Retired educator is the perfect person for everything. Apply to present at national conventions. Take that momentum into retirement. Form the corporation (S-Corp), get a credit card, get an accountant. Start an email list. (Constant Contact, MailChimp, Convertkit, etc.) Email the list weekly. Write a book (ebook). (Also have a shorter free lead magnet.) Repurpose content (1 blog post per week becomes blog post becomes newspaper article, podcast, YouTube, Lumen5, Headliner, social media posts, Medium, LinkedIn, HARO). Word of mouth is the best social media exposure. (Keep in contact with people you worked with before retirement.) About our Guest: Dr. Frank BuckDr. Frank Buck is currently ranked #1 in the world by Global Gurus Top 30 in the "time management category." He is a public speaker, productivity coach, and author of Get Organized!: Time Management for School Leaders. Frank started as a band director and then moved into school administration as an assistant principal, principal, and curriculum coordinator. Since his retirement from public education in 2009, he has spoken to audiences throughout the United States and internationally. His mission is to help busy professionals achieve total control over their time and the peace of mind that nothing is falling through the cracks. Frank’s nuts-and-bolts approach, along with his blend of content and humor, has made him a favorite with audiences. Ask The Tech Coach: A Podcast For Instructional Technology Coaches and EdTech Specialists

In this episode of YouToring.com (http://YouToring.com) on the program to discuss how Virtual Reality and Analytics are helping to change the way our teachers are creating a flipped classroom. In this episode, we discuss: How should we define “Flipped Classroom” in 2019? What are some of the pros/cons about Flipping? Is there a best way to flip? Is there a wrong way to flip? How can Tech Coaches both model, and support our teachers in Flipping their classrooms? Apps To Use When Setting Up Flipped Classrooms Resources About our GuestAdam Bevan, CEO YouToringHaving completed a double major in English and Drama in 2009 in the leafy green University town of Loughborough, England, Adam didn't expect at the time to end up as a leading EdTech provider in Chicago just one decade later. Having completed an MEd to take his passion of teaching into the classroom, Adam was commended for his outstanding pedagogy at several large events, including a school coalition which found Adam's utilization of technology in the classroom to be outstanding. Content in the classroom, Adam didn’t begin his own tutoring platform until 2014 when a concerned mother from the school he was previously teaching at tracked him down to his new school to convince him to tutor her daughter, claiming ”You were her favorite teacher; she really needs good grades in English to get into Law School!” He soon found that he loved being able to experiment with thematic learning and bleeding edge edtech in this own tutoring practice and quickly realized the power and potential of one particular technology: virtual reality. Adam founded YouToring (a virtual reality teaching platform) in 2018 and has already reached students on 3 continents. In this episode of the TechEducator Podcast (https://www.teachercast.net/tep) , we discuss how Social Media can be used as a positive thing in the classroom environment.  In this episode, we discuss: Google I/O ConferenceNew Google Assistant can make phone calls for you New Gmail Features Is this the end of the world? Social Media in the ClassroomBest Practices for Social Media Account Creation 11 Tips for Social Media Success by Sam PattersonOnce a day, share something specific. Take a close up picture of one kid’s work, get their hands in there. Don’t engage the current debateThat new thing everybody is ranting about? Ignore it, it isn’t important. The debate is more energy than it is worth. Follow widely unfollow freelyIf you are a teacher, follow teachers. If you are running a classroom account, follow classroom accounts. Unfollow at the first sign of trouble. Never feel guilty about unfollowing. Don’t show your students the raw feed unless you have a good reason. Expect your kids and parents to read your feed They won’t read all your posts, but they will see every mistake you make. Make the right ones. Lift up someone else’s workShare the work of the teachers and classrooms you follow. This is an easy way to stay active and share positive. Ask questions If you see a project you like, ask a question. People love to answer questions about what they shared. Everybody learns from good questions. Chats aren’t required People can get really excited about Twitter chats, you don’t have to. They can be overwhelming and they are not for everyone. Turn notifications off Seriously, evil corporations are reshaping your brain’s chemistry through notifications. I am not kidding, turn that crap off. Use threads to tie together a group of examples Post a “Title tweet” that has the name of the assignment and then “thread” the rest of the examples as replies. Interact with those who feed your practice. If you find someone’s tweet useful or inspiring, tell them. Don’t just RT it, say “thanks” it matters. Never forget these platforms were built to monetize outrage and disagreement, don’t make money for them. We left 3 important points off of this list. . . . . What are they?
