Where do coaches turn when they face a difficult situation with a client? Quite often, when coaching challenges arise, they reach out to a coach more senior than themselves. That’s the aim of Just Between Coaches — to be that trusted source of guidance for the coaching community. Hosted by Melinda Cohan, coach and creator of The Coaches Console business management system, Just Between Coaches will answer the tough questions that coaches face every day. For example, what can I do if my client is lying? How do I deal with price resistance from prospects and clients? What if I want to fire a coaching client? And what the heck is a feeder course and why should I care? This tactical podcast will provide a deep dive into one coaching topic per episode, which means searching for answers will be a breeze. It will also offer a simple way for listeners to refer other coaches who are grappling with those tough coaching questions. To submit a tough question you’re facing as a coach, put “JBC” in the subject line and send it to podcasts@mirasee.com.

The Just Between Coaches podcast is a fantastic resource for coaches and anyone interested in the coaching profession. Hosted by Melinda Cohan, this podcast brings together seasoned coaches to share their insights, experiences, and strategies. Each episode is filled with great discussions on topics that often come up for coaches, such as setting prices, dealing with client resistance, and navigating challenging situations with clients.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the depth of knowledge and expertise that the guests bring to each episode. Listening to other coaches discuss how they think and approach things with clients is incredibly valuable for any coach looking to improve their practice. The conversations are insightful and thought-provoking, providing practical tips and guidance that can be applied in real coaching situations.

Another aspect that stands out in this podcast is Melinda Cohan's skill as a host. She has a wonderful approach to engaging her guests and guiding the conversation. Her compassionate candor shines through in every episode, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for listeners. Additionally, I appreciate how she starts each episode by reading listener emails as a starting point for discussion, bringing real-life scenarios into the conversation.

While it's hard to find any negative aspects of this podcast, one thing that some listeners might find challenging is the occasional repetition of certain topics or concepts across episodes. However, this can also be seen as a positive aspect as it reinforces key ideas and allows for a deeper understanding of different perspectives on the same topic.

In conclusion, The Just Between Coaches podcast is an excellent resource for coaches at all stages of their career. Whether you're just starting out or have been coaching for years, there's something valuable to learn from each episode. The discussions are insightful, the guests are knowledgeable, and Melinda Cohan's hosting style creates an engaging listening experience. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in coaching or looking to enhance their coaching skills.

They discuss the importance of meeting clients where they are and testing and navigating the limits of their worldviews. Melinda and Adam also delve into the process of breakthroughs and the challenges that arise along the way. The conversation highlights the significance of trusting intuition and making room for spirit in the coaching process — and we learn practical strategies to facilitate breakthroughs and create tangible results.Key Takeaways:Transformational results require a fundamental shift in the way we show up in our lives, while transactional results are surface-level changes that don't require a fundamental shift.Coaches should meet clients where they are and explore the limits of their worldviews to support them in creating breakthroughs.Breakthroughs often involve a process of discomfort and uncertainty, and coaches should hold space for clients to be in their own process.Creating tangible results and setting measurable goals can support clients in staying on the path of breakthroughs.Coaches should make room for spirit and trust the process of co-creation in facilitating breakthroughs.Chapters:00:00 - The Secrets Behind Breakthroughs01:46 - Adam Quiney's Journey of Self-Discovery and Transformation02:45 - Transformational Results vs Transactional Results04:14 - Creating Transformational Results05:12 - The Difference Between Surface Level Changes and Transformation06:34 - Meeting Clients Where They Start08:02 - Exploring the Limits of Clients' Worldviews09:23 - The Process of Breakthroughs10:49 - Navigating the Challenges of Breakthroughs13:14 - The Structure and Magic of Breakthroughs16:29 - Trusting Intuition and Being in the Process18:18 - Creating Tangible Results20:43 - Making Room for Spirit in Breakthroughs22:34 - The Journey of Trusting Spirit28:22 - Approaches to Facilitate Breakthroughs“To create the transformational result where I worked half as many hours and made twice as much money, that was going to require a breakthrough, a fundamental change in the way I showed up in my life.” — Adam QuineyGuest Bio:Adam Quiney is an executive leadership coach specializing in working with the “Smartest People in the Room.” A former software developer and attorney, Adam's learned the hard way about the costs that come from keeping your heart safe and chasing after external rewards to feel whole and complete. From a place of love, Adam is connection, passion, presence, wit, and brilliance. Lauren shares her insightful tips on breaking free from the “fine” trap and empowering your clients (and yourself) to live more authentically.  Lauren will share her poignant journey from a workaholic corporate HR professional to a transformative life coach, following a life-altering accident. She and Melinda will discuss why we often default to saying we're “fine” even when our true feelings are far more complex, and how this can keep us from pursuing the richer, more gratifying lives we deserve. Lauren will offer insights into breaking down overwhelming feelings and tasks to move past our fears and the busyness that consumes us. We'll also talk about practicing self-acknowledgment, celebrating our accomplishments, and genuinely being happy for ourselves — and how these actions can inspire others.  Lauren Lefkowitz is a coach who partners with executives and emerging leaders who are ready to find joy, excitement, challenge, and balance in their careers and have a personal life to love.  In this episode Melinda and Lauren talk about: The habitual response of saying “I'm fine” and how people often mask their true feelings The dangers of the “fine” trap, where individuals pretend everything is okay, covering up frantic, irrational, neurotic, and emotional states The toxicity of always pretending that everything is amazing and how it can harm personal growth Lauren's personal transformation from a corporate HR role to a coaching career after a significant accident, emphasizing the shift from financial success to finding joy and purpose Busyness as a barrier to personal fulfillment and the importance of making space to pursue dreams Lauren's coaching approach with high achievers, focusing on identifying what isn't working in their lives and what they truly want Managing overwhelming tasks by breaking them down into manageable steps The need for self-acknowledgment, the importance of celebrating one's accomplishments, and countering the tendency to minimize one's own achievements The positive impact of openly sharing and celebrating successes to inspire others “I'd never really charged anyone for coaching. I felt like I was really good at it, and it came really easily to me, so it couldn't be worth all that much money, which is not true at all.” — Lauren Lefkowitz Guest Bio:  Lauren Lefkowitz is an executive coach who partners with executives and emerging leaders who have gotten to the middle of their careers and think, This is IT? She works with humans who are ready to find joy, excitement, challenge, and balance in their careers and have a personal life to love.   Lauren was an 80-hour-a-week executive, is a recovering people pleaser, and has lived with chronic illness for nearly 20 years (and once, she broke both of her shoulders chasing a vacuum). She was living the “fine is a trap” way for years, convincing herself that working all the time and never feeling well were just part of life. Despite these challenges, she decided to take control of her life, learn to set boundaries, create opportunities for personal choice, and relaunch her own career to find her version of success and joy.  She now coaches people and teams who function the way she used to so they can find their own versions of “amazing.” Lauren makes it comfortable to get uncomfortable, create powerful goals, and create sustainable career and life transformation.
