This year was my 15th in business. Over this time my business has evolved and grown significantly. But looking back, I think it's perhaps myself who has grown, and therefore my business along with me. I remember my ‘Why' when I started, was simply to be able to ‘keep my hand in' while I took a career break to raise my 5-month-old baby. That baby is about to turn 16 and has recently started her own career in finance! As we come to the end of the year, I started reflecting on how my year has gone. Which prompted me to also start reflecting on my biggest lessons from the last 15 years. It's that time of the year when our thoughts start to move to what we want to achieve in our business in the year ahead. But before we do, there is a lot of power in reflecting on just how far we've come in the current year. What we've learned and what we've achieved. It's the first step that I outlined in the Planisodes. Despite this, last week I caught myself reflecting on how fast the year has gone this year. My first instinct was to remind myself of all the things I didn't achieve, or that I still have to do. Thankfully, I caught myself in time and instead reflected on all the things that I have achieved. In just a few minutes I went from feeling down and anxious to feeling actually quite proud! The Covid pandemic brought about so much change in the world. People are no longer talking to one another. When it comes to sales, if people are not talking, sales are not happening.
