Rick Milefchik is the Chief Operating Officer of Access Elevator Supply in San Francisco and Quality Elevator Products in Chicago. Rick started in the industry in 1981 with Montgomery Elevator as a 16 year old high school student, and grew from there. He spent 32 years with Montgomery/Kone and 8 more with ECS Corporation before taking on his current role. Rick met his wife of 33 plus years at Montgomery, and his three children work for him today with AES and QEP. Rick has accomplished much in his career, and all without ever leaving his hometown.

What options do pilots have if they intend to fly in clear airspace near a designated DJI red zone? Today's question is from John, who is working on a project to conduct flight missions around a prison that is no longer functional yet is classified as a red zone by DJI. John would like to know if Pilots have options to fly in such clear airspace and what they would need to know prior to flying. Today's episode is brought to you by Drone U mapping events and classes. We talk about some of the new changes we have made to our mapping classes and course curriculum to stay updated with some of the recent trends in the mapping industry such as going over new products for geo-referencing, geo-tagging, GPS and more. We start off today's show by discussing 3 options that pilots have to effectively fly over red zone while also discussing the approximate times it would take to seek permission. Our option 1 is to apply to FAA to void a red zone and the steps required to seek clearance while flying over such areas. The Qualified Entities Program (QEP) allows Government and Public Safety entities to have their DJI drone's altitude and geo-fencing limitations unlocked and as a certified Part 107 pilot you could seek clearance under the program for conducting flights in red zones. Option 3 is to visit drone-hacks website and navigate through the process of negating geofencing abilities on your drone. Drone-hacks can assist pilots with differing firmware to ensure removal of geofencing abilities. We also discuss an additional option of using drones other than DJI that do not possess geofencing abilities and would allow flights irrespective of DJI's red zone. In summary we discuss the quick and easy steps available for pilots along with the timeline for each option that pilots can pursue to seek permission / unlock the DJI red zone. This week's episode marks 61 straight weeks for Ford as the president steps to the forefront to talk about everything Northeast Mississippi Community College. Ford's focus this week recaps the first week of in-person classes at the college and announces an enrollment increase over the number of students that Northeast saw during the 2020 Fall semester. Ford talks about the Delta variant of the COVID virus and how Northeast has mitigated the cases and those in quarantine to a very low number over the first week of classes through the use of masks and social distancing. Ford encourages everyone to be proactive against the COVID virus and not only protect themselves but protect those around them as well. In a look at athletics, the president talks about the beginning of fall sports with football, baseball, softball, golf, and tennis all having games or matches throughout the fall semester and discusses the Go, Set, Match fund-raiser for a new tennis complex as the college looks to create a state-of-the-art athletic complex around the baseball/softball fields and the football field. In a discussion about the college's QEP, Ford talks about Fridays and the success of professional development and importance of Friday learning opportunities for employees.

The remainder of her career was in the public school system working in the Technology Department where she focused on programs educating parents to get them involved within the district. She created and developed many programs to engage young parents and to this day are still utilized. In 1998 Stephanie Boutte-Phillips became the President of HTEC, where she developed high demand training programs to cater to distressed communities. In 2013 she became the Program Coordinator of QEP and TLEC for Texas Southern University. Throughout her career she has received several awards and worked with many outstanding organizations. They are as follows: 2010 Congressional Woman of the Year Recipient of the Pinnacle Award Elected Board Member of SDM Committee Elected Board Member of St. James School Speaker for Houston Professional Speakers Bureau Volunteer Speaker for Pregnant Teen Mothers Nominated Teacher of the Yea Employee of the Year (2 years in a row) Her personal goals are working within the community volunteering her time with after school reading and GED adult literacy programs. The Madison Collaborative is part of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The goal of the QEP, according to the Madison Collaborative website, is to "enhance educational quality via student learning." The focus of the JMU QEP is to teach students ethical reasoning skills that can be applied in all aspects of their daily life (professional, personal, etc.). Dr. Audrey Burnett, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences and Dr. Kara Kavanagh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Early, Elementary, and Reading Education provide a background on the this initiative at JMU and tips for integrating ethical reasoning into your course(s).
