Michael Buffer, 8 years after starting to use the phrase, trademarked "Let's get ready to rumble!" in 1992. Since then he's sold the rights to several different video games, advertisements, music albums, and more! As of 2018, he's made $400 million in revenue from the trademark. We here at Left Trigger Right Trigger applaud his achievement and hope he won't sue us for saying his iconic catchphrase. In this episode: Giovanni calls out Jeff Grubb. David wonders how things are the same in different places. Greg taps the well again. Tess hits us with a haymaker. Are You Afraid of the Dark Universe?

Our Phase Two begins at last with a sequel to the only Dark Universe film that actually exists. That's right, it's time for Dalton Deschain's THE MUMMY RETURNS! After obsessing over 2017's The Mummy, Dalton is convinced they've figured out how to turn this franchise around. Have they succeeded? Whether or not the studio is on board, Dalton's about to put Nick Morton through hell in an experimental and yet potentially very crowd-pleasing new installment in the Dark Universe canon. Our partner podcast this week is Left Trigger Right Trigger, your video game book club where the hosts discuss games centering around a new theme every week.

Learn about the short-lived line of The Mummy tie-in games from 2017, then let Gio walk you through his creation, The Dark Universe Omnibus! Left Trigger Right Trigger

You open up your favorite podcast app. You notice there's a new episode of Left Trigger Right Trigger, your favorite video game podcast. Your momentary hit of dopamine that comes with seeing a new podcast episode suddenly turns to fear as you see the episode title: Crate? What could crate episode even be? Don't worry friends: You're about to learn a million things about crate in the span of an hour. David breaks down Link's insurance policy. Giovanni reveals Tony Hawk's mail crimes. Greg tells us his favorite piece of a shape. Tess goes back to Pissember. If you want to open up a whole crate of LTRT content, you can support the show over on patreon.com/LTRT. Left Trigger Right Trigger

It's getting hot out there. Wouldn't you like to cool off with some nice, refreshing, thirst-quenching paint? Now we know what you're thinking: "Isn't paint toxic?" But here at Left Trigger Right Trigger we don't prescribe to such pedantic categorizations like "toxic" or "healthy" or "pedantic." We just aim to make sure you're taking care of yourself the best way we can, which in this case is a big tub of paint right down your gullet.* What're our favorite ways to enjoy paint via video games? Well we're glad you asked! Giovanni gets industrious with some definitions. Greg comes face to face with his inadequacies. David discusses how much joy Pizza brings him. Tess helps shine a light on the perils of giving children wall candy. As always, a huge, huge thank you to our patrons. Your support means the world to us and we hope you'll join our discord! It's Spring in the midwest which means it's time to break out the grill and throw a backyard BBQ on the days it doesn't snow or rain! We love our low 60's cornhole parties here in Ohio, but sometimes an invitation to a good, old-fashioned cookout requires a little more. Sometimes, it requires a plus one. Well today we're bringing a ringer to our barbeques by answering one of the dumbest questions we've ever asked, "What Elden Ring boss should you invite to a barbeque?" As we enter our post-modern phase here at DT!HQ, Matt is here with a frisbee. Kyle violates the sacred rule by turning his plus one into a plus two. Todd tried to trick us all into being part of an intervention for his new friend who steals stars. If all of those sentences sound disconnected, you're right. Matt, Kyle and Todd have never played Elden Ring, so we had to call in a guest this week and Giovanni Colantonio answered the call!   Recommended reading: Special thanks to Giovanni for joining us on Debate This! today! Listeners, this is it. The episode you've all been waiting for. "If you try too hard to categorize things into subcategories, you end up with Stoup." This week, it's all about Soup! Tom talks with Kadi Diop (@kadi__d) from the YA Podcast about how soup is the king of shareable meals, food security, and stretching ingredients a long way. Then, Tom calls up Giovanni Colantonio (@MarioPrime) from Left Trigger Right Trigger and Duckspeak to dive deep into the semantics around what makes something a soup, a salad, or a sandwich, and, of course, whether or not cereal is a soup. Also, what is a "stoup" and has Rachael Ray ever committed a crime against humanity? What's your favorite kind of soup? Thank you so much to everyone who wrote in for our first #AskTOAFN of Book 2! We answered as many questions as we could. If yours didn't get answered, we hope you'll try again next time. And let us know if you enjoy this episode and whether we should keep doing this. Cool stuff mentioned in this episode: Our revamped merchandise page is now live! Listen to Greg (voice of Yllowyyn) on the Left Trigger Right Trigger podcast, and in his band Duckspeak, who have a new EP out. Wil Williams writes podcast reviews and obviously has impeccable taste. Kat on Tumblr also has great tastes in podcasts (even if her question almost broke us all up.) CONTENT NOTES below: CONTENT NOTES: From 32:08-33:00 a real-life mass shooting comes up in the course of our discussion. End of listed CONTENT NOTES. Release dates for Chapter 2 will be announced in the very near future. Stay tuned!

Today, we bring you yet another podcast pilot from within the TOAFN family. Greg Schulz (plays Yllowyyn) is one of the minds behind  LEFT TRIGGER RIGHT TRIGGER. It's a book club...for video games! We hope you enjoy it. If you do, make sure to subscribe to them on iTunes and follow them on Twitter. And for everyone who enjoyed the TAKING INITIATIVE pilot last time, here's a reminder that they have a new episode out tomorrow, Monday March 6. And if you still can't get enough D&D after that, you might enjoy YOU MEET IN A TAVERN. And of course...we'll be back with the premiere of Book 2 on Sunday March 12 - one week from today. See you then!
