Smylie Kaufman, former LSU Golfer (2010-14) and PGA Tour Professional, joins the latest edition of Tigers Win to talk about his love for the Tigers and his broadcasting career as a commentator for NBC Sports and The Golf Channel. Watch the full episode on LSU Plus.
On this Wednesday edition of 5 Clubs, Gary Williams breaks down what Brooks Koepka's return means for the PGA TOUR — and why the “win” might be as much about the return itself as it is about results. Gary also previews the LPGA season, highlighting the tour's depth, the importance of star power, and why Nelly Korda remains a major driver of mainstream attention as the LPGA continues evolving under new leadership.Frank Nobilo from CBS joins Gary to put Scottie Scheffler's dominance in context — including the sensible way to talk about Scheffler in the same breath as Tiger Woods (and even Jack Nicklaus), what truly separates the greats, and why “closing on Sundays” is the common thread. Frank also weighs in on golf's bigger-picture future: the PGA TOUR's potential schedule contraction, how “less can feel like more,” rotating playoff venues, and why relegation/elevation matters to the product (and the spirit) of the game.Later, Taylor Twellman stops by ahead of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where he's competing alongside LPGA stars and celebrities. Twellman shares a powerful story about how golf helped save him after a career-ending concussion, why the sport's mental demands are uniquely challenging, and how he balances focus, flow, and execution over a long round.Plus: Dogs of the Week and picks to close out the show. Scottie Scheffler just notched win No. 20, and Gary Williams makes the case that this isn't a hot streak — it's the start of the Scheffler era. We break down the historic pace (20 PGA TOUR wins and 4 majors before age 30), the margins that separate him from the field, and why the comparisons to golf's all-time greats keep getting louder.Plus, Golf Magazine's Sean Zak joins the show to discuss what makes Scheffler so hard to beat, why his “bad days” barely exist, and what that dominance does to everyone else chasing him. We also touch on Tommy Fleetwood's mindset and what makes him one of the most relatable stars in the game.New 5 Clubs contributor Mel Reid joins Gary to talk LPGA storylines and the evolution of women's golf coverage — including why more live coverage and better broadcast tech matter, how the LPGA can build stronger fan engagement, and the challenges (and upside) of a global tour schedule. Mel also shares her perspective on playing more iconic venues, where mixed events fit (and don't fit), and what stands out most about Nelly Korda heading into the season.Listen to 5 Clubs on PGA TOUR Radio (SiriusXM Channel 92) and watch on Golf Channel.0:00 - 15:40 Scottie's Dominance 16:02 - 32:09 Sean Zak32:25 - 44:35 Mel Reid44:53 - 46:13 Final ThoughtsFOLLOW 5 Clubs: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/5clubsgolf/X: https://x.com/5ClubsGolf Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/5ClubsGolf/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@5clubsgolf

Send us a textTwo truths can exist at once: golf is thriving, and some of its boldest experiments still can't find the right stage. We start the year by proving why the local game matters most—new energy in the Vegas Golf Network, a private Facebook group where real debates live, and our fresh “Joker Low Net” format that rewards players who go low! We also welcomed Relic Body Arts as a sponsor and spun up live giveaways because community isn't a slogan for us; it's the point.Gear lovers get plenty to chew on. Callaway refreshed the Chrome Soft family and teased the Quantum driver, with materials and cover tech designed to add speed without sacrificing feel. We talk about where gains might come from, how fitters will test the claims, and why early-access fittings at private clubs can be a cheat code for smarter buying. Then we press into the TGL problem: elite players, clever tech, but buried time slots and an audience left guessing. Our fix is simple—put it on Golf Channel in prime hours, replay it smartly, and partner with OEMs to explain equipment choices in real time so the product tells a story the average golfer can follow. The heart of the show is a fog-drenched round at Paiute that reminded us why we play. With visibility down, we moved up a tee box, hit more short irons, tightened dispersion, and tied a personal best. It wasn't about ego; it was about making the course fit the day and the body. That theme rolls straight into putting: a quick posture reset led to a shorter putter and a better stroke. If you can't reach a studio, grab a roll-out mat, a mirror, and a yardstick to lock in start line and face control. For newer golfers, we lay out a sane gear path—shop quality used sets or get a fit, and if you're slicing, buy one lesson and actually do the work.We finish by spotlighting the LPGA at Shadow Creek, a full-field event at a bucket-list course that most fans will never step on. That's how you build intrigue the right way. The West Coast swing is loading—Sony, AmEx, Farmers, Phoenix, Pebble, Genesis—and we'll be ready with takes, gear notes, and more community wins.If this mix of real-world golf, gear honesty, and smarter practice vibes with you, tap follow, share the show with a golf buddy, and drop a review. Your support helps us grow the community and bring you more fittings, giveaways, and deep-dive episodes all season long.Support the showSpecial thank goes out to our show sponsors:

Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Pressure is self-created. It's a byproduct of expectations and outcome fixation; reframe it as a challenge and return to controllables. Process > performance > outcome. Track performance stats, but win the day by executing process goals (breath, target, routine, commitment). Curiosity beats judgment. Asking "What's really happening?" dissolves shame, perfectionism, and fear—opening access to better decisions and motor memory. Calibrated intensity. Grind isn't mindless hours; it's intentional focus paired with recovery, so skills encode and become automatic. Detach identity from results. You are not your score or sales number; evaluate inputs and execution quality, not just outcomes. Reframe your language. "I have to" → "I get to," "I'm busy" → "I'm in demand"—word choice shifts physiology and performance. Coach with empathy first. Before offering fixes, make athletes feel seen; then co-create reframes and experiments they can own. Key Quotes: "Pressure doesn't exist—outside of physics. We create it with expectations." "Achievement can feel like a drug—use it to fuel you, not break you." "You're not what you produce. You are enough—regardless of the number." "Win with process goals; they ladder up to performance—and then outcomes." "Curiosity is the antidote to so many psychological 'diseases.'" "If you keep grinding the stone, it turns to nothing. Rest builds growth." "Tell yourself: You have everything you need to succeed. Then access it." The DP World Tour finals are next up on the "Schedule of the Week," with Rory McIlroy poised to secure yet another Race to Dubai win. The DPWT announced the new "Rory McIlroy Award" on Tuesday, now given to the European with the best performance across a year's four majors. To Brendan and PJ's surprise, Joseph reveals that Rory is ineligible for this award, leading to questions about why this even exists. The ANNIKA Driven by Gainbridge at the Pelican has made plenty of headlines due to a Kai Trump sponsor exemption and Caitlin Clark's Pro-Am round having extended coverage on Golf Channel. Finally, PJ previews the Charles Schwab Cup Championship as the 2025 Champions Tour season comes to a close. Andy makes plans for next year's swan song at Phoenix Country Club that involves PJ running a 5K race to raise money for colon cancer research. There's a brief discussion of some news surrounding the now-announced teams for the "Golf Channel Games," but Joseph isn't sure what to make of this made-for-TV spectacle. "The Boys" are then put on the hot seat by Andy and Brendan as they're quizzed about the future of "Lunch with The Boys," the Indianapolis Colts, and more.
