I'm sure that my first introduction to Robin Hood was Disney's charming fox. It's honestly a pretty faithful telling of the myth, (maybe even more so because of all the talking animals). But in the Year of our Lord 1991, when I was a mere second grader, there was just one Robin Hood: Kevin Costner as the Prince of Thieves. We were not a movie-going family, but the theaters advertised their hopeful blockbusters on broadcast television, and they really sold this one. The trailer ended with a shot from the point of view of an arrow racing through the forest to split another and claim the bullseye. Pull back and behold the shooter: The Field of Dreams and Dances with Wolves guy! WHAT!?!? I had to see it.  I actually did watch it eventually on VHS at Preston Jones' house with the GIANT 36 INCH TV. I became obsessive, begging my parents for a real bow and arrow that I would absolutely not shoot my sisters with (denied). But the thing that sticks with me still is the killer ballad featured over the end credits. “Everything I Do, (I Do It for You)” by Bryan Adams forever changed couples' skating and slow dancing in Cordova, Tennessee and probably across the whole dang world. I didn't know it then, but these compelling twins of honor in romance and warfare were interwoven as the DNA of the genre that birthed the very first tales of Robin Locksley. This was a chivalric romance, and I was hooked.  I think this is connected to how much I love the stories of King David and his Mighty Men. No doubt the setting and cultural dynamics are hundreds of miles and centuries apart. But for me the common themes trigger all the trappings of a good medieval adventure. A noble warrior and rightful heir becomes an outcast in his own country because of the oppression of an unjust authority. In his exile, he finds the love of the people is on his side, and the most formidable of these band together to see him installed in his rightful place, where he can best care for the poor. Only the return of the High King, (who knows when?), will end this conflict. Until then, the most tragic episodes will occur inside the camp. What's not to love?  This week we're really going to dial in on the band of merry mighty men and how their friendship to David becomes an indispensable part of his ascent. It's a model for our own friendships for those who have ears to hear. Looking forward to it.

EX57 - Bryan Adams - A Great Canadian Musical Export - Cuts Like a Knife and Everything I Do, I Do it For You Bryan Adams, in full Bryan Guy Adams, (born November 5, 1959, Kingston, Ontario, Canada), Canadian rock singer-songwriter, photographer, and social activist whose hit albums Cuts Like a Knife (1983) and Reckless (1984) made him one of the most popular and successful recording artists of the 1980s. Adams was musically talented at an early age and taught himself how to play guitar. His father served in the Canadian army, was a UN peacekeeping observer, and served as a diplomat, necessitating many relocations for the family. When his parents divorced, he lived with his mother just north of Vancouver, British Columbia. At age 16, he dropped out of high school, ready to pursue a full-time career as a musician, having already performed as lead vocalist for Canadian glam-rock band Sweeney Todd. He spent time working in a recording studio, performing on tours, and recording music for Sweeney Todd's album If Wishes Were Horses (1977). Shortly after the recording's release, Adams was introduced to Jim Vallance, a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer. Vallance recognized Adams's ability but also saw the need for further vocal training. With Vallance's help, it was not long before Adams established a powerful, distinct sound, one compared to that of Rod Stewart, Paul Rodgers, and Steve Marriott. Happy 300th Flixwatcher! In this second special birthday episode Sam Pay and Martin Zaltz Austwick from Song by Song join Flixwatcher to review Kobi's choice Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is a 1991 action adventure film directed by Kevin ‘Waterworld' Reynolds and starring the other Kevin, Kevin Costner as the eponymous Robin. In this retelling of the English folklore Robin of Locksley escapes a prison in Jerusalem with the help of a Moor named Azeem (Morgan Freeman). While Robin has been away the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman acting with maximum ham) plots to seize the throne and make the lives of Nottingham miserable. Robin assembles a gang of outlaws to oppose the Sheriff and impress Marion (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio). Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was a huge hit in 1991, the second-highest-grossing film of the year (Terminator 2: Judgement Day was number one) and Bryan Adams' ‘Everything I Do, I Do It For You spent 16 weeks in the UK number top spot and still holds the record for longest number one single. Scores for recommendability were pretty solid, despite its flaws it is generally quite entertaining, mainly because of Rickman's OTT performance, with slightly lower scores for engagement the overall rating is 3.22. Bryan Adams is coming to Gwinnett County in June and he's bringing Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. For more on this story please listen to the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast. Adams' tour in support of his 15th studio album — “So Happy It Hurts” — makes a stop at the Gas South Arena on June 18. The 26-city tour, which starts June 6 in Baltimore. Adams announced the 2023 So Happy It Hurts Tour on Tuesday night's episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." Adams is famous for songs like “Summer of ‘69”, “Everything  I Do” , “Heaven”, and more. Joan Jett's hits include “I Love Rock n Roll” and “I hate myself for loving you.” Tickets go on sale starting today at noon on ticketmaster.com. Andy Maughon may have retired from nearly five decades of fixing automobiles, but he's planning to stay more than active. Maughon, who for the past 27 years has owned and operated Andy's Muffler & Lube on Scenic Highway in Snellville, closed the business on January 31, selling the property where his shop was located. He said he may find a part-time job to “keep from going insane,” and that he is a hunter and fisher, and that he and his wife do enjoy horseback riding. When asked why he decided to retire now, Maughon said, “It's time. I'm tired and I can't get any help, so it's just time. I've got two (employees) working for me now and I used to have eight.” It's likely that the Monroe native, who now lives in the Oglethorpe County town of Arnoldsville, will also continue his hobby of racing. When he opened his shop in 1995, Maughon and his wife were featured in the Gwinnett Daily Post for their racing prowess. When the COVID pandemic kept families close to home, Loganville resident Michael A. Carson and his son Matthew decided to team up on a writing project that resulted in the publication of two books — one about the origins of Black History Month and the other about notable African-American jazz figures through history. Although the Carsons are no longer stuck inside, their collaboration continued with a new book, “Unsung African-American History Makers: Unknown Hidden Figures And Their Stories,” which was released on New Year's Day. Carson said that it was his son — who just celebrated his 13th birthday — who came up with the idea for their latest book. Although the father-son team has thus far proven quite prolific, Carson said they don't have a firm idea on their next book — or if there will be a next book. Their process is usually started when they hear of something that they both think might make a good book. As of now, they don't have anything currently in mind. Carson also said the best part of this whole process is the familial connection that he and his son have made.   Students from South Gwinnett High School brought home a national championship in late January after winning the SuitUp Capgemini business competition. The competition took place in four cities — New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta — with the winning team from each region advancing to compete nationally. South Gwinnett represented the Atlanta market. The teams participating in the competition hosted by SuitUp (an educational nonprofit that seeks to increase career readiness for young people through business plan competitions) assumed the role of CEO for Capgemini, designing the prototype for a teen-friendly app focused on financial literacy. Each student was recognized with a certificate and a cash prize. A dozen families were displaced by a fire at a Norcross-area apartment complex on Tuesday. Gwinnett County firefighters were called to the Terra at Norcross Apartments complex, at 10:12 a.m., on a report that smoke was coming from a water heater closet. A plumber later told fire officials that he had noticed smoke in a water heater closet while he was working on pipes in the closet and used pull stations to make occupants aware of the fire. Crews arrived three minutes after they were called and found a two-story, multi-unit building on fire and deployed four hose lines to battle the flames. They also used two hydrants which were located in the apartment complex. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by fire department officials. One adult male did sustain a minor injury during the fire, but he was treated by medical crews and released at the scene. Twelve families were displaced by the fire and the complex's management is working with them to get them a place to stay while repairs are made. The Knight History Essay Contest, established by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution in honor of George S. and Stella M. Knight, is designed to provide high school students an opportunity to probe the major events of American history. Bolstered by research conducted by the student-writer, essays — ranging in word county from 800 to 1,200 — must be original with topics based on an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence or the framing of the U.S. Constitution. Students from the ninth through 12th grade submit their essays at the chapter and state levels to be considered for the national contest. Macayla Hutsler, a home-schooled 11th grade student from Gwinnett, is the recipient of the Lawrenceville-based Button Gwinnett Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution's essay contest award for 2022-23. Hutsler also won the state award, which was presented in late January at the Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution in Duluth. Hutsler's essay was entitled “Caesar Rodney: A Patriot Worth Remembering.” One of America's founding fathers, Rodney, who was born and died in Delaware, provided the tiebreaking vote that made the Declaration of Independence unanimous after Pennsylvania and South Carolina also voted for independence. This is the 3rd and final talk in the Transcending Karma Series. When the Brian Adams song “Everything I Do” came out some years ago it quickly became a world-hit. Millions of people all over the world were drawn to it. What was the ‘message' of the song that was attracting everyone? It was of being loved and loving unconditionally and of complete devotion. These are things that all people are drawn to because it is connected with our inner spiritual and eternal nature. In this talk, we discuss the development of Karma-yoga into its natural conclusion – Bhakti, and how this condition means a person can live in this world but not be ‘of this world'. How it is possible to be engaged in action yet free from all the karmic reaction – to become completely liberated and enlightened. This is the life of deep spiritual devotion to the highest object of love, the Supreme Soul. Some verses from the Bhagavad-gita address this subject and are meant as guidance for our lives. Meditating upon them from time to time is extremely beneficial. Bg. 3.6 - One who restrains the senses of action but whose mind dwells on sense objects certainly deludes himself and is called a pretender. Bg. 3.7 - On the other hand, if a sincere person tries to control the active senses by the mind and begins karma-yoga without attachment, he is by far superior. Bg. 3.9 - Work done as a sacrifice for the Supreme Soul has to be performed, otherwise work causes bondage in this material world. Therefore, O son of Kuntī, perform your prescribed duties for His satisfaction, and in that way you will always remain free from bondage. Bg. 3.30 - Therefore, O Arjuna, surrendering all your works unto Me, with full knowledge of Me, without desires for profit, with no claims to proprietorship, and free from lethargy, fight. Bg. 3.31 - Those persons who execute their duties according to My injunctions and who follow this teaching faithfully, without envy, become free from the bondage of fruitive actions. Bg. 4.41 - One who acts in devotional service, renouncing the fruits of his actions, and whose doubts have been destroyed by transcendental knowledge, is situated factually in the self. Thus he is not bound by the reactions of work. Bg. 5.2 - The Personality of Godhead replied: The renunciation of work and work in devotion are both good for liberation. But, of the two, work in devotional service is better than renunciation of work. Bg. 5.3 - One who neither hates nor desires the fruits of his activities is known to be always renounced. Such a person, free from all dualities, easily overcomes material bondage and is completely liberated, O mighty-armed Arjuna. Bg 9.26 - If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it. Bg. 9.27 - O son of Kunti [Arjuna], all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me. Bg 9.28 - In this way you will be freed from bondage to work and its auspicious and inauspicious results. With your mind fixed on Me in this principle of renunciation, you will be liberated and come to Me.

Happy Full House Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered the final episode in the "Reunion" series, with Fuller House S2E11: DJ and Kimmy's High School Reunion, which aired on December 9. 2016. In this episode a high school reunion leaves DJ wondering whether she still has feelings for Steve, while a hapless Kimmy is trending for all the wrong reasons. I enjoyed this episode, but Michael Campion's (Jackson Fuller)acting in the scene where Stephanie tries to talk to him in his bedroom and he's tearing up or trying and failing to cry it just feels like those scenes that require him to be upset or portray a strong emotion is difficult for him, we're so used to seeing him play a not taken seriously goof and Lola obsessed. Also the surprise cameos, Kathi Santoni (YAY!), Duane (Kimmy's ex-boyfriend from Full House Season 8) (YAY!), Nelson and Viper (BOO!) we could have done without this two they were too cornball and way out of place (DJ even asks Viper , "What are you even doing here, you didn't go to my high school). Apparently, he's now a sad sack who's just wasted at the time who works at Foot Locker. Nelson (not played by Jason Marsden BTW instead played by Hal Sparks) is ridiculous and just brags to DJ about how much money he still has, multiple homes and a jet, WHO CARES! Thankfully Steve comes to rescue her and they dance to "Everything I Do" (I'd Do It For You)from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, they even have a special dance they do to this song as they belt out the lyrics (If you remember them crooning to their other favorite movie song "Unchained Melody" from Ghost in Fuller House Season 1, Save The Dates, this one isn't much different than that, just add the dancing. Join me in late July when I celebrate two Full House and Fuller House Cast Member Birthdays with episode dedications, for Lori Loughlin's (Aunt Becky)Birthday, Full House S8E21: Leap Of Faith, which aired on March 21, 1995. Michelle cons her dad into letting her go to a rock concert. and Michael Campion's(Jackson Fuller) Birthday with, Fuller House S1E6: The Legend Of El Explosivo, which aired on February 26, 2016. Episode 175 (Season 3.5, Episode 3) Running A Virtual Team, Part 2 REVISITED This is from a special series of episodes we're revisiting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today's episode is the 2nd half of a topic that's particularly fitting—“Running A Virtual Team, Part 2”. Enjoy! We have been a virtual team for several years now, and we LOVE IT. Despite being located all over our market, we have a highly successful team and a super fun culture. In this two-part series, we talk about the advantages (and hurdles) of getting away from the traditional “bricks-and-mortar” office setting, along with how you can thrive as a virtual agent and team. ► Free YouTube Passive Income Course: https://tinyurl.com/ya3oo56b ► Join The Refusing to Settle Mastermind https://goo.gl/wsNnwu Hey Refusers, today I’m going to show you how you can build your personal brand, and stand out on social media in a world that’s noise than ever. A lot of you realized and asked me about name change “Why switch from clark kegley to refusing to settle” and members in VBA FB mastermind private coaching group as well. Thought I would give you my thoughts on personal branding in 2018. SO crowded. Especially space I’m in — Self-development. LITERALLY, ANYONE can talk about life. “Hey! this will make your life better” all say the same shit. I’ve built a brand and channel for over 130k people — six-figure business. JUST NOW starting to click in with direction and who we are as a community. Something I’ve been researching lots about. Something I’m deep diving into and geeking out on thought I would share it with you 5 eye-opening tips, is that okay? Alright, awesome. REAL QUICK NOTE: In VBA I go over Upgraded branding boot camp — 45 min walkthrough of how to start brand from scratch/logo/slogan/fandom — so if you like this and haven’t joined already, DO IT :) https://https://www.myvideobreakthrou... 1. AUDIENCE Start here — IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU! Most people start with THEMSELVES. So so so wrong. Need to Know exactly WHO you’re talking to approach them the right way. i.e. Avatar of ideal customer — Megan and Justin sitting on my wall. Random pictures of them off google! i.e. REFUSERS community. There’s an edge to us. Not into cheesy self-help. We reject what’s average and we Refuse to Settle! EVERYTHING I DO from dress, backdrop, branding, speech, etc is targeted towards who I’m trying to reach! 20-30s. 2. PERSONAL OF REAL "Personal Brand” is hot right now. I disagree — do both at the same time. Create something BIGGER than you! People need a cause, a new opportunity to follow (Christ, Hitler, Mass Movements) Also: Clark Danger, Clark Kegley, vs. Refusing to Settle — easier to put out there when it’s not… you. A Little buffer is easier mentally (for me). 3. Be consistent Set yourself apart used to take 1-3 exposures now takes 6-12! i.e. on this channel what I'm using to get to 250k is going deep into my brand. You HAVE to be polarizing. Not generic. Stand OUT! 4. IMAGE Get a logo — this is where most start…. Your BRAND is NOT a logo. Simple over Complex Choose 3 colors — one accent. Look up color combos online. Also… YOU. (i.e. outfit, style, speaking, cussing? tonality, stories, examples, your story, etc) 5. FANDOM Community Russell Brunson: create your CULT-ure Give them a name! “REFUSERS” Something to be a part of! Creating a refuser manifesto stop settling start living clark

Everything I Do, I Do It For You ‘What's that bag doing in the hall?’             ‘Nothing, Daddy.’             ‘I mean, Why did you leave it there?’             ‘I had to leave it somewhere, Daddy.’             ‘Is it your gym bag?’             ‘Yes.’             ‘And are the clothes for washing?’             ‘Yes.’             ‘So why don't you put the clothes in the washing basket?’             ‘Because you always do it for me, Daddy.’             ‘Well, I'm not going to do it this time.’             ‘You'll see.’             ‘And what about that rucksack?’             ‘What about it, Daddy?’             ‘Well, can't you take it to your bedroom?’             ‘What for? I'm going to need it tomorrow.’             ‘Do you have an answer for everything, darling?’             ‘Yes, Daddy. When will dinner be ready?’             ‘Soon. And don't change the subject.’             ‘Don't do too much for me. I'm not very hungry. Did you remember to buy Coke?’             ‘What about those trainers? Do you have to leave them there?’             ‘I always leave them there, Daddy.’             ‘Yes, I know. Everybody else leaves their shoes in the shoe cupboard.’             ‘Anything else, Daddy?’             ‘No, just shoes.’             ‘Eh?’             ‘Never mind. Just make sure you’ve tidied this all up before Mummy gets home.’             ‘When’s Mummy coming home?’             ‘About ten.’             ‘Oh, we’ve got plenty of time, Daddy! Can you smell something burning?’ . . .
