What makes T-cells so crucial in fighting cancer? As studies have shown, there may be a great benefit from finding a large concentration of them in or near the tumor in question. Listen in to learn: What makes T cells effective in the fight against cancer Why your lymph nodes swell when the body is under duress How we are able to precisely locate tumors in the body Greg M Delgoffe, an Associate Professor in the Department of Immunology at PITT, shares the value of T cells and his work finding precisely how the body fights cancer. As many of us are familiar with, when sick or an immune response from our body is indicated, our lymph nodes often swell and become painful. However, what many people do not know is why. Since T cells are one of our body's premier defenses, the sheer number of them proliferated causes some of these unpleasant reactions. While they are not always as effective in every individual who needs them, there are ways for researchers to improve their potency. Thankfully, this work is showing great promise in helping beat or significantly extend the prognosis in many cancer patients. Visit delgoffe-lab.com for more information. Greg Morgan spoke about authority and the consensual power we give over to others. It has been his experience that the authority of Jesus grows experimentally within him. When you listen for God speaking through others, how do you look beyond the surface to listen for the Spirit of God? Are you mindful to give God inward authority over your own desires and preferences?

It's a very special week on Spook Squad, as we debut our very first sit down talk with a guest! This week is part one of Dan's talk with musician, mathematician and friend of a decade, Greg M! The only issue is, Greg gets pretty terrified by horror movies. So how can they share this love? The two talk about the Greg Safe System, politics in cinema, the unlikely bonding experience of watching Paranormal Activity together, and Greg's tumultuous relationship with the Nightmare On Elm Street series. This conversation is full of laughter and silly anecdotes from a decade on friendship. Stay tuned for part two! For First Word on November 24, Greg M. read from Romans 1:11-12 and reflected about how his ministry as a chaplain is at first glance him sharing a spiritual gift to strengthen others, but even deeper it is mutually encouragement by each other's faith.
Season 5, Ep 11 This week on Project Freelance I am joined by composer Greg M. Johnson. He has composed music for many sci-fi films, tv shows, and even a few video games. I wanted to pick his brain about the process of composing music for entertainment. How can you watch a film, with only the dialogue and come up with music to match those scenes? I mean, downloading some song from an audio library is one thing, but composing your own music!! WOW! WOW! I'm a vocalist but I've never been able to clearly articulate the music that's in my head, which is why I hire instrumentalists to help me. I spoke with Brian F. and Greg M. about some of the exciting areas you may find a millwright working in. We talk robots, retrofits, and technology on this episode to help explain the diversity in our trade.
Greg Morgan read from John 13 for a message about Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. He shared a story of caring for the feet of his father when his father was unable to do so himself. It was one of the warmest moments he ever had with him, when he finally relented and let someone care for him in that way. Queries for open worship were: Do I find it hard to receive a gift without feeling the need to refuse or reciprocate? How can I let go and receive with gratitude? In what ways and with whom can I be a better receiver?
Greg Morgan shared a First Word about staying present in this moment where he is waiting for the next currently-unknown step. He is grateful for the sense of anticipation, which is like a good book with many pages left to read, or a gift that is wrapped and sitting on his lap ready to open.
On the February 8, 2019 episode of /Film Daily, /Film editor in chief Peter Sciretta is joined by /Film managing editor Jacob Hall, weekend editor Brad Oman, senior writer Ben Pearson, and writers Hoai-Tran Bui and Chris Evangelista to answer some reader emails. You can subscribe to /Film Daily on iTunes, Google Play, Overcast, Spotify and all the popular podcast apps (here is the RSS URL if you need it). Opening Banter: It's a slow news day today. In The Mailbag: The other day we talked about how no one seems to want to direct James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Brian Thomas wrote in with a suggestion “Couldn't Peyton Reed do it? Just team him up with the GotG2 art team and crew to get the world right, and hand him James Gunn's script. I thought Ant-Man and the Wasp was every bit as good as GotG2. He clearly “gets” how to make a sci-fi action comedy with an ensemble cast. You'd just have to convince him to do it, I guess.” Koji from Tokyo, Japan writes in “Big fan of the podcast! Listening everyday!I have a question for you guys. What app do you use for tracking movies and TV series you've seen?”Are there any other movie apps that you use in some way worth mentioning? Greg M from Australia writes in “Love the show, have been listening for around a year now. I find the knowledge and enthusiasm displayed by you and the team really inspiring. Keeps me motivated to continue working on my own scripts, and reminds me that the world of cinema is more rewarding the closer you look. Which brings me to my question. Australia is not known for having exemplary or timely access to all the TV and movies that are out there, and even with the addition of streaming services, it's still an uphill battle. Now I'm not talking about finding obscure or dated titles, I'm talking about finishing off my watch list for 2018! I live in Brisbane - a city of over a million people - but even in a town this size, our cinemas don't show anything remotely obscure. Melbourne and Sydney aren't much better. One recent example is that only one cinema here showed 'Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot', and then only for about a week. And that is NOT an underground movie. That is not some festival film that "no one cares about". In 2018 I watched around 45 films from the year. I was floored to hear that Chris watched over 300. So my question to you then becomes: "How do I watch more movies in 2019?". I know there's no magic bullet solution but there has to be a way to see the films the cinemas won't show. Are there any industry tips or tricks you can share? I'd prefer to do it legally also - I have cinephile friends that just pirate movies they can't see elsewhere, but that sucks for everyone really. Please help me, it's fucking absurd that these things get made and then no one gets to watch them.” Derrek from Buffalo, NY writes in “Thanks for all the good listening this year. I wanted to pose to the slash film crew this question...when is the best time in a theater to eat your concessions? Do you eat your snacks during the previews? Some before, some during? It seems like I always end up eating them all before the movie starts. I hope to someday shake the hand of some of the dads I see exiting the theater with candy remaining after a 2.5 hr movie.... Keep up the good work.” Justin D from Dallas Texas writes in “I'm happy to hear that you're having so much success with the Keto Diet. I am debating on a diet going into next year and was curious to know more about it. What is the meal planning like? Is it a difficult diet? How much exercise is needed and how does the diet make you feel?” All the other stuff you need to know: You can find more about all the stories we mentioned on today's show at slashfilm.com, and linked inside the show notes. /Film Daily is published every weekday, bringing you the most exciting news from the world of movies and television as well as deeper dives into the great features from slashfilm.com. In this story, Greg M, a program graduate, shares his past of addiction and hurt, and how God has transformed him to the person he is today.
Running wasn't always something Peyton was passionate about. In fact, he never ran a day in his life until 2012. Remnants of a former car accident left him with degenerated discs in his neck and required him to have a discectomy of his cervical spine. During his recovery, one single wrong move could leave him paralyzed. Peyton refused to let the victim stance mentality win. He resorted to walking for exercise. Walking soon led to running and running soon led to racing. 5k races led to half marathons. Half marathons led to marathons. During his second marathon, Peyton started feeling nauseous around mile 20 and did a walk/run for the last 6 miles. He chalked off his disappointment to dehydration and rookie mistakes. Weeks later Peyton was running a 10k in Oak Island where he fell to the ground just 200 meters from the finish. Peyton was rushed to the hospital and after many tests and doctor visits he was diagnosed with Bradycardia and type II Atrioventricular Block, which required him to get a pacemaker. Inspired by other adaptive athletes like Buddy 1 Leg (skateboarder/snowboarder), Misty Diaz (Spartan athlete), and Mikey Da Temple (surfer), Peyton refused to be defined by his circumstance. He hired a running coach, started training for marathons, and 11 months post pacemaker surgery he PR'd his first marathon. 2 years to the day of getting his pacemaker he qualified for Boston. Peyton is still running wild and free today, even during the eye of a hurricane. Peyton talks about his set backs, injuries, and life as a "wired athlete". He now aims to inspire and motivate others to work to the best of their ability with what they have. He is a high school counselor and expects the same of his students. Accountability is a huge factor for him. He quotes, "there are plenty of days I don't want to run but there's never a day I wish I hadn't."
