In this episode of Coming Clean With Me, addiction specialist Elliott Wald interviews Andrew Barr, a comedian who turned his struggles with cocaine and alcohol addiction into material for his act. Andrew shares his journey from starting with alcohol in his 20s to escalating cocaine usage. He discusses the challenges of being a comedian in a bar environment and the pressure to drink. Andrew also talks about his two interventions and his decision to go to rehab. He shares how he balances finding humor in his past struggles while acknowledging the seriousness of addiction in his comedy routine. In this conversation, Andrew Barr discusses his experience with addiction and recovery. He talks about using cocaine with others and how he would use with different people to hide the extent of his addiction. Andrew and Elliott also discuss the role of lying and denial in addiction. They explore the concept of anticipation and how the thought of using can be more thrilling than actually using the drug.Contact Elliott directly on: 07875 751960 or find out more on his website: https://www.hypnosis-expert.com/ADDICTION/

We talk a lot on this show about the very, very first time that people went to queer spaces, and all of the wonder and dread that comes with that… But, there's another time that we don't celebrate enough (and which I think might actually be better), and that is going out in your late 20s… For most people this is a time when you're a little more settled, a bit less desperate (let's be honest), and you've started to ease into yourself and who you are… Which brings us to this week's episode… Filip Jeremic is a Canadian Comedian and Writer who moved to New York after finishing theatre school in Toronto in 2014. It was here that he lived that 'struggling artist' life, replete with skanky share-houses, taking any old job he could just to stay afloat, and dating older men so that they could buy him dinner .. We caught up to talk about The Rusty Knot in NYC, which technically wasn't a queer space, but became one on a particular day of the week (which you'll learn about when we get in to the chat). We talk about the joys of day drinking, the thrills of NYC, and I get slightly panicky and moralistic about free alcohol for some reason... Do you have any memories of The Rusty Knot, or maybe a bar or a club from your own scene that you want to share? Well, if you have please get in touch - I want to create the biggest online record of people's memories and stories - go to www.lostspacespodcast.com and find the section 'Share a Lost Space' and tell me what you got up to! The Podcast is proud to recommend it's first pet product, the URPower Automatic Pet Water Fountain. It's a plug in water fountain/filter to encourage cats to drink. Your cat might try to drink from the sink or bathtub because they prefer cold, fresh, flowing water. Prevent kidney failure later in life by not expecting your pet to drink from a dirty bowl on the floor with stale 2 day old, luke warm water.
