(Reciting that list is difficult enough to remember, let alone accomplishing all of those things). This conversation will get you off your butt as a writer. It's 78-minutes of learning how to generate creative inertia for yourself — because that's where Ryan thrives. He's a no-BS writer.  And by “no BS,” I mean: no coddling or making excuses for himself. He just does the work.  Generating that kind of momentum is exactly what fires me up, and exactly what I teach at Write of Passage. If you're feeling called to write, you should join one of our programs. I'm telling you: Write of Passage will light a fire inside of you. I recently heard a story about Ryan that sums him up in a nutshell. His editor called to congratulate him on hitting the #3 spot on the New York Times Bestseller list. His book had only been out for a week. I don't know about you, but I would be camped out by the phone, biting my nails while I waited for that call.  But Ryan? Warning: This episode briefly mentions suicidal ideation and may not be suitable for all listeners. What happens when we realize all our methods to find healing are merely ineffective attempts of self-help? How can pain lead us into a true understanding of our utter dependence and need for God in our lives? Former country music recording artist and author Granger Smith found himself attempting to do everything "by the book" when it came to dealing with the drowning death of his young son, River. He did everything self-help offered when it came to finding healing and yet, it all fell flat. It was then that God revealed to him that he did not have the power to heal himself. The healing he needed could come only through the gospel of Jesus Christ. From then, Granger turned away from a nominal faith into a saving one and was able to experience the true depths of healing from his shame and guilt over the loss of his son. He gave up his successful music career and began seminary and ministry in his local church. Granger recently wrote about the story of this journey of losing River and his newfound authentic faith in his book, Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward After Loss and Heartache. In this episode, Davey and Granger talk about how self-help can't truly heal us, the difference between a nominal faith and a saving one, and how the gospel is what we need most when it comes to finding healing that can last. If you've ever turned to self-help in an attempt to assuage the guilt, shame, or hurt from your past, only to find it unable to do so, this conversation will encourage you to look for healing in the only one who can truly help: Jesus Christ.   Website: https://grangersmith.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/GrangerSmith/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/grangersmith Book: Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward After Loss and Heartache https://a.co/d/2KY2aLL Up Toward the Light https://a.co/d/2WhNTmo You've heard some of the story, but you haven't heard it all. The Book of Esther has no Divine instructions, no prophecies, no outright miracles. God doesn't even get mentioned. We all love hearing how Mordechai and Esther saved their people in a time of crisis – but does this story have any moral message for us? As we're listening to the Megillah on Purim, what can we learn about coming close to God in our everyday lives?Join Imu Shalev and Rabbi David Fohrman as they dive deeply into Megillat Esther to find an answer to this question. They start off with a very odd set of comments from our sages, claiming that there were angels at work in the Esther story. The Megillah doesn't say anything about angels, so what on earth made the rabbis think that? Rabbi Fohrman teases the possibility that these strange angel stories are all pointing to a link between Esther, a narrative from the end of Tanach, and another story all the way back in Genesis. If we explore that connection, we may eventually find the key to the Megillah's moral message.A Book Like No Other is a product of Aleph Beta, and made possible through the generous support of Shari and Nathan Lindenbaum. Summary:A lot of first-time authors get the same conventional advice: “Just start writing!” While doing something is usually better than doing nothing, “Just start writing” too often ends up meaning, “Waste a lot of time grasping at straws and keep trying to guess what your book is really about.”The good news is, if you want to position your book like a pro, and get the maximum value and ROI out of your book, there are two key questions that you're better off asking (and answering) before you begin to write, so that you can stop wasting precious time, and get started writing an impactful book that helps you reach your most ambitious goals. In episode #137 of The Author's Corner, Robin reveals the two questions that every author needs to answer if they want to position themselves as an expert. Plus, once you answer these questions, you will come out on the other side even more confident about the value your book will provide for your reader!Key takeaways:Why “just jumping in” isn't a good strategyWhy you can't write a book for everyoneThe question you need to ask yourself to discover your unique, saleable conceptHow the comparable books exercise can help you pinpoint your selling pointAnd more!About Robin Colucci:sRobin Colucci is the principal founder of World Changing Books. The Bible claims to be the only divinely inspired word of God. However, there are many religious books that claim to be divinely inspired such as the Koran, the Hindu Vedas, the Book of Mormon, and many other religious works. With so many books making claims of divine inspiration, how do we know the bible alone is God's word? Join Pat as he presents the evidence for the divine inspiration of the Bible.

Most historians and archaeologists view the Bible as a religious work of literature containing a lot of folklore mixed with some historical truth. The Bible claims to be the divinely inspired word of God and that it is an accurate record of God's activity in history. Is the Bible history or folklore? In a recent message, Pat presented evidence from recent archaeological discoveries that have startled the archaeological world and builds a compelling case for the historical reliability of the Bible.

Welcome to Pocket-Sized Podcasting, brought to you by Alitu: The Podcast Maker. And on this episode, we’re talking about booking tools for organising guests or co-hosts. Different time zones and scheduling conflicts can drop you into an endless cycle of messages where days and times are suggested but never agreed upon. If you’re regularly trying to arrange suitable dates and times with others, it’s well worth using a tool like Calendly or Book Like a Boss. These platforms can show folks all the times you’re available, and they simply need to pick a slot that suits them. Another great tool is Doodle which comes in handy for organising groups of three or more. A Doodle poll lets people pick all their available times, and then you’ll see - at a glance - the ones that everyone can manage. Again, those three tools are Doodle, Calendly, and Book Like a Boss. For a deeper dive on this topic, and for links to the platforms mentioned, head on over to ThePodcastHost.com/booking

Pocket-Sized Podcasting With Alitu

Welcome to Pocket-Sized Podcasting, brought to you by Alitu: The Podcast Maker. And on this episode, we’re going to start thinking about podcasting software. The term “podcast software” is pretty general. It could be used to describe the programme or app you use to record, edit, or publish your episodes. Some platforms only focus on one of these aspects, whilst others will do all 3. It’s common for editing software to double up as recording software. Prime examples of these are Audacity, Adobe Audition, and our own Alitu. Many online call recorders don’t have editing functions though - or, if they do, they tend to be really basic. Podcast publishing or hosting software might also offer some basic recording and editing features. We’re going to take a deeper dive into some options here in a future episode. Transcription is also important from an accessibility and legal point of view. There’s plenty of software options on that front, too, as we’ll soon find out. You might even think of your project management or scheduling tools as podcast software. These are tools like Trello, Asana, Notion, Calendly, and Book Like a Boss. Mark Richardson, the project lead at Bancor, joins Piers Ridyard to discuss Carbon, the next stage in DEX evolution, in this episode of the DeFi Download. Carbon provides order book-like functionality on-chain and has already seen over 100 strategies created since its launch on April 20th.SummaryFrom Bancor V1 to Uniswap, the evolution of cryptocurrency liquidity provision has been characterised by significant innovations that sparked DeFi Summer. Although the Automated Market Maker (AMM) was a game-changer, Bancor is turning away from the AMM, recognising the complexities involved in providing liquidity.Carbon, as an on-chain order book functionality provider, offers greater flexibility and control over liquidity provision than traditional AMMs. Carbon's app runs in the user's browser using an open-source software development kit (SDK), which is lightweight enough to run smoothly on a smartphone.Key takeawaysCarbon is a gas-efficient, lightweight DEX that prioritises efficiency while still executing swaps trustlessly. In retrospect, some of the most significant innovations appear obvious, but until an innovation is defined and described, it may not be immediately apparent. The irony of invention is that it is only apparent after it has been discovered. Previously, it may have been unclear why others were not in the right frame of mind to make the discovery themselves.Carbon's development priorities include identifying the demographic that uses Carbon, exploring other blockchain ecosystems, and supporting features that did not make the critical path for the MVP but still need support.Chapters[01:12] What killed the AMM, and what comes next in the world of DeFi liquidity provision?[07:05] How providing liquidity can align incentives and create a social basis for market making in DeFi[10:45] What is the simplest way to describe impermanent loss to someone in the context of AMMs?[13:37] Impermanent loss in liquidity provision and missed profit opportunities[16:02] What are Mark Richardson's thoughts on how Bancor's Carbon can contribute to the concentrated liquidity pools model, and what is the next step in liquidity provision?[18:21] What is a short gamma option, and why is it called that?[23:53] The rise of constant function AMMs and the naive phase of decentralised finance and crypto[26:50] What are the limitations of the Automated Market Maker (AMM), and why is it not the ideal financial instrument for liquidity provision in DeFi? How does Carbon solve these limitations, and what does it do differently?[29:20] Carbon's customizable "buy low, sell high" strategy execution[33:39] Is it possible that CLOBs lack statefulness and a concept of time, resulting in only valid or invalid orders and no if-then statements?[35:27] How does Carbon solve the challenge of creating order book-like functionality and making it easy for users to buy within a certain range without having to pick specific orders, while still maintaining the ability to put trades on in microseconds or nanoseconds and avoiding potential performance issues with state-based logic in order matching engines?[38:59] The genius of Carbon: a simple on-ledger solution for order routing[43:29] Does using the SDK in Carbon for executing positions trustlessly while still submitting the execution to the ledger raise concerns among decentralisation maximalists?[46:37] What are Carbon's plans for the next 6–12 months?Further resourcesWebsite: bancor.network Twitter: @Bancor Discord: discord.com/invite/CAm3Ncyrxk
