In this episode of ALL IN, I dive into a question I get asked all the time – what's the best age to give your kids a phone? I share my unconventional approach of giving all my kids their first iPhone at age 7 and the reasoning behind this decision. Initially, it was about safety and communication when they traveled alone to meet me on business trips, creating special one-on-one moments like visiting the Kennedy Space Center with my son or taking my daughter to see the dolphins at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. But the unexpected benefit has been the incredible memories captured from their perspective – videos and photos I never would have seen otherwise, giving me insight into their world. I address the judgment I've received from other parents and explain my philosophy of exposing kids to technology early in a controlled environment while maintaining important boundaries (like no devices at the dinner table and open-door policies for video calls with the opposite sex). Ultimately, this approach has helped my kids develop a healthy, mature relationship with technology that many adults still struggle with today.Connect:Connect with Rick: https://linktr.ee/mrrickjordanSubscribe & Review to ALL IN with Rick Jordan on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RickJordanALLIN

It's that time again - Time for another episode of the WGI Unleashed Podcast! Prepare to be inspired as we sit down with Lyndsey Duty, Environmental Scientist from Tampa, FL, in the latest episode of the WGI Unleashed Podcast! Join us as Lyndsey takes us on a journey through her love of nature, the path that led her to WGI, and her adventures beneath the waves. From Landlocked Beginnings to Underwater Explorer Lyndsey grew up in York, Pennsylvania, a small rural town surrounded by farmland, where she spent her childhood exploring the outdoors. Her fascination with nature began early, as she eagerly searched for salamanders, snakes, and bugs to collect in her “bug box” or spent time caring for box turtles in a pen her dad built. Despite being far from the ocean, her curiosity about wildlife planted the seeds for a lifelong passion. It wasn't until 2015, on a family vacation to Jamaica, that Lyndsey discovered her love for diving. She and her father completed their diving certifications together, and from that moment, her underwater adventures began. Now living in Florida, one of the best places for diving, Lyndsey takes every opportunity to explore the underwater world, marveling at rare sights like frogfish mating rituals and seahorses releasing eggs. A Career Born of Curiosity and Determination Lyndsey's journey to becoming an Environmental Scientist at WGI was shaped by her drive to work with wildlife and her academic pursuits. Initially drawn to veterinary medicine, she pivoted to biology, earning her degree with a marine science concentration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Her favorite courses, like invertebrate zoology and marine ecology, gave her hands-on experience studying marine life and deepened her love for the natural world. After graduation, Lyndsey's career began with an internship at Clearwater Marine Aquarium on their dive team, followed by a position at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection that allowed her to experience the regulatory side of Environmental Science. Eventually, she found her home at WGI, where she now combines her passion for the environment with impactful projects that leave her feeling fulfilled. Life at WGI and Beyond At WGI, Lyndsey is part of a team dedicated to environmental preservation and sustainable development. Her role allows her to make a difference by protecting the ecosystems she's loved since childhood. Outside of work, Lyndsey's enthusiasm for nature and wildlife continues through her diving adventures and ongoing quest to encounter unique marine species. Tune In for an Inspiring Dive! This episode is packed with stories of adventure, determination, and the joy of pursuing your passions. Don't miss Lyndsey Duty's remarkable journey and the insights she shares about her life and career. An IRONMAN triathlete and a five-time cancer survivor, Bill is a long-time volunteer at his local homeless shelter and an advisory board member of the Halo House Foundation. He joined me on Uncorking a Story to discuss his memoir Up for the Fight. Key Themes The Writing Process: The writing process is a journey that requires dedication and perseverance. Just like running a marathon mile by mile, writers must tackle each sentence and follow a “training plan” to reach their desired destination. Heartbreak and Resilience: Exploring themes of heartbreak and resilience can create compelling stories that will be helpful to others. By delving into the emotions and experiences of characters who have faced loss, writers can create engaging narratives that resonate with readers. Embracing the Unavoidable: When writing about sensitive topics like cancer, it is important to address them honestly and authentically. Feedback from publishers and editors can provide valuable insights and help shape the narrative to create a meaningful book. Turning Pain into Purpose: Finding one's purpose often involves introspection and seeking guidance from others. By sharing personal experiences and helping others who are going through similar challenges, writers can turn their pain into a purposeful endeavor. Collaboration and Support: The input and support of others, such as publishers and mentors, can greatly contribute to the success of a book. Engaging in conversations and seeking guidance from trusted individuals can help writers refine their ideas and bring their stories to life. Action Plan: https://jimharshawjr.com/ACTION Free Clarity Call: https://jimharshawjr.com/APPLY It's one thing to learn how to deal with constant pain and an incurable illness. It's another to turn that pain into purpose. Five-time cancer survivor Bill Potts has managed to do exactly that despite his 20-year (and still ongoing) battle. With his determination and lifestyle, you wouldn't have even known that Bill Potts has battled cancer five times. Yes, five times.  This episode of the Success Through Failure podcast is not about cancer. It's about how you can own your journey and turn the struggle, scars, and pain into purpose. And after all these years, Bill is currently undergoing treatment for the sixth time, with number seven just a few years away. His accidental expertise led him to author "Up for the Fight: How to Advocate for Yourself as You Battle Cancer―from a Five-Time Survivor," a book on how to navigate through life after a diagnosis. For many of us, decades of surgeries, treatment, recovery, isolation are just plain unbearable, and understandably so. And yet, Bill's ability to somehow respond even better each and every day is nothing short of extraordinary. Bill Potts is a motivational speaker, business leader, community builder, and dedicated father and husband. He has held executive positions at the IRONMAN Group and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and lectured on marketing at Tulane University, where he earned his MBA. He is currently the co-founder and a managing director of marketing agency Remedy 365 and an IRONMAN triathlete. The constriction of blood flow to her tail led to the loss of her flukes and marked the beginning of an extraordinary tale of survival and perseverance by a small cetacean the world would eventually come to know thanks to a Hollywood film. Winter, one of the bottlenose dolphins at Clearwater was found in the coastal waters of Florida in 2005. She was caught in a crab trap that resulted in the loss of her tail. Over the years, her team has worked tirelessly to provide unique enrichment for her unique morphology, including a silicone tail to help with her unnatural swimming patterns (tail moving side to side instead of up and down). Sadly, Winter recently passed away on November 11, 2021. Despite incredible life-saving efforts by Dr. Marquardt and experts from around the country who flew in to help her, Winter passed away from intestinal torsion. This episode was recorded a few weeks prior to her passing and tells her incredible rescue story from a veterinary perspective. Victoria-Rose Supper wears many hats as a social media strategist, publicist and musician and fully enjoys taking on more interests when she decides to accept her quirkiness as her strength.  Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me — What Happens When You Accept Being A Gifted Adult ▶️ Key points covered in this episode:  ✔️ Music is the easiest and the most honest way to connect with the world. Victoria shares her journey to knowing herself and how songs and melody became an outlet of her genius and a gift of healing.   ✔️ When you try and put yourself into a box -- that is such a lonely experience.  When we try to fit ourselves into something that we are not, we have to deny a part of us to do that, which is trying to cut off an arm and pretend we still have two. We're trained in society to follow and always ensure to be "coloring inside the lines". We see later in life that we don't need it.  ✔️  If you don't take a break, your body will take a break for you.  Give yourself time, flexibility, grow and love yourself through the process.  ✔️  What part of you do you continue to deny? Teach yourself to honor your body, mind and heart. Start living the life you are meant to live by embracing yourself fully. About Victoria-Rose Building people up has been a life-long passion of Victoria-Rose's, whether it's through music, in the classroom, or telling their stories on the internet.  She's been lucky enough to get to work with brands and public figures like Dianne A. Allen, With Understanding Comes Calm, the Dali Museum, Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater, and Clearwater Marine Aquarium as a social media strategist and publicist - but her biggest passion lies in music.  Having begged her parents to let her take piano at the age of five, Victoria-Rose decided from a very young age that music would always be a major part of her life. Although she predominantly performs as an atmospheric pianist, you can also find her playing in the orchestra pit and singing onstage in various theatres across the Tampa Bay Area.  While not managing social media accounts or making music, Victoria-Rose can be found learning coding for kicks, browsing local bookstores, planning theatre experiences, sampling local tea rooms, and wandering the streets of Downtown St. Pete.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN LOS ANGELES WITH KIDS Hollywood Walk of Fame is a great way to explore the city and there is no cost to see the stars! If you like to be active, you can hike up to the Hollywood sign. The hike takes around 45 minutes and is great for you kids. You will see a lot of locals that hike the trail. The Grauman's Chinese Theatre is in a great area where you will find street performers and other memorabilia. This theatre is used for a lot of movie premieres. You can spend an entire weekend in Santa Monica and Venice beach areas and you will not run out of things to do. The Santa Monica Pier is cool and has a Ferris wheel at the end, along with other rides and attractions. There is also an arcade and a bunch of restaurants to choose from. Venice Beach is a bit more accessible from the boardwalk and you can find restaurants actually on the beach. There is also a street called Abbot Kinney Blvd. where there is a lot of shopping and more restaurants to choose from. Like any other city you will find a lot of great museums and exhibits to visit. Including the LACMA, (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), which is free for anyone under the age of 17. Depending on where you are in LA, Disneyland is about an hour outside of LA, and is a big item for most kids to visit. BEST PLACE TO TAKE FAMILY PHOTO Laura recommends the Santa Monica pier as a good place to take a family photo, in front of the Ferris wheel. Also if you end up in Beverly Hills, anywhere with the Beverly Hills sign is a pretty iconic thing to have in your family photo.   TIP OF THE WEEK Go City Card has a program for Los Angeles package deals.
