There's a heat wave in NYC! The runways in Europe are melting! What a better time to talk about Airline Food! We have on our second guest to the show - Khiara, a dear friend and an expert traveler. We talk about those amazing Biscoff cookies, the do's and don't of pre-flight traveling, how Delta has re-branded turbulence to "rough air". We rate airlines for their food - not their flying. We commiserate with service workers in the air, and Michelle once again is nervous is her chair while Robert enjoys the thrills of being closer to his dream job as an air hostess!
Aeroplane food doesn't have the greatest reputation. Though it might be easy to blame an airline for serving lacklustre meals, the problem is more complex. Ruth Alexander discovers how the physics of flying wreaks havoc on our senses, the extraordinary lengths airlines have gone to try to dress up their food offering, and what it's like to be the one serving you at your seat. And, she asks, will it ever be possible for all passengers to enjoy a tasty and nourishing meal in the air? Culinary historian, Richard Foss, chef-patron of Kitchen Theory, Jozef Youssef, and flight attendant, Kaylie Kay, join her for the ride. Nik Loukas from InflightFeed.com joins RGN deputy editor John Walton for a wide-ranging conversation about onboard catering and how airlines of all kinds keep us fed and watered on the aircraft. What’s new in the world of plane food? What are low-cost airlines focussing on, and how are they doing? Which are the ones to watch…and which are the ones to watch out for? How do the airlines doing a great job with onboard grub do it? What are some of the best meals that Nik and John have enjoyed, and what were some of the shockers? How is the trend of bigger main meals — and smaller side dishes — on full services carriers going? How important is the environmental movement in reducing waste and being more thoughtful about the impact of #PaxEx on the planet?
We'll tell you why airline food is......well kind of terrible.

I always wondered what an airline flight would be like without the food carts. What if the Plane took off, and left the food cart on the airport tarmac? Would it be chaos? Would there be screaming? Who knows, every flight that I've been on has always been nicely stocked with sodas, coffee, and enough peanuts to feed an elephant. But the question still remains, what if? Have you ever found yourself easily stressed, anxious, worried, and well let’s face it, even overreacting when the trials and hardships of life arise? It's easy to worry about what we'll eat, wear, of even drive when we look in our wallet and see nothing. But let’s not forget that God has you and I as His top priority, God promises to provide all of our needs, but we have a responsibility to keep our eyes on Him rather than on the hard pressing circumstances of life. Matthew 6:31-34 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. So I encourage you to stop worrying about your life; what you’re going to eat, wear, or even about your future. God holds your life in His hands, so rather than seeking what you'll eat, seek the Lord and do everything that you can do to be pleasing to him. And next time you begin to worry about your life, just remember that not only are you God's top priority, but He hasn't left your needs on the airport tarmac.
