Welcome to cutting-edge approach to Breast Reconstruction: "The Nerve Sparing DIEP flap"A "Nerve sparing DIEP flap" refers to a surgical technique used in breast reconstruction where the surgeon carefully dissects and preserves the nerves that supply the rectus abdominis muscle when harvesting tissue from the lower abdomen using the deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap, minimizing potential complications like abdominal weakness or bulging at the donor site by avoiding damage to these motor nerves; essentially, it prioritizes preserving the function of the abdominal muscles while taking the necessary tissue for breast reconstruction. Key points about nerve sparing DIEP flap:•Muscle preservation: Unlike older techniques like the TRAM flap, a DIEP flap aims to completely spare the rectus abdominis muscle, only taking the skin, fat, and blood vessels supplied by the perforating vessels from the deep inferior epigastric artery. •Nerve identification: During surgery, the surgeon carefully identifies and dissects around the nerves that innervate the rectus muscle to minimize their damage. •Benefits: By preserving the nerves, a nerve-sparing DIEP flap can help maintain abdominal wall strength, reduce the risk of hernias, and improve post-operative function and body contour. While taking a much-needed break from the demanding world of Hospice Care, I stumbled upon the inspiring works of John Burke, bestselling author of "Imagine Heaven" and "Imagine the God of Heaven." This serendipitous discovery provided a fresh perspective and renewed hope during a time of deep reflection. In this heartfelt episode, we express gratitude for the overwhelming community support extended to hospices in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Virginia, following the devastation of Hurricane Helene. John shares his deeply personal journey with hospice care during his mother's battle with Alzheimer's and his father-in-law's struggle with brain cancer, highlighting the critical support these facilities offer during end-of-life journeys.Prepare to have your understanding of consciousness and the afterlife challenged as John Burke and I discuss the intriguing phenomena of near-death experiences (NDEs). We explore compelling personal accounts, such as that of Mary in London, whose experience of observing her surroundings while clinically dead offers potential evidence of consciousness beyond physical existence. We also touch on the perspectives of medical professionals like Dr. Pim Van Lommel, who provide insights that question traditional brain-based explanations. These stories, along with scholarly research, present a compelling case for rethinking our perceptions of life, death, and consciousness. Finally, we turn our focus to the spiritual dimensions of NDEs, drawing connections with biblical texts and exploring overarching themes of love and interconnectedness. By examining the Apostle Paul's potential near-death experience and the moving testimonies of individuals like Santosh and Vicki, we discover the transformative power of viewing life through a broader lens. As we conclude, we emphasize the universal importance of love, faith, and hope, encouraging listeners to seek a deeper understanding and live purposefully, making a positive impact in their communities.GuestJohn Burke, New York Times bestselling author of Imagine Heaven and Imagine the God of Heaven HostChris Comeaux, President & CEO of Teleioshttps://www.teleioscn.org/tcntalkspodcast/imagine-heaven-with-john-burkeTeleios Collaborative Network / https://www.teleioscn.org/tcntalkspodcast

Key Quotes 13:51 - "Jesus' references this even as the greatest commandment and what we see right after that in Deuteronomy, it's not the priests. It's not the the temple. It's not the tabernacle. It doesn't talk about what we would consider the church and the pastors. It talks about the parents and the home. This is what we're talking about, family discipleship." 32:57 - "We have a short period of time that will have an effect for the lifetime of our children. The reality is, if we do it well, it has an effect on eternity. In all the things that I invest my life in, there are there are very few that are going to last beyond my lifetime. My children, by the grace of God and their legacy is one of those things, and how they pass their faith on is going to be a lot of it derived from how we as fathers actually pour into our kids. And we know the statistics that the number one indicator for a child's faith in their future, it's actually the father's." Hey there! Trapper here. Apparently, it's a thing. My son informs me that it's a trendy thing among podcasters to take several episodes that are related and stick them altogether into one extra extra long podcast. The theory being that if you are interested in that topic as a listener, you will be thrilled and happy to listen to the long form podcast episode. Well, let's test the theory. I have included the legendary Howard Storm NDE. It is probably the most celebrated of all near-death experiences. I interviewed Howard about 10 years ago. Even though he has told the story thousands of times, it always sounds like the first time. For that, he gives the Holy Spirit all the credit. What makes his story a bit different than most, there is no tunnel, no white light, or smiling deceased family members waiting for him. To the contrary, it's the demons who are waiting. Howard, the atheist, received a surprise about the afterlife. Also, in this thicker episode is our friend, Santosh. 'Sandy,' a former Hindu, was surprised to see Jesus on the other side of life, after watching himself die in the hospital. Then, we revisit the impossible drowning story of Dr. Mary Neal, and what happened when a woman woke up in the morgue. And let's not forget one of our most listened to episodes, the story of Faith and her heaven/hell journey. Decades ago I read the first documented cases on NDE's, Life after Life. It all seems so rare, mysterious, and fascinating! Now we know that here in the U.S. alone, there are literally millions of people who have had these experiences. God continues to give us clues about what waits for us on the other side. The reality is that there is a heaven and yes, a hell. Fortunately, He gives us the roadmap to both. Our choice. Let me know what you think of this type of episode where we bunch a bunch of stories together. I would appreciate feedback. Enjoy the podcast! For malignant brain cancers, such as glioblastoma, treatment options have not significantly improved. The current standard of care involves surgery followed by radiation or chemotherapy.Dr. Kesari and his team are exploring a new approach. The PNI (Precision Immunotherapy in the Neoadjuvant setting) method uses targeted treatments based on the patient's tumor genetics before administering chemotherapy and radiation, when the immune system is stronger. The goal is to prime the body to recognize and target the cancer as a foreign entity, enabling the body's own immune system to combat the disease before it is weakened by chemotherapy and radiation.Learn more: 310-829-8265
