In this powerful episode of The Andrew Parker Show, Andrew tackles one of the most urgent issues facing America today: government bloat. From endless bureaucracy to runaway spending, Andrew breaks down how the government has expanded far beyond its intended role—and why voters decisively responded in the 2024 election. He identifies the four true responsibilities of government—safety, global standing, infrastructure, and a limited safety net—and challenges the idea that government should be "everything to everyone." Andrew also dives into how both political parties have contributed to the problem, why real reform is critical, and how President Trump's bold agenda is reshaping the future. If you're frustrated with government overreach and want a clear, thoughtful breakdown of where the line should be drawn, this is an episode you won't want to miss.Subscribe to our email list at theandrewparkershow.com to stay updated on new episodes, special guests, and more.Text us your questions and thoughts at 952-522-2818.Follow, like, and subscribe on YouTube and your favorite social platforms for more sharp political commentary.Support the showThe Andrew Parker Show - Politics, Israel & The Law. There's a real-world experiment in governance happening that you've probably not heard about. It involves decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). These online collectives are trying to run billion-dollar enterprises using direct democracy and a controversial mechanism known as “liquid democracy”—where you can delegate your vote to anyone, at any time. Are these DAOs and blockchain experiments revolutionizing democracy—or just reinventing the wheel?Political scientist Andrew Hall (Stanford GSB), has been studying these systems to understand if delegated voting increases participation, improves decision-making, or simply creates new forms of power concentration. What happens when participation is low, and decisions are made by a few super-delegates?

Send us a textHello, I'm Richard Wilson, and I'm coming to you from a tax investment conference here in Hawaii. I've been talking with many of my clients, including ultra-wealthy family office managers, and we've had some interesting discussions about what it means now that Donald Trump is going to be the next president. I wanted to share some of those insights with you in this video.I'm not a political expert or an economist, but based on my conversations with family offices, investors, and founders in my network, I want to give you a snapshot of what I'm hearing from them about what we can expect under Trump's presidency. In other words, this is what 80% of the investors I talk to are predicting for the economy and different industries now that Trump has been voted in.What's likely to improve under Trump's presidency: Cannabis, psychedelics, oil and gas, energy, and U.S.-based manufacturing are expected to see growth.Business owners and founders will likely benefit from lower taxes, which will allow them to reinvest more in their businesses and the economy.I also think the real estate market will improve, with less volatility and less risk of a market collapse due to the economic growth that's anticipated. What could face challenges: If Trump lays off a significant portion of federal employees—whether 25%, 50%, or more—it could have an impact on spending, despite severance packages. This could affect the broader economy. There's also concern that Trump's aggressive trade policies and tariffs might lead to inflation. What I'm hearing from investors and business leaders: One point Elon Musk raised, which has come up in several investor conversations, is that the U.S. government has over 400 federal agencies. We've only been around for 200 years, so every year we've created two new government agencies. Musk calls them "brake pedals" that slow down economic growth. Many believe removing these barriers and adding "gas pedals" will lead to more entrepreneurship, more jobs, and better opportunities in the U.S.There's also a lot of hope that Trump's leadership could encourage more entrepreneurial opportunities. However, some investors are concerned about the impact of AI replacing jobs and the potential for mass government layoffs.Other key topics I've been hearing: Big pharma and big food companies are under increasing scrutiny. There's a push for healthier products, with some hoping that we'll see fewer chemicals in our food and more natural ingredients. Many investors are also worried about growing censorship and the potential loss of free speech. Some of the founders I've spoken with switched to supporting Trump because they believe he'll protect our ability to speak freely and explore the truth.I also want to mention that many Republicans who were hesitant to support Trump in the past may now see him as the best option, especially with Elon Musk's support and his principle-based approach to leadership. Even those who don't agree with everything Trump says recognize the importance of supporting policies that will protect free speech and promote economic growth. As an investor community, we do want to encourage business owners and investors to think critically about the potential impacts of these political shifts on their businesses, portfolios, and industries. How should we adjust our strategies and position ourselves moving forward with Trump as president? Thanks for watching,  I look forward to shaking many of your hands at our annual investor summit next month where you can connect with 250+ investors and hear from more ultra-wealthy investors on stage than any other event held anywhere globally in 2024 or 2025. Shoot me a text at (305) 333-1155 if you want to learn more. #trumpeconomy #trump  #inves

Katherine Gehl, co-author of The Politics Industry and Founder of The Institute for Political Innovation, has always asked herself what she needed “to do in order to change the political situation.” “So at first I needed to sell my business,” Katherine tells us. “Then I needed to make the intellectual  case.. And then I needed to try to sell this reform to people. It just went like that.” Today, in 2024, after many years of effort and adaptation, Katherine Gehl's Final Four or Final Five voting initiatives are now poised to be on the ballot in another four states (Nevada, Idaho, Montana and Colorado) having passed in Alaska back in 2020, which then held the first such election in 2022.   Katherine recounts that in the time she's been working on these reforms, “going all the way back to 2013, but really trying to raise money actively since 2015, the reception has changed dramatically.” In this episode, which launches our extended series on 2024 election reform initiatives, we'll learn how non-partisan, competition-based election reform has gained traction among donors, reformers and voters alike. We'll also get a better understanding of how her institute and action fund “catalyze” grassroots leaders in reform-minded states, such the former Idaho Attorney General Jim Jones and Reclam Idaho founder Luke Mayhew.  “The combination of someone like Luke with Jim Jones is a bit of a dream that you could put that together,” Katherine recounts, while also detailing emerging efforts in Colorado and Montana and the second ballot initiative in Nevada this cycle as required by the state constitution.  Will this be the year Final Five Voting moves onto the national stage and transforms the incentives of elected officials in these pathbreaking states?  Tune in to learn more from Katherine Gehl, co-author of The Politics Industry (with Harvard Business School Professor, Michael Porter) and a central catalyst in the nation's growing non-partisan election reform movement.  The Purple Principle is a Fluent Knowledge production. Government reform group calls Pennsylvania legislature "dysfunctional"

If you go to good government group Fair Districts PA's and FixHarrisburg's website – there's a photograph of the Pennsylvania State Capitol with a drawing of a crack down the middle. It represents a state government that the group calls broken. A legislature or lawmakers that make few laws is what Fair Districts blames for what they call Harrisburg's dysfunction. As examples, Fair Districts says that during this legislative session, more than half the bills that passed one chamber unanimously weren't addressed in the other. Only about 7% of bills introduced ever make it to the governor's desk. Carol Kuniholm is the Chair of Fair Districts PA and joined us on The Spark Wednesday,"Pennsylvania is among the few full time legislatures, among the most costly, probably the most costly legislature because they have the third highest base salary for legislators, but also one of the largest legislatures in the country. One of our volunteers is quite sure that it costs $1 million a day to run our state legislature, given what she can discover. And we are in the very, very bottom in terms of states, in terms of bills passed or in terms of percent of bills that are introduced that are enacted." Kuniholm compared Pennsylvania's legislature with Virginia -- another state that has divided government with one party in the majority in one chamber and the other party with the majority in the opposite chamber,"They passed 800 something bills last year while Pennsylvania passed 77. And people were talking about Pennsylvania's got a divided legislature. Virginia also had a divided legislature. The Senate was controlled by one party. The House was controlled by another. They have legislative rules that allow bills to get very fast attention and move quickly. It's not a partisan game. Does the bill have merit? If it does, it gets a vote in committee. If it comes out of committee, automatically scheduled for a vote on the chamber floor. Today's an interesting day. It's Crossover Day in several state legislatures. Crossover Day is the day when legislatures (there are 13 that do this) you have to finish in the first chamber by Crossover Day. And those bills go to the other chamber. And they have to be considered in the other chamber. That guarantees that action takes place on bills that have come out of committee. And it means they are far, far more productive than our state legislature." Kuniholm says Pennsylvania legislative leaders and committee chairs have too much power in deciding which bills are even considered by the full legislature and she said rule changes would solve the problem,"Let the committee have some say in what gets a vote. If it comes out, take the ability of the leader to say what gets a vote on the floor and just move them forward. So simple changes of rules."  Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
