I've been contacted a bit of late by some media organisations for my response to the news Police had arrested and charged a 45yo former childcare worker from the Gold Coast with 1623 child abuse offences — including rape, against 87 children in Australia. He had worked in multiple childcare centres in Brisbane and Sydney and another overseas where he'd collected nearly 4000 images and videos he allegedly shared on the dark web.The investigation was a joint investigation between the AFP, Qld Police & the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation. I thought I might explain a little about the amazing, incredibly difficult but necessary work the ACCCE do, which I'm not sure, but I think they used to be what I knew as JACET – Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team. Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll will walk away with about $216,000 in lieu of serving out the remaining four months of her contract after she was forced to sensationally resign early as the state's top cop to “clear the air” after mounting pressure over Queensland's youth crime crisis. A mother and her little boy were stabbed to death inside a martial arts studio in Sydney's west shortly before her estranged husband was killed in what police suspect was a bitter love triangle. Anti-doping investigators have accused Melbourne footballer Joel Smith of cocaine trafficking in a dramatic escalation of his failed drugs test probe. On today's Zero Limits podcast we chat to former Queensland Police Officer Keith Banks. Keith joined as an idealistic seventeen year old and emerged with a career of twenty years in deep undercover work, criminal investigation, special weapons, counter-terrorism and criminal intelligence. Keith Banks is one of Queensland's most decorated police officers, a recipient of the Bravery Medal and twice being awarded the prestigious Queensland Police Valour Medal, among other honours. He was a member of the Queensland Police Force for two decades (1975-95), going undercover during the premiership of Joh Bjelke-Petersen and Terry Lewis' time as police commissioner: the most notoriously corrupt period in Queensland's history. He is now married with two children and remains a martial arts enthusiast. He is passionate about supporting first responders dealing with PTSD, which stems from his personal experience with the condition. With his books, he strives to encourage a more open and authentic conversation around mental health and the reality of police work. Let's Go!

On the eastern edge of the city of Ipswich in Queensland, lies a small suburb named Goodna. About 20 kilometres from the Brisbane central business district, Goodna is peppered with Jacaranda, Hoop Pine, and Mango trees, and boasts numerous parks which are frequented by the public. It was the 26th of September - a spring day - at 1:42pm when two police were stopped in their tracks. They had been searching the bushland on Redbank Plains Road after a young girl, 12-year-old Leanne Holland, had been reported missing by her family a few days before. The officers spotted a partly unclothed, shoeless body. One that would come to be identified as the blonde-haired, round-faced, Leanne. What had happened to her? And who was responsible? Police already had a suspect. One man. But, as we'd come to find out, there were a handful of problems. Katie & Vossy discuss all of the morning's key issues.
We discuss the cops who can't stop leaking sensitive information to abusers, Victoria's return to lockdown and the government ministers who keep forgetting that Grandma exists. Porter stuff Christian Porter has dropped his case against the ABC. …a week after calling on the ABC to not drag out the case, because they're spending taxpayer money. Fairfax papers published a weird puff piece on Porter's new relationship. Abusive leaks In 2013, a QLD Police sergeant Neil Punchard deliberately leaked information about a domestic violence victim to her abuser. In a completely unrelated note, QLD police is “grappling” with a rise in officers named in domestic abuse orders. This week, it came out that NSW police gave the entire image of a domestic violence victim's phone to her abuser. Celebrite is an Israeli hardware/software package used by law enforcement. The CEO of Signal posted a blog post dissecting how Cellebrite works. It's not just cops! The NDIS leaked information about a participant to their family, despite warnings they were at danger of domestic violence. Lockdown! Victoria has been in lockdown for two weeks. The Victorian government has propped up businesses with $250m in grants. The Federal government has finally agreed to give some measly grants to individual people, in the form of a wizard's riddle. Businesses have refused to pay back Jobkeeper overpayments (and the government isn't asking for it back). …while they claw back money from individuals. Aged care Richard Colbeck is minister for aged care, apparently. He just refuses to admit he's responsible. Of the 910 people who have died of Covid in Australia, 655 were in Victorian aged care homes. The Royal Commission found that the Government did not have a plan for the pandemic. During the outbreak in 2020, the government provided additional funding for aged care workers to not work at multiple sites. They dropped this funding as soon as possible. The National cabinet has agreed that Covid Vaccines are not mandatory for aged care workers. We have a Registry of who's been immunised in Australia! There are anti-vaxxers in the Government. A great thread about the roll-out of the HPV Vaccine. Health Minister Greg Hunt posted anti-mask propaganda. Shoutouts Sign the petition to stop the planned cable-car up Mt Wellington in Hobart.
Katie & Vossy discuss all of the morning's key issues.
Ian is General President & CEO, Queensland Police Union, and is sick of seeing police officers lock up offenders for them to make bail or get released. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today we are joined by Detective Sergeant Peter Lunney : lunney.peterj@police.qld.gov.au from Brisbane City Child Protection Investigation Unit at Queensland Police to talk about Project CASM which is the Community Against Substance Misuse. A couple of years ago, Brisbane City Child Protection Investigation Unit saw a problem in the local community of children/juveniles stealing cans of deodorant for sniffing. Retailers were being hit with up to 30+ cans of Deodorant stolen without staff realising what has occurred till the end of day's trade. It wasn't uncommon that some premises were targeted multiple times throughout a day. The offenders are inhaling the substance from the can. QLD Police found that this had the effect of: 1: Direct increase in crime (Stealing/other property offences). 2: Child Protection Issue of health and safety of a child Today we talk about Project CASM and discuss some of the learnings. Hi everyone! Thanks again for tuning in to Season 3 Episode 7! The boys are back! We've got our usual panel on this one as both Ethan and Andy join me for this show. I share my own experience with encountering the Qld Police service while maskless. We analyse how social media is affecting the MSM with their news posts being hammered with truth comments and comments countering their narrative while the main 'reaction' to their posts seems to be trending towards the HAHA laughing face. Is it because the public can see the emperor is wearing no clothes? Bill Gates is buying up huge swathes of American farmland even though his buddies in the World Economic Forum are touting we'll 'Own nothing and be happy about it'. The end of Private Property is a part of the technocratic future. Will we be controlled through food? Ethan talks us through his latest piece on how Queensland Rail is now boasting about new surveillance capabilities. They're of course selling it to us on safety and security. But is there more to it than that? AH...YEAH! Plus more... Remember the Bonus Content shows are available now to all Patreon supporters for just $5 a month! In this episode James, Richard and Matt kick off with Muskwatch (0:50), where they are happy to learn that Model 3 production did meet the (revised?) goals, and wonder if Tesla can keep this cadence up, especially since chief vehicle engineer Doug Field left the company last week.Matt tells us all about his disappointingly easy test drive of the new Subaru Forester (6:15), and is super excited about the Suzuki Jimny coming to Australia (10:15).Richard drove the new-generation Santa Fe (16:05), Porsche has set an astounding Nurburgring record (19:40), and the QLD Police force has announced the Kia Stinger as their next pursuit car (24:50). In NSW, however, police are reportedly opening unlocked cars, searching through them for valuables and then issuing fines to the owners for forgetfulness. Seriously (28:05).Make sure you listen to the end of the episode for an extra special giveaway! (Spoiler, it's a Lamborghini. And it's definitely not a model...)James Cleary, Richard Berry and Matt Campbell tear down, pressure test and rebuild the issues of the automotive week. You can get in touch with us on Facebook, Twitter (#CGPodcast)and Instagram, or share your thoughts on what cars are the same as what fruit by emailing comments@carsguide.com.au.You can subscribe to the CarsGuide podcast on iTunes, find us on TuneIn, Stitcher, Spotify, Pocket Casts, Whooshkaa, and, naturally, the CarsGuide website.
This week on the podcast we reach into the vault to present an interview with James Kliemt, former Senior Digital Media Officer for Queensland Police, and discuss the role of social media plays in crisis management. After launching the Queensland Police Services Facebook page without a policy or plan in place, Queensland Police Service is now close to one million likes (population of QLD is 4.5 million). Though a risky move, especially as a government body, it has paid off and during the Brisbane floods of 2011, it was a valuable asset to assuring the safety of many Australians. If you're interested in reading further on the topic of government social media here's a piece touching on similar topics: The Importance of Social Media for Government. We hope you enjoy this episode, originally released April of 2016. Find contentgroup on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Read more about best industry practices from our blog and weekly newsletter.

This week's episode is with ABC Radio's Sydney breakfast host Robbie Buck. He rates higher than all of my FM colleagues, has a pedigree from JJJ that is beyond par, and was once at the centre of a Bjelke-Petersen era QLD Police raid.
