In this week's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast we get to speak with Steve Moharic (@k9_steve). Steve is a former Australian Special Forces Commando, turned dog trainer and hybrid Athlete. During his early years his sporting background was in running and swimming, before he made the switch to Triathlon. After burning out in his early 20's, he fell deep into Melbourne's criminal underworld. That was followed by joining the military in 2009. He was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, and spent over two years as part of Australia's most elite force, the Tactical Assault Group. Later in 2016 he qualified as a Special Ops attack dog handler. We go over all this in our conversation, and lots more, as well as his experience in HYROX where he won his age group at his debut event in Melbourne, at a bodyweight of 105kg, which qualified him for the upcoming Nice World Championship. I was connected with Steve through Elite HYROX athlete Jon Wynn who was in the special forces at the same time as Steve. Steves story is really interesting - he's a great guy, a great speaker, a great athlete – I loved chatting with him and I think you'll really enjoy it.
Let's talk about the scent dogs that were used to search for missing 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers. I'll be sharing what K9 handler Julia Valenti shared in an hour-long show she did yesterday. Ron and his dog were later assigned to a Special Forces team performing combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The team was transported and protected by superbly skilled and battle-hardened Army helicopter crews. Ron was impressed by the skill and coolness of these pilots, and he had no idea that he would later join that elite group of aviators and lead other helicopter pilots into battle.

Episode 20 is the finale for this inaugural season of Hope Between The Lines. Dan Guarrero is living an amazing life. I am amazed at the powerful way God set Dan free from a life of addiction. He now serves as a volunteer chaplain for San Diego Fire Rescue, and is one of the handlers for their Canine Response Team. In addition to that, he also serves as a Pastor. His story began in California decades ago, then took him to the great state of Minnesota, and then took him back California. As you listen to our conversation, I know you will be encouraged by his passionate humility. The way he shares his journey is simply inspirational. His wife Carrie hosts a podcast called Discovering W.I.S.E. (Women in Search of Excellence). Feel free to share this link with your friends and help them discover more about her www.discoveringwise.com.
