With a background in fine arts, she had no prior experience in computer graphics when she was hired to design the first digital icons and typefaces for the Mac. Using graph paper and pixel constraints, she created some of the most enduring symbols in tech history, including the Happy Mac, the Command key symbol, and the original Mac fonts like Chicago and Geneva. Her designs humanized technology, making computers intuitive and accessible to non-technical users. After Apple, she continued shaping digital interfaces at NeXT, Microsoft, Facebook, and Pinterest, and today, she serves as a Design Architect at Niantic Labs while selling limited-edition prints of her iconic designs.About Amy & Jen HoodAmy and Jen Hood are the twin sister duo behind Hoodzpah, a Southern California-based branding agency known for its bold, strategic, and personality-driven design work. Since founding Hoodzpah in 2011, they have worked with major brands like Disney, Nike, and 20th Century Fox, creating memorable identities and custom typefaces. Beyond client work, they are passionate about helping creatives build successful careers—they wrote Freelance, and Business, and Stuff, a practical and empowering guide to running a creative business, and have launched resources for designers, including brand identity courses and custom fonts. With a fearless approach to branding and a deep understanding of creative entrepreneurship, Amy and Jen have carved out a distinctive place in the design world while uplifting the next generation of creatives.Amy and Jen's Book: Freelance and Business and Stuff by Amy Hood and Jennifer HoodFollow Amy & Jen:Amy's Instagram: @amyhoodlumJen's Instagram: @thegoodhoodStudio Instagram: @hoodzpahdesignWebsite: hoodzpahdesign.com ____View all the visually rich 1-min reels of each woman on IG below:Instagram: Amber AsayInstagram: Women Designers Pod

Pokémon Go is more than a worldwide craze that inhttps://www.patreon.com/QAAspired millions to hunt Zigzagoons through smartphone-enabled alternate reality. According to intelligence officials in several countries, it's also an information security threat. Since the game's release by game developer Niantic in 2016, people have pondered the potential uses of the data that's collected by aspiring PokéMasters as they meander outside and scan virtual PokéStops. Travis, Jake, Julian, and Liv dive into why a children's game about collecting fighting pets has inspired such paranoia. Including how Niantic's startup ancestor Keyhole, Inc. was saved from bankruptcy by the CIA, how Niantic's former parent company Google committed one of the worst data privacy violations in history through the “Wi-Spy” scandal, and Niantic's recent announcement that Pokemon Go data is being used to produce an artificial intelligence system they call a Large Geospatial Model (LGM). NFT games is the new topic that's been gaining major momentum in the metaverse/web 3 conversation. The fundamentals of NFT games is that the ownership model of game assets are user owned and transactions are encoded on the blockchain. This creates a utility value for NFTs where it can actually live in an environment where it brings tangible value to people, rather than just being say a jpeg piece of digital art that's hard to show off. The magic of NFT games shows through the economic opportunities that it creates for people. A simple example is Axie Infinity which is the most popular NFT game right now. In the game, people can buy these axies, which are these adorable pet creatures that you can train to get better and better at battles. As your axie wins more battles, it appreciates in monetary value. Based on the work you do ‘training' axies, you can make money off of your hard earned work (through the appreciation of that asset). In fact, a huge fraction of the population in the Philippines have started to rely on playing axie infinity as their main source of income. While the Axie example is straightforward, as you can imagine, for more sophisticated games and experiences, the infrastructure to power these transactions gets more complex.  In this episode, we will explore the building blocks to help foster the NFT game ecosystem for developers, players, brands, influencers, etc.ABOUT THE GUESTJohn Linden is the CEO of Mythical, a next-generation game technology studio creating universal economies driven by player ownership of NFTs with utility. Date: June 07th, 2016. In the virtual and augmented reality world, battle is waged between headsets — Morpheus vs. HoloLens, Vive vs. Rift. Which device holds the key to our next “real” world? But what if the future of augmented and virtual reality rests on a device in your pocket? Mathieu de Fayet, VP Strategic Partnerships at Niantic Labs, the innovative studio behind Ingress and pioneers of ” real world gaming”, examined the future of augmented reality and its next big platform: the smartphone. Moreover, he discussed how augmented reality bridges the gap between the real and virtual worlds and how developers and brands can harness it. Arthur Protasio, founder of Fableware productions and narrative designer, analysed new ways of creating and telling stories in gaming. Visual artists never fail to inspire, but we went all the way to Antwerp to talk to Midge Sinnaeve. Fine… technically we Skyped Midge. Though we’d love to go there! Especially after talking to him. We talk VR, books, 3D scanning, cycling in tunnels, scifi and SyFy. Part one of our conversation is here. Midge share’s his projects and work on his site, TheMantissa.net. He likes to call this open source artwork. Our guest told us his open source artwork was inspired by an open source demo reel he saw once. Midge says many architecture visualization artists are using Unreal Engine to create building renders. Everyone agrees that augmented reality is far superior to virtual reality. Chris recently wrote about that. They briefly talk Ingress & Pokémon Go by Niantic Labs. Speaking of VR, Midge has used the Oculus and the HTC Vive. Why can’t VR gear look as comfortable as Johnny Mnemonic. Chris recommends Ready Player One to Midge. In turn, Midge suggests the The Expanse book series, which the television show is based on. Midge has been doing some photogrammetry and of course sharing the results on his site. Midge mentions Jeffrey Ian Wilson, Paul Debevec as he tells us about photogrammetry. You can sculpt 3D objects in Zbrush and then get some textures for your 3D model at not the sponsor, episcura.com. Chris offers to send Midge his yet-to-be-used, ardrino for his photogrammetry rig. There’s a very big DIY community in photogrammetry. He mentions the 3D Scanning Users Group at Facebook. We learn about Antwerp and the St. Anna Tunnel for pedestrians and cyclists. What’s Midge watching? The Expanse of course Sicario The Walk Tron: Legacy Oblivion The Wire Chris and Midge talk about the animated Tron series, Tron: Uprising. Midge loves Tron: Legacy because it is eye candy. Chris’ eye candy choice is Speed Racer. We pour out our drinks in honor of Battlestar Galactica. Midge wants to know what happens in season 3 SGU Stargate Universe, but we’ll never know. An artificial intelligence that designs websites? The Grid. Find Midge’s projects at TheMantissa.net or Instagram. Hire him at Daze.tv or chat with him on Twitter. Thanks for listening. Please find us on Facebook or Twitter and talk to us, we’re starved for attention. Thanks for listening. Support Montreal Sauce on Patreon
