The Pink Palace of the Pacific. The Royal Hawaiian might be the most important hotel in Waikiki's history and even Hawaii's history. It established the tone & image of what people think of Hawaii today. Matson Navigation Co. used the Royal Hawaiian as a marketing scheme to curate the image of laid back people, calm joyful music, palm trees swaying, crashing waves, lots of bright flowers and all around beautiful nature all combining it with the rich Hawaiian culture and history. Mountain Biking today seems almost too perfect. Expensive and lightweight carbon bikes with full suspension, slick paint jobs, perfect nature trails, big air, the list goes on. It wasn't always this way. Gary Fisher and Charlie Kelly paved the path with cheap $5 Klunker/Beater bikes, modding them and going down the mountain... hence the name "mountain bikes." The "Buy-One Give-One" model was popularized by companies like TOMS and Warby Parker. Bombas is Latin for the word bumblebee. Both the bumblebees and Bombas as a company share similar traits with how bees interact with each other. From working together to achieve larger than life goals, caring for others, a close knit & open environment like a bee hive. Bombas is very much a mission driven company as well, with their buy one and donate one model (similar to TOMS and Warby Parker). This caused the music industry to lose billions of dollars in revenue each year. So in 2006, Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon went out to solve this problem of piracy to help fairly compensate artists and record labels for their work.
