Let's face it—your biggest obstacle isn't the competition, market trends, or even the economy. It's you. In this episode, we dive into the uncomfortable truth about self-sabotage, performance anxiety, and the paralyzing effects of perfectionism. If you've hesitated to launch an idea or doubted your capabilities, you're not alone—and it's time to get out of your own way.I've been there—paralyzed by performance anxiety, second-guessing my abilities, and avoiding opportunities for fear of failing. But, I learned that fear thrives on inaction. The key is to shift your mindset. Start by celebrating small wins, practicing positive self-talk, and visualizing success. Most importantly, take that first imperfect step because progress beats perfection every time.Every entrepreneur wrestles with self-doubt at some point. It might show up as a voice whispering that your idea isn't good enough or the perfectionism that keeps you endlessly planning instead of executing. These mental roadblocks can feel overwhelming, but recognizing their stranglehold is the first step to breaking free.We also touch on imposter syndrome—a feeling up to 82% of us experience. It's natural to question your abilities, but letting that doubt control you? That's your own choice. We unpack how to acknowledge those feelings, embrace them as part of growth, and ultimately move forward with confidence. So, how do we win this battle? By consistently showing up. Setting intentional routines, reviewing your goals, and rewiring your mindset. Is Your Business Partner The Problem?

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 4, 2024 22:19

In business, just like relationships, it's crucial to find someone who complements your strengths and elevates your weaknesses. A partner should bring either financial resources or valuable connections that can help you scale - we're not partnering with friends or family because it could be ‘fun'. Think of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak — one was the visionary while the other was the technical genius. Their mutual respect for each other's skills was key to Apple's success.Yet, not all partnerships work out. Often, partners fail to deliver on their promises and we're here to talk about it.Communication is vital; over-communicate your expectations and document everything. If issues arise, consider renegotiation and always have an exit strategy in place. For these types of scenarios and others, legal agreements are essential to partnerships. You must clearly outline ownership stakes, roles, and what happens if things go south. A solid partnership agreement acts like a prenup for your business, protecting your interests and ensuring both parties are on the same page. While partnerships can be risky, they also offer significant rewards. A good partnership can foster creativity, alleviate pressure, and help you grow faster. But remember, it's not just about finding any partner; it's about finding the right one.In the end, partnerships can be your greatest asset or your biggest liability. Be strategic, be methodical, and always prioritize the protection of your business from the start. Thanks for listening to another episode of Young Boss with your host Isabelle Guarino. Unlock Entrepreneurial Success: How Stoicism Can Supercharge Your Business and Brand

How can Stoicism lift somebody out of depression and into greatness? This week I sat down with Zach Fisher of New Reach Education. We dive into the lonely and heartless world of sales, business agility, and the mental resilience required to succeed. Starting as a door-to-door salesman, Zach learned the art of perseverance, building tight bonds with his colleagues through trauma bonding, and ultimately how to handle rejection. His transition to in-home sales, where he focused on closing deals in a single call, sharpened his skills even further. However, after subjecting himself to too many ‘on-call' weekends and having experienced a plentiful amount of rejection, Zach turned to family. It was Zach's time to change his life. And as it often is with family, it was his brother—a "legend" in the infospace—who opened the door to this world, but it was Zach who made it his own through hard work and strategy. As a key figure at New Reach Education, Zach plays an important role in shaping the company's marketing, fulfillment, and community initiatives. He emphasizes how partnering with people who share your vision and values is critical to achieving success. But it's not just about building the right team—it's about staying agile. Zach warns against becoming too rigid, highlighting the need to balance structure with flexibility to keep your business innovative and responsive to change.Zach also shares with us how he finds joy amongst the chaos. Whether it's pushing forward through uncertainty or mastering profit and loss statements, he believes success lies in focusing on what you can control. His business philosophy? Find partners that complement your strengths, don't be afraid to make bold moves, and keep a close eye on your finances.A believer in Stoicism, Zach also discusses with us how this ancient philosophy has been his superpower as an entrepreneur, helping him overcome challenges and take control of his mindset. If you're looking for actionable strategies to grow your business or ways to harness Stoic principles for entrepreneurial success, you won't want to miss this episode. Thanks for listening to another episode of Young Boss with your host Isabelle Guarino. This week's guest's journey began with a passion for education and children. Lauren So brings a fresh perspective to entrepreneurship in this week's episode. Growing up with parents who owned private schools, Lauren was inspired to pursue a career working with children, particularly those with special needs. After three years of teaching, she took her mother's advice and dove into the world of behavior analysis, becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). It was in this field that Lauren saw an overwhelming demand, leading her to start her own business from the ground up.With just $5,000 in her business account (money she claims to never had to use), Lauren faced the challenges of entrepreneurship head-on. From navigating insurance billing and credentialing to figuring out marketing all on her own (a fault she admits in the episode), she built her business one step at a time. Her marketing strategy? A simple Canva account and a slow start with only three calls. But with persistence, she grew her business, eventually hiring employees—a major milestone that brought new responsibilities and challenges like managing turnover and different work styles.Lauren also shares her journey of balancing motherhood and being a boss. As a mom of three and an entrepreneur, she talks candidly about the need for organization and calmness to keep things running smoothly, both at home and in the business. Letting go of control and trusting her team became key to her success, allowing her to focus on the bigger picture while her employees handled day-to-day tasks. In this episode, we also talk about the bigger challenges Lauren faces in her field, from the gatekeeping of information and the often misunderstood public perception of behavior analysis. She dives into the importance of sharing knowledge within the industry and advocating for better representation of behavioral disabilities in the media. If you're looking for tips on how to balance motherhood with entrepreneurship or how to grow a business from the ground up, Lauren shares her key advice: become an expert, understand the weight of being a boss, and start building your dream while you're young enough to chase it.Thanks for listening to another episode of Young Boss with your host Isabelle Guarino.
