Dive into this in-depth interview on Coronavirus and COVID-19 with Dr. Jaime Hope, a ER Doctor at one of the country's busiest Level 1 Trauma Centers and who currently is on the front lines of addressing COVID-19. In this discussion with host Mike Domitrz, Dr. Hope talks about eating, masks, working out, meditation, and many aspects of COVID-19 and Coronavirus you may not have heard anywhere else. Listen in. * You are invited to join our community and conversations about each episode on FaceBook at https://www.facebook.com/MutuallyAmazingPodcast and join us on Twitter @CenterRespect or visit our website at http://www.MutuallyAmazingPodcast.com** BIO of Dr Jaime Hope: I am an Attending Physician specializing in Emergency Medicine at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. It is a Level 1 Trauma Tertiary Care center and is ranked as one of the top 12 busiest emergency departments in the country! Since becoming a physician in 2005, I have had the opportunity to see and treat patients from all walks of life and in all circumstances. It is truly a privilege to serve! In the Emergency Department, I often see patients on the worst day of their lives. I have always been interested in preventative medicine and wondered what people might do to improve their habits and avoid needing to come to the emergency department at all! That curiosity and my passion for health promotion inspired me to learn above and beyond my primary specialty. I have taken courses in nutrition, sports medicine, sleep medicine, meditation, stress relief, endocrine (hormone) health, and more! As an avid reader and podcast listener, I absolutely love to learn new things. I read about 50 books per year on topics such as personal development, stress relief, parenting, relationships, business success, healthy habits and a variety of other interesting topics…in addition to staying up to date on the latest medical literature. I have found that teaching is one of my great joys and I have been very fortunate to get to teach in topics I am most passionate about. I am an Assistant Professor at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and teach the Behavior Change and Motivational Interviewing Courses to future physicians. I am the co-faculty advisor for the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group as well as the OU Bike and Run Collective. I have part of several campus initiatives toward healthy lifestyle promotion. I am a former ‘junk food junkie’ turned healthy balanced person (not overzealous health nut!). Coming from a place of gratitude, passion, and enthusiasm, I appreciate the opportunities to help inspire others on their own health journeys. Having the opportunities to speak to audiences from all walks of life and all over the country is amazing! I speak on a broad variety of medical and health-related topics, the most popular of which have been Healthy Habits, Confidence and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome, and Resilience. Are you frequently late? Do you know someone who is? That might be because the person is an “In Time” person. Discover how to gain skills and strategies from Robyn Pearce from overcoming those struggles with host Mike Domitrz. Do you need “Energy” management or “Time” management? STORIES When still a young single mum on government benefits, told I couldn't have a job I was well qualified for because I was 'a single mum and therefore unreliable' (this was well before I'd learnt about respecting time, but it was the defining moment when I said to myself, 'I'll show the &%$#!' I respected/valued myself more highly than the cautious and narrow-minded selection board of 12 worthy town dignitaries. * You are invited to join our community and conversations about each episode on FaceBook at https://www.facebook.com/MutuallyAmazingPodcast and join us on Twitter @CenterRespect or visit our website at http://www.MutuallyAmazingPodcast.com** Robyn’s BIO: People always ask me why I teach time management. Well, to put it simply, it’s because I used to be bad at it! Yes I can honestly say I’ve walked in your moccasins. And my path has taken some interesting turns… First I was a librarian, then a farmer’s wife and mother of six (including an intellectually handicapped foster son until he was 16). Following this I ended up a solo mother on government benefit… After a few long years I decided to fight my way out of the poverty trap (dabbling in tourism along the way) and became a very successful real estate agent. Real estate taught me I had to learn better time management skills – or sink! To start with I was kicked out of meetings because I was late. PLUS: I burnt out numerous times from overwork and poor time habits. Frustrated with complaints about my lack of time management skills, a wise friend pointed me in the direction of a decent diary and a few key time management principles. Since then, through much study, trial and error, my once great weakness has transmuted into a major strength and an international business… I reckon I’ve had the best possible background for running a time management business – I really do understand how it feels to be out of control! It’s a huge buzz these days helping others make the same changes to their life as they learn and practice the many simple and practical productivity habits that changed my life so dramatically. And these days I need all the great time skills I’ve learnt over the years! The family has now expanded to include 17 grandchildren, and then there’s all the fun things and people I enjoy hanging out with – sailing, kayaking, cycling, dancing, music, learning guitar, reading, writing, films, travel and heaps of wonderful friends and extended family. Over the past 15 years, he has dedicated his life to uncovering the secrets of the mind and how to optimize it's performance. When he is not writing, teaching, or speaking, he is globetrotting, having traveled to nearly 100 countries around the world. Growing up I had a very unquiet mind. I had trouble focusing, sitting still, and keeping my mind on my thoughts and my thoughts on my mind. My mind and emotions raced and flew all over the place in quick, intense, and uncontrolled succession. This kept me from performing well in school and affected every area of my personal, professional, and academic life. Every area! Over the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated my life to understanding, exploring, and managing this mayhem. In my quest, I’ve left ‘no stone unturned,’ willing to go anywhere and try anything. This includes working with shamans in jungles of Amazon, experimenting with psychedelic plants in Africa, visiting ashrams in Asia, and everything in between. This has given me an insight into the mind and human condition that is unparalleled – what’s going on inside and how different drives and mechanisms affect our thoughts, actions, and decisions. My writing, books, and courses are a distillation of what I’ve learned on this incredible journey.
