Florian and Esther discuss the language industry news of the week, with DeepL becoming the first third-party translation app users can set as default on the iPhone, a position gained by navigating Apple's developer requirements that others like Google Translate have yet to meet.Florian and Esther examine RWS's mid-year trading update, which triggered a steep 40% share price drop despite stable revenue, healthy profits, and manageable debt.On the partnerships front, the duo covers multiple collaborations: Acclaro and Phrase co-funded a new Solutions Architect role, Unbabel entered a strategic partnership with Acclaro, and Phrase partnered with Clearly Local in Shanghai. Also, KUDO expanded its network with new partners, while Deepdub was featured in an AWS case study for its work with Paramount. Wistia partnered with HeyGen to launch translation and AI-dubbing features and Synthesia joined forces with DeepL, further cementing the trend of avatar-based multilingual video content. In Esther's M&A corner, MotionPoint acquired GetGloby to enhance multilingual marketing capabilities, while OXO and Powerling merged to form a transatlantic LSP leader. TransPerfect deepened its media footprint with two studio acquisitions from Technicolor, and Magna Legal Services continued its acquisition spree with Basye Santiago Reporting.Meanwhile, in funding, Linguana, an AI dubbing startup targeted at YouTube creators, raised USD 8.5m, and pyannoteAI secured EUR 8m to enhance multilingual voice tech using speaker diarization. The episode concluded with speculation about DeepL's rumored IPO, which could have broader implications for capital markets.
European oxo-alcohols and derivatives markets have been largely characterised by uncertainty and cautious market behaviour.Offtake from the coatings sector typically increases in spring, though sentiment is subdued as players struggle to plan amid ongoing global tariff uncertainty and ongoing wider economic weakness.Oxo-alcohols and butyl acetate reporter Marion Boakye speaks to acrylate esters editor Mathew Jolin-Beech and glycol ethers editor Cameron Birch about conditions down the oxo-alcohols value chain.
Richard Bowman tells the story of seeds salvaged from great uncle Eric's potting shed. The shed, perched on the Yorkshire moors had been untouched for 20 years when Richard was given the task of clearing it out. These seeds, stored in Oxo tins and match boxes, sparking memories of a bygone era, lead to a conversation with the Seed Detective, Adam Alexander, who discusses their potential for germination despite their advanced age. Richard's passion for gardening, is deep rooted and these seeds with their potential to put the colour back into the black and white photos of uncle Eric's garden are more precious than any everyday object. But the seeds have been 'asleep' for so many years, can he get them to grow? If Richard can get them to germinate - they will emerge into a very different climate. Adam, the Seed Detective, talks about why we should all save seeds and shares his knowledge about storing and growing seeds and the need to store them in cool , dry, dark conditions. Have great uncle Eric's seeds survived in the potting shed? Tupperware Brands Corp., the Orlando, Florida-based consumer goods company that produces the iconic line of containers, said it was seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after struggling to revitalize its core business and failing to secure a tenable takeover offer. Despite enjoying the same cultural ubiquity as Kleenex, Teflon, and other brands whose trademarked names are eponymous with entire product categories, Tupperware has suffered from waning sales, rising competition, and the limitations of the direct-to-consumer marketing model that once defined its success. The company said in its bankruptcy filing that consumers are shifting away from direct sales, which make up the vast majority of its sales. The company also cited growing public health and environmental concerns about plastic, internal inefficiencies that made it challenging to operate globally, and the “challenging microeconomic environment” of the last several years for its financial straits. Financial analysts criticized Tupperware in recent years for sticking with the direct sales model and failing to evolve with the times, most notably the large number of women who work outside the home. The company's sales improved some during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic when Americans were cooking and eating more at home. But overall sales have been in steady decline over the years due to rising competition from Rubbermaid, OXO, and even takeout food containers that consumers recycle. Vintage Tupperware also remains in demand as a collectible. Overall, sales for food storage supplies are up 18% compared to before the pandemic, according to figures from market research firm Circana. But despite that growth—and the ongoing popularity of food storage videos on social media—the troubles for Tupperware remained. Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData, explained that many consumers have migrated to less expensive home storage brands they can find at Target and Walmart. Amazon, the king of online retailers, also has its own line. Historically, Tupperware marketed its products as higher-quality durable items. But consumers who are looking for durability are interested in more sustainable materials, such as glass and stainless steel, said Jennifer Christ, manager of consumer and commercial research for the Freedonia Group, a market research company. “There's less brand loyalty than there used to be,” Christ said. Learn about OXO-001, a non-hormonal drug that increases pregnancy rates in women undergoing IVF or ICSI by enhancing embryo implantation. Also in this episode: patients with type 2 diabetes taking GLP-1 receptor agonists have a lower risk of certain obesity-associated cancers compared to those on insulin, though no significant reduction compared to metformin. Finally, the third story highlights research showing that smoking accelerates cognitive decline in memory and fluency, except for smokers with otherwise healthy lifestyles, who experience similar decline rates to non-smokers.

Dinamic, la aventura empresarial de tres hermanos que en la casa de sus padres iniciaron un sueño que llegó a cotas inimaginadas. In this episode, the Team talks about accessibility and design. Guest host Lauren DeMarks talks about user experience (UX) design and the spectrum of use cases for ensuring equitable experiences regardless of temporary or long-term physical disabilities. Show Notes:Overall, what does it mean to have accessible design? Lauren, would you like to give us a definition or overview? OVERVIEW Accessibility is the practice of making sure a product, environment or service can be used by everyone—however they encounter it.Including those with blindness/low vision, speech impairments, hearing impairments, cognitive & learning disabilities, motor/dexterity issues—accessible solutions make it so that these folks can actually meaningfully use the designs we create. But accessible design is important in ALL elements and design disciplines. Accessible design can also help people with various kinds of impairments (because you probably first think of permanent ones). Situational —walking in high heels, I'm at a loud concert. Temporary— my leg is broken, I have an ear infection and cannot hear. Permanent — I am paralyzed and cannot use my legs, I am blind. Accessible designs help EVERYONEAccessible design helps ALL people—even those without disabilities (taking 14 bags of groceries to my 7th floor apartment makes elevators look real nice). What's the difference between Accessibility and usability? Usability issues generally affect all users, both users with and without disabilities. All users have difficulty using a website. Accessibility issues occur solely for people with disabilities when they have difficulty using or accessing a website without problems. Accessible design makes spaces and designed products USABLE for EVERYONE, regardless of ability. Accessibility is important in ALL silos of designDigitalPrintPhysical EnvironmentalTeachingEtc. DigitalMainly consider solutions that benefit low-sight or low-hearing users. Cognitive impairments come into considerations too. Alt. text. Not just relying on color to communicate a message. Allowing for customization (text size, color-blind settings, etc) (we also see this in video games). Goes beyond just visual, and as a digital designer you need to have a tight partnership with your developers to make sure the code is accessible as well. Print design? Oxo vegetable peeler maBuilt environments & environmental design. Take mobility into account more than digital products. What things are considered in this area of design? Did you know that sandbox games have nothing to do with buckets and shovels, and the most famous of them is Minecraft? This revolutionary game was developed back in 2009 and was initially named Cave Game. Today, video games industry is worth a mindblowing $100 billion globally, and it all started in 1952 when a British professor developed OXO, a game similar to tic-tac-toe, for his university dissertation. Some famous game franchises that were launched in the second part of the 20th century are still around: Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda. Chris Tunstall co-founded A Bar Above with his wife Julia in 2013. They were early into the online content game with their YouTube channel and broke into the podcast space in 2014, the same year they released the first online Mixology Certification course. They've gone on to create several other classes on subjects like batching, syrups, infusions, and more.In 2016, they moved into the barware world, designing and manufacturing tools that looked great and more importantly, didn't fail (or “suck”, my word) during the middle of service. Chris pointed out that because of manufacturing faults, things as basic as the 1 oz mark on a jigger, can at times be off the mark by 20%, which is wild. And even worse, what if the 1 oz mark is spot on but the 1/2 or 1/4 oz mark is? Then one measurement may be off while the other is on.* Note: during our conversation, Chris mentioned that when he tested jiggers, Oxo was one of the worst offenders when it came to inaccurate measurement markings. Since I use them, I was alarmed. It appears that this error was corrected by the time I purchased mine. I weighed out a 1/4, 1/2, and an ounce worth of water in them in grams on my scale and they checked out. Do you know someone who might enjoy this? Please share it.He also explained to me why A Bar Above's original Boston shaker, a combination of a weighted and unweighted shaker, helps keep egg white from foaming out of the shaker, which is a problem I have faced for years.Another flaw, as Chris pointed out, is how pieces of metal are fused. A Bar Above welds things like their jiggers and shakers completely around the perimeter. Whereas others (see photos) are only spot welded. This makes it easier for them to break or for water to seep in and ultimately corrode the tool from the outside in.Chris also spent some time talking about the financial and social importance of bars cultivating regulars. They'll help keep your seats filled and often make your space more welcoming, and when a bartender is in the weeds, regulars can keep each other occupied as opposed to needing to lean on the bartender for social support. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit decodingcocktails.substack.com

“You shouldn't use aligners for Deep Bite cases”. FALSE! Click below for full episode transcript: Jaz's Introduction: Deep bites are really difficult to correct with aligners, right? Well, brothers and orthodontists Dr. Damon Taheri and Dr. Ramtin Tehari today on the podcast will be discussing how we can use specific protocols using aligners to improve the predictability of your deep bite corrections. [Jaz]I always thought that deep bite, if it's super deep bite you're better off going for fixed appliances because aligners will struggle with deep bite correction. But speaking to the Taheri brothers showed me that actually, you can do a lot when it comes to deep bite with aligners. Which attachments should you use and when? How should you stage your deep bite correction? And what about bite ramps? What are they? Why are they so effective in deep bite correction? And why you should use them with care? Hello Protruserati, I'm Jaz Gulati and you're listening to your favorite dental podcast. Thank you for joining me again. If you're new, welcome to the podcast. You picked an interesting one, a very orthodontics based one. I cover all sorts of dentistry over the last four years or so. So do check out our backlog of episodes. Protrusive Dental PearlNow, every main episode, I give you a Protrusive Dental Pearl. Today's dental pearl is all about how I record my clinical videos. Now, recently on YouTube, I published a video about how to record awesome clinical videos using a loop mounted camera. So I'll put the show links for that one below. But also if you search how to record awesome clinical dental videos, it will come up. Essentially It's using something called an OXO 4K. I think it's a spanish company but they have made the best camera that I have seen. I've tried a few and I've also spoken to a few very experienced colleagues. And they have suggested that OXO was the best and i've been using it for over 18 months now And you can see from the content that I post some of the videos are really crisp and the point of view footage that you get especially on some of the videos I have on the Protrusive app. That's all powered by the OXO. So if you're looking about how you can use videography in dentistry, that's why it's shining a light on the review I did recently. Now let's join the Taheri brothers and I'll catch you in the outro. Main Episode:So Damon and Ramtin Taheri, welcome to the Protrusive Dental Podcast. Great to have you both on. How are you both? [Damon]Good, Jaz. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for having us. First of all,
The Marseille project illustrates the agency's unique approach to producing architecture that is connected to nature. Here, like Mediterranean people who know how to take advantage of shade and coolness in summer, sun and warmth in winter, and light in all seasons, the homes are designed to carefully locate and arrange space according to the time of day and the seasons. Residents will find it easy to stroll between indoors and outdoors. This is the approach type of the architectural firm OXO, and an exemplary project described by Manal Rachdi himself. Though video games are found today in homes worldwide, they actually got their start in the research labs of scientists. In 1952, for instance, British professor A.S. Douglas created OXO, also known as crosses or a tic-tac-toe, as part of his doctoral dissertation at the University of Cambridge. (Clicking on the does not require you to purchase the item.)1) The first mention was of my beloved laundry sorter on wheels with an adjustable hanging bar. https://amzn.to/3YOyuHL2) The second was for coloring postcards. Brilliant invention. https://amzn.to/40Oh2EZ3) And the clipboard to hold the postcards/bills/supples to make it all portable. https://amzn.to/3jMZkkH4) The broom and dustpan I recommend here is one of the higher priced options, however, I have tried the less expensive options and they broke within the first week. The OXO brand I have linked to has been going strong for nearly two years and well worth the extra cost. https://amzn.to/3YOyM1j5) And the metal drawer I use must not be on the market or I need to dig harder to find it for y'all. In Episode #136, we explore AgeTech and investing in the future of how we age. We're joined by Abby Miller Levy, Primetime Partners's Managing Partner and Co-Founder. We cover becoming an accidental investor, the compelling white space in the senior market, and ending ageism. “I hope we have a society that isn't plagued by obesity and diabetes because people are excited to live longer and are therefore making trade-offs when they're younger to enjoy a longer, healthier life.” – Abby Miller Levy EPISODE GUIDE (LINKS, QUOTES, NOTES, AND BOOKS MENTIONED) https://www.danielscrivner.com/notes/primetime-partners-abby-levy FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT https://www.danielscrivner.com/notes/primetime-partners-abby-levy-transcript/ CHAPTERS This episode is our definitive guide to AgeTech and investing in the future of how we age. In it we cover: (00:00:00) – Introduction (00:03:00) – From business building at OXO and SoulCycle to becoming an accidental investor (00:07:58) – The compelling white space of the senior market (00:19:22) – Focusing on seed to Series A and launching incubations (00:22:15) – Consumer behavior and employment opportunities in the aging population (00:29:16) – Maximizing today vs. planning for tomorrow (00:37:18) – Housing opportunities for the senior market (00:43:15) – Ending ageism, focusing on preventative healthcare, and embracing multiple careers ABOUT PRIMETIME PARTNERS Abby Miller Levy is Co-founder and Managing Partner of Primetime Partners, which is a new venture capital firm that specializes in AgeTech, or investing in technology around the future of how we age. As you'll hear in this interview, the latest data and statistics around aging are almost too hard to believe. Here are just two data points. As of 2007, it's expected that about half of all babies born will live to be over 100 or become what are called centenarians. And by 2024, it's expected that workers aged 55 or older will represent a full 25% of the nation's workforce, with the fastest annual growth rates among those aged 65 and older. And yet, before Primetime Partners was founded by Abby Levy and venture legend Alan Patricof of Greycroft and Apax Partners fame, there were no venture firms focused solely on aging and enabling the technologies, products, and businesses we'll need to support an aging population.
In Episode #135, we deconstruct Abby Miller Levy's peak performance playbook—from their favorite book to the tiny habit that's had the biggest impact on their life. Welcome to the SYNC Your Life podcast episode #36! On this podcast, we will be diving into all things women's hormones to help you learn how to live in alignment with your female physiology. Too many women are living with their check engine lights flashing. You know you feel "off" but no matter what you do, you can't seem to have the energy, or lose the weight, or feel your best. This podcast exists to shed light on the important topic of healthy hormones and cycle syncing, to help you gain maximum energy in your life. In today's episode, I'm covering the third fundamental of hormone balance: nutrition. We cover macronutrients, including the one macronutrient most women need more of, in addition to micronutrients and how they serve our body. We talk pantry processed food elimination, food sensitivities, and even touch on the value of cycle syncing certain foods with the various phases of our menstrual cycle. In this episode, I reference a previous podcast I did on the keto diet for women, found here. I also reference a podcast on which I was interviewed about nutrition, which can be found here. Here is the podcast episode I did on cycle syncing nutrition, for more details on that specifically. These are the OXO containers I ordered for my chickpea and brown rice pastas, and the containers I used to organize my pantry. I mention the book, "Eat Smarter," by Shawn Stevenson, found here. Finally, here is my blog post titled, "You Need to Grow Up," all about how adults need to embrace nutrition over taste. If you feel like something is "off" with your hormones, check out the FREE hormone imbalance quiz at sync.jennyswisher.com. To learn more about the SYNC Digital Course, check out jennyswisher.com. Let's be friends outside of the podcast! Send me a message or schedule a call so I can get to know you better. You can reach out at https://jennyswisher.com/contact-2/. Enjoy the show! In addition, Oliver pens a blog, The Catlin Perspective, that covers the ongoing saga of doping, compounds of abuse, and the intersection between politics, sport, and the organizations that govern sport and anti-doping. We discuss detection methods and their future, false positives, marijuana, the WADA code, 6-OXO and the prohormone saga of the mid-2000's, ethics, and the future of doping detection among many more topics.
