On March 12th, 2011 at a Lululemon store in Bethesda Maryland store manager Rachel Oertli was set to open the store that morning. When she arrived at the store, she noticed the door was unlocked and there was merchandise spread across the store, not wanting to go in alone she had a bystander enter with her where they would discover worker Jayna Murray dead and Brittany Norwood injured and tied up. Was this a robbery or were there other motives behind this crime. This week, in Bethesda, Maryland, a twisted man quietly kills, for years, using an odd alter ego & even eating parts of certain victims. He is as disturbed as his serial murdering crimes, drawing strange pictures, and confessing to a man that he thinks is Jesus! He comes from a strange background, having the darkest things in common with his older brother. One of the craziest stories that we've ever done!Along the way, we find out that giving your kid certain nicknames may screw them up for life, that you shouldn't compete with your brother in some areas of life, and that even if you tell police where all the bodies are, it probably won't make the voices stop!!New episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! You may not be able to do it now but gosh darn it if there is a will there is a way! And just because it looks different doesn't mean you haven't achieved success. Maybe it will take longer than you thought. So what? Find your people. Ask for help. Be patient. Don't lose sight of the goal. And keep on swimming. There were so many humans that took the time to mentor and inspire Dr. Toni that we couldn't list them all and the story is likely incomplete. No one has achieved anything without some form of support. If it is not your family, then it is a teacher or a group of teachers. If it is not your teachers then it is your social circle or someone you connected to through your social circle. And if it is nothing like that then it is a book or a song, a presenter or a poem, a portrait or a character. You can be inspired and supported no matter the dream, it just depends on your perspective. Find your people and open your heart and you will get where you want to go no matter how long it takes. Thanks to Jeff Jeudy for providing the music!!Dr. Aimee is next!

The Naval report about the Dachau mescaline experiments was the catalyst for Project CHATTER which focused on identifying and testing drugs for interrogations and recruitment of intelligence agents. It was headed by Lieutenant Dr. Charles Savage, a graduate of Yale and the Pritzker Medical School at the University of Chicago. Dr. Savage conducted the experiments at the Naval Institute in Bethesda Maryland, using high doses of mescaline; but, like the Dachau tests, the experiment failed to yield an effective “truth serum.” He then tested LSD, selecting “severely depressed” military patients in the knowledge that they would suffer ill effects. He started them on 20 micrograms, and then increased the dose daily up to the point at which psycho-physiological changes were observed. He obtained LSD from Sandoz Pharmaceutical Co.

In 2006 Lee Woodruff got the phone call that no wife ever wants to get. Her husband Bob, then the co-anchor of ABC World News Tonight, had been his by a roadside bomb in Iraq. In the explosion of rocks and metal, Bob was critically injured, sustaining shrapnel wounds to the head.He was evacuated to Bethesda Maryland where he was put into a medically induced coma for five weeks to allow his brain to heal. Bob and Lee had already been together for a long time, they had four young kids and Lee had no idea what their life would look like moving forward. Lee recounts her love story and their family's journey beautifully in her New York Times bestseller In an Instant, but I have to say that there was nothing like hearing both Bob and Lee tell their story together in this interview. This is a story about the unexpected, both the unexpected tragedies that upend our lives, but also the unexpected joy that we find in the aftermath of those tragedies. Hello to you listening in Bethesda, Maryland!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey. When I launched my communication consulting practice, Quarter Moon Story Arts, I established a uniquely forward-looking, story-based business founded on the power of story to profoundly and positively shift our awareness, our behavior, even our culture. Like magic, the sorcery of stories is this: they help each of us to be seen and heard, to understand and be understood. As the eldest of 7 children, an incest survivor, nurse, attorney, litigation consultant, and professional storyteller I had to teach myself again and again how to be seen, heard, understood, and listened to. How did I do that? I learned to tell my personal and professional stories in my own words with my own values in my own way. Always it was a now-or- never chance to become a stubbornly courageous speaker willing to give life to my authentic voice. My mission is language. Language is power. Your stories, visions, ideas, and messages are powerful; but only if they are brought to life. What if you could tell the story that advances your business, creates clarity in life choices, persuades your clients, or produces effective results from your ideas? If you have a desire to say what you mean and mean what you say, come as you are and change inside Quarter Moon Story Arts.Let's book a Discovery Call and get your story going:linkedin.com/in/diane-f-wyzga-78403919aEmail: Diane@quartemoonstoryarts60 Seconds is your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that. From September 17-October 1, Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg created the largest participatory art installation on the Washington National Mall since the AIDS quilt of 1996, entitled ‘In America: Remember,' composed of 700,000 white flags, in the shadow of the Washington Monument. A stunning achievement. Listen to her reflections on listening to those among the 16,000 who personalized a flag to memorialize their loss. “So many of these deaths happened in isolation.” The project unfolded amid our bitter divisions: “ We are tearing ourselves apart as a society.” 35,000 died unnecessarily over the two-week course of the installation. Remarkably, though, she succeeded in creating a solemn, quiet, respectful space where it was “safe to bring one's grief” and escape our politics. Does this memorial create a lasting constituency that will press for a national commission? Any memorialization has to include an in-depth examination of what happened. Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg is an artist based in Bethesda Maryland.
