything about your sales process more efficient How a pre-meeting sales sheet helps you pre-sell the job and separate yourself from the competition How to ask open-ended questions at the site meeting to find out from the customer how to make the sale  How an automated appointment confirmation system adds professionalism, allows you to “seed the review,” and adds another level of touch to the sale How to handle the roof inspection, which is the precursor to the proposal Why the follow-up process should include texts, emails, and calls with both manual and automated contacts Resources: Time is running out! "We all gossip. We all listen to gossip. But it is possible, if you're willing to exercise awareness, to begin to discriminate about how and when you do it. Obviously, you can't cut out all conversation about other people, and you don't have to. Instead, you can make your conversations more conscious, more disciplined, more measured. You can contemplate exactly why you sometimes feel compelled to bad-mouth a friend, or to spread a rumor that might cause harm. You can look into the feeling of emptiness that often lurks behind the urge to fill spaces in a conversation with gossip. And you can consider whether one of the greatest fruits of our practice is the ability to remain silent, even when you're dying to share a piece of juicy gossip or justify your dissatisfaction with a friend." - Yoga Journal At the end of the day, our goal is to find the path to compassion versus judgement. Our goal is to be connected to our truth, our happiness, our healing, and our own struggles in order to release judgement and find that compassion for others. That we are all trying our best and we don't always know the first story before the one we've been told. I hope this episode makes you feel better. Because as humans, we are wired to judge. But we can always be more conscious with our conversation, it's a place to start. Sell Me This Pen If you saw the movie The Wolf of Wall Street you'll remember the final scene where Leo, just out of jail and banned from selling stocks, is teaching a group of eager salesmen looking for the “silver bullet” of selling. Leo asks a nervous victim in the front row that classic sales manager question, “Sell Me This Pen”. The movie ends before we get the answer. Today, I show you the right way to answer this question and how it applies to home services sales. The 4 Takeaways: Establish the need and problem by asking questions. Then LISTEN. Provide a solution and get his agreement. Ask if there is an opportunity to expand and up sell the sale. Only after getting his agreement and trust along the way do we ask for the order and close the deal. The question is asked to make you feel uncomfortable. The recession is coming! The recession is coming! That's what you hear on the news every night. Manufacturing is down, property values down, and retail stores filing bankruptcy. But construction is booming, we can't find people to do the work because unemployment is low, and the stock market is at record highs. Recession? What recession? What's going on? It's been over 10 years since the last recession and most of our listeners weren't even in business then. All they know is business is great and it's going to last forever! But the party is coming to an end. It's just that nobody knows when. What have you done to prepare your business to not only survive but position yourself to thrive during a downturn in the economy? Today I'm going to give you 10 simple tips to recession-proof your business and also take advantage of the opportunities when the economy comes back. Show Highlights: Tip No. 1: Be prepared by having a plan. Download my FREE 1-page business plan to simplify your process. This plan asks you the important questions, the ones that really get you to think about what your business is, where you're making your money, what your ideal customer looks like, where's your business going to come from, etc. This will also help you figure out where you want to go with it. If you're looking at retiring in 5 years, that takes some serious planning. If you're a young person starting out, you want to build a business that's sellable, and that can support you in the lifestyle to which you've become accustomed. Tip No. 2: You need to know where you're making your money (residential, commercial, etc) because when things slow down, you're going to want to focus on that niche and bag the rest of it. You want to see what it looks like to have a 20% drop in business. What tends to happen during recessions is a building owner isn't going to want to spend big money to put a new roof on, so they're going to look at repairs (maintenance, coatings, resurfacing). This is where a huge opportunity exists. It is a low cost, low risk, high margins business. If you have a service department, now is the time to get the process down, and consider expanding. Service is a great profit center both inside and outside of a recession. If you do not have a service department, it might be time to consider one. Check out the Show Notes for a link to my past podcast with Greg Hayne on How To Start An Extremely Profitable Service Department! Tip No. 3: Cash! Have a lot of cash on hand to get you through a lean period to cover your overhead. Having a good amount of working capital solves a lot of problems. It will also be useful in case of opportunities present themselves. Collect your money on accounts receivables. If you aren't in the practice of doing this regularly, you need to start getting a good process put in place. This is how you make your profits, and where your cash is going to come from. When things slow down, people are slow to pay, so you need a way to stay on top of this. Check out the Show Notes for a link to my past podcast with Thea Dudley on 5 Reasons You May Have Cash Flow Problems! Check out the Show Notes for a link to my past podcast with Alex Barthet on How To Get Paid! Tip No. 4: Cut the fat! What expenses do you currently have that you can cut back on? Do it now so it isn't so painful later. Tip No. 5: Have your sales process down. When things slow down, there will be fewer opportunities, so you need to have a properly trained sales force that can go out there and sell for a higher price so that you can get your margins. Tip No. 6: Know your numbers. The number one reason contractors go out of business is because they don't charge enough money for their services. This is because they don't understand the costs of doing business. When the market turns, you'll have to be more competitive, and you can only do that if you understand your costs. You need a good reporting system.s, Tip No. 7: Have a good CRM set up to track your team, leads, jobs, and scheduling. Quick Tip: A good way to rustle up some business that you may not have thought of is dead leads! A simple way to bring those leads back to life is to send an email with the subject line, “Are you still looking to re-roof your home in (City)?” In the body of the email, just state “Let me know.” Include your contact information, your signature, and that's it! Send to all your dead leads! Tip No. 8: Make sure your website is fully optimized to attract visitors and to convert them, building trust as you go, into an actual lead. Then convert the leads into sales. Tip No. 9: Tips for your website: Establish yourself as an expert. It has to be fast and look great on a mobile device. Have the button on your website that they can click to call you. Don't use stock photos. Show photos of your guys and your equipment. Have a good “About” page. Include your photo and a short welcome video. Tip No. 10: Make sure that you're getting reviews. Make it an easy system by asking for a review upon completion of a project and making it a part of your sales process. Bonus Tips: 11) Get with your bank and set up a credit line. 12) Be sure you're taking your discounts with vendors. 13) Don't cut your marketing; increase it. You want repeat business and referral business. 14) Put out a newsletter to keep your name out in front of everyone. Resources: Time is running out! A winning sales process is a MUST to have a profitable roofing business. Many contractors are seeing a drop in profit as the US economy slows down. Whether your sales are trending upward or going in the other direction, there are always tweaks that can take you to the next level. Join us to learn about a winning sales process!   My co-host, John DeLaurier, recently attended the Roofing Insights Retreat with his family on Lake Superior in the snowy north. He shares his takeaways from the retreat, along with shared concerns from other roofing contractors about trends in the economy. While some roofing contractors are crushing it right now, many saw a dip in 2022 profit margins, close rates, and total revenue. Another common challenge for contractors is finding a balance between using new technology and maintaining in-person contact with the customer.     What you'll hear in this episode: John's perspective on margins, price ceilings, and customer experience Why the gross profit margin is the main KPI for every job–and how to figure it Possible issues that lead to profit margin problems Questions to ask about your sales process: Am I selling correctly? Am I priced too high? I'm so excited to bring you this interview today. Rick Dutmer is my old business coach that helped me build my roofing company over the course of thirty years into an extremely profitable business so that I was later able to successfully exit and do the things that I wanted to do in life. When I first hired Rick, I was really struggling and wearing all the hats in the business. I knew there was a better way, and Rick was the one that helped guide me through it all, and it started with building a business plan that set me up with a saleable business. Today you'll hear all about how to build a profitable business that will support you and your family with a great lifestyle, how to build a valuable business that you can sell when you're ready to retire, and so much more. What Rick did for my roofing business, I can do for yours. Have you downloaded my FREE 1-Page Business Plan, yet? What you'll hear in this episode: Rick shares how his business background has helped contractors improve their own businesses. Rick provides an overview of the process he used in helping Dave build his business plan. While building your business up, always be thinking about the horizon! This is when business goals transition to more of a business/personal goal. You have a strategy for growing your business and for growing your people. What's your strategy for exiting? Rick addresses the main reason that contractors go out of business. “Profit thrills, volume kills” Building a business that has saleable value depends on your goals. You must have a strong team that will continue the business beyond you or your generation. Rick's recommendations around selling if/when you decide to exit. Roll-ups: the good, the bad, and the ugly. In order to grow a solid and profitable roofing business, you're going to need salespeople that can get out there and produce for you. My guest today is Adam Bensman, an expert when it comes to helping salespeople and sales teams reach peak performance. Adam is also known as The Roof Strategist, and he has a podcast with the same name and a YouTube channel, as well. On today's show, we'll be talking about where to find the right kinds of salespeople, how to attract them, and what it takes to build a team of A-players. Listen in, I think you're going to find this conversation very helpful! What You'll Hear in This Episode: Consider your goals, as Adam explains. What the average sales should be per rep, per year, conservatively, according to Adam. Before you begin hiring, you need a clear plan for what that salesperson will be responsible for. Adam discusses the options for paying your salespeople. Financial models must be run to maintain your profitability and your financial health in order to stay in business, serve customers, and grow. Have transparency with your team on when and how they will get paid. Adam details how to find great salespeople and the common mistakes made in the hiring process. Adam shares how he breaks down training into three categories. Most sales reps waste 80% of their time because they were never shown the most effective and most profitable way to sell by following a proven system. Accountability is necessary for managing the team for the retention of performance. Ideas for having great sales meetings. Thinking fast on your feet is the most valuable skill in sales. Unlocking the Gifts in Those We Lead with Stacey Ferguson

Ready to Lead

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 8, 2021 38:38

One of our roles as leaders is to identify and unlock people's gifts. Today's guest tells us how.   Unlocking people's gifts presupposes that we believe everyone has gifts to unlock. Stacey Ferguson, Digital Director at Time's Up, believes they do, and host Jeff Mask wholeheartedly agrees. In today's energizing episode, the two of them sit down for a fun and enlightening chat about bringing out the very best in the people you're leading.   Know What You Want and Go After It Stacey's story begins with her thinking she knew what she wanted in life, getting it, then realizing it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. She dreamed of being a big entertainment lawyer and landed an “amazing” job with a big firm that represented artists. Turns out, at the end of the day, it was just a lot of contracts/paperwork and long days and weekends.    One night she was working late; she was 8 months pregnant and hungry; and she took a brief to this guy in his office. He looked up at her, like he was seeing her for the first time, even though she'd been in and out of his office all day, busting her butt for 12 hours straight.    “Have you eaten today?” he asked, almost as an afterthought, and she thought to herself, “What am I doing here?”   She immediately started looking for another job. She says she could have been more courageous and quit on the spot, but started quietly applying at other places. She also asked the managing director of the firm if she could switch to a department with more reasonable hours. He said sure.   Then another employment opportunity came through with the Federal Trade Commission. Her director was actually happy for her, a reaction she wasn't expecting. This experience taught her that it's always best to go with your gut.    Why We Suppress Our Gifts Once Stacey had more free time, she was able to start a blog. That's where she found her voice and developed an online community. She started creating. She started a blogging conference for women of color. Everything took off and exploded from there.   Jeff recognized in her story that she figured out what she wanted, had the courage to follow through, and going down that path herself has allowed her to authentically unlock the gifts of others. Those are the steps we need to take in order to let the gifts we have within us breathe. Fear and insecurity and self-doubt are what suppress the divine genius within us. It comes in all shapes and sizes. We all have something amazing inside, but those loud voices can suppress what we know we can create or do.    As Stacey built this community of bloggers, she realized that being a leader was about so much more than her. It's about other people. The greatest leaders aren't the ones who just do great things themselves; they're the ones who inspire others to greatness.   Identifying and Unlocking Gifts in Others Everybody really does have a gift. But a lot of times they don't see it. It's buried. You have to help them comb through the junk to get to the gift. One way to figure out what your gift is: ask some of these questions. What do you enjoy doing? What do people come to you for? What feels organic and natural to you? What can you do as a no-brainer in your sleep?   Maybe you make the best cupcakes. Maybe your friends ask you to plan their trip. Maybe you don't see the value in it; you don't think it's special. A thousand other people make cupcakes. Everyone has that thing, but they take it for granted. You're unique; you're different; you have to bring your full self to whatever it is you're doing.   When you look into someone's soul, see the gift, highlight the gift, and speak to that person, it's so fascinating to hear their response. “Oh, doesn't everyone do this?” We're wired to assume that, if something is going to have massive value, it should be really hard. Sometimes that's the case, but not always. When something is natural/intuitive to us, we don't see it for all it is.   Stacey recommends to people who are stuck to gather the people close to them and ask, What do you all think I'm good at? A lot of them will have the same answer. Do an informal focus group with people who know you well. It's easier to see gifts in others than in ourselves.   Jeff once had a professor who encouraged her students to look at different facets of their lives and pay attention to the patterns. Look for words. Do word clouds. If you're wondering about your own gifts and the gifts of those you lead, this can be a cool team-building exercise. You want to recognize gifts and leverage them, so people can flex them in a healthy way.   How Unlocking Gifts Energizes Your Workplace Stacey read an article years ago about Oprah and how she tries to always be “in flow.” Once Stacey began to discover her gifts and live them out, she felt that flow. And that flow can “overflow” into the workplace. When you unlock the gifts in the people you lead, work is no longer stressful and friction-filled.    When we can help people figure out what they do well, then align the work around those gifts, they are fired up. They are so excited and energized instead of completely drained. We have to help the people we're developing find the place where they do magical work.    Stacey says that, when you're miserable, treat that as your spirit saying, “this isn't the right place for you.” There are opportunities where you currently are to flex a muscle, get better at something. If you don't love your job, treat it as your first investor. Do what you love on the side, and build that up to a place where you can make that transition.   Jeff says to think of the lives of people we're working with. We have such an awesome opportunity to help them flourish and to feel valued and seen and heard because they're doing what they're born to do. We can do it if we look for it. Don't just forge ahead, focused only on projects. We can still get projects done, but in a way that's harmonious, in flow, and works with people's gifts.    Take a quiet moment to think through: Do I believe that everyone I'm leading has gifts inside of them inherent to who they are? If I do believe that, do I know what they are? If I do know what they are, am I helping them leverage them? If I'm not, am I trying to figure it out? And do I know what my own gifts are?   When you unlock your gifts and others' gifts, work becomes way more meaningful, in flow, powerful, productive, and ultimately? The bottom line of your business improves dramatically.    Richard and Jeff want to hear from YOU. Was something in today's episode a big aha moment for you? Did you try a gift-unlocking exercise? Not to mention there are still some other important things I haven't gotten to finish yet. With a bitter-sweetness in my soul, I would like to announce that I will be finishing up my gaming channel (s) for the time being starting on October 16 (a week from today). That venture has blessed my life immeasurably but as far as my future goes I think the podcast deserves WAY more time investment. The best is yet to come, that's for sure.I also have been working on an interview I recorded recently but it still is not ready to upload. My process with editing those needs to change as I have recently changed the platform I use to record them and that is a bridge I have yet to cross (even though I really need to soon!)So yeah it's been a bit frustrating... at least you guys get an episode breaking it down. I hope that it is helpful for you. :)

You can't just chatter about patience. If patience moderates our sorrows, then it's ultimately a deeper spiritual virtue that can't be instrumentalized to feel better—it's more deeply connected to a joy and hope that recognizes to what and to whom we are in demand, to whom we're responsible, brings closer attention to the present moment, and acknowledges our limitations and lack of control. In this episode, Ryan McAnnally-Linz and Evan Rosa review and reflect on the six episodes that made up our series on patience: why it's so hard, what's good about it, and how we might cultivate it.These six episodes explored patience in its theological, ethical, and psychological context, offering cultural and social diagnosis of our modern predicament with patience, defining the virtue in its divine and human contexts, and then considering the practical cultivation of patience as a way of life. This series featured interviews with Andrew Root (Luther Seminary), Kathryn Tanner (Yale Divinity School), Paul Dafydd Jones (University of Virginia), Adam Eitel (Yale Divinity School), Sarah Schnitker (Baylor University), and Tish Harrison Warren (priest, author, and New York Times columnist).Show NotesModerating sorrowsJames 5:7: "Be patient therefore beloved until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts. For the coming of the Lord is near."The patient way to make a s'moreAn unexpected s'mores tutorialKairos vs Chronos: often overdone, it applies when you're talking about patience.Time with kids at bed time is incommensurate with work productivity time; comparing the two is a category mistake."One of the things that these conversations about patients had had started to clue me into was the importance of being attuned to the proper activity or thing for which this time is—a less uniform account of time that says for instance, you know, the bedtime routine with my children that time is for that. And so thinking of it as somehow commensurate with work productivity time would be a category mistake of a sort. It would be an unfaithfulness. And so that impatience derives from a lack of attentiveness to the temporal texture of our lives in really relation to God." (Ryan)There can be "patient hurry"Patience is like audio compression: it sets a threshold that is sensitive to the sorrow in our life and moderates or mitigates it.Episode summariesPatience Part 1, Andy Root: "To say that I'm busy is to indicate that I'm in demand."Feeling busy = feeling importantRecognitionAttending to the present, accepting a different form of "being in demand."Patience Part 2, Kathy Tanner: "There's no profit in waiting."Connecting economy to patience."Something has to hold firm in order for you to take risks."Stability and the steadfast love of God.Patience Part 3, Paul Dafydd Jones: "The Psalms of lament and complaint can get, as we know, incredibly dark, incredibly bleak. One operation of divine patience could be that God gives ancient Israel the time and space to accuse God. God is patient with expressions of trauma, expressions of guilt, expressions of deep anguish. And God is so patient with them that they get included in the Canon. Like, some of the most powerful, skeptical, doubtful, angry moments are found in the Psalms. So God's letting be at this moment and letting happen includes within it God's honoring of grief and trauma, such that those moments become part of the scriptures."Psalms of complaintPsychologist Julie Exline on anger with GodAnger with God is consistent with patiencePatience Part 4, Adam Eitel: "Moderating sorrow is not to suppress it or develop an affected callousness or disenchanted, jaded relation to the things one really loves."It's hard to chatter about patience.Patience and joyPatience Part 5, Sarah Schnitker: Identify, Imagine, and SyncNormativity and a truer cognitive reappraisal of one's emotional statePatience Part 6, Tish Harrison Warren: "God intended man to have all good, but in his, God's, time and therefore all disobedience, all sin consists essentially in breaking out of time. Hence the restoration of order by the Son of God had to be the annulment of that premature snatching at knowledge, the beating down of the hand, outstretched toward eternity, the repentant return from a false, swift transfer of eternity to a true, slow confinement in time. Hence the importance of patience in the New Testament, which becomes the basic constituent of Christianity. More central, even the humility, the power to wait, to persevere, to hold out, to endure to the end, not to transcend one's own limitations, not to force issues by playing the hero or the titan, but to practice the virtue that lies beyond heroism: the meekness of the Lamb which is led."Control and Meekness: Meekness is controlled strengthProduction NotesThis podcast featured Ryan McAnnally-Linz and Evan RosaEdited and Produced by Evan RosaHosted by Evan RosaProduction Assistance by Martin Chan & Nathan JowersA Production of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture at Yale Divinity School https://faith.yale.edu/aboutSupport For the Life of the World podcast by giving to the Yale Center for Faith & Culture: https://faith.yale.edu/givePart 1 Show Notes: Andrew RootDoubling down and the temptation to make up for lost timeHartmut Rosa and Modernity as AccelerationAcceleration across three categories: technology, social change, and pace of life"Decay rate” is accelerating—we can sense that things get old and obsolete much faster (e.g., phones, computers)Riding the wave of accelerated social change"We've become enamored with gadgets and time-saving technologies."“Getting more actions within units of time"Multi-taskingExpectations and waiting as an attack on the self"Waiting feels like a moral failure."Give yourself a break; people are under a huge amount of guilt that they're not using their time or curating the self they could have."You're screwing up my flow here, man."When I'm feeling the acceleration of time: “Get the bleep out of my way. But learning how to respond to God's patience, both through forms of waiting, through forms of activity, and sometimes through moments of intemperate resistance is I think at the heart of Christian life.""People should not get in the way of human flourishing ... brought about by the empowering patience of the Holy Spirit. ... What does patience have to do with money? It's much more than timing the market just right. Today is a big day. Kathy Caprino, renowned author, speaker, career, and leadership coach and Sr. Forbes contributor is with me today. Kathy and I have a lot in common when it comes to our innate desire to empower others to be their best self and show up that way every day. That is what we are unpacking today – how to be the most powerful you. I love to discuss shining, but as Kathy accurately points out, before we can shine, we have to break free of the opposite mindset. The opposite of shining is suppression or depression. From a young age, we are taught to suppress. We are raised to be fearful. Whether or not it is well-intended, this crippling mindset will leave our light dimmed and our impact impotent, all out of fear of being embarrassed or losing face. You aren't born with confidence. You gain it by doing the things you don't think you can do. As you live and learn and push beyond your perceived boundaries, your confidence grows. Often, your natural talents – those things you have always been, are the foundation for what will allow you to be fulfilled and add value to other people.  You won't get it on the first try. You have to press beyond the fear of making a mistake sot that you can recognize what makes you happy and adds the most value to others. When you can turn your mess into a message, you will find healing from limiting beliefs and find your center. You can choose who you want to be in the world. Anchor yourself to the core truth you hold dear and know that, while what you do may change, who you are remains true. It sounds simple enough – believe and do better. It takes bravery to step into who you truly are. It takes courage to look openly at what isn't working and be accountable to change it. You have the power to act as an agent of change in your own life and be the author of your own story. Find something every day that restores you and put it on your calendar. Invest in restoration. You are no good to anyone bound by stress. In parting, Kathy has a challenge for you: Right now, for the next ten minutes, take a self-assessment. Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe you are important? And that the world needs you? Now believe it more and ask yourself the following question: “If I truly believe I am important and the world needs me, what will I try next?”. Don't stop until you believe in yourself more than you did when you started. After that, take my power gap survey (listed in the resources below) and start taking practical steps toward living the true you.  Rise. Shine. Impact. Honor who you want to be.. Today's episode is part one of four about what simple living comes down to. It's a series about why we don’t have a simple life, how to determine what simple looks like to you and how to get started. By the way, I'm summarizing my post What Simple Living Really Comes Down To so if you want to dig into the details make sure to head over there once you're finished listening. Do you want to join in a #moms30for30? Read more about them here, see the Instagram hashtag, and message me on Instagram if you want to join in!   What Simple Living Comes Down To When you hear the term "a simple life," what springs to mind? I want to dig into WHAT IS simple living and how to know where your life is simple and where it isn’t. And, by the way, this isn’t all about moving the country, homeschooling and raising chickens. When you hear the term "a simple life" do you imagine a mom hanging laundry on the line and making homemade dinners foraged from her garden while her children read to each other in their screen-free home? This might be an ideal simple life to some, but let’s just bust that myth right now. That's not simple for everyone and YOU get to decide what simple is. What Would Make Your Life Simpler? Pay attention to how you answer this. Simple living comes down to is this one thing: How we manage our resources. Resources Time (your daily schedule, your family calendar, extracurricular activities, commitments, downtime, how do you TRULY spend your time?) Space (in your home, in your yard, in your cupboards, how is your space used?) Money (your regular household budget) Emotional energy (stressors, coping skills, mindfulness, self-awareness, relationships with others, relationship with yourself) Physical energy (running errands, driving people around, exercise, chores, social engagements, how do you fuel your body and how do you use your body?) Resources are those things we only have so much of. They are those things that are also the currency of our daily lives. They allow us to show up, and be, and do. What we crave is called "simple" but really it means we get to USE OUR RESOURCES in the ways we DESIRE TO LIVE. Simple living means removing the distractions and drains of our resources so we apply our resources to the life we truly want. why are we mismanaging our resources? So we can probably all see ways we that we are mismanaging our resources and left with not enough to live the life we want to live. For more information click the link in the show notes.  And take the time right now to join my mail list, and you will receive an invitation and a gift.  Just by texting the word “DREAM” to 216-868 7899.   Our scriptures for this Podcast: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)   “Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Matthew 11:24)   “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.” (Romans 8:28)   Let Us Pray: Gracious Father help us to balance your will with our desired way. Father, you know what’s best.  Now, Lord, we ask that you would merge your way with our desire, then knit them together to form the master plan. And after that, show us the way, and we will be caring to give you the glory, honor, and praise. Amen. Our focus “5 Secrets to Get Everything You Want” Let’s Just admit it to ourselves, we all want it our way, and when we can’t have it our way, then we’ll take OUR WAY. The truth is there are rules to what can and cannot have and to what can be done, and to what can ultimately work.  But I know a God who has all, is all and can do anything but fail.    The sky and beyond is truly out limit. The idea behind the SECRET is the universal principle “law of attraction.” You attract what you think of and what you want. If you are broke right now it is in part because you are thinking about it, you are letting your worries get to you. Isn’t it true that when you wake up on the “wrong side of the bed” everything seems to be going badly for you that day? That is because bad things attract other bad things. If you are in a bad relationship, it is because of your thinking, If you never have the things you desire or want if you have a hard time achieving your goals. Take some time to analyze the why. Use a simple formula Ask yourself the 5 Whys. But it can be used in two different ways. We talk more about this when we discuss this week’s activities for this podcast.  How can you learn how to make this law of attraction work out for you?   The  5 Secrets To Get Everything You Want: Remove all limits Define Your Goals Massive Focused Action Align All of your Resources (Time, Energy, Prayer, Environment, Money) Believe You Can   Remove all limits – remove your inhibitions related to what you are capable of doing, and accomplishing. My rule is that if someone else can do it that I can too. In my early 20’s I found myself in the army in the middle of boot camp. No, I am not joking, in boot camp my first week I was in the mess hall, cleaning dishes, for the celebration meal for the graduating recruits and I was handed a plate from a new graduate, and I remember it so vividly, she said I would not make it. Those same words have motivated me my entire life…. And this example was no different.  Needless to say, I did complete boot camp and ended up in the best physical condition of my life. The secret was I remove the limiting thoughts and did the nearly impossible at least that was I was told.   Define Your Goals - Our goals start with a dream or a vision of how it could be. But this is just wishful thinking until we make it a goal. Use Smart Goals (SMART) Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timed.   Massive Focused Action. The easiest way to take massive action is to take action. Take a look at your resources, but most especially how you spend your time and money. If you have a family, you will need to have a conversation and get buy-in on your goals. Enlist their help, but not their criticism and doubts. Begin to journal, act as if and place positive words of affirmation all around you. Consider recording a statement of affirmation and repeat it, listen to it, make a mission statement for your new goals.   Align All of your Resources (Time, Energy, Prayer, Environment, Money) Then create your plan of action. You can also request access to free training on Decluttering this will help you get started. Click the limit in the show notes.   Believe You Can – Believe you can, and you are halfway there. Utilize Positive Affirmations one of my favorites is “I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:13)     Closing Comments What I have learned to be true, if we don’t do what we have been called to do, it can never happen, if we succumb to our fear it can never happen, if we sit on our dreams and never act on them and turn them into goals and then into accomplishments guess what they will never happen. Today may a vow to yourself to do it scare, knowing that fear means go.   “The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his (her) future by merely changing his (her) attitude.” ~ Oprah Winfrey   Podcast Follow Up Activities: Journal and or Meditate on the Scriptures The 5 Why’s Ask a question, then follow it up with the 5 Why’s (use the template provided) Create your new Affirmations (Post them) Identify your Target Goal and goals. Write out your Goals in the smart format (use the worksheet provided in the shoe notes)   If you’ve been listening to this Free Podcast and have enjoyed it or it is touching you, subscribe, share it with a friend.
