I mean, who takes rolls of plastic wrap and a bundle marked “KILL TOOLS” on vacation? After sorting through the damning evidence, Twin Peak's sheriff Dave Gonzalez was quoted as saying, “Don't get used to Rory being on this stupid podcast for much longer.” Anyway, to kill time until Rory's inevitable arrest, the gang discusses, “TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME!”

Welcome to the second HOLE of SEASON TWO. Today's Holes: Improvised Shakespeare Waiting for Godot, Guffman, Lefty, etc. Unintentionally Scary Children's T.V. Shows BIT player Amber takes us on a journey that opens on Improvised Shakespeare and culminates with Twin Peak's pain and suffering symbol - creamed corn. Who knew? Flannery confesses her love for Beckett's Waiting for Godot, which triggers Luke to recall a Tempest performance with only three actors. This leads to a slightly morbid tale of Amber's grandmother saying goodbye from her hospice bed but then asking for a tuna fish sandwich. Finally, Luke tries to convey that the early muppets were very "weird," triggering Thea's memories of a dark and horrifying Norwegian children's T.V. show (Pompel og Pilt) where one puppet never finds the other and meets a broom.  This episode features many celebrity "sightings," including George Lucas, David Lynch, Dale Cooper*, Ross Bryant, Cookie Monster, Kermit the Frog, and the Bard himself! Vincent Castellanos was born in Havana, Cuba, where he was raised by his grandparents and surrounded by a loving family. His world was turned upside down when he came to the U.S. as a child, to live with his parents. Left alone while his parents worked, he would ‘call’ people on the phone, having conversations with the characters from his imagination. Eventually he found dance, then acting, landing guest star parts on NYPD Blue, Six Feet Under, Twin Peak and other TV shows, as well as, the role of Mateo in “Anaconda” with Jon Voight, who inspired him to become an actor and Jennifer Lopez, who became a good friend. We talk about his 30 year career in entertainment as an actor, writer, director, how at the age of 50 he decided to go back to school to earn his certificate in Interpreting and Translation, and the unexpected joys of second acts.

One of the most talked about pop culture events of this summer was the unlikely resurrection of Twin Peaks, David Lynch and Mark Frost's landmark work which brought a new level of visual, thematic and philosophical sophistication to American television before flaming out in glorious fashion with one of the most harrowing series finales of all time. Befitting a series which left its hero (Agent Dale Cooper, played by Kyle Maclachlan) trapped in a strange netherworld for a quarter of a century, Twin Peak returned feeling both familiar and not. The cast (at least, those who had not passed away in the intervening years) were back, but the tone was darker, more abrasive, and the story flew in the face of all conventions of the medium. Once the show had finished airing there had been time to take in a fuller view of Lynch and Frost's work, Ed sat down with writer and producer Emily Benita, who is currently the producer of the great history podcast Past Tense, to talk about The Return in a wide-ranging discussion that involved good, evil, grace, nostalgia, misogyny, stagnation...basically everything, and they didn't even scratch the surface. Before all that, Matt and Ed talk about the week's news, including the latest fallout from the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Sylvester Stallone taking over as director of Creed 2, and James Corden being spectacularly terrible.
