Heather and Fanzo sat down IRL at Veecon and spent nearly 2 hours together discussing a wide range of topics from what we've learned on this journey together these last 6 months, what the NFT space needs, the impact of community building and mental health pressures in this NFT space and on our youth and why they are both still bullish on NFTs but even more so bullish on the importance of Mental Health in this space. Step back and take a look at the way you lead and how effective it is. Open yourself up to influences different from your own. Is your Leadership style Diverse? Is it Inclusive? Are you being intentional? Are you listening to others? Open to all possibilities? ReThink your approach and impact. It's always good to surround yourself with different perspectives. It's what gets the juices flowing… and allows you to go inside… before projecting outwards. Are you being purposeful …from a place of purpose? ReThink Leadership by inviting outside influences in. As Unconventional Leaders, we celebrate “going against the grain” from what others are doing. However, a byproduct of that is sometimes isolation, loneliness, and struggling to have healthy relationships. Our guest this week says that she used to be a “trash friend”. She was never interested in this topic, even felt uncomfortable getting too close to people and “leaning in even when it was beneficial”. She now helps others build close friendships-- what made the change? Heather Parady - from a 5th grade education to street ministry then remedial classes at a community college to a masters degree in counseling and mental health. Heather is unconventional and loves every minute of it! So much so, she started a podcast called the Unconventional Leaders Podcast. Here she explores the unconventional aspects of leadership and what sets people apart. Heather has had huge guests such as Seth Godin, author of the Purple Cow, and Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul. I met Heather by following the #mentalhealth on Instagram. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Heather considers her daily exercise routine part of the mental health routine. It may sound obvious because there are studies that show exercise can be as good as some psychiatric medications. However, I have to say, I wasn’t expecting that answer. On this episode, Heather shares some things she’s never shared before on a podcast. We explore the intricacies of Mental Health, her experience being raised in a home that struggled with addiction, dysfunction and abandonment. How she overcame her insecurities around education to become a masters level therapist and her transition into content marketing, entrepreneurship, motherhood, coaching and life that includes mental health advocacy. Today, Heather coaches speakers, authors, business owners and podcasters on how to generate income online. She holds masterminds, hosts her podcast Unconventional Leaders and by the way, loves making videos on TikTok! Although he was born with one hand, Tony Memmel knew that the calling on his life was music. After eight YEARS of building a cast that would allow him to adaptively play not only has Tony’s music taken off (allowing him to play all over the country) but he is also touring speaking to kids with hand/limb-differences and encouraging them to make music a part of their lives. In this interview we talk about what Tony learned from his parents about grit, why we have to guard, protect, and fight for our gifts, and how by giving to others we are always refilled. One thing Tony said that really hit home for me was that difficult times either “distract you or refocus you”. Let us know your thoughts on this episode by finding us on Facebook at Unconventional Leaders. QUESTIONS ASKED: How do you teach your children grit? (7:12) Did you ever deal with anger or bitterness? She is a therapist who turned into an online entrepreneur with the intention of her work being to raise up the next generation leaders who go against the grain. I was first introduced to her via TikTok and knew immediately our ideas aligned and I wanted to share them with you! In this episode, I sit down over Skype with Heather and dive deep into various subjects. Have you ever noticed that you’ve always just done things a little bit differently? Have you been thinking about having the freedom that you want and not be bound by lock-in schedules and deadlines? Most of us are sticking to our 9 to 5 jobs because it’s something that we believe is the most stable way to earn. And some like Heather, who has a courageous soul, stepped away from the corporate world to follow what she’s passionate about. She became obsessed with the idea that you can create something from nothing and also being able to build something as big as you want. Some may think that it’s odd for someone to leave their office jobs and start a business on the internet. But as our technology is evolving, so many types of business popped up in the past few years. With the internet as one of the main reasons why it’s relatively easy to come up with something new and not worry about how it would reach the target audience you need, so many people are moving from the traditional way of making a living. Listen to the rest of the podcast for Heather talked about what she loved about podcasting, how it changed her life, and what advice would she give to her younger self. After losing her son to suicide, Anne Moss Rodgers made the brave decision to dedicate her life to raising awareness about mental health and suicide. Although she says it's a “taboo” conversation it is one that we must have in order to shift culture, see the warning signs, and ultimately save lives. In our conversation, we dig into what it has been like for her to share such a personal story publically, how she worked through her grief to find hope and what we can do as leaders to lead change and prevent deaths by suicide. This is a powerful conversation and I encourage you to download Anne Moss’ free PDF specifically for Unconventional Leaders: www.AnneMoss.com/Unconventional Topics: The link between creativity and mental health issues Connection’s role in suicide Finding the courage to share your story Connect with Anne Moss Rodgers : Websites: http://emotionallynaked.com https://AnneMossRogers.com IG: https://www.instagram.com/annemossrogers/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/AnneMossRogers FB: https://facebook.com/EmotionallyNaked LI: https://www.linkedin.com/in/digitalmarketingexpertise/ ----- Want to Start a Podcast?
