Send us Fan MailThe bombs started falling on Iran again this week, who retaliated by striking US bases in the Gulf. Israel attacks on Lebanon escalated, threatening UNESCO World Heritage sites, and then a ceasefire was announced, but will Hezbollah stop? Russia scaled up its attacks on Ukraine, with murmurs suggesting internal support in Russia is waning. And on the other side of the world, Pauline Hanson in Australia is moving up the electoral charts, leaving us wondering, really? That's the direction Australia thinks is sensible right now? Extreme heat events continue around the world, with India releasing estimates of excess deaths during heatwaves at 3,400 a day, and up to 30,000 over a five-day heatwave - and that's just India. Weather professor Jeff Berardelli said the forecast strength of this El Niño is nothing short of astonishing, deserving a “Supercalifragilistic expialidocious!” rating. However, later that day, he shared another view with a different data set, suggesting it won't be that catastrophic – we hope so! Meanwhile the results of 60 section 301 investigations are out (we'll explain that), Trump wants to cancel the 250-year celebrations because most of the musicians pulled out, SpaceX's IPO is coming, Europe is disentangling its tech reliance on the US, and that's just a taste of what's been happening this week. Our theme this week is managing yourself and owning your BS, which we think is a pretty important skillset right now, so we are delighted to welcome the Titanium Hipster herself, Cindy Tien. Cindy is a professional speaker on EQ for influence, an executive coach, Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and she recently launched her new book – InSide, Break Through Your BS to Influence Yourself. We're going to learn why she decided it was time to write her book, her journey of facing up to her own BS, and we'll also learn the most underrated skill we all need so we can manage ourselves. We are excited to learn from Cindy. Please do join us this Friday, as we all prepare to face our own BS, as well as getting an update on the most important news happening in the world. We'll be going live Friday, 5th June 2026, kicking off at 8am UK, 9am EU, 11am UAE, 12.30pm IN, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. Streaming across various locations, and no doubt about it, we'd love your support. The Sh*t Show is a Livestream happening every Friday, where Andrea T Edwards, Dr. David Ko, Richard Busellato and Joe Augustin, as well as special guests, discuss the world's most pressing issues across all angles of the polycrisis, working to make sense of the extremely challenging and complex times we are all going through, plus what we can do about it. Send us Fan MailPope Leo's Magnifica Humanitas encyclical was released this week, with AI taking centre stage, but it wasn't just this document that discussed AI, in the US - due to protests against AI, mainly datacentres - ‘Anti-Tech Extremism' is now a target for law enforcement, and of course, the bombs started to fall again on Iran. In case you've been living under a rock, Europe's heatwave took centre stage in the world's news, which unleashed climate deniers across social media, meanwhile - not gaining anywhere near the level of attention - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam and beyond, are seeing extreme wet bulb temperatures creeping towards 50°C, with grids straining to keep citizens cool, especially during an energy crisis. We saw the first Enhanced Games break one record (just), the backlash against Ferrari's first EV, Alberta has decided to move ahead with plans for independence from Canada, more than 90 people died in a coal mine explosion in China, and at least 500 children have died of measles in Bangladesh. In Saudi Arabia, the Hajj goes ahead with extreme heat a massive risk, apparently 1.2 billion people are living with mental disorders globally, scientists are screaming the alarm as Thwaites (aka the Doomsday Glacier) is facing imminent collapse, and of course, Ebola is raging and experts are becoming increasingly concerned. It's been a big week! Our theme this week is looking into what it's like working as a humanitarian today, as the multiple crisis pile up, the funding shrinks, and extreme weather events ripple across the world. We will discuss the state of the humanitarian field today, the biggest concerns, the reality of funding cuts on the ground, the Ebola situation as its unfolding, preparation (or not) for the forthcoming Super El Niño, and how you can work in this field and keep your faith in extremely challenging times. To help us understand the state of the humanitarian field, we are delighted to welcome Nicola Upham, who is director of humanitarian strategy and delivery for Save the Children, but she is not speaking on behalf of Save the Children, she is speaking as a leader in the field. Nicola has been working for humanitarian organizations for nearly two decades, and prior to this worked in recruitment and even had a stint at Coca-Cola in sales. She's seen it all across her career, and we're so grateful for the opportunity for a birds-eye-view into the humanitarian profession, from a person doing the hard work supporting the most vulnerable. Please do join us for this unique opportunity, especially as Nicola is really busy right now, dealing with the world's crisis. It's all happening this Friday, 29th May 2026, and the livestream kicks off at 8am UK, 9am EU, 11am UAE, 12.30pm IN, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. Send us Fan MailWe went from Hantavirus to the Ebola virus this week, with the rare Bundibugyo strain unleashed in Africa. The WHO have declared a global health emergency, as the scale and speed of its emergence alarms experts. Meanwhile, the details of the US/China visit are emerging, while Trump returned to a country in chaos with shocking poll numbers and escalating inflation, Taiwan reaffirms its independence, and Iran was threatened (again) by Trump and then it was called off (again), as well as other shenanigans coming out of the Whitehouse. No doubt, the global economy continues to be erratic, and, as a side note, if you're thinking of ballmaxxing, you might want to think again. On the other end of the world, scientists are alarmed as the Thwaites Glacier (aka the Doomsday Glacier) starts to break apart rapidly, the WHO is being asked to call the climate crisis a global health emergency, Greenland ice melt has surged sixfold and scientists are alarmed, the insect apocalypse has been linked to malnutrition and stunting in Nepal, there are 170 trillion (at a minimum) pieces of plastic in the world's oceans, and our rivers are becoming depleted of oxygen. Yeah, a lot going on here. To help us dig into our theme of DEI in a post-woke world, we are so happy to welcome Zsuzsanna Tungli Ph.D. Zsuzsanna has been a force in global leadership development for more than three decades, and she focuses on developing and utilising cross-cultural competence for a more harmonious and effective world, accelerating the journey towards gender equality and supporting organisations to develop (even) more inclusive and responsible leaders and individuals. Author of The Culture Key, and managing partner of Developing Global Leaders Asia, it's hard to find someone more at the leading edge - and impacted by - the global setback on DEI in the business world. So come and join us as we step back and look at where we're headed from an economic perspective, this Friday, 22nd May 2026. Send us Fan MailPresidents' Xi and Trump are meeting in China right now, with experts predicting it will shape relations between the two great nations for at least the next decade. Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz remains in a stalemate, gunshots were heard in the Philippines Senate as a senator wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) sought refuge, Sir Keir Starmer continues to fight for his life, with the question being asked – is the media responsible? and there's a new term – the sad wives of AI. In the meantime, our seas are rising rapidly with scientists struggling to understand why, META thinks users should be responsible for behaviour when it comes to its smart glasses, Trump abandons his Gold Coast Tower ambitions because the Trump brand is toxic in Australia, popularity polls in the US are showing Trump falling off a cliff at home as consumer prices skyrocket, and datacentres are draining water and cutting off energy in regions around the world. The backdrop to all of this is the global economy. It's roiling in every direction, with doom and gloom the dominant narrative right now, with more experts finally talking about the cumulative impacts of both the war in Iran, and the forthcoming El Niño, which is expected to amplify the current crisis over the longer term. That doesn't sound good, so how do we make sense of it? This week we are delighted to welcome Marco Jean Aboav, PhD, to help us understand where we are and what's happening. Marco has spent more than 15 years in research, portfolio management, and building fintech infrastructure for public capital markets. He is the co-founder of Etna Research, an AI lab for financial services, who help institutional clients and asset owners in their quest for performance on long-only and absolute return mandates across equity, macro and crypto. He's also VP and community builder for PugliaTechs - a nonprofit organization working to transform Puglia into a global tech hub, has worked as an external Fintech/AI advisor on the AWS Loft program, was a senior fellow at the Aspen Institute, and a whole lot more. So come and join us as we step back and look at where we're headed from an economic perspective, this Friday, 15th May 2026. Send us Fan MailWe've all learned about the Hantavirus this week, with a cruise ship struck and at least three people dead, harkening back to the days of the pandemic. War is still up in the air, with the possibility of peace in Iran, although it's hard to know if you're only following President Trump's Truth Social posts. Can someone take his phone off him? Meanwhile, the stock markets are up and down, with energy and food experts screaming disaster is on the doorstep, but you wouldn't believe that if you only followed Wall Street, right? In Karachi, Pakistan, at least 10 people have died of heatstroke, while India continues to experience shocking temperatures, and finally, the great man, Sir David Attenborough turns 100 this week. We'll be discussing all of that and more, but first, we're going to look at the state of the insurance industry and what the actuaries are saying. We'll discuss this within the context of the Nine Planetary Boundaries, and assess the current state of the insurance sector, including how far until it collapses, why it will collapse, and what that means to all of us. Because if it does go down, the global economy is next, and well, that won't be pretty. It's a big, wide discussion, and we are delighted to welcome Praveen Gupta to share his wisdom. Praveen started in insurance back in the late 70s with The New India Assurance Co, followed by CGU, Allianz, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, and finished his illustrious career as Managing Director and CEO of Raheja QBE General Insurance Company. Today he is a blogger, writer and thinker, with articles regularly featured in Illuminem, and he is also an Advisory Board Member for Sanctuary Asia. Send us Fan MailWe are going to take a different approach this week and re-orient the conversation to the current state of our planet. Yes someone tried to assassinate the US President (and the conspiracy theories are flourishing), yes King Charles is trying to heal the “very special relationship” between the US and UK, yes the war with Iran is at a stalemate and economic impacts growing, along with having a new insurgency erupting in Mali, civilians continuing to be killed in Lebanon, Israel is facing EU anger for buying Ukrainian wheat from the Russians, and the UAE has left OPEC, but… What is going on with our planet and is it more important than all the rest? We're hearing escalating concerns from the scientific community about the forthcoming El Niño (it's either a Super or Godzilla at this point), AMOC is back in the news as a near-term threat, food shortages are expected to escalate from these changes immediately and long term (even if it's not included with food insecurity/inflation impact from the Iranian war, so we can expect a double whammy) and the world's oceans are experiencing record heat ALREADY. Where is this all taking us? We have Oliver Gill (the water man) back with us as co-host this week as Joe can't join us, however, unfortunately, Jan Umsonst, the Earth System Nerd, wasn't able to join us. No problem - an excuse to get him back again soon - but we still covered a lot of topics, from the economic situation today to the state of the planet more broadly. Come and join us as we step back and look at the state of the planet, this Friday, 1st May 2026. Send us Fan MailTrump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a commonly used criticism towards anyone who doesn't agree with Trump's agenda, but looking at what he's doing right now, should TDS be targeted at those still fully aligned with him? Because right now, Asia is suffering immensely due to the war in Iran, we've heard rumblings Trump was looking for the nuclear codes (unproven but not unbelievable), and the WSJ reported he had such a mighty tantrum he was locked out of his own war room. Times are tense for everyone everywhere, and added to this are the escalating warnings of a Godzilla El Niño, we saw New Zealand hammered by extraordinary floods, the UK is in mayhem about Mandelson (again), the ‘Rape Academy' made front page news, the Druzbha oil pipeline is open again for business, the 90 billion Euro aid package for Ukraine is back on track, the AI backlash is growing, and the Nerd Reich is openly telling the world their intentions, with Palantir publishing a 22-point manifesto. Because everything is so incredibly intense, we wanted to bring in a special guest who can help us with the mental and emotional load, answering the question – can resilience be learned? Apparently, it can, and we are delighted to welcome Dr Jane Tuomola, a highly experienced executive and team coach who integrates her clinical psychology experience with her work as a coach. She believes that a deep understanding of psychology is key to meaningful behavioural change, finding purpose, and creating lasting impact. Originally from the UK, Jane began her career as a clinical psychologist before relocating to Asia, and today, she serves as a trainer, coaching supervisor, and mentor coach for three globally accredited coaching schools. Come and join us as we disentangle the complexity of this time, and with Jane, develop our resilience muscles while we're doing it. Send us Fan MailThe pressure keeps ramping up, and this week was like no other, with a potty-mouthed Potus threatening to destroy an entire civilization. While the media and experts try to determine what he meant by this statement – a war crime in its own right (not the act, just saying the words) - the only way a civilization the size of Iran could be destroyed is by going nuclear. Did we really get so close this week? Well, in this day and age, none of us can feel confident it won't happen, but boy, it wouldn't be very smart, would it? Of course, the markets rose and fell, the price of fossil fuels too, and almost immediately, the ceasefire was over, because Israel decided to carry out its largest bombing campaign of Lebanon straight after the announcement, so the Strait of Hormuz is “shut” once again. It makes you wonder if there is a way out of this mess that isn't utter destruction? Nothing is giving us any confidence yet. Of course, plenty of other news worth our attention, from a deep dive into Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI and whether he can be trusted, the US leaving NATO, JD Vance being JD Vance, recycled plastic is worth something at last, and oh, the US threatening the Catholic Church with the Avignon Papacy. Yep, things are weird, no doubt about it. To help us dig into this and more, we are delighted to welcome Andy Lopata. Andy is an internationally recognised authority on professional relationships, with more than 25 years of experience helping organisations and individuals unlock the commercial and cultural value of connection. The author of six books and co-host of The Connected Leadership Podcast, Andy is a regular contributor to Psychology Today and has written for Harvard Business Review. We're going to discuss Andy's professional advice on building professional relationships and networking, then translate that into how we can use it more broadly, as we all face deepening uncertainty. Send us Fan Mail Hooley dooley, what a week! We started in the middle of a 48-hour countdown that seemed to have only one possible outcome – global Armageddon - but then there was a pause (a TACO moment?) with five more days to consider options. Not long after that we heard there were behind-the-scenes peace negotiations starting according to Trump, but the Iranians said it was fake news, all while the bombs kept dropping. No doubt, it has been one of the most intense weeks in living memory. So yes, we are going to talk about the war, it's fall-out and impacts across the world, as well as the confusion that seems to be emanating from even the greatest minds on the issue of what's next. We'll also discuss the latest state of the climate, including food shocks, extreme weather impacts, and other stories that have our attention, but importantly, for the first hour, we will be discussing how to cope in uncertain times. To help us do this, we are delighted to welcome Nick Jonsson, a man of many talents. He is also a certified and highly experienced facilitator, as well as a supervised counsellor and psychotherapist. Based on his experiences, we are going to discuss how we can all cope in challenging times, the role of community, the alternatives to unhealthy coping mechanisms, how to feel safe when everything is on edge, why vulnerability is a strength, as well as daily practises to stabilize our mindset and energy in tough times. We know this moment is hard, we're feeling it too, which is why we are delighted to have Nick join us this week. Send us Fan MailThe only news story able to break through the cacophony of war is the global conversation happening off the back of Louis Theroux's documentary, Inside the Manosphere. Every possible view is on the table, and regardless of what that view is, a conversation has begun, which is always a good thing… maybe. Sometimes what begins as positive momentum can turn into backlash, something we saw following the #MeToo movement. We'll discuss this story and some wider manosphere perspectives, and of course, the war. It's not looking good, as escalation seems to be the only plan on the table, which is not going to end well. We'll discuss the various global ramifications happening, from fracturing alliances to what it means to us, as well as dig into the state of the global economy. Since the beginning of the war, economists said it wasn't going to happen, but this week we've learned oil increasing to $150-200 a barrel is now a much stronger possibility, which would cause economic calamity. We also had Jerome Powell, head of the US Federal Reserve, use the word “uncertain” seven times in his latest press briefing, and what he is uncertain about is alarming. Our information infrastructure is also under assault, from AI fakes about the war, to influencers calming nerves, but it's Britain's GB News in the spotlight – should it be renamed Reform TV? By the time we go live, a category five cyclone will have smashed into northern Queensland, and in the meantime, the expected Super El Niño could increase global temperatures by .3°C, which is HUGE, and gets us very close to the 2°C mark. It's just us this week and we certainly appreciate the intensity of this moment. We are witnessing the mental health impacts in real-time, and while we don't sugar coat the news, hopefully it helps seeing all the different threads together, so we can make some sense of it. Then there is the wider economic implications, from farmers all over the world unable to fertilize crops or drive equipment, schools closed because no fuel for buses, work from home orders in place across the world to reduce fuel use, food inflation and energy inflation escalating rapidly, and in the Philippines, it's going dark at night because of fuel restrictions. As always, we'll discuss this within the bigger context of how it ripples out and consumes the world, including the environmental impact, and why the situation we are in is a very VERY bad idea, no matter which “side” you're sitting on. There is more news to discuss, of course, I mean, have you seen the floods in Australia and Kenya, and the Tornados in the US? However, we're also going to dig into mandatory ISSB-aligned reporting too – that's the climate reporting ‘bit' in the title. You might ask - is it still a thing? Because the US administration rescinded its endangerment finding on greenhouse gases, and the EU simplified its sustainability reporting thresholds through Omnibus I, so does that mean the rules are loosening, the pressure is easing, and we can all relax? Not so fast. To help us explore this in more detail and uncover what's next, we are delighted to welcome our special guest, Joanne Flinn, who is on the Thinkers50 Radar for 2026, Chairperson of the ESG Institute, and author of Greensight -The Sustainability Guide for Company Directors. Joanne is a keynote speaker, prolific author, artist, AND right now, she is thinking ‘out loud' for her next book, publishing early thoughts on Substack. You can find her there. The intensity continues and we appreciate how overwhelming everything is, so hopefully we can help bring all the different threads together and make some sense of it. That's always our goal. So why not come and join us this Friday, 13th March 2026, at 7am UK, 8am EU, 11am UAE, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST. Send a textThis time last week, the US and Israel weren't at war with Iran, alas, the very next morning the bombs started dropping. Terrific (not)! It's been absolute chaos since, with the narrative of the “why” probably the most chaotic it's ever been, because why did this war start? Pre‑emptive self‑defence against Iranian attacks? Yes and, because Israel started it and we had to follow? Yes and, stopping Iran's nuclear and missile programme? Yes and, protection of allies / collective defence? Yes and, regime change and “freeing the Iranian people”? Yes and, because Iran is a “global danger”? Yes, and we could go on, we've heard it all. While we will certainly cover a lot more news, the first hour will be focused on this war and what it really means, with a special focus on war, oil, and the economy. We will discuss the war crime of a girls primary school in Iran being bombed which resulted in the deaths of more than 160 people, mostly children, as well as the fact this war is being supported within the US military by Christian Nationalists attempting to fulfil a Biblical prophecy, which will spur the second coming of Christ. Yep, that's in the mix too. Joe Augustin can't be with us this week, and Richard Busellato can only join for the first 45 minutes, so we are bringing in a former guest as co-host this week, Oliver Gill. Ollie is also keen to discuss the UK rivers raw sewage issue, which has gotten a lot of attention, following the release of the new drama/documentary: "Dirty Business". It will be great to get a local insight on this critical issue. It's definitely been an intense week for all of us, as we come to terms with another war, but this one has the potential to end in absolute global calamity. Join us as we bring the story together as much as we can. It's all happening this Friday 6th March 2026, at 7am UK, 8am EU, 11am UAE, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST. Every day, multiple stories all deserving major breaking news status, and because of that intensity we risk what matters most getting lost, and what doesn't matter gets the attention. That's why this time is so challenging, but there is a design to the overwhelm. It's strategic and powerful (flood the zone with shit, right?), so we have to keep on top of it. It's just the four of us for our first show, and what are we going to discuss? Well, what do you want to know about? We've got a climate on steroids with a “Hot House Earth” predicted, especially with the next El Nino on the horizon. We've seen the shenanigans in Venezuela, Greenland and Iran, elections in Japan, Bangladesh and Thailand amongst others, a stock rally, Bitcoin tanking, and the US Department of War looking to punish AI companies that don't want to play the game. We've got space junk with hundreds of thousands of new satellites confirmed for launch, Mexico exploding after El Mencho was killed this week, the Board of Peace, Trump bowing out of the EPA, incidentally just when the link between Alzheimer's and pollution has been scientifically quantified, Brazil ending it's moratorium on deforestation for farmland, Tourette's in the spotlight, misogyny too, and a global reckoning for those linked to Epstein, which is not happening in the US… yet. We didn't even mention AI evolution, which is going off the charts, in every possible way. All that and more as we kick off the show for 2026, where you'll get a comprehensive recap of the year so far. Send us a textOn 27th November, ten of the UK's leading experts briefed an invite-only audience of 1,250+ politicians and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media about the implications of the planetary crisis on health, food, national security and the economy. Organizers said the climate and nature crisis is a multi-pronged emergency that will impact all aspects of British life, from national security to food security. Speakers presented the latest evidence, clarifying what is at stake, and outlined actionable solutions. Our guest was in attendance, reporting on the event, and she is going to share her biggest take-aways.  So, we will spend our first hour focussed on this (which is relevant globally), and then it'll be time to get into the news. Following on from last week, the extreme weather catastrophe across Asia finally received the global attention it deserved as the magnitude of the disaster became apparent – and we still don't know final numbers – while in Japan, a disturbing move has the world on edge, so we'll dig into what that's all about. In other news, in the US we have a war criminal without a war, Thames Water is being sued as more people become sick due to pollution, nine million birds are dead due to Bird Flu (future pandemic?), the Ukraine peace plan went awry maybe, the ocean is about to release a massive heat “burp” so what does that mean (?), and more will be discussed as the news never stops. Our very special guest is Monica Piccinini, a freelance journalist focused on environmental, health and human rights issues. She is also a recent award winner, clinching The Sustainability, Environmental Achievement, and Leadership (SEAL) Award – which recognizes her work for top-notch investigative reporting! Monica covers the world, but one area she works tirelessly to cover are issues surrounding the Amazon rainforest, where she exposes the state and corporations' that are destroying it, their human rights violations against its indigenous peoples, and how this crucial ecosystem is central to the survival of us and the planet. Originally from Brazil but based in the UK, Monica covers issues from around the world, so we are absolutely thrilled she is joining us this week. Another show you can't miss, where you'll not only get a front row seat to the UK's national emergency briefing, but also our unique insights into all the other news blaring across our screens every day. Understanding what is going on in our environment really requires understanding the whole global system. There are very few people who can grasp that complexity, which is I why I follow climate systems scientists. They help me weave it all together and make sense of the interconnections. However, as I am in the Global South, one of the limitations is the specifics for this region and seeing the disastrous impacts of climate escalations in Asia just in the last week, we must better understand what is coming next, so we can prepare and adapt. There are many reasons for the lack of specifics on the Global South, particularly the fact the narrative and media coverage is controlled and dominated by the English-speaking wealthy world, so grasping this whole story requires a lot of work. There are some areas that will remain extremely challenging, and for many countries/regions in the Global South, the challenge is a lack of data. Just that is a challenge we must overcome. To help me make more sense of what the Global South will face in the coming years, I asked Jan Umsonst if he'd join me to have a broad conversation about the region. He is the Earth System Nerd and an earth system consultant, regularly discussing the fact we are now leaving the age of natural variability and entering the age of forced variability, where we will start experiencing the synchronization of feedbacks.  Sit back and enjoy a far-ranging conversation, which is honest, and empowering, with the clear message - we must act now. Thank you so much Jan! We are guest-free this week, which provides an opportunity to dig deeper into some of the topics we've been covering this season, and the biggest focus is on money… well, the economy more broadly. We always discuss the economy in relation to what's happening in the news, going as deep as we can, because we know it's the wider implications of what's going on that really matter when it comes to the economy – debt, climate impacts, and more. It's a conversation requiring nuance, something we seem allergic to these days. We'll talk about Cop30 and the lack of funding promised to developing countries, along with why it's never going to happen. The UK had a new budget announced this week, and no one is excited about it, so what is happening? Crypto has been falling apart and the global economy has been on the edge of collapse for months – what's really going on? Is it more than the AI bubble? We'll also talk about other big issues in the news, like the flood devastation happening right now in Southeast Asia, with Vietnam expecting Typhoon Verbena to strike this Friday, after already suffering three extreme flooding events in three weeks. Hundreds are dead across the region, with millions displaced, and more rain is expected. Why is it so extreme? Well according to experts, two major climate systems - La Niña and a negative Indian Ocean Dipole - have combined, supercharging rainfall across the region. We are going to talk about food security, the growing health and financial impacts of heat extremes, why poorer nations keep investing in coal and industries that kill their people, and Australia is firmly entering its hot season with record seasonal temperatures. We'll ponder if peace will happen in Ukraine after Russia wrote the plan (?), delve more into the big picture on AI, and of course, a show wouldn't be a show without discussing US political shenanigans. Whatever is happening in the world that matters, we'll be sure to cover it. Come and join us, so you can get caught up on the news that matters, this Friday 28th November 2025, 7am UK, 8am EU, 11am UAE, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST. The tech broligarchy is getting a lot of attention, as is AI and the potential of a massive bubble. There are many discussions relevant to the planetary crisis, and one very important topic is ecotheology. I decided to interview my friend, Dale Lature, who has studied this important topic for a long time; together we explored its definition, significance, his inspirations and mentors, and the challenges it faces. It's a wide-ranging discussion, full of references for anyone wanting to research further; however, it was the challenges in the US Christian community that really stood out as a massive obstacle to overcome. The politicization of religion is something those of us not in the US have been trying to get our heads around. Education is a force for good that lifts societies out of poverty, yet education systems are failing around the world, especially in wealthy, democratic countries. One area showing real impact - not just on students, but on the communities schools serve - is effective community engagement programs. These programs succeed not only because of what students are doing - charity, social justice, service, or community engagement - but when they inspire students to become lifelong champions of social justice and community engagement. What does a successful model look like? How does it work in action? What difference is it making? How could our global education system benefit from this approach? You'll learn this and a whole lot more. After that, it's time for the news, and there's a lot going on as usual. The US has seen a legitimate “Blue Wave” across the country which has created a media feeding frenzy, the same region in the Philippines devastated by an earthquake recently has now been flattened by Typhoon Kalmaegi, with a new Super Typhoon brewing behind it. Right now Vietnam is in the typhoon's path after it intensified again, and Thailand is expecting torrential rainfall over the weekend from the storm too. Beyond extreme weather events, we had a walk-out from Miss Universe over disrespectful comments, the saga of the British Royals continues, and we'll know by Friday if Elon Musk gets his $1 trillion pay package. There's a lot more going on, but that's a flavour from the week so far.    Our education champion is Heidi Oxley-Whitnell, who is all about enabling students - through experiential learning and community engagement - to make a difference. Heidi has been the CAS (creativity, activity, service) and Experiential Learning Coordinator at UWC Thailand for nearly 10 years and is a regular award winner for her work. How's this? You agree with a friend to hike the trails of Northern Iraq, where the Kurdish communities live, and the next thing you know, you're helping run refugee camps in war torn countries. How does that happen? What was the experience like? Was there hope in the camps, or despair? And today, with the world drawing back on foreign aid, what does it mean for people who continue to need this help today? These are just some of the questions we'll cover with our very special guest. Of course, it's then time for the news. Hurricane Melissa has been keeping our attention since last week and meteorologists are blown away by this storm – why? We've had a lot of action in Asia, with Trump dancing in Malaysia to a “guided walk” in Japan, then Bill Gates said climate change isn't so bad, Israel continues to bomb Gaza and somehow the peace deal remains in place, we have warships off Venezuela, Elon Musk's foray into “politics” lost Tesla one million car sales so is he really worth a trillion (?), the Dutch are going to the polls, and there's so much more. We'll be up to date by Friday, that's a promise. Our accidental humanitarian and very special guest is Tom Badham-Thornhill, a humanitarian operations expert turning to energy, climate resilience, community systems and sustainable impact. He's worked as a humanitarian leader for over a decade managing large-scale emergency operations in conflict and crisis settings, including refugee camps hosting up to 80,000 people in Iraq, Bangladesh, Yemen and Lebanon. Humanitarian work is challenging at any time, but more so today. Come and be inspired by someone who has been in the middle of this very important work, and understands what it takes to be successful, as well as why it continues to be important. We are all looking forward to meeting Tom, so do join us, and get caught up on the news while you're at it, this Friday 31st October 2025, 7am UK, 8am EU, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST. We have two guests and two topics this week, starting with sustainable tourism from a Pakistan perspective, and then we are going to dig into the importance of community building as we face the years ahead. Community is critical and it can be something you focus on in your local neighbourhood, or perhaps you prefer to be part of a global digital community? Whatever it is, it can be an anchor for the challenges we face in the years and decades ahead. We will also be digging into the main news, discussing our take-aways from the No Kings march across the United States, how climate change is already having an impact on food availability and inflation, France's economic woes and the possibility it's the canary in the coalmine for Europe, where we are with world peace, maybe we'll talk about “Prince” Andrew (maybe we won't bother), the White House in ruins, and a whole lot more. Let's be honest, it's Wednesday, so who knows what else will happen between now and the show this Friday? Joe won't be with us this week, but we have two super special guests, Sadaf Khalid, a global consultant in sustainable tourism and the CEO of Walnut Travel Tours & Consultancy. Sadaf is all about building partnerships and cooperation on the Sustainable Development Goals in Pakistan and across the world. A true champion for the environment. Our second guest is Oliver Gill, a stonemason who spends his working hours fixing crumbling buildings in the UK – a noble trade. But he is also co-founder of The Climate Crisis Club, a global community that gathers on X every Saturday to talk all things climate and everything it entails. To be part of a group like this comes with a lot, including the emotional intensity of facing the issue of our time, as well as coordinating across such a diverse group of passionate people. It's going to be awesome, so do join us, and get caught up on the news while you're at it, this Friday 24th October 2025, 8am UK, 9am EU, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. Would you give up your work and daily connection with loved ones to raise awareness for the health of our planet? Our very special guest has done just that, living and travelling in a solar-powered bus since November 2020, embarking on an 11-year Energy Swaraj Yatra, journeying across India until 2030. He has pledged not to return home during this entire period, devoting every single day to the cause of climate correction. The Yatra is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's principles, and it is both a living laboratory and a mass outreach platform. Now in its fifth year, he has covered 70,000 km, delivered over 1,650+ talks, and helped more than two million people become energy literate. Wow huh? After that inspiring story of action, we'll dig into the news. We are going to discuss the peace deal in Gaza and how we've all responded to it, make sense of the global economy as a lot of volatility is shaking the markets for multiple reasons, and we're going to discuss the first official environmental tipping point – coral collapse - as well as what it means, along with the latest in AI – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Of course, between now and then, more news will break in our crazy world, and we'll make sure it's covered too. We are thrilled to welcome our bus driving action hero, Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki. He is a climate action leader, innovator, and educator, who has dedicated his life to tackling the climate crisis through lifestyle change and energy independence. He recently resigned from IIT Bombay to focus 100% on tackling the climate emergency and is relentless in his drive to spark a transformation in people's minds toward climate action and sustainability, with a commitment to helping us all embrace mindful consumption and energy independence. He's recently launched Finite Earth Movement (FEM) with a vision to transform finite living into a global mass movement, and his goal is to mobilize one billion people worldwide for climate action by 2027. FEM is rooted in a simple truth: on a finite planet, consumption itself must be finite. So do join us, this is definitely going to be inspiring and get caught up on the news while you're at it, this Friday 17th October 2025, 8am UK, 9am EU, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. The Sh*t Show: a millennial view of the polycrisis

What is the polycrisis or meta crisis? It's the simultaneous occurrence of several catastrophic events all happening at the same time, and well, you don't have to look far to know that this is the time we are living in. The implications of the polycrisis are often overwhelming when it comes to understanding what comes next, but there's a necessary longer-term view to consider, so it's time to get a millennial perspective. We'll be looking through the lens of the world this generation inherited, what they have witnessed, including institutional decay, and we'll look ahead to the future, with the polycrisis predicted to expand and get worse. An important insight for GenX and Boomers to take on board. Within the mix of the polycrisis, we'll discuss whatever that was in the US with Hegseth and Trump speaking to the generals, as well as the US government shut down, the Philippines has been hit by a 6.9 earthquake in its Cebu province, more than 90 people are buried under a school collapse in Indonesia, Typhoon Bualoi has killed several and displaced thousands in Vietnam, there's more GenZ protests this time in Morocco, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant is in a critical state, the Gaza peace proposal is now in play, there's a new Covid variant in town, our world is hurtling towards climate disaster and our politicians are doing what (?), and of course, the most important news (being ironic here) Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated. We are thrilled to welcome our youngest guest so far (we think), Alexander (Sasha) Thilmany. Sasha has worked at the US Department of State, initially as an intern and later as an administrative assistant. Before this, he was a program assistant at the Foreign Service Institute, and he also worked as a research associate at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. He is passionate about U.S. foreign policy, researching China and Asia, has worked in anti-corruption and more broadly, as a technical policy analyst. A bright man with a bright future, Sasha is now in Singapore, working out his next chapter. A view worth listening to. So do join us, get caught up on the news, get inspired into action, this Friday 3rd October 2025, 8am UK, 9am EU, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. Do you ever think about the inheritance we are leaving our children and grandchildren? Not monetary, but qualities like clean air, access to clean water, healthy food and a safe and nurturing environment to live in. OR are we on the path to guaranteeing them the opposite, where it will be hard to breath, too hot to go outdoors, food insecurity and famine will be rampant, water shortages a common experience, and we could go on. None of us want that, but the decisions we make today, and the actions we take right now, matter, and so we're going to look that future in the eye and call on all adults to get involved in any way we can. Local action does result in global impact. After that, it's time to dig into the news, and of course, unless you live under a rock, we had Trump's speech at the UN, Super Typhoon Ragasa hitting China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and soon Vietnam and Laos, Tylenol has been blamed for Autism, the Rapture… did it happen (?), the fact we're getting dumber and those Meta glasses ain't going to help, and of course, the fight for free speech continues. That's just a start when it comes to the weeks' news, and we never get through it all, but we give it a go. We are absolutely delighted to welcome Joseph Masembe who hails from Uganda, and he's the CEO and founder of Little Hands Go Green, as well as Regional Director, Climate Change Advocacy, East Africa. A passionate advocate for our children's future, Joseph launched Little Hands Go Green in 2012, as a civil society organization, with a goal to nurture and empower children as the main drivers of environmental conservation education in their schools, homes and communities. Joseph wants to foster a deep-rooted love and passion for the environment among children through engaging and entertaining activities, and get this, they have planted 872,000 trees since they started – amazing! When it comes to anything to do with sustainability, it's often the elephant in every room, but for our special guest, organic waste was the biggest elephant that needed tackling where he is living - Bali, Indonesia. Most people are aware Bali has a waste problem (viral videos are everywhere), but most of the focus is on non-organic waste, like plastics. Would you be surprised to learn that organic waste is 72% of the waste flow in Bali? Think of all the methane and leachates being released from that.Of course, in the second half, we're going to get stuck into as much of the world news as we can cover, including a week in - where are we on the Charlie Kirk murder and all its ramifications? The fight for freedom of speech (or lack of), Trump's UK visit, Australia's National Climate Risk Assessment report, the war in Gaza and further abroad, Tik Tok's new owners, Roger Hallam's answer to democracy – Sortition – is it worth considering (?), the cost of Europe's summer of extreme heat, Russia's aggressions into NATO states, and a whole lot more. To help us dig into our theme, and all the news, we are thrilled Tobias Wilson said yes to joining us. Tobias has gone from being a major player in the marketing and creative industry in Asia, to founding Shiva Industries, a Bali-based business, specializing in Aerobic Digestion solutions and Organic Waste Management systems, designed to transform organic waste into valuable resources. It's been something hasn't it?Where do we even start? The US moving towards an authoritarian state might be a good place, and at least we know Trump is still alive now. Or should we focus on the surge in anti-immigration protests around the globe, bringing some common sense to the discussion? Gaza and Ukraine continue, with forever wars on the horizon, and is China making its play to be the world leader? The climate emergency continues to accelerate with scientists getting increasingly urgent in their message, and of course, AI maintains its place in the headlines – the good, the bad and the ugly. We also have the global economy in the mix of everything that's going on and understanding that is critical. How do we get ready for such an uncertain future – whether its losing our jobs to AI or societal collapse due to geopolitics, climate calamities, war, or more? It's a complex time, people are seriously struggling with their mental health, the far-right movement is on the rise, and even if we don't acknowledge it, something has got to give. It's our last show of the season (we'll return first Friday in September) so don't miss out, because we are going to cover a VERY important topic - what it means to be pro-human in a world accelerating towards machine dominance across all aspects of our lives. The leaders of the tech world (aka the tech bros) are saying things like AI will change the world more than anything in the history of mankind, while also acknowledging they don't know what it means for the future of their own children. These very same people ushered in the social media revolution, which has degraded our democracies across the world, with mis- and disinformation ruling the airwaves, authoritarianism and populism on the rise everywhere, so surely we should all be a little sceptical and ask the question - can we trust them? Should we?They are already billionaires, with AI predicted to make them trillionaires, but where do we fit into this story – you and I? For the majority of us, the speed of technological change is happening at a pace we can't comprehend (which is not surprising when those designing it can't understand it either), but what does it mean to us (jobs, income, security), not to forget the bigger environmental impact if we keep draining the natural world of water and energy to “feed” these machines. It all leaves you wondering - where are we headed, exactly? To help us dig into this really interesting topic as we untangle the polycrisis, we are delighted to welcome Neal Moore, who is a content strategy and storytelling consultant at Moore's Lore Media, a pro-human writer and podcaster, and he is a writer, producer and actor for Pretty Neat Productions, which develops and produces original English IP for audio dramas, film and TV in Southeast Asia. Neal has done some really cool stuff, so you are guaranteed to enjoy listening to his point of view. After all of that, we'll dig into the on-going sh*t show that is the world news, from the extreme flooding events in the US and Nepal/China, extreme heat deaths across Europe in June and early July based on a rapid attribution study, bee die-offs in the US, the environmental impacts of rare earth metal processing in China, BRICS plus US tariffs, Australia's devastating algal bloom, as well as much more, but yeah nah, we'll leave Epstein out of it, because it's being done-to-death!  Come and join us Friday 11th July 2025, 8am UK, 9am EU, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. There's a lot going on in the news as always, but at least it didn't feel like World War III was going to start this week! But a lot still happened, with Thailand's constitutional court suspending Prime Minister Shinawatra, Trumps ‘big beautiful' bill passing its next stage (but what does it really mean for the global economy?), and the extreme ‘heat dome' which was sitting over North America moving over Europe, with heat deaths reported, and European countries recording the hottest June temperatures on record.Meanwhile Downunder, people living along the NSW Coast have been hunkering down for a ‘Bomb Cyclone', massive floods have hit from Italy to the Himalayas, and Japan is bracing for a megaquake, as a decades-old manga prediction by reclusive artist Ryo Tatsuki is due Saturday, 5th July 2025. The biggest news, you probably didn't hear, is happening in the great Southern Ocean - should we be concerned?Amid all the climate calamities, one of the most important risks we face is - how do we ensure our food supply? Cathy has more than 20 years' experience in impact leadership and green innovation, including eight in the c-suite of cutting-edge green start-ups, and diverse experience in corporate and NGO leadership roles. We are excited to hear what she has to say. Then it will be back to the news. In Europe, NATO has been in full swing, and the language of diplomacy has been incredibly sycophantic. The Great Leader of the US is being acknowledged for ending the nuclear threat from Iran and allies have (mostly) made a commitment to increase defence spending to 5% - but not until 2035, and guess who won't be alive then? No doubt about it, the language of diplomacy has entered a new era, but there's a deeper message in that. It's a surreal time, where the only thing that appears to have been obliterated is the truth, with the politicization of intelligence a huge threat to all of us. But that's not the only news – we'll talk about the diplomatic dance going on between India and Pakistan, Thailand could be on its way to another coup, and Oxfam's latest report states the wealth of the world's 3,000 billionaires surged by $6.5tn in real terms over the past decade. Bezos/Sánchez wedding is so in-tune with our times, no? Come and join us Friday 27th June 2025, 8am UK, 9am EU, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST. We had a deep and meaningful discussion last week with Michael Haupt which left us all very reflective, but we didn't have time to discuss the main news and the escalation continues, with spin rooms operating at full throttle. Immediately after our last show, the #NoKings protests in America overtook our newsfeeds, while the ‘big birthday bash' was shocking in so many ways. Do we even remember that now?Because since then, a much wider war with Iran is playing out before our eyes, and we still don't know what the US will do, or if Trump will decide to get involved, bypassing Congress. Other leaders are stepping in to join the battle, but citizens of the US and its allies are not supportive of more war in the Middle East, in fact, it is creating a split within the MAGA faithful. The outcome is still up in the air and could change before we even go live with the show, and when you factor in the wider implications with China and Russia, the risks are very grave, not just for Iran, but for the whole world. Meanwhile, the world's top scientists are warning that we have only three years left to limit warming to 1.5°C, with the reduction in fossil fuels needed to achieve this a staggering 80%. Meanwhile an intense heatwave is gathering pace across the Northern Hemisphere, with the UK now predicting the possibility of a 46.6°C (116F) day, a temperature the UK is not ready for. Tourism season is also changing, especially in Southern Europe, as even the perception it being too hot turning people away – which will have significant impacts economically for Europe.Meanwhile, Mexico is bracing for Hurricane Erick – the first of the season, children born today will live in a world with 50% less food than is available today, seal numbers in Antarctica have dropped more than 50% since the 1970s, the G7 started off as a fiasco with more rumours of Trump's physical health circulating, traditional media is in free fall, the “Nimbus” strain of Covid is growing rapidly with huge percentages of the population not maintaining vaccinations, and the rapid move in AI development brings risks and opportunities. It's a big moment in time, and we're going to pull it all together, to try and make sense of what's going on, as well as what requires our attention. If you want a top-level view, that's what the show is all about, so why not come and have a listen and get involved in the conversation? We'd love to have you. We have an exciting show lined up, where we will go big picture on how we can cut through information overload, understand the "Great Convergence", identify the "350-year empire cycle" currently playing out, connect the dots between seemingly unrelated global events, identify the "hubris syndrome" in real-time, decode AI-driven influence campaigns that shape public opinion and distract from deeper systemic shifts, understand how to develop "future-ready" decision-making skills, and understand a global currency reset and what it means for your privacy, wealth, and economic future. A BIG topic, but that is the nature of the polycrisis – and it needs to be understood by interlinking all the challenges and interpreting what that bigger story means to all of us. We will of course discuss the latest news that matters, from the LA riots, to the Madleen, why US RFK Jr removing all 17 members of a committee that issues official government recommendations on immunisations matters to all of us, the World Banks latest report, and more. To help us discuss all of this, we are delighted to welcome Michael Haupt as our very special guest, the creator of NEXUS 2030. He is an independent, cross-disciplinary systems researcher and Strategic Foresight Practitioner known for connecting the dots between global finance (like CBDCs and private stable coins), policy shifts (like the Pandemic Agreement, Climate Goals, Mar-a-Lago Accord), and emerging technologies (like AI, sixth generation warfare). It's time to get The Sh*t Show on the road, with a goal to untangle the polycrisis and make sense of the complexity. We'll look at the polycrisis from all angles, including the vast issues under the umbrella of the planetary crisis, geopolitics and war, technology risks, societal collapse, mis- and disinformation, propaganda, lack of trust in institutions, economic risks, inequality and poverty, equality, all the way through to the global mental health crisis – just as a taster. This show joins forces between The Know Show and Climate Courage, and while we appreciate some think the “swearword” inappropriate, the truth is - we ARE in a sh*t show, and facing up to this time is important. The show will take different elements of both shows, with three core discussion areas, and in our kick off episode, we are going to discuss what's really keeping the sh*t show on the road. Is it business in all its forms, OR is the “forcing” coming from governments and Boomers in OECD countries? Our second topic is AI. Everyone is either excited by it or terrified by it, but the societal implications are becoming clearer – what does it mean to us and how can we prepare? Equally, can earth deliver this promise? Our final topic is the planetary crisis. We'll discuss recent news and research, explain why it's important and what we can do about it. All three areas will have actions we can take, whether as individuals, societies or globally. We're not just going to focus on problems, because if we're not offering solutions, we're not helping. There'll be a lot more to discuss, but this is the core focus for this week. Why not come and have a listen and get involved in the conversation? We'd love to have you. We started The Know Show in August 2021 and who knew we'd still be going after all this time? But we have kept going, because understanding the complexity of the times we're living through is important, so we can work out how to move forward. With that said, one of us is moving on, and that is Tim Wade, who's embarking on some very important work, and this week, we say goodbye to our colleague and dear friend. We might also have a rebrand to announce. Stay tuned. Of course, we'll discuss the news too and there is a lot to discuss, from TACO Man to global heating predictions for the next five years. That's just the start. We also have Musk out and his rockets exploding, a massive glacier has collapsed in the Swiss Alps, the oceans are getting darker, Hegseth is at it again, and we watch the devastating impact of the war on Gaza, with babies and children dying from famine - even Germany has had enough. When will it end?The cost of the recent floods in Australia is starting to be understood, with hundreds of properties deemed uninhabitable and the event declared an “Insurance Catastrophe,” as many of those impacted are also still recovering from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. King Charles was in Canada, European farmers are calling the alarm on crop failures, the 2025 Hurricane Season is predicted to be above normal, and allies have lifted restrictions on the use of long-range weapons for Ukraine, as further reports detail a million Russians have died so far in the war.  We know, it's intense and there is always a lot to take on board, which is why we are committed to doing this show, to help you make sense of all the noise, and sometimes, just by being together every week helps us make sense of it too. Climate Courage: getting past powerlessness

When we speak to people about the planetary crisis, the most common response is a feeling of powerlessness. Many tell us they don't know what to do or where to start, which often means not doing anything at all, and this just adds to the feeling of powerlessness. This is a growing challenge across the world, as more and more people become aware of the crisis we are in - from Taree in Australia facing catastrophic flooding, to millions suffering unliveable heat in India, Pakistan and Iran, to extreme heat events in Iceland, or across to Brazil where more floods have destroyed crops which will ripple out and have a major impact across the globe. In the face of so many extreme weather events, it's hard not to feel hopeless and powerless. But there is much we can all do, and the middle class claiming our power in this time of geopolitical chaos is probably the best way to help our mental health and the planet. Whatever we feel about the future of our species, it's time we try with all our might to overcome - for our families and all life on earth. However, we must also acknowledge the severity of the challenges we face. We do not have an easy journey ahead, so developing our resilience is critical. This is how we will start the show, with clear actions and questions we should be asking ourselves, and then we will discuss the major news around all aspects of the planetary crisis, including, but not limited to, the latest on the AMOC, the fact 1.5°C of warming is already too hot for the polar ice caps, global oil demand – is it increasing or decreasing?, Planetary Nationalism and why that might not be a great idea, the catastrophic tornados in the US including a lack of FEMA support, food security and more. We always aim to cover a lot and never make it through all the news, but we give it a go, so why not come and join us, Friday 23rd May – 8am UK, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST – and work out your steps, so you can stop feeling powerless.Climate Courage is a livestream, held every two weeks and is co-hosted by Andrea T Edwards, Dr. David Ko and Richard Busellato. Are you guffawing a lot at the news these days? The hypocrisy of it all? Whether it's the “gift” of a $400 million luxury plane to Donald Trump (which will cost $1 billion to get off the ground), the idea of white Afrikaners as refugees, or even the Pope's style of Christianity too woke according to MAGA, there's definitely a lot to guffaw at these days. The hypocrisy is quite stunning, so what are we to make of it all? Is it good for the world, or is it the beginning of a new and confusing dark age? Meanwhile, Trump and the CEOs of America's most prominent companies are signing major deals in the Middle East, mainly in defense, aviation, energy, mining and artificial intelligence, sanctions on Syria have been lifted, Netanyahu is out in the cold (or is he) and deep sea mining is going to happen in order to counter China's mineral dominance – a “deep sea gold rush” is on the way – but at what cost to life on earth?Beyond the US and the shenanigans happening on a daily basis, Africa is being hit extremely hard by climate change, children born in 2020 will face 'unprecedented lifetime exposure' to climate extremes, extreme weather events in Australia (only two events) will cost insurers nearly $1 billion so far in 2025, Putin isn't going to Turkey for peace talks, and bombs continue to fall on women and children in Gaza. Can the world even survive it?On the other side of the world, in Portugal, Spain, as well as part of France and Belgium, we saw the grid go out and it was chaos. There are many interesting aspects to this story, but the most interesting was the “facts” being shared (and believed) before the engineers even had time to understand what actually happened! Climate Courage: the Pope was a climate activist

This week the world has come together to mourn the death of Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday, age 88. As speculation mounts about who will replace him, and whether they will be a reformer or traditionalist, we want to reflect on Pope France's contribution to the climate movement and the change he drove around the world, not just across the 1.4 billion Catholics he led, but beyond to other religions and cultures too. Pope Francis was an unapologetic environmental advocate, and he used his papacy to raise awareness about the critical need to curb greenhouse gas emissions. While many believed he shouldn't discuss it, because it was considered ‘political,' the Pope said that climate change was a spiritual issue, and he clearly laid out the consequences of not tackling it in his 2015 “Laudato Si” - the first-ever papal encyclical focused solely on the environment. In it, he discussed climate change, loss of biodiversity to water scarcity, as well as societal breakdown, and how the poorest would suffer the most. A follow-up “Laudato Si” was published in 2023, and in this, Pope Francis called for a broad change in the “irresponsible lifestyle connected with the Western model.” So, we must ask - did we listen? Because global emissions have kept rising, including record emissions released in 2024. One positive sign of the Pope's contribution is environmental leaders from around the world acknowledging the impact he had in waking the world up to the dangers we face, leaving a legacy firmly entrenched in the climate movement. The Pope was a climate activist. We had two very special guests join us. Clare Westwood, who is a powerhouse in the climate movement, and regional director of the Roman Catholic Episcopal Commission for Creation Justice of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, and the Co-Founder and Executive Chair of Laudato Si' Asia – a Coalition for Culture of Care, Resilience and Ecological Justice (LSIA-CAREJ). Dr Lorna Gold is the Executive Director of the Laudato Sì Movement. Lorna's focus is on supporting the team at a time of significant change, amplifying the intersection of faith and environmental stewardship. Since 2015, LSM's team's dedication has cultivated a global network advancing ecological conversion. Dr Gold's tenure as Interim CEO at FaithInvest fortified her resolve to align faith-based investments with environmental and social sustainability, pioneering strategies that resonate with shared values for a healthier planet. We'll be discussing the Pope's legacy and a lot more of the environmental news we think you should be aware of, including the economic and geopolitical situation the world is currently in, so come and join us, 25th April, 8am UK, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST. Climate Courage is a livestream, held every two weeks and is co-hosted by Andrea T Edwards, Dr. David Ko and Richard Busellato. It's been hard to have a break from the show with so much going on in the news, but our sanity is important, as is spending time with family. That said, we are very happy to be back this week, and of course, we are going to talk about the tariff battle between the US and China, digging into the question – who is going to win? If you're in the US, you might have a different view, but out here in Asia, we see things very differently and we're looking forward to exploring it. No question, the news has been relentless, and we will talk about coping with the onslaught, but to give you a flavour for topics, we have to ask - has the US already gone fully fascist? Ignoring a Supreme Court ruling, attempting to control universities, attacking law firms who don't comply, axing the wire service from the Whitehouse coverage pool, as well suing any media organisations reporting on topics the Trump administration doesn't like, all the way through to pondering whether it's legal to send US citizens to El Salvadorian prisons… to name a few, but it doesn't sound very Democratic, does it? But what does it all mean to us – living beyond the US? The economy is obviously top of mind, as is world peace, but how do we understand this within the context of the even more alarming research from Copernicus' Climate Change Service and James Hansen's latest paper on accelerated warming? Andrea T. Edwards, CSP, The Digital Conversationalist, is a globally award-winning B2B communications professional, who works with the world's largest companies on the transformation needed to maximize business growth in our digital future. A change agent, provocateur, author, passionate communicator, and social leader. Andrea is all about helping businesses understand how they can empower employees to delight customers, grow personal career opportunities, and build brand success. Andrea's book – Uncommon Courage – is a deeper reflection on life, plus an invitation to courage, so we can tackle the biggest issues the world is facing, together. Her first book ‘18 Steps to an All-Star LinkedIn Profile' is on two Book Authority listings as the ‘100 Best LinkedIn Books of All Time' and ‘22 Best New LinkedIn eBooks To Read In 2021 and 2022.' In this episode, Dean Newlund and Andrea Edwards discuss:Trusting your intuition What happens when we ignore intuitionFocusing on the solution Hearing your own voice again Key Takeaways:It's important to pay attention to your intuition and to trust it. There is a sweet spot where intuition and data meet, but that opportunity doesn't always present itself. Ignoring intuition is ignoring a level of intelligence that's needed in this world. Intuition is a sensory faculty that sees, hears, and understands data that isn't easily uncovered by ordinary means. We live in a world that's saturated with many different kinds of fears. We should be able to listen to that fear but instead of feeling doomed, focus on how we could change what we need to in order to make things better. Find silence in your life. Turn off everything, and put the noise of the world out of your head so that you'll be able to hear your own voice again. This is where intuition starts and this is how you'll be able to cultivate it.   "Someone who's intuitive is a data gatherer in their own right." — Andrea Edwards See Dean's TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Andrea Edwards:  Website: www.andreatedwards.com | www.uncommon-courage.com  Twitter: https://twitter.com/AndreaTEdwardsLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andreatedwards/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDigitalConversationalistFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/uncommoncourageaninvitationInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/uncommonandrea/  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370

Andrea T Edwards always knew who she was, even as a teen. Strong and outspoken, she grew up in Australia and seemed to find a way of fighting for what's right in the world. Or, perhaps, how to make the world a little more right.   She found herself in tech and in PR and Content Marketing, but that's not what drives her. On today's podcast, we dove into Freedom and we discussed social issues in a way I haven't touched them here before.    Andrea shared her views on climate change and what we - all of us… each of us - need to do to make a difference for our children and children's children.     Here, we explore Uncommon Courage - here we look at how an electric car might seem like a great idea until you realize that you must own it for seven years in order to have a zero basis for the footprint it took to actually create it. That's one example Andrea T Edwards offered up.    Find her on all Social at @AndreaTEdwards and at www.AndreaTEdwards.com Look up her work at www.Uncommon-Courage.com as well
