Robin Green is an American writer who has been dizzyingly successful, but she describes herself as a 'clueless girl'. At times, she didn't even realise she could actually write. In the early 1970s when Robin was in her 20s, she had an interview with Rolling Stone magazine's creator and editor Jann Wenner. She initially thought it was for a secretarial role, but instead, he hired her as a writer - and the only woman on the editorial masthead. What followed were Robin's raucous, wild, rock 'n' roll years. She interviewed the likes of David Cassidy, Dennis Hopper and Bobby Kennedy Jr, who she recalls sleeping with on his dorm-room water-bed. After failing to produce a story on him, her time at Rolling Stone ended and Robin began to question her future. It was then that she met the love of her life, an aspiring writer called Mitch. But their relationship fell apart and she spent a decade going from one thing to another.Nearing 40, Robin had an epiphany while watching daytime television and her career as a writer took a dramatic turn. She picked up her pen, and with Mitch, they began writing for the TV show Northern Exposure. They became extraordinarily successful writing partners, winning multiple Emmys, including for their work on The Sopranos - where, once again, Robin was the only woman in the room for most of her time there. When Robin was almost 60, Mitch proposed and now married, they created their own hit show - Blue Bloods.Robin has written a memoir, The Only Girl: My Life and Times on the Masthead of Rolling Stone.Presenter: Asya Fouks Producer: Sarah KendalLives Less Ordinary is a podcast from the BBC World Service that brings you the most incredible true stories from around the world. Each episode a guest shares their most dramatic, moving, personal story. For over 30 years, Robin Green has provided Investment Consultants and DC Advisors with competitive analyses, practice management coaching, client service strategies, and sales consulting. She started her career as a plan sponsor, overseeing retirement plans in the healthcare and manufacturing sectors. After being recruited by Ann Schleck at Deloitte Consulting, she dedicated 11 years to the retirement plan and health benefits industries. Prior to launching her own consulting firm in 2017, she served as Head of Research at Ann Schleck & Co., and then as Senior Vice President at Fi360 where she managed the Fiduciary Score. Throughout 2023 and 2024, Robin collaborated with many of the top 100 DC Advisor practices in the United States to help them benchmark their business against industry standards. This work involved RFP analysis, win/loss assessments, client satisfaction research, client retention strategies, and a competitive review of products and services, as well as coaching on business models and internal processes. Her consulting practice is underpinned by confidential, competitive insights collected from retirement advisors through the 2024 Level Up - DC Advisor Practice Management Benchmarking Study, which engaged 84 DC Specialist Advisors across 319 offices. Robin and her team conducted both qualitative interviews and quantitative research to gain insights into how retirement specialists manage their operations. Fortune 500 Benefit Providers engage Robin and WinMore Plans for ongoing coaching aimed at enhancing RFP responses, strengthening sales relationships, and ultimately securing more business. Robin provides tailored coaching, develops impactful messaging and collateral, refines existing communication, and streamlines processes to enhance efficiency and improve win rates. In this episode, Eric and Robin Green discuss:Making communications client-centricFinding the right cultural fitHaving the right attitude during the search processBenchmarking against industry standards Key Takeaways:Advisors should focus on using "you/your" language in their written communications rather than "we/I/us" to make it more client-centric.Plan sponsors should work with a professional to conduct a thorough advisor evaluation and RFP process to ensure they find the right cultural fit. Both advisors and plan sponsors should be kind and appreciative throughout the advisor search process, even for those not selected.Advisors should learn more about benchmarking their practices against industry standards and strategies so that they could win more business.“The number one reason why I see plan sponsors choose one firm over another, is chemistry.” - Robin GreenConnect with Robin Green:Website: https://winmoreplans.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robingreen/ Connect with Eric Dyson: Website: https://90northllc.com/Phone: 940-248-4800Email: contact@90northllc.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/401kguy/ The information and content of this podcast is general in nature and is provided solely for educational and informational purposes. Welcome to the Lead. Learn. Grow. podcast, where we explore the intersections of busieness, education, technology, and personal growth. I caught up with my friend Paul Mylott, a veteran in higher education and the co-founder behind the innovative AI-driven startup Oblio.  Our conversation dives deep into Paul's journey, the birth of Oblio, and the profound impacts of personalization in education and beyond. Paul Mylott brings over three decades of experience in higher education, having served as a vice president in several institutions. His work primarily focused on the advancement side, but his roles have also covered admissions, giving him a holistic view of the student journey. Paul's latest venture, Oblio, is an AI inbox tool designed to enhance engagement and communication within higher education. Oblio emerged from Paul's realization of the fragmented nature of the student experience in higher education. By combining his insights into behavioral chain philanthropy and the potential of AI, Paul aimed to create a solution that ensures a seamless journey for students from admission through to alumni engagement. Oblio's mission is to increase enrollment and foster a more personalized connection between institutions and their students, ultimately leading to a higher yield of engaged alumni and donors. Leadership Lessons Reflecting on his career and life experiences, Paul emphasizes the importance of aligning personal and organizational goals, the value of mentorship, and the transformative power of personal challenges. His story is a testament to the impact of innovative leadership and the potential of technology to transform traditional industries. Listeners interested in learning more about Oblio or exploring potential collaborations can reach Paul via LinkedIn or directly through his email at paul@oblio.ai. *** You can connect with Robin Green by emailing him at robin.green@sandler.com or connect with him on LinkedIn.  *** You can subscribe to The Huddle, a weekly leadership newsletter, by visiting here.

Buddy Biancalana is one of approximately 1,600 players that have been drafted in the first round since the draft began in 1965. With the weight of expectations, pressure to perform, and the demands of being a professional athlete, Buddy quickly rose through the Kansas City Royals minor league system - from Rookie League to the Major Leagues - in five years.  As a part-time player, Buddy was what the baseball world calls a "good field-no hit" player, playing the demanding shortstop position. Then, late in the 1985 season, Royals manager Dick Howser inserted him in the lineup late in the year, and he played the best baseball of his life. He was a key contributor in helping the Royals win their first World Series.  As he shares in our conversation, the pressure of the World Series was immense. Literally, the entire world was watching. Yet, as you'll hear, Buddy says he was as calm as he'd ever been. And he played flawless defense and hit better than he'd ever hit before. Later, he realized that he'd had an "In the zone" experience.  This experience, along with a childhood incident that Buddy shares in our conversation, led him to begin to study the brain-body connection. Now, as the founder of Zone Motion, he helps athletes and executives have "in the zone" experiences in a more intentional way, rather than by chance.  You can buy Buddy's book, The 7 Secrets of World Class Athletes, here.  *** You can contact Robin Green at robin.green@sandler.com. *** If you like this podcast, you may also like Robin's weekly leadership newsletter, The Huddle. Join the growing number of subscribers (it's free), including leaders from business, education, and athletics. Join me as I speak in a great conversation with Jenn Drummond of Park City, UT. A car accident in 2018 left Jenn awestruck and emboldened. Rescue workers couldn't imagine any scenario where she came out of it alive, but she did. That's when she realized you don't get to choose when you leave this life…but you sure can choose how you live it. Strengthened by this awareness, she set out to live in a more authentic and adventurous way. Inspired to climb a mountain for her birthday, her son raised the stakes by suggesting Mount Everest. Not one to back down from a challenge, she accepted the pursuit. During her training, her coach upped the ante and proposed that she go for a Guinness World Record and become the first woman to climb the 7 second summits. The pursuit matched her desire to live a life of significance, not just success. Today, Jenn is a world record holder who elevates others to master their own summit in life. She's a successful business owner and mom of seven kids who, as you will hear, inspire and brazenly challenge her. She's also an international speaker, author, and host of the "Seek Your Summit" podcast, which focuses on inspiring others to go beyond success to a life of significance. Soaring Child: Thriving with ADHD

On this week's edition of Soaring Child, Robin Green shows us how an ancient Chinese healing technique can help kids with ADHD. Robin is an author, speaker, educator and founder of Pediatric Healing Arts, as well as a pediatric specialist in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.   The unfortunate reality is that kids are getting sicker today instead of healthier. Much of it has to do with unprecedented levels of toxic exposure in our environment including EMFs, poor food quality, and pollution. This affects our kids' ability to get the sleep and nutrients they need, which in turn affects their overall health.   Toxic exposure shows itself behaviorally and emotionally through hyperactivity, aggression, defiant behaviors, and ADHD. So how do you get the nervous system to come back into balance? Acupuncture and acupressure are great ways to restore the flow of energy and re-align the body so those negative behaviors and emotions neutralize.    The healing techniques of acupressure and acupuncture have been around for more than 3,000 years. Applying pressure, or inserting tiny needles at meridian points in the body, helps to restore balance and relieve pain.   For kids with ADHD, acupuncture and acupressure trigger that relaxation response that helps a child get balanced again. These treatments can relieve headaches, regulate the nervous system, and help a child focus. You can also tap or press on the area between the eyebrows to relieve tension and stress in your child. When kids get a little older, pediatric needles are very effective, and kids don't even feel them because they are so tiny. Phototherapy patches can also be helpful.    Finding a doctor who uses an array of these modalities is ideal so treatment can be tailored to your child specifically.     Key Takeaways: [9:14] How acupuncture works  [10:47] Using acupressure on the ear with ear seeds that are like jewelry [17:34] Wave phototherapy patches for kids and how they work [19:03] How families determine what modality is right for their child [20:03] What to look for in an acupuncturist [21:14] Licensing for acupuncturists [21:59] Finding your child's power foods [23:22] When to start treatment [25:07] Avoiding gluten and eating healthy foods     How To Connect With Robin Green: https://www.robinraygreen.com/ https://www.robingreenacupuncture.com/ https://www.acupuncturepediatrics.com/ https://www.healthyseminars.com/bio/robin-ray-green https://www.instagram.com/pediatrichealingarts/?hl=en     Memorable Quotes:  “We're seeing unprecedented levels of toxic exposure, of EMF exposure, which can in even tiny amounts affect the developing brain and affect our children's ability to get a good, deep restful sleep.”   “We're also experiencing dramatic changes in the quality of our food. The food that's supposed to be nourishing our bodies, even when we're eating organic, is just not giving the nutrients we were getting even 20, 30 years ago.”   “Using acupuncture and pressure stimulation is a very gentle, easy way that children can accept that will be very balancing to their nervous system.”   “Ear seeds are a perfect way to stimulate the meridian points, balance the nervous system, and address conditions in a ‘set it and forget it' way.”   “Children's bodies have so much energy because they're growing and developing, so just a tiny amount of stimulation is required to get the desired results. So with those tiny little pediatric needles, we just tap it in and take it out immediately.”   “Before puberty is a really important window where we can have a dramatic transformation in their health and behavior and really change the trajectory of their entire life for the better.”    Dana Kay Resources:   Website - https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/adhdthriveinstitute  Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/adhdthriveinstitute/  YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/ADHDThriveInstitute  LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/74302454/  Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/adhdthriveinstitute/ Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@adhd_thriveinstitute     International Best Selling Book, Thriving with ADHD - https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/book/    Free Reduce ADHD Symptoms Naturally Masterclass - https://info.adhdthriveinstitute.com/25min-webinar-registration   ADHD Parenting Course - https://adhdthrivemethod.com/adhd-thrive-jump-start-parenting-4-adhd    ADHD Thrive Method 4 Kids Program - https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/packages/

Robin also happens to be a former colleague and dear friend of ours. From the very beginning, Robin has charged ahead with a joie de vivre that had her destined for great things. A self-described bulldozer, we see Robin as a woman who drives hard toward her goals, refusing to let obstacles slow her down. But her edges are softened by an unyielding positivity and genuine care for everyone around her. Robin has been an inspiration for both Terra and Alex and an example of how a woman can dominate in a male-dominated industry while staying true to the kind, uplifting person she is straight to her core. We're excited for you to meet Robin so let's get to it! Here is our interview with Robin Green! Music by Jennifer Szakolczay Editing by Brittany Waltmire

A rowdy and vividly dishy memoir by the only woman on the masthead of Rolling Stone Magazine in the 60's. Stories of stalking the Grateful Dead, sparring with Dennis Hopper, scandalizing fans of David Cassidy and sleeping with a Kennedy in his dorm room….just to name a few. But this memoir is recklessly honest about being a young woman in search of her way which makes it powerful & poignant. Robin's story also takes you on her journey to writing for TV (Northern Exposure), writing and producing for 5 years of THE SOPRANOS (she wrote Tony!) and creating Blue Bloods with her husband & writing partner. 5 out of 5 stars

The Emmy hosts were dreadfully boring as was the rest of the show. Guest is Robin Green, author of "The Only Girl". Julia is very nervous about her stand-up routine at Project D&D.

Kris & David are joined by Bruce Mitchell (Pro Wrestling Torch) & Scott Passner for this special Patreon $100.00 requested show discussing the week that was August 22-28, 1989. Scott tells us why he picked this week in particular and why he wanted Bruce as a guest before we delve into the NWA and how they followed up the debacle from the week before where they aired the wrong episode of World Championship Wrestling; plus Bruce tells some great Chris Cruise stories and we also talk about Rick Steiner's date with Robin Green. We then discuss Koji Kitao showing up at ringside for New Japan's show at Korakuen Hall, Lioness Asuka retiring for the first time, UWA in Mexico with loaded cards, Eric Embry running wild in Dallas, and SummerSlam '89.
