Episode 17 – The Real Anniversary Episode Show Notes Welcome to Episode 17! First year of Solo Queue in the books and stumbling into some creative WoW-adjacent media got me thinking about all the value added to WoW by content creators outside of Blizzard. Four Tanks and a Healer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A47d3fjDNSQ Stormwind University: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sgpgEy-UW8 Karazhan Library: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkDNwkGDS84 “What have you done lately?” – 16:52 Trivia is now 42 characters every day – the end is in sight, January 7 For max leveling efficiency, that meant getting 5 characters to 80 I made my 2 Earthen characters Monthly inventory for first time in 3 months Sporadically getting weekly meta quests done to keep gearing the 5 level 80s Addon Recommendation: Altoholic – 25:39 Tracks gold, levels, achievements, time played, and many more bits of individual character info account-wide, server by server, faction by faction. …and Siren Isle – 27:03 Yes, it feels a lot like 10.0.7, but it is kind of different Gameplay is…fine; better than the alternative of nothing until 11.1 Story is hard to take in, maybe just for me? News – 46:34 Still 2 story questlines to come in 11.0.7, Dalaran epilogue and Lingering Shadows Turbulent Timeways coming January 7 – 5 weeks of timewalking New game modes coming to the Character select screen? Might it be… Plunderstorm returns January 14 with less demanding reward system, new rewards, same battlefield And two holidays are wrapping up next week, Anniversary event January 7 and Winter Veil January 5! Winter Veil in your Garrison! – 56:36 The second-best place to celebrate Winter Veil is in your WoD Garrison, which naturally gets decorations and there are WV dailies to add more decorations. If you haven't done it, why not now? I did, during the recording. And, I've been thinking about WoD lately, which had its 10th anniversary in November. 2025 is my 10th anniversary in WoW. Throughout the coming year, I am going to go through some of the highlights of this much-maligned expansion to show what is still enjoyable, including featuring the 3 WoD raids in Raid of the Month throughout the year. Raid of the Month: Antorus (Legion) – 1:12:02 Speaking of RotM, we visit the final raid of Legion, Antorus, the Burning Throne and see where that giant sword came from. Is it worth it? Lots of running around, Eonar a slow encounter, but if you want the 2 mounts and various transmog, then yes, get in there, at least a few times. Did I get any mounts? Listen to find out – no spoilers! Also a plug for the website simplearmory.com – check it out to see all of your collectable items, along with a planner to go hunt them all down! Drink of the Month – 1:30:20 All that raiding has me thirsty for Dwarven Mead and Greatfather's Winter Ale at the Stonefire Tavern in Ironforge, in sight of Greatfather Winter himself! Main Topic: Yep, more Winter Veil, including *SPOILERS* presents opened! – 1:31:50 We head across the molten channel in Ironforge to check out Winter Veil activities, including a ride out to kill the Greench, unwrapping the 2024 presents live, and sharing my Winter Veil wish list, now for 2025. Plans for 2025 and gratitude for the influences that led me to SQ – 1:41:18 SQ plans for the coming year, a Season 2, if you will. Biggest is the goal of two episodes each month, a traditional (and shorter) episode, and a second episode of various formats, including interviews, single topic deep dives, or overflow topics for the month. I want to close this episode with gratitude for my sources of inspiration for Solo Queue including traditional radio, some Blizzard podcasts no longer with us, and many that are. Thank you, fellow podcasters! Honored to be among your ranks. Solo Queue Mailbox – 2:04:16 The second and third reviews on Apple Podcasts from Mr Rascolwitz and Cyn (psmst1). #grateful Truly, thanks for a great first year of Solo Queue! I hope you keep listening and sharing it with friends. Outro – 2:08:47 Thanks to Blizzard and OGRE for audio, my lovely wife, and you for listening. Praises or critics can be send here! Also if there's anything you wish to hear about please send your requests here!Have you ever wondered what could lead a veteran player to quit World of Warcraft after nearly two decades? Join me at the Pig and Whistle Inn in Stormwind as I take you on a journey through the highs and lows of World of Warcraft Classic. From the thrill of taming Broken Tooth as a hunter to the unique quests for class-specific epic items like Rockdalar and the Dreadsteed, this episode is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I'll share anecdotes of my time as a Mage, fondly recalling the days of being a "vending machine" in Ironforge, and delve into the surprising impact of minor UI changes that led one longtime player to walk away from the game. Our discussion also touches on the intricacies of guild life in Classic WoW. I reflect on my own regrets over not joining a more enjoyable guild from the beginning, which significantly impacted my overall experience. Despite being part of an efficient guild that cleared content, the toxic atmosphere often soured the enjoyment. I'll recount the simplicity and calming nature of Classic gameplay, particularly in leveling and specific raids, and share memorable moments like mage tanking in Blackwing Lair. Ultimately, this episode is a heartfelt reflection on what could have made my journey in Classic WoW even more fulfilling and why finding the right guild can make all the difference. Hope you all enjoy and hope you relate to any of these stories. And I will speak to you all in the next episode!Want some 3D printed Merch, find it here!https://pigandwhistletales.etsy.comSupport the show here:https://www.buzzsprout.com/1196870/supportpatreon.com/Pigandwhistlehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/PigandWhistleSocials :Twitch : https://www.twitch.tv/pigandwhistletalesYoutube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAOi6rHO3x90lOmmb82Jv1wWebsite : https://www.pigandwhistletales.com/Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/pigandwhistletales/Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/PigAndWhistleTalesTry out Buzzsprout yourself! https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=1154066Listen to the podcast on other platforms:https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/pig-whistle-tales-from-azeroth-gabriel-nsa902LrQVw/https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/pig-whistle-tales-from-azeroth-1315927https://open.spotify.com/show/5ZTkLtQvRSm4PStUfZquWkhttps://podcastaddict.com/podcast/3032607The Music at the start is from Tony Catch they do many amazing cover songs for games you can find the link here:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHiF0dAkbpPMtQSwvAxcapQSupport the showSupport the show here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1196870/support patreon.com/Pigandwhistle https://www.buymeacoffee.com/PigandWhistle
Have you ever become attached to a place in a video game? A virtual environment that you've obviously never visited in the flesh but which you start to think of it like a real place? Maybe the dwarven capitol of Ironforge in World of Warcraft? The spaceship The Normandy in Mass Effect? Link and Zelda's land of Hyrule? Maybe you you have become so familiar with those virtual places through repeated navigation and interaction that you attach importance and character to it like you do your childhood home, the first place you ever had a part-time job, or the neighborhood through which you walk your dog? Or even a whole city? This is a relatively new concept that some researchers, such as my guest expert this episode, call "sense of place."
BIO:Chroma was created when the founder was looking at natural solutions to speed healing after a climbing accident. When there were no other high power density devices on the market, the Ironforge was born, quickly followed by a handful of other light devices designed to make a big impact with only a small lifestyle adjustment.Meet The Founder...Chroma began when Michael Chapiro, a NASA, NSF, Air Force, and MDA funded engineer, injured himself rock climbing...While searching for a solution to help heal a partially torn A2 pulley in his finger, Michael discovered a clear market gap. All existing red & near infrared (NIR) products were simply stock greenhouse panels with the LED's swapped out. Before the prototype of the Ironforge, there was nothing built for targeted high power density light treatment. SHOWNOTES:
Today's hosts: Bentolas, Gershom, and Woolly Listener discretion advised You know how the cold open to the show is often completely unrelated to WoW? Anyway I'm pretty sure Nickelodeon's Doug is a sequel to Caillou. Think about it - Doug is equally as unimpressive and incompetent as Caillou. Dude can't do anything right. Also he still has that stupid haircut. Anyway... Wwwhat's up swingaz? On today's show: Alextrasza, some cool news for balance druids, our usual trivia - but let's start with some jokes! They say that during sex you burn off as many calories as running around the perimeter of Ironforge eight times. Who the hell runs that far in 30 seconds? Question of the Week! What are your thoughts about Chris Metzen returning as full time Creative Director over Warcraft? MackDye: Super excited as he is the original founder or one of them. I'm most excited for people like @Woolly who will be a Blizzcon this year because when Chris hits the stage there is going to be a very loud standing ovation and his badass pre-announcement speech. "HORDE WHERE YOU AT!! ALLIANCE ARE YOU HERE?!?!" Its going to be chills down the spine and goosebumps. Aaron: I'm excited to see him back so he can just use Thrall as his personal OC. Make him incredibly un-transparent again [4:09 PM] “Thrall! I thought you were away to oversee the shaman council!” “I tired that, but people weren't buying the board games, so I decided to come back since I started the… shaman council.” Slidewhistle: I hope he starts writing sad thrall fanfic again and makes everybody mad a second time Kamil: Remembering that Chris Metzen was behind all of world of warcraft I am looking forwardt o him being back on WoW team full time! The party is invited to a tavern known as Eclipse, for drinks by Vhomner, a dwarf. They partook in tea, ale, beer, cocktails, mead, and Fey Wine, the latter which is not fit for human consumption. Nova and Kollar went out to the Fighting Arena to engage in Pitched Combat. everyone followed except for Beowulf and Vonather, who shall be refereed to as Von for all eternity. Kollar sent a prayer to his god and his god approved. Kollar ended the fight in 1 blow. It was decisive. After the fight, Kollar took Nova to be patched up. Olivia, filled with fury, hisses to Nova that her failure would be punished. Olivia made to leave Ironforge, taking Nova away, presumably to receive her punishment. The party made a plan, a bad one but also a slightly effective one before following suite. The Party pursues Olivia. Marvin moved into position to cast Mage Hand to untie the horses while a rather dumb Sorcerer decided to convince the horses to change direction by casting Minor Illusion and making the sound of a Fireball. The horses split off, causing the cart to crash. Nova, chained and bound, tumbled out of the cart, crashing into the dirt. Olivia got out of the cart, only sporting minor cuts and abrasions. Olivia looked at the party, the Party looked back. Kollar walked forward and gave Olivia the smolderiest smolder that ever smoldered a smolder, seducing her as well as Nova and Opal. Olivia, now sufficiently distracted by a rather mute Paladin, did not immediately notice some party members carefully bringing Nova into the cart. When she did notice, the cart began to move. Opal, Von, Beowulf, and Kollar were the only ones not in it, apart from Olivia. Von, fearing for his life, made a casual walking dash to jump into the cart. They thought they were safe. They were not. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we return to Blizzard's 2004 classic MMORPG World of Warcraft. We talk a bit about the grind, a notable MMO moment, some differences with world layout and characterization over time and character, as well as other topics. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Up to level 20 Issues covered: hitting the Classic grind, fetch quests, zone refinements in modern, finding the right quests for your level, not leading you by the nose (vs not knowing the best way to go), having a sense of mystery, going from Coldridge to Dun Morogh, having curiosity about the world, being conditioned to a reward schedule of a different type, buying a weapon due to slow positive reinforcement, limits of combat mechanics, feeling like you had to grind out levels, lacking an equivalent to the Barrens, the variety of locations in Stormwind, running into a player who helped us find and finish a quest, having the network of other players to guide you to content, building a world, broadness but not depth in character, traveling long distances, playing co-op even with strangers, complementary character builds, tank/dps/healing triumvirate, flying over a very dangerous area and the exhilaration of what you'll see some day, like visiting a whole new place, progressing from very small to small to absolutely enormous, transitions from place to place, limitations of Westfall as an area, transition from Coldridge up into Ironforge, designing around when you transition zones, stretching quests a little too thin around Thelsamar, order of continent design, limitations of the Alliance, curiosity about retention, Tim's theory about humans as most retained race, approachability of the familiar, wanting different experiences the more games you've played, worrying about money, controlling what's purchasable, the importance of money, getting abilities for free, having to make interesting or hard decisions about money, running out of money, cutting off experimentation because things are expensive, evolving into multiple currency types, auto-sorting things into bags, the nightmare of inventory management, grognard capture and approachability, setting graphics to the WoW look, getting into a dungeon. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Dark Age of Camelot, Dr. Seuss, Disneyland, Gone Home, Firewatch, Dungeons & Dragons, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Bethesda Game Studios, Everquest, Brad Furminger, Eternal Darkness, Nintendo, Shenmue, Dreamcast, Austin Walker, Waypoint Radio, Makendi. Next time: A new game: Shenmue (check Twitter for how far) (And to 30 for a future WoW episode) https://twitch.tv/brettdouville, @timlongojr, and @devgameclub DevGameClub@gmail.com

We finally dug into the news of BlizzCon! This week we brought in many of our guests, and Xortz crashed the party. Don't ask us how we smuggled Horde into the Stonefire Tavern in Ironforge. There was a shortage of seats, so Frazley was forced to dance on the table---much to the horror of the others at the table. In this episode, we discussed what we got right, and what we got wrong. A good time was had by all, and no one was too drunk by the end from Frazley's transitions.
We're Jenn and Trin and we're here to say: you do not have to be nice and giving tuh-day. You don't have to do crappy favors for friends all the time. And you don't have to forgive people who wrong ya. In this episode, we answer: "I don't want to write a letter of rec for my friend, do I have to?" and "My friend neglected my pet while he was catsitting!" Ohhhh, let us at 'em. (PSST: Listen after the credits for a blooper.)
E3 2016 + The Warcraft Movie (Non-Spoilers) In this episode: E3! Void has spent every second of his spare time this week watching E3 press conferences and compiling the news for people like Beej who want to know but don’t have the time (or patience in Beej’s case) to watch the feeds. This year’s E3 is a mixed-bag, but there is a lot of good stuff being talked about. There are no “blow up the internet” announcements, but we do finally get to see progress and gameplay from titles that have only been previously announced, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We go through each of the press conferences and live streams that have happened at the time of recording and talk abotu what, if any, standouts there are and discuss the big trend of E3 2016: early 2017 release dates. The Warcraft Movie! Both of us fall solidly into the 8/10 category for the Warcraft movie. We went in expecting nothing, but were more than pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. We aren’t raving fanboys, but are fans of the universe and think that the creative team handled the IP very well. We discuss our favorite cameos and moments in the movie, how well it was adapted from the source material, and even talk briefly about the cinematographer’s use of establishing shots that work for worldbuilding, but also setup moments that only Warcaft fans will get (such as the first time we see Ironforge...plus there’s a murloc in the river, y’all! Murgleurglrurglrlrlrlrgurglr!). While we were both in the theater with only a handful of other people, the movie did so well in China that it is already making profit. That gives us hope for the sequels and franchise that we had no idea we even wanted. Weekly Geekery Void - Forfeited his geekery for our major E3 discussion this week. Check out his massive roundup at Video Game News Now Beej - Went to “An Evening with Stephen King” at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, and walked out with three (3!) autographed copies of King’s new novel, End of Watch. Beej kind of fanboyed out a bit, and it was adorable. Episode #45 Timecapsule: Aside from hosting a single low-level quest and providing an inexpensive way to travel between Ironforge and Stormwind, the Deeprun Tram is also home to a few rarely seen creatures. In the subterranean-lake portion of the tunnel, the water hides a Naga Siren, a Basking Shark, a gnomish Deeprun Diver, and a […]
Episode #44 Timecapsule: Deep under Ironforge, would you believe that the goblins have constructed a carnival and amusement park? Only today, do I feel comfortable enough to share one of these least seen destinations in Azeroth. The only access point down into this goblin amusement park is through a wild waterslide that starts in the […]
Episode #25 Timecapsule: Tucked into the southern edge of the Wetlands zone, a secret farm is tended by dwarven farmers. The farm and surrounding plateau can only be accessed by descending the mountain up from Dun Morogh’s Ironforge Airport. The landscape comes complete with ram stable, icy waterfall (with skeleton behind), roaming farm animals, Ironforge […]
Aprillian, Glanthur and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Actually no Ashayo this week. But he'll be back in a couple of weeks. Also, we did have some sound issues with this episode, so we apologize in adavance. Write us at ctrlaltwow@gmail.com Contest Reminder: Submit an email and be placed in a drawing. iTunes Reviews - please! What We've Been Doing: Aprillian Levelling Enchanting on The Jasper [Large Radiant Shard] [Greater Nether Essence] [Lesser Eternal Essence] Saw a level 11 in Stormwind yelling for 4g to buy him some boots. Spent Friday morning transferring over pets to the alliance side. Aprillian went out on the Mana cells daily. Thinking of transferring some toons to the new realm. Playing WoW while eating breakfast in Denny's. Did the Bring me the Egg Quest in the Nagrand with the two DK's Epril and Elyte. It was hard getting the trampoline just right. But one egg worked for both, so that was cool. On the train back, wasn't too sure about the signal. Took Epril to get the Tortured Stone quest. Try to do quest that require individual looting when I can only play one. Also transferred over Pets for my alliance toon to sell. Doing a brisk business. My horde toon at the NAH in BB is a level 39 mage. Comes in handy. I set her hearth to BB, she can teleport to UC and TB for cockroaches and prairie dogs respectively and then hearth back to BB. I still have a toon on that account in Eversong Woods to buy dragonhawk hatchlings. Sunday night queue queue on ER so went to Lethon. I had Belover in WC grinding leather. She was at 60 this pass week, I'm getting her to 150 in WC and then she'll move on. She summoned Aprillian, a level 13 Rogue and Aprillian is getting nice drops including the Gloves of Fang. Monday night I was stuck in Chicago, I was put up in a room and played WoW. I took Aprillian out to do a daily. Monday evening queues on ER, logged into Lethon and took my DK's there out skinning and herb picking in WC. Why are the herbs in WC 100 Kingsblood and 125 Bruiseweed Logged into ER a little later on. Fought Bangar, one of the Nessinwary Elite with the two DK's, a piece of cake. Went over to the consortium and turned in some crystals and became friendly. Epril, the miner, bought some JC patterns she can't use yet. Nothing for inscripters, poor Elyte Did some more Consortium quests, but then some horde were attacking Haala. I was going from DC to Providence and thought I had a good connection One small problem, find herb and find minerals resetting at log in, a pain if I forget to turn it on. Decided to check on my AH alt, almost sold out of everything. Also decided to Glanthur Respeced Arlaerus from Protection to Holy and leveled him from 70-73 Doing Heroics with Glanthur and collecting Badges of Heroism Lots of Icecrown dailies Dwarven Alliance is a good guild! The Bladed Edge So there I was... wandering through Grizzly Hills on my way to snapping up my Northrend Explorer achievement... while listening to Episode 96 (specifically the emails section)... when I came across some critters in the pvp area of Venture Bay. As Forlornelf said... four deer and four mice! So... to answer the question: yes, I did know about them (about fifteen minutes before I heard it mentioned in Episode 96)... but Ol' Blade's not so egotistical to not be able to admit when he doesn't know something about something... WHY those critters are there, specifically... and why they're in the configuration they're in - four deer and four mice... and why they have multiple groups of them all climbing the hill every thirty seconds or so from 20,77 to 20,72 (I saw two distinct paths of them)... I have NO idea. But yeah... good find, Forlornelf... not many people travel out that way. I debated and debated as to whether I wanted to do the world pvp in the area... the quests being worth xp and all... and decided to continue my solo project... the results of which I hope to be able to provide soon... As mentioned, Ol' Blade's been travelling hither and yon across the world of Azeroth (and Outland) striving towards a few achievements - partly because the best way to experience the game is by going there. So I went. To Stormwind. And took the tram to Ironforge... but not before jumping off midway to catch a look at Nessy the Sea Serpent! Also... what's the deal with the gnomes in the Deeprun Tram tunnel? One's named Haggle... he seems to be a /nod to the movie Labyrinth and the character 'Hoggle'... he was short and ugly too... but there's a second gnome... Monty... and he's got three boxes behind him... perhaps a 'Let's Make a Deal' Monty Haul reference... the problem is... each of those boxes is full of rats... and as this Monty fellow is a 'Rat Extermination Specialist'... I somehow doubt there's a wad of cash in Box Number Three. Onward... to Ironforge... fished up my Fishing Diplomat achievement while I was there... and nearly ran afoul of some over-eager Alliance players that thought I would be easy-pickings as a PVP target. Needless to say... I remained unscathed. Took a few screenies of the Dwarf bankers I mentioned before... just so I can say I did it... And by the time this episode airs, I'll have gone back at least once more to try to fish up Old Ironjaw one more time. That is... unless the randomly wandering, stealth-detecting level 80elites in Stormwind and Ironforge don't catch me first. ('Cause you Alliance players don't seem to be able to... ZING!) But yeah... I haven't moused over the patrolling NPCs in Orgrimmar or Thunder Bluff in a while... but last I knew WE didn't have level 80 goons all over OUR major cities... For all I know, we do... but even if we do... somehow I doubt we have anywhere near as many. Ah well... those super-elites are probably a good thing... they're probably the only thing stopping ol' Blade from setting up in Stormwind as my hometown... that and the lack of a friendly innkeeper. Moving on. From the 'Dirty Little Tricks' Department: Back to Rogues again... this time we're being extra-especially sneaky. As you may all suspect, Ol' Blade doesn't make ALL of his money by questing or even playing the Auction House Stock Market... a respectable chunk of Ol' Blade's finances are gotten via the "five-finger discount"... for those not already aware... I pickpocket every chance I get. Some of the higher level mobs in Northrend are netting me upwards of 50-75 silver per pickpocket. Go through a couple dozen of them at a time... especially if you can find a host of (non-aggressive) Neutral ones. Here's another macro fit for saving space on the hotbar: /cast Sap /cast Pick Pocket The benefits of this little combo are obvious. If, for some reason your pick pocket was to fail, you pop out of stealth. Tapping this combo lets you at least have a sap on the mob allowing you a decent chunk of time to simply run out of aggro range long before the sap wears off. Quick and dirty. From Ol' Blade's Easter Egg Basket: For all you Lore Buffs out there... it's fairly common knowledge that the Thandol Span Bridge (between Arathi and the Wetlands) was destroyed by the Dark Iron Dwarves. There is a corpse underwater beneath the bridge that starts a (so far as I know) Alliance-only quest called 'Sully Balloo's Letter' (You deliver the letter to Sara Balloo in Ironforge) Now... here's where things get interesting... Sullivan Ballou was a soldier during the U.S. Civil War who sent a letter to his wife Sara on July 14, 1861. The in-game letter is a reference to the real-life letter written by Sully (Sullivan) to Sara. As another interesting parallel, the dwarves of Ironforge and the Dark Iron dwarves have been at each others throats since THEIR civil war... approximately 200 years ago, gametime. And for something a little more light-hearted? A little-known quest in the Barrens. Just outside Crossroads along the road to Ratchet, there will be a hut on the north side of the road... outside you will find a Tauren vendor of bread (Tarban Hearthgrain) and a small Orc boy named Gruk. Inside, though, are two individuals - Duhng, a Cooking Trainer, Guard Taruc (feasting on a bench at the back) and Grub, who gives you a quest called "Dig Rat Stew". It's not a very difficult quest, but the fun part is Grub's comment at the end. "You can't call yourself a seasoned adventurer until you've spent some time killing rats! Haw!" Most MMOs (WoW included) are known to force starting players to kill trivial creatures like rats or insects during the first few levels of play. With this little tongue-in-cheek homage, Blizzard makes reference to this little factoid and also provides a recipe to COOK the rats! Yum! - Show quoted text - Email #1 The Ruk said... Wow, congrats to Aprillian hitting 70! I bumped into her a few days ago while dragging myself through the Outlands, Nagrand I think it was. We were both standing at a flight point. I was so stunned when I noticed the big 7-0 that by the time I came to my senses, she had flown away before I could offer my "grats" in person. So a big /salute on your accomplishment! As someone who has been listening to the podcast for quite some time, I know this has been a long time coming. Keep up the great work everybody, Rukgut December 30, 2008 10:51 AM Email #2 MO shares this link with us: http://www.wired.com/gaming/gamingreviews/magazine/17-01/pl_games and writes: Hello again, as always thank you for your work and we are patiently waiting for your first '09 podcast. I finally shelled out the gold for my mains epic flyer, but now im sad that he is down to double digit gold now!:( I wanted to ask you all about quest helper and see if it is operator error on me or it is what it is. I have loved quest helper and yes it is a cheat button or easy mode whatever people may call it, it does make things a lot quicker, for questing that is of course. But it has always used lots of mb, for me as much as 35 up to 50 mb! My system can handle it but when I turn off QH the game does run smoother and my mb usage goes down to only 30 mb in total. What do you suggest or recommend? I have a laptop so I really cant get more ram but 2 gig's is enough, and if there is a setting i can change that will help that please let me know. Thank you and hope everyone had a great new years. And a shout out to all my friends on wow, and if I can plug my guild, Uptown Tavern, on the Balanzaar server, we have been around from the beginning and have always been a great leveling guild. I have been listening to your show for some months now and have been enjoying it very much, i love how mostly Aprillian and Ashayo are so different in there play styles and there thinking of the game and it brings so much back to us listeners. Its great lol. Well myself, i'm from england so i'm on the EU, server draenor or also better known as Drama EU with the amount that goes on here lol. i have been playing this game on and off for quite some time now (almost from the begining but not quite) my main that i play is a fuzzy Druid tank called Dreamweaver and i am LOVING playing him, tonight i have just come out of Naxx 25 after clearing just over 3 wings of it. One thing i wanted to say is about people saying how easy it is, yes i do agree it is easy (ish) but still its only an opening raid, and how many people have cleared it so far? ofc all the good guilds have cleared it, and why is that? because they are good.... a LOT of people are still having problems with it and cant finish it, have more guilds cleared it than would of before say Pre BC?, Yes.. and why is that? because that's what blizz wanted it to be like. Just wait and see is all i will say about that. Dreamweaver isnt my only toon i play on, infact he wasn't my first. as i have been on and off the game i have QUITE a few toons lol. My first toon was a priest called Aramite and he was my 1st lvl 60 i ever had (if people can remember 60 being the max lvl) i had him and used to raid in the good ole days of Molten Core/BlackWing Lair, didn't get a chance to down Neffy before BC came :(. Just before BC came upon us i was lvling a hunter called Nightweaver and got him to lvl 60, i was having SOO much fun playing him that i decided that he would be my 1st lvl 70 when BC came about as it was comming out very soon, so thats what i did, he got to lvl 70 but i had to get back to my priest as i didn't feel right leaving him to gather dust Stood in a dark damp corner of Ironforge crying :( sooo i managed to get him up to lvl 70 as well and after a while went back to healing with him. But being an altoholic i just had to have more as i loved playing around and being able to learn about an new toon and what they could do, i already had a Healer in epics and also a ranged damage dealer in very good gear so i went to pick out one of my low lvl toons that would be up there close to the action, so what better then a rogue to slice and dice with, being all dark and stabby stabby i had mine called Night (fitting in with my hunter) i enjoyed lvling with him but for some reason i didn't like it as much as my hunter or priest but i stook with him and got him to lvl 70 yet at lvl 70 i still didnt enjoy him as much :( SOOO with blizz bringing out Shamens and paladins to the oppisit factions i didn't jump on the bandwagon until now, i lvled a shammy, it took me quite a while to lvl so i swapped out now and again to lvl a warlock (called nightfall, see how after my 1st toon i started to tie all my toons names together) i got my shammy to 70 (yet another 70 i know) i left them alone and started to enjoy my priest and hunter..... Until things started to look bleak in the guild, things got worse and worse so needed somewhere to get away seeing as all these toons were in the same guild. I had a very low unlooked after mangy druid that i said to myself why not, so after some time he was the only one i was playing and joined up with a very nice guild called Angelic Knights, time passed by and he was lvl 70, even more time passed by and he was in raids passing all my other toons gear lvl. and then it came up to another expansion Wrath and yet another choice to make on who to get upto lvl 80? my priest who was my first toon? my hunter who i had so much fun with? another toon that i had got up? you guessed it, i went with my beloved fuzzball Dreamweaver my one and only cute ball of fur druid and to this day i knew i made a right choice. I'm babbling on a bit here and didn't see the time, its 40 mins past midnight here and i need to be up at 6 :( but ohwell its friday and only half a day so thats not bad. I just want to say thanks to all three of you and keep bringing out a smashing pod cast. Hugs and kisses from a smelly druid that just wants some /hugs (Sorry for this being a total mess, its quite late and i need sleep, hope you can read it ok >.< ) Email # 5 from Ginsue Hey Guys, Love the show. I have been listening now for about 6 weeks or so. On a past episode you talked about your play style of leveling alts instead of playing end game. You questioned that fact that you may be missing something about Wow. The truth is you are missing a large aspect of Wow that is very enjoyable for a large number of folks. This does not by any stretch mean that "you are doing it wrong." You missed some fun raiding in BC that I guess you could go back later and see but I don't think it would be the same. From listening to your podcast I can tell that you enjoy the smaller parts of the game that a lot of the rest of us don't catch or ignore. So though you miss some things it sounds like you are having a hoot doing it your way. I am guilty of running like a mad fool to the end to see the end game content instead of taking my time and seeing everything that there is to see. This play style has its ups and downs like anything else. Have any of you noticed the gal you buy jewel patterns from in Dalaran is named Tiffany Cartier. I thought it was neat. Keep up the good work!! Ginsue 80 Blood Elf Rogue iTunes Review from Ginsue, thanks! Email #6 from Xandarr Question for you that I would like to bring up: How can I get my wife to understand that my WoW play is not an addiction but a way to releive stress at the end of the day. I only play a couple hours a night while we watch TV together. Or on Friday nights I stay up late after my wife goes to bed or I wake up early on the weekends to play while she is still sleeping. How can I get her to think differently about the game? How could I show her the social aspect or the way I play? Does that make sense? Aprillian, Glanthur and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Actually no Glanthur this week. But he'll be here next week. What We've been Doing Aprillian Doing a couple of dailies a day on Aprillian. Mostly trying to get my DK's up so they can play with her. Friday Morning, grinding in Nagrand with theprimall. Didn't realize it was possible for a zombie to loot. Theprimall dinged 63 at 7:11am on Friday and I've been playing her straight through on the train to Washington. She's grinding in the Spirit field, there are mobs galore. Got to 63.5 by BWI Airport at 12:30p In the Train station grinding the Vir'Ani and killed an Arcanist, a Four of Lunacy dropped In Chicago playing in the First Class Lounge, Theprimall dinged 64. She went to the Consortium's camp and turned in over a 100 [Oshu'gun Crystal Fragment]. Then I logged off and went to the website so I can change her name and appearance and I'm thinking of doing a Figure print with her. Then I pulled out Epril to do get her to 64. I'm doing it mostly because at 64 they can get the quests in Nagrand, especially the nessingwary, I love those Renamed ThePrimall to Elyte. I was surprised that was available. I had them grinding in Oshu'Gun because once they hit 64, they can turn in the following quest: Stealing from theives A Head full of ivory Epril dinged 64, then went to Garadand and picked up a mess of quests. Then I decided I want to level a Priest with RAF. I made a Troll Priest and teamed her with my level 6 Orc Shaman who hadn't done the starting are quest there because I took her to Eversong Woods to farm eggs with a BE Hunter. I do not want a way to start at a certain level on any race/class like the DK. This is a horrible idea and would make it impossible for new people to ever get into WoW. Took the twins Epril and Elyte to Ebon Hold for Training. DK training is expensive. Good thing they made money grinding. I don't know what the time limit is but I am sure glad that when you dc, you don't get put back in queue if you log back in right away Lost internet for a while. But when it came back the queue was way too long, went to Lethon server. Got back on later Sunday night, short queue, everybody must be going back to work/school tomorrow. Was actually on a 3G network for a while and able to Dual Box Epril and Elyte. Doing the Nessingwary quest, too bad I don't have a skinner. Got this [Crystalblade of the Draenei] in Nagrand. Crystalblade of the Draenei Binds when equipped One-Hand Sword 70 - 131 Damage Speed 1.60 (62.8 damage per second) 195 Armor +18 Stamina Durability 90 / 90 Requires Level 66Equip: Increases defense rating by 13 (6.76 @ L66). Elyte turned in the osh powder and got her first Halla token. I am thinking of trying the whole pvp aspect in Nagrand this week Ashayo Gobu invited to raid for Vault of Archavon - an instance you can run when you own Wintersgrasp Very quick instance - about 10 minutes, and the boss drops tier 7 loot. Unfortunately you can only run once a week. Tried to run the 25 man variant with 10 players ; cleared the trash fine, but not enough DPS for the boss. Then headed to The Obsidium Sanctum underneath Wyrmrest. Jekle and Hiide started questing in Howling Fjord. Probably only done a dozen or so thus far, but quite enjoyable! Hiide even ran an instance! Dills tanked on his DK and Cairubel healed on her druid. Jekle has healed Utgarde Keep - with Aprillian! Asheal is now fully Holy Tried healing oculus - failed on last boss (while mounted) Heal Heroic Utgarge Keep Try to heal Culling of Strat ; wipeage NYE Alliance Boss raid - Ashayo now has a [Black War Bear] Starting Knights of the Ebon Blade quest lines in Icecrown Death Knight is levelling waaay fast - currently 65 just by running some instances. Levelling Engineering to 300. Jumper Cables. Quest for mote extractor schematic Achievement Day! Blade here... With the Winter Veil festivities all week long in real life, ol' Blade hasn't spent a lot of time in Azeroth... so nothing's really changed... I DO have a Dwarf Guardian character in Lord of the Rings Online, though... a result of someone's valiant effort to show ol' Blade that there are other games out there... other than WoW... ... but Ol' Blade wasn't fooled for a second... What with presents-giving, nog-drinking and visiting of little-sprog relatives... Ol' Blade hasn't had a lot of extra time to throw together a long narrative-style email like I usually do... So here's the nitty-gritty... From the 'Dirty Little Tricks' Department: Following the macro thread I started before... something for Warriors... specifically the Protection-specc'd tanks out there... with the Night of the Living Deathknights (aka Wrath of the Lich King) having spawned all kinds of new and OP tanks, plus Paladins have been spoon-fed their tanking greatness for a while now (wait for it... there's more coming for them in the 3.0.8 patch... a ranged taunt!) Ridiculous, I say. Warriors seem to be being left in the proverbial dust. We / they did get a little bit of a pat on the back with the Protection talent tree revamp in 3.0... quite a few warriors are now leveling as Protection-spec tanks now... but how to make it just THAT much more /awesome? Ol' Blade's got your back, he does... So here's some love for the First-Among-Tanks... the Original and (in Blade's not-so-humble opinion) Best... The Warriors. It's a simple macro... more for saving space on your hot-key bar... and it's great now that Charge can be used in combat... no more stance dancing! /Charge /Taunt Yep. That's it. Again... they're on different timers, so you end up Charging in guns a-blazing, and drop a taunt pretty much the moment you hit the mob. Nifty! Spam it again in six seconds... you can't charge (cause you're too close) but Taunt works just fine! Let's add to it... just to spice things up... Toss in a /cast Thunder Clap as a third line... it won't cast it the first time (when you initiate combat), but any successive times you cast your Charge/Taunt macro, it will Thunder Clap all the nearby mobs... this one's a bit tricky... as TC is on a separate timer, it will Thunder Clap WHEN you hit the macro... if you're too low on Rage to have TC go off, it's fine... all other times, you'll look like you just got blasted away from your Thunder Clap... good for dropping a large chunk of threat on the mobs surrounding you as you speed off to intercept the aggro off the healer... Voila. You're now a Paladin (get it? aoe attack spam?)... without all that mamby-pamby healing 'Oh noes! I'm getting attacked! /bubble /hearth' nonsense. And from Ol' Blade's Easter Egg basket: Ol' Blade and Mrs. Blade have been watching some older movies of late... and one sorta stuck in my head... because it reminded me of the Arcane Protectors in the starting lowbie-Blood Elf zone... it seems both they and Robocop have the same Prime Directives... "Serve the Public Trust"... "Protect the Innocent"... and "Uphold the Law"... Also... the Alliance zone of Elwood Forest is home to many things... Hogger, the level 11elite Gnoll that is the bane of all Alliance players over level 10... as you will inevitably get at least one /tell asking you to 'Hlp kill Hoger plz' as you pass through the zone... ... but did you know there's a Lumberjack in Elwood Forest? One that 'is ok' and 'works all day'...? As a Horde, I don't think I can get him to talk without sticking a shiv between his ribs... but I'm sure you Alliance types could get a few words out of him... he's at the Eastvale Logging Camp. He's named Terry Palin... after Terry Jones and Michael Palin, the Monty Python members and writers of the 'Lumberjack Song'... That's all for this week... next week, I'll share some of my (mis) adventures in Ironforge! As always, an awesome podcast guys... Blade Email Email #1 from Mimdalf Just a note from a fellow guildee, Mimdalf to say Hello, and your doing a great job. Such good chemistry on your show. -- In Fraternitas Email #2 from Mo Hello all at Ctrl alt wow, and listerns, and i guess the Alliance, :) I dinged 80 finally, on my main main, that is the first character i ever made, oh some 3+years ago; Motauren on Balanzzar, yes he is a tauren warrior if you did not guess from the name :) I think you have covered dailies for northrend but would you please suggest any good pointers, possible addons as im an addonholic as well ;/, I have just started doing dailies for some factions and even started the cooking. I was sad that i can only do one perday, what is the deal with that? well thank you as always and another quick point, following up an email from last week, about leveling your weapon skills; depending on what level you are, i usually try to level weapons as i level, but if you are 80 and trying to get the achievements, i find low instances the best places to skill them up. Especially if you need the instance achievements anyways. As a warrior, i am also a weaponholic, i like using all weapons, well I would like to but only my axe is a real weapon for big boy land. Hope you all have/had a great new year and enjoy wowing, -- Mo Email #3 First, wanted to let you know that the Collector's Edition arrived right on time and I gave Frosty to my husband for Christmas, so now he won't feel so left out when my daughter and I have our Frosty pets out :-) Our two guilds of real life friends and family try to run instances, but since we're all pretty casual players and most of us are altoholics, it can be a little challenging. Getting 5 people together with the same 3 hour block of time to play is one thing (and I could write a whole other email about that), figuring out what instance to do and who to bring can take on a life of its own as well. We wind up with a some memorable instance runs, like when we went through Deadmines with 4 draenai shaman and one crazy, gnome warlock. There were so many totems that you couldn't see the gnome at all, though you knew she was there, because all the mobs were attacking her. Thank goodness shaman can resurrect. Or the all female, Night Elf Druid runs, punctuated with yells of 'Going Bear!' as the designated healer pulls aggro and then everyone else switches to their backup roll. We designate two teams of druids: the tank team (one would bear, one cat) and the healing team (one casting, one cat) and switch as needed either because of a terrible pull or when running out of mana. Not to leave the horde out of it, our horde guild is named Hunters'R'Us, so you can guess what kind of groups we put together there. Five hunters and their pets rampaging through an instance makes for much chaotic fun. We also have to be very flexible in our play styles. Depending on who else is on the run, I may be tanking with my gorilla or off-tanking or pulling out my core hound for dps. We also run lower level toons through with some high level help (makes it easier when we can only get three people together). Those runs are fun for the high level toon, since you get to decimate an instance that probably killed you a few times before, and it's good practice for the low level toons: we use the time to try out different shot or spell rotations without worrying too much about wiping the party. Our only problem is the lack of healers. We're working hard to level some paladins and priests to help with healing. So, any tips for leveling healers would be great. Your podcast just keeps getting better. It's fun when Glanthur can join you (to bring a third viewpoint and a little Alliance love) and Blade's letters are awesome. I especially liked his tip about Aspect of the Beast. Keep up the great work! For the Horde and Glory to the Alliance! Karen (I have too many alts and they are all so different, I'm going to stick with my RL identity) Horde on Arathor Alliance on Uther Email #4 from Chad Hi, Long time follower of the show, first time player considering trying my hand at recruit-a-friend/dual boxing. First of all I must say that I love my alts and and sorry that I didn't beat a certain someone to 70. I've been playing for a year and love to try as many characters and classes. I have many tunes near or at lvl 30. I only have one tune that I've stayed with past 30 (Thingoll lve 64 hunter on the Sentinal server) and only did so in order to be able to play a Death Knight. I'm going to be taking part in the recruit a friend program this weekend and was wondering what do you think should be the classes that I should consider running first. thanks, Chad Hi Aprillian, I heard that I won again. I feel a little guilty, so I have decided to send my winnings to another guildie who could use it. Please send an authenticator to: Address Removed He is a friend of mine and plays Asterien in the guild. PS - please reply with all of your show email addresses. Aprillian, Glanthur and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. What We've Been Doing Aprillian: This has been my best week ever. 12/22/08 @ 2141 server time, Aprillian dinged 68. At the advice of Glanthur and Ashayo, she headed to Northrend. It was great and overwelming at the same time. I enjoyed Howling Fjord, the quest were different and fun and I read the quest text. Only got a little confused by the two quest you have to fly to. The first time I did the bombing ship quest, I didn't realize I was suppose to drop the bombs from the air, so I flew out and back and had to go again. Each quest were intricate and not the normal kill and loot and return. I loved fighting side by side with our own NPC's. Plenty of herbs in NR. I loved the dudes in Baleheim, they were suppose to be these nordic giants but their hair looked like dreadlocks. I hope we get that hair style in the game the next exp. Joined a level 70 for the quest and she immediately popped up Free for all and so I left the group. Plays with her boyfriend, ended up being pretty cool. I continued to play just Aprillian. It was very hard to do, I kept wanting to have my skinner with me or a miner. Summoning Felguard when current one loses health. And on Christmas eve she dinged 69. I loved the New Agammand and the gathering of the body quest. The one where you went into the plagued village and made one of those UC guard things and then exploded on the plagued Valkri guys was fun. I am loving the feel of Northrend. Got to the Tusky people, the icebergy look is cool Pumped to get to 70. Christmas day, grinding so hard in NR, it's crazy. Aprillian dinged 70 on Christmas even on her lunch hour Starting to have Space management issues. Bought another Guild Bank tab for We Live to serve Did my first Daily. I suppose I need to go to that island now. And no, I am no hurry to get to 80. Went to put on my first gem and it didn't work. I am loving flying. Aprillian bought the Mythic Spellthread from Scryer, and made one Encountered Queues on Sunday night. Monday I pulled both Epril and ThePrimall and Auruk down to Nagrand. Epril is 63 and Theprimall is 62, so they can't do any quests, but they just followed Auruk and helped him when needed Making money on the AH Talked with nieces and nephews about WoW at Family gathering, way cool Glanthur Ashayo Full week! A second 80 - Asheal dings! Topped and tailed by instance runs on Death Knights. Looks like I'll be levelling just by running instances. Running them with 3 DK's, 1 Hunter, and Jekle for heals. Ramparts, Blood Furnace, Slave Pens, Underbog. Already 63. Tried keyclone with two DK's but because they are both melee, it is hard to position them Professions: - Stopped 'learning' from daily inscription research. There are only 60 minor glyphs - 6 per class. You just stop learning ; it doesn't say anything useful like "you know them all" - Levelled inscription to 425 so I can use the epic offhand. (Ponfarr PM'ed me to say that restriction is being removed in the next patch. YAY) - Cooking achievements to get over 3000 - Sous Chef - 100 recipes ; good money making in AH by looks of it Daily quests: - "Aces High!" Wyrmrest quest opens up at 80. Fairly tricky vehicle quest (flying dragon). Much easier in a party - or dual boxing with key clones - Started doing Oracle dailies - three, but varies each day, and an achievement to do them all. Egg that hatches into things including pet or mount... waiting! Respec! - Changed Ashayo from affliction for 1st time ever. Now a hybrid Destruction/Demonology. DPS much improved. Increased from around 800 dps to 1500. Started running some Heroics with Ashayo, and the difference a strong group makeup makes is significant. Missing: Siphon Life CoExhaustion Dark Pact Unstable Affliction Haunt Gained soul link Fel Domination Demonic Empowerment Summon felguard Heroics - Azjol'Nerub ; trash on first boss tough without cleansing - humbling - Utgarde Keep - easy - Drak Tharon keep - achievements - Better off Dred, Oh Novos! (Palatinus mad tank, Onassi mad healer) Random note of the week: Can fly onto Zepp while leaving Borean Tundra enroute to Org Asheal has managed to heal some more instances: Ran Halls of Stone in Storm Peaks. It includes very "Indiana Jones" type event, followed by a long lore discussion. Quite interesting! Tried helping out with healing in Riversky's Naxx group on Asheal Managed to down 4 Horsemen, Patchwerk, and Grobbulus (first time kill) Winter's Veil Presents! Love having so many alts - got all the presents easily, including jingling bell and both red and green winter helpers. Had decided the jingling bell was most rare, then logged onto alliance and got four of them! Emails and PM From Blade Hey guys... "Professor" Blade here... In my quest to optimize my characters with well-put together macros, I hit a stumbling block. Also... there's a bit of a snag coming up for hunters in patch 3.0.8... we / they are losing a fair chunk of dps. Yeah yeah... I know there arer some hunters out there that are saying 'It's not THAT bad'... but I will counter this naivete with 'It's bad enough when they're buffing a class like Deathknights... making it even easier to /roll your face across your keyboard to win. But I digress... Ol' Blade's not here to rant about silly things out of his control... I'm here to give an edge to the players that still like a little bit of challenge to their game. Those of you that have interracted with me in game will probably know that I vastly prefer to play my Hunter over my Deathknight... because I find the Hunter more challenging. (Seriously! There's are two two-handed tanking swords out there!) That said... of late I was playing around with some macros in anticipation of the upcoming nerf... attempting to figure out how to keep my hunter's dps in the acceptable range... Aspect of the Beast. Have you noticed the new changes to it? It used to be a pretty useless Aspect... only making you untrackable... useful in PVP, I suppose... but not anywhere else. NOW, however... it's got an extra little boost. +10% to pet damage. THIS changes everything. I have that little treasure up almost all the time now. I've also jury-rigged some macros together to cast different Aspects when I used different attacks or items... For example... whenever I mount up on a land mount or my flier, I cast Aspect of the Viper... I won't be in combat ANYway, why not get a big mana regeneration boost while I'm moving from Point A to Point B? The problem came when I linked the macros to the spells I wanted to cast... I'd cast the spell once, and all was good, then I'd cast ot again and the Aspect would turn off! What to do? I searched and searched and finally found my answer deep in the archives of some long-forgotten tome in Ironforge... (Not really, but it sounded good, didn't it?) An Exclamation Point. ! Put an exclamation point in front of your macro text... what this does is makes the command 'sticky' and will cast it only if it's not on/active already. For example... here's the one I've put together for pet attacks: /cast Hunter's Mark /cast !Aspect of the Beast /PetAttack The exclamation point in the second line keeps the Aspect going no matter how many targets you send your pet after... and as Aspects cost no mana, all you'll see is the Aspect popping again and again as you switch targets. If you leave out the exclamation point, you will toggle the aspect on and off each time you switch targets. Here's another one in the event you're hopping on and off your mount, but not in combat... /cast !Aspect of the Viper /cast Swift Green Wind Rider This will keep your Aspect on whether you hop on or off your particular mount of choice. Oh... as a final tip for hunters? To get used to the upcoming nerf, play almost 100% with Aspect of the viper on... the huge damage reduction will make the 3.0.8 patch seem not so bad. Hope that helps! And now a little something from Ol' Blade's Easter Egg Basket... With everyone doing achievements and running hither-and-yon across the old world doing the old-world dungeons, you will inevitably find yourself in Gnomeregan. As an Alliance, it's easy to get there... get yourself to Ironforge, exit the main entrance and run west. As a Horde, you've either got one heckuva run ahead of you, or you can do a small quest chain starting at the Engineer shop in Orgrimmar. First you have to take the quest 'Rig Wars' from Nogg, then Sovik (the goblin engineer) offers a second quest that sends you to Booty Bay to talk to another engineer there (Scooty)... from Scooty you get a little device (Goblin Transponder) that will 'port you to Gnomeregan. Getting back is an entirely different matter, though. While killing mobs in Gnomeregan, you will eventually happen across a White Punch Card. These are used to access different areas in Gnomeregan based upon their colors. You can change the colors of the cards by using special machines called 'Matrix Punchographs'... but that's not the secret. Each color of card has a different string of binary code on it. I'm not going to type them all out here... but I *will* give you the translations... White Punch Card: Thrall and Jaina sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G Yellow Punch Card: If you can read this, you're standing too close. Blue Punch Card: The gnome king wears night elf underwear. Red Punch Card: Help! I'm trapped in a binary punch card factory! Prismatic Punch Card: Message to Castpipe: your laundry's ready for pickup. Second... I know Ol' Blade's been a little hard on the Alliance of late... so I found this little goodie to follow the theme of last week's bank NPCs... All you Hordies out there will have to roll lowbie Alliance toons or sneak into Ironforge like I did... There's three bankers... all of the Stonemantle Clan... nothing noteworthy about the name Stonemantle... but wait... it's a first-name thing again, isn't it! Very astute, my young apprentice... their names are Barnum, Bailey and Soleil. Barnam and Bailey are probably the more commonly known... from Barnam and Bailey's Circus, naturally... Soleil is from the Cirque du Soleil - an acrobatic circus. This gets me thinking, though... how much respect can I truly give the Alliance faction... when they have former circus clowns as bankers? As always, an awesome podcast guys! Blade PM Previous PM | Next PM Message subject: Weapon Leveling From: Ponfarr Sent at: Tue Dec 23, 2008 7:44 am To: Ashayo Message Heard your last podcast. I leveled my polearm skill against one of those heroes in Blasted Lands (you said Netherstorm or Shadowmoon I think....dont know about those guys), but last night I tried again on my gun and found out (like you) that they changed that for those guys too. However, I did read about another method which I have not tried yet. Go fight the healers (monk or something) in Scarlet Monestary. They will continually heal themselves during the fight. You should use a low level weapon with low damage. Email 2 'ello! Marrly, on the Eonar realm, here writing again. Randomly I got to the big eight-zero within a few days of getting the expansion but that is random info. Sadly I never got my artisan Flying training but by my odd luck I got myself the epic engineering plane (A monetary setback) and the bronze drake from the Cavern of Time Culling of Stratholme Time run. Fun... But onto My real question: I myself Can only barely run WOW application once on my computer at the lowest settings. How do you manage to run two or more Wow apps at once? I am frankly confounded about it
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. The title comes from the fact that I have to go to a stupid family reunion . What We've Been Doing: Aprillian I don't know what to do, if anything, with Ardrion. I have a certain fondness for him. He was originally named Ctrlaltwow when I started him on the server. He is now 43 and at 300 in LW, 300 skinning and 275 cooking. But to do anything else, he has to get to 50. Right now he's good for making armor kits for my lower level Rilfire was fishing and not leveling, checked her skill window and she was 225/225. Did a quick search and found she had to go to Dustwallow Marsh and get a fishing quest. Surprised I hadn't done it sooner. She had to fly and ride to two different spots on both continents and fish until she got some speccial fish. Didn't take too long, just wish she had done it sooner and she would be levelling. Of course she got fish that she might be able to sell. Monday night I got a little treat. Palanor, Glanthur's level 22 Belf Paladin, logged on. I tripled boxed with my 3 level 19's, Pri Orc Rogue, Relaq Orc Warrior, Ishaq Troll Priest, and the 4 of us went to southern barrens to do the egg collecting quest. We died a bit, but it was my first time triple boxing this treo and doing multi boxing without any pets. I'm loving the priest and the resurrection but I have to keep her alive. I'm thinking I might want to bring up a warlock and put a soulstone on the priest. Because Palanor was higher, he drew aggro off of Relaq but I can see as we get up higher, Relaq is going to be fun to play. Wed morning took Rilfire. Pri and Relaq into Wailing Cavern. I wanted to level Rilfire's fishing from 225, but then realized Pri needed fishing too. I want to see if she can find a book without opening the crate Rilfire left WC with Fishing at 252. Took her to Falcon watch where she killed and skinned boars. Trying to do more outland stuff, to get Outland greens for Auntrillia Friday night and Saturday went to Family Reunion Thread in Instance forum berating multiboxing Rilfire went back to WC and got 17 pound catfish, sent to bank alt. 2Crazy level 10 belf hunter trying to tame level 11 serpent in WC Sunday night Ashayo EMA! (Extended Maintenance Again!) Decided to start the grind on Ashield and Asheal to get exalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive. Great way to grind for epic flying mount , plus the rewards are very nice for someone decked out in quest greens and some blues. Ashayo's raiding group has pretty much Magtheridon on farm status. Wiped on 3% because a cube clicker died, but downed on next attempt easily. Had the opportunity to play in the beta of WotLK. Completed the Death Knight starting zone. It's like an instanced area - can't just ride out. The mobs arn't static - there is a progression as the quests progress. Pretty much hit level 58 by the end, so straight to Outlands. AIE's Guppers (Gruul and unusual punishment) downed Gruul for the first time this week. And one-shot to boot. Gratz all round! Levelling shaman with RL friends. Run them through WC. Forgot to skill up on skinning, so was stuck at 75 the whole run. Ran out of time to do the escort at the end, so will be back! Fun to play with someone who has never played before. The Great Mail Cleanout Hadn't done it for a while, and was reaching the point of mail being deleted. Decided to level cooking on Hiide (2nd account). Had rediculous amounts of meat and fish on an alt, was just a matter of getting all the recipes. Mage very useful for that - porting here and there. The Aldor rise has a brazier - which can be used for cooking! Also, can land near the Scyer fire and use that - and have a Scryer alt get spices from the nearby vendor. Got up to 365, and ran out of high level mats. But still have enough to level another toon! Email: Email 1 Hello to you, Aprillian and Ashayo! Blade here... To hear my email read aloud over the interweb was... I have to tell you... an awesome experience... To hear great celebrities such as yourselves endorse what I have been doing was even more so! Y'all brought a tear ta my eye... =*) but... to actually WIN your contest! Man... is THIS what celebrity feels like? It's AWESOME! I promise to only use my newfound powers of fame for good, rather than evil... hehe On that note: 1) My address: Screenshots! As per your request, I have enclosed a number of screenshots of Tahrzaan's (mis)adventures in Azeroth... I'll send more upon request... I mention a few scenarios on the blog I have set up detailing Tahrzaan's journey, but sadly I don't have any screenies of some (the Isha Awak kill in Barrens, for example)... and now it's too late to kill him... As an aside, I was actually wondering if there was any tasks, hints, tricks or advice areas that you might feel could be an addition to your show. Oddball Stuff... or News of the Weird and Wacky... Or something like that... I will compile a list in the days to come and see if I can't come up with a whole host of cookies, "secrets" or other things to make peoples' experiences in Azeroth THAT much more fun... Like... - the fishing book that allows you to see 'pools of fish' on your minimap, and where to fish it... - the new fishing quests (like fishing up Mr. Pinchy) - little 'easter eggs' in the game content (like while fighting your way through the Deadmines to get VanCleef's head you'll encounter a Goblin Shredder. Kill it (and the goblin that pops out of it, then look at the dashboard on the Shredder. Unless they changed it, you'll see a familiar face: Kerrigan, The Zerg Queen from Starcraft: Brood Wars. She appears to be the ruler of the goblins as well! Other goblin shredders can be found in Stranglethorn Vale, Ashenvale and Gadgetzan. - or other off-the-wall ways of making gold in Warcraft (or you might keep these tricks for yourselves... but since your count was at above 2000g as of the last podcast, I somehow doubt you're overly-concerned about in-game finances...) If you think it'd make a good addition, let me know (or let's chat a bit so we can see whether personalities are compatible!) Thanks again for the callout in the podcast! My co-workers were looking at me strangely when I suddenly heard my email being read over the podcast... as I listen over my iPod, all they saw was me cheering at the ceiling and yelling 'Woohoo!' =) Thanks again for an awesome podcast! Blade / Michael thebladededge@gmail.com www.nakedmeleehunter.blogspot.com Email 2 Hey mates, Just listened to the podcast... As always a great episode, the link to mine is http://sacred.kkotd.com If you are looking for tons of them (quite a few from AIE ^_^) you can check out http://wowwiki.com/podcast They are trying to clean it up from all the inactive casts but it can take around 12 hours of your life to listen to them all. I have to say you guys are one of my faves, so please please please keep it up! Thanks, Dave aka Theranos (Fur an oes like in toes) Most people can't pronounce my name ^_^ BTW: Alt story, we took all of our bank alts out to Silithus one day, then as we hit Silithus we told everyone to hit the / key to walk. We said you could take any path but you had to keep walking! The first one to Southshore won 1000G for whatever they wanted... We started with around 20 people and ended with around 4 people two and a half hours later... O by the way we forgot to lay down the rule of no Flight Paths but as most of these alts had never left Ironforge, they only had 1 or 2 flight points so it still worked out. That has to be one of my most fun, alt related activity! I am looking for screenshots but I think most of the people have left the guild that took them so *_*... O well I will post screenshots for the Night Elf thing once we do it ^_^... Also FOR THE ALLIANCE RARGH! Email 3 Hey guys wats goin on been listing to ur podcast for about a month now and I thought you kno for being on the horde side u guys arent to bad lol jk. SO ya their it idk if yall cld help me out or you kno someone who cld ur help would help me alot. Thanks again and keep of the podcasts Heon Email 4 Hey again Aprillian and Ashayo, its Triaa again. This week I have a great addon for saving space and clearing clutter from around your minimap. Have you ever wondered why there is so many buttons around your minimap? Minimap Button Frame takes all of those buttons and then shows only one button around your minimap. When you click on this button it opens a frame showing all of the other buttons that were around your frame originally. One great advantage I have found is that it is supported both by titan panel and Fubar. Here is the link I recommend downloading it from: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7929-MinimapButtonFrame.html On another note I finally bit the bullet and created the stereotype night elf hunter this past week. What I enjoy most about my hunter is probably my pet. My 22 hunter has a boar named porkchop :) The name was suggested by one of my friends in my guild. So if you are on the US Lothar Server and see a night elf hunter running around with their trusty companion porkchop don't hesitate to say hey. -------------------------- Thayloo- 70 Mage Triaa- 70 Warlock If anyone has any questions about mods or anything pertaining to them you can email me at wowwarlock2@gmail.com
