#333 In this episode, Guy interviewed John Thomas, a Silicon Valley tech professional turned co-author of a spiritual book, 'Channeled Messages of Hope.' They delved into the process of receiving spiritual messages from ascended masters through voice channeling facilitated by Carolyn and her friend Sam Larkin. The conversation covered the origin of the book, the role of ascended masters, and the environmental messages received. John shared personal insights into spiritual growth, life reviews, and the interconnectedness of all life on Earth. The discussion also touches on their upcoming projects and the unique experience of transcribing these soul interviews into an audiobook format. About John: I am Carolyn Thomas' husband. I graduated with a degree in chemical engineering and my background is classic corporate technology. I went down the typical Silicon Valley tech company path, but then soon diverted to marketing, sales, and business development. I've tried my hand at big companies, and I've been involved with startups. I've had some successes, some failures, and lots of interesting experiences.  My involvement with the emerged when Carolyn was preparing for the Nikola Tesla interview. Without an engineering background, she was having difficulty formulating the more technical questions fitting for such a soul and asked for my help. I ended up leading the interview with Tesla, as well as the interviews with Albert Einstein and his first wife Mileva who reveals that she co-authored Einstein's paper on relatively along with four other papers filed in 1905. I also felt drawn to speak with Ronald Reagan and Samuel Clemens and would go on to participate in the remaining interviews with Carolyn. We felt that having the two of us interview a soul made for more interesting conversation as well as follow on questions. 3 Healthy Strategies to Counteract Feelings of Helplessness | Grow through What You're Going through A lot can happen in a day that we have no control over. This can be especially challenging when we ourselves are impacted by the outcome, and the outcome is largely outside our realm of control. With a focus on the end result we're looking for, and the miles that exist between where we want to be and this present moment... it's easy to feel helpless. Many of us do. Many of us forgot a time where we didn't feel helpless, and much of the things we do and choose not to do stem from how we've learned to manage that sense of helplessness. Having been stalked by my professor at UofT's Rotman's School of management for the last four years, across country and several other countries, I'm well acquainted with the feeling. All to say, part of my survivorship is learning how to constructively respond and adapt to those feelings of helplessness, rather than cave into them - hopefully these insights can support you, too. I'd like to share Kevin's story, mostly in his own words.  As always, there is a huge message of hope and transformation available in this story, so I hope you'll listen in! After 28 years of marriage, feeling like roommates, Kevin said "I felt helpless" and "very isolated, very alone" in the struggles he experienced.  As a very successful (and busy!) IT exec overseeing teams in India, UK, France, and elsewhere, and really being able to figure out most things on his own... It was confusing to not be able to figure out marriage in the same way. And it was painful to hear his wife caring more about something like Diet Coke than him. Logically, he knew it wasn't true but it sure felt like it at times. He listened to the DYM transformation stories (like this one!). And they sounded too good to be true. But he kept hearing parts of his story over and over again through other people's DYM interviews.  He thoroughly checked into the DYM work and dived into the podcasts. Of the work, he said, "the more and more I listened, the more I found and heard the biblical basis of everything and heard the logic." Then, he took courage and had the Clarity Call which he said "the Clarity Call was exactly what it says: it was very clarifying." Once in, of the program: "It was very incremental, very linear, and based in a way where it clicks, where it makes sense." "The feedback loop, the accountability, the camaraderie of all the other gentlemen going through the program, that environment is an extra dimension of learning that I think is important, if not key to success." "It pours all the ingredients together to make things work." "I talked about things I have never talked about with anybody in my whole life during that part of the program."   Through the Delight Your Marriage program, Kevin experienced an improvement in his marriage and a greater sense of fulfillment and walk with God.   We would love to take the next step with you too. Sign up for a free Clarity Call at delightyourmarriage.com/cc and we can witness your transformation as well! (And who knows, maybe just like Kevin, you'll be our next transformation story who initially thought it was "too good to be true"!)   Love & Blessings, Belah   PS -- If you're wondering how healthy your marriage is right now so you can get clear on the aspects to improve, fill out the Marital Health Assessment for a free evaluation of your marriage health so you can take steps to make it even better! delightyourmarriage.com/health   PPS -- Take action now and sign up for the Clarity Call. Chris and Danny discuss overcoming the feeling of helplessness when dealing with addiction, for both addicts and their family members. They emphasize the importance of separating the addiction from the person and recognizing it as an illness rather than a personal issue. Taking small steps such as learning about addiction and seeking help from experienced individuals, can help people regain control and work towards recovery. Effective communication and mindset shifts play a significant role in addressing addiction, and it is crucial to believe change is possible.  Episode Highlights Relating the freeze response to family members struggling with a loved one's addiction and their feeling of being stuck The story of Danny dealing with his mother's attempts to manage his addiction and how her eventual withdrawal ultimately led to his treatment The concept of Learned Helplessness and its roots in a 1967 study involving dogs and electric shocks The discovery that the original Learned Helplessness theory actually has it backwards: We have to learn that we have the power to control outcomes Overriding the instinctual drive by looking for small actions that can influence the outcome Recognizing the feeling of being stuck and finding small options to get unstuck in relation to dealing with an addicted loved one Conventional wisdom in addiction and the importance of seeking help and learning new skills to combat learned helplessness Making addiction treatment entirely up to the addicted person, the flawed concept of hitting rock bottom, and the reality of continued use despite negative consequences Sharing insights about people in recovery, many of whom were pushed into it by their families Addressing the feelings of helplessness, permanence, pervasiveness, and personal responsibility in dealing with a loved one's addiction The importance of seeking help from others and avoiding taking personal responsibility for a loved one's addiction Learning more about addiction as an illness and separating it from the person in order to find a solution for the problem Providing an example of successful detachment from a personal perspective to appropriately address a loved one's addiction Developing a skill set to cope with addiction in the family, understanding that it takes work and dedication to reach a level of detachment Overcoming feelings of helplessness and understanding that with effort, change is possible The power of effective communication and how changing the way things are said can influence a person to seek treatment Realizing that addiction is not permanent and sharing examples of countless people who have found recovery The simplicity of saying yes to treatment, and how family members' belief in recovery can make a significant difference in taking that step Recognizing that it's unreasonable to think you can handle the situation on your own, but with proper guidance, you can unstick yourself and make progress in response to a loved one's addiction Links and Resources from this Episode https://whyintervention.com/ https://twitter.com/whyintervention https://www.facebook.com/whyintervention/?ref=br_rs https://bigthink.com/neuropsych/learned-helplessness-imaginable/ Call to Action Schedule a Call Free Resources Review, Subscribe and Share If you like what you hear please leave a review by clicking here Make sure you're subscribed to the podcast so you get the latest episodes. Hearing Jesus: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Hear From God, Prayer, Christian Woman, Spiritual Life, Build a Relations

Feeling Helpless? How God Meets Us Where We Are: Psalm 18 Part 2     Part 2 of Psalm 18 examines the ways David saw God's hand at work in the midst of his helplessness in battle.  We can be assured that the God that is revealed in the Psalms is the same God we serve today.  God is a God who rescues.   Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast.   Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life?   Hey, I'm your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God's voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn't quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn't qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do.   The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life.   Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His.   The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open.   Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer.   Learn -> https://shehears.org Connect -> rachael@shehears.org Community-> https://www.facebook.com/groups/743928930315696/ Instagram-> https://www.instagram.com/she_hears/ Missions Support-> https://www.cotni.org/campaigns/rachael-groll     Need to chat one on one? Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be.

Hi my friend!  Have you ever felt trapped in a situation? Or like you had no choice or way out? Some of us have lived through one or more pretty horrible experiences, and those experiences could have planted helplessness and hopelessness deep within our psyche.  "Learned Helplessness" is a condition discovered by Martin Seligman and Steve Maier and directly relates to our hopelessness levels.  The beauty of the human experience is our ability to endure trauma and drama. But more importantly, to heal and become wiser through it all.  There seems to be this season when the helpless/hopeless feelings are so much to bear that it's hard to see past the pain and believe that we'll feel better ever again.  Today we are diving into a study that illustrates how we are affected by helplessness and three tips to help us escape those hopeless and helpless feelings.  We have to be intentional to help ourselves come out of those feelings. Otherwise, they can lead us to more seasons of despair and depression. But there's hope! :) If you'd like more info about a 1-on-1 coaching session with me OR if you need prayer, please send an email to hello@danisumner.com  Much love, Dani Wanting a Spiritual growth guide in any season?
