EPISODE 208Thanks, everyone, for tuning in to this week's show. There's a ton of stuff going on in golf, so we had a lot to talk about. LIV Golf returned, and we were not impressed. As golf fans, we all tried to watch the tourney in Mayakoba, but it was just hard to watch. The Honda Classic, however, even with a field of what many people called "nobody's," was damn good. The storylines that the PGA Tour continues to pump out there is something that LIV cannot replicate. At least right now, they can't. Who knows down the road? Another Elevated, Designated event hits the course this weekend on the PGA Tour as the Arnold Palmer Invitational takes center stage with a good as-it-gets field for a non-Major. Joe and Matt played in the Double Par Skins game out at Desert Pines Golf Club, where Matt was destroyed in his Match Play event, 8 & 6. (that was hard to type). Then we voiced our opinion about Desert Pines and what people can expect when they show up to play there. Fox5 Meteorologist Matt Gontarek gave us a look into the weekend forecast, and we're finally starting to see some typical weather now that March is finally here. So damn weird this winter has been here in Vegas. We wrapped up the show with the odds for the API and Puerto Rico Open and made out picks for both tourneys. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you haven't checked out our NEW YouTube channel, please do and hit that Subscribe Button for us! Golf analyst David Feherty has been in the news a lot recently. He left network TV to join the LIV Golf series as a commentator and a few nights ago at a charity event in Toledo he didn't beat around the bush. He said he joined the LIV tour because of money. He also said he is tired of being careful of what he says on air, because so many have lost their sense of humor! Amen to that! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Summer School in Scotland rolls on and Andy and Brendan have a few more thoughts on The Open, specifically Rory's performance, after a magical afternoon getting to play The Old Course themselves. Then they get back to the pro golf at hand, namely the 3M Open at TPC Sod Farm, described in one write-up as utilizing “natural, rolling terrain on the site of a former sod farm.” They discuss the Tour's messaging, which is apparently foremost of what they care about, and how the 3M Open actually exhibits weakness to the point it would be best if they just took a few weeks off following The Open. The women's and senior majors are previewed, with critiques for two poor venues. The LIV latest is discussed, with David Feherty making the jump and Ernie Els with some sage advice on how this should all shake out, including specific comments on new Champion Golfer of the Year Cam Smith.

The Biden administration is taking a victory lap as gas prices have dropped 50 cents in a month even though nobody has a clear reason why. So I'll take a stab at a hunch that I have. Late night liberal Stephen Colbert presides over a staff of 9 employees that were arrested for trespassing in the Congressional office building. And what do you know... he DOJ says they won't prosecute any of them. Of course, they need to secure a tv partner but it appears that's close. The All Stars are ready to shine in LA Tuesday night and I'm rooting for a tie. The tiebreaker could be epic, wait until you hear this. And a father and son shared a very special first pitch together in New York on Sunday. This is a story that will make you smile.

David Feherty is a former professional golfer on the European Tour and PGA Tour. He now works as a writer and broadcaster hosting his own show called Feherty on NBC's Golf Channel. In this podcast Feherty talks about how he walked out of a high school lecture on rain when he was 17 to become a professional golfer. He also talks about the alcoholism in his family and how that lead to his own encounter with the permanent condition where he some days drank two bottles of whiskey and downed 20 Vicodin. He believes, speaking frankly about his bipolar condition and recovery has been healing for many people. That, and David's never-ending sense of humor is truly healing. David talks about the missing ingredient in the world today - kindness and the power of coming from a place of non-judgement. With NBC's coverage of the Arnold Palmer Invitation and the Players Championship up next on the PGA Tour schedule, it's a perfect time for Mike to be joined by David Feherty to discuss not only those events but how the game has changed in recent years. While he hasn't won a major in over a decade, Tiger Woods' impact on the game is best represented by the latest generation of golfers, some of whom are scheduled to join Feherty later this month. With Mike, Feherty lists some of his favorite golfers to watch and touches on the significance of his native Northern Ireland's first major championship in 70 years.
