Hey FitMama! I am here for you today with some real talk on habits and behaviors in our regular routine and looking at: What are they and how do they affect us (Shopping, drinking, gambling, coffee, procrastinating etc) Are they giving or taking from us? (Which one more?) Do they serve us? Maybe they did in the past but they no longer do. Take stock. When it comes to how we spend our time “working,” or “escaping,” or “self-care,” or “mom time,” or “wife time,” what are we doing that feels like we do it and we can't stop? It lifts us in some way but really goes against our goals? Online shopping? Scrolling? Quick fixes? Drama? Stress? Drinking or drugs when you know it's not healthy? It's giving us the dopamine hit we desire. Or lighting up that part of the brain. We try to stop and it feels hard or we give up and erode our self-trust. Is there a habit that is getting in your way? Take a life/time audit and track what you do all day to notice any patterns of addictive behaviors (don't hide from the subconscious ones that we do without thinking). Notice (time audit) Stop Go for 30-100 days Feel. Do the work. Recovery awareness of self and CBT Reintroduce if desired and feels safe Record and remember Engage in life. Notice. Want to escape from your life? Noticing is both first and last. Are you living a life you want to escape from? This is something to be aware of. Otherwise these addictive behaviors can pop up out of the blue or have been there for years or even decades. No judgment! I hope this episode opens up some new perspective for you. Please send me a note! jen@fitmamaforever.com and Come find me on Instagram! Episode brought to you by Oura Ring. And grab a copy of my book for the pregnant woman or mom in your life!

Ford is trialling connected vehicle technology using geofencing – a virtual geographical boundary – that could one day do away with the need for speed limit signs completely. As well as potentially making streets safer for other road users and pedestrians, Ford's Geofencing Speed Limit Control system could help drivers avoid inadvertently incurring speeding fines and improve roadside appearances. Many cities and towns limit speeds around schools, hospitals and shopping areas. Seeing the signs, however, can depend on how visible they are, whether they are concealed by branches, or maybe surrounded by a cluster of other signs. “Connected vehicle technology has the proven potential to help make everyday driving easier and safer to benefit everyone, not just the person behind the wheel,” said Michael Huynh, manager, City Engagement Germany, Ford of Europe. “Geofencing can ensure speeds are reduced where – and even when – necessary to help improve safety and create a more pleasant environment.” Helping Keep Speed Down with Ford's Geofencing Tech In Europe, up to 29 per cent of road fatalities are pedestrians and cyclists, depending on the country. Setting up 30 km/h zones is considered one of the key measures to reduce the risk to pedestrians in urban areas, as drivers have more time to react and the impact speed is lower. Driver assistance technologies such as Ford's Intelligent Speed Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go already help ensure drivers do not exceed speed limits. Ford's Geofencing Speed Limit Control system is potentially more flexible and effective than on-board systems, and could in future be applied to Ford commercial and passenger vehicles. Researchers are using two Ford Pro vehicles to analyse the impact of speed limiting in terms of improving traffic flow and reducing the risk of accidents. Testing with the all-electric Ford E-Transit vans extends to all 30km/h zones in the centre of Cologne, in Germany, as well as in selected 50 km/h and 30 km/h zones elsewhere in the city. The 12-month trial builds on other recent Ford research projects that endeavour to help improve road safety, including connected traffic light tech that could automatically go green to offer clearer routes for ambulances, fire engines and police vehicles, and the use of specific speakers inside the vehicle to alert drivers to the direction from which people and objects are approaching. Ford's Local Hazard Information, introduced on Ford Puma in 2020, is also helping to make roads safer. The connected technology, now on 500,000 Ford vehicles in Europe, alerted drivers to more than 35,000 broken down vehicles, both Ford and non-Ford, and warned drivers of more than 100,000 hazards ahead per month in Europe in 2021. How it Works The trial is the result of a collaboration between the Ford City Engagement team, city officials in Cologne and Aachen, and Ford software engineers in Palo Alto, in the US. Together with colleagues in Aachen, the Palo Alto engineers developed technology that connects the vehicle to the geofencing system for GPS tracking and data exchange. The driver receives the information via the dashboard display cluster, with the new speed limit flashing below the current speed. The vehicle automatically reduces speed in line with the geofenced zone. The driver can override the system and deactivate the speed limit control at any time. In the future, the Geofencing Speed Limit Control system could enable drivers to set their own geofencing zones at speeds as low as 20 km/h, including at depots and private facilities. Speed limits could also be set dynamically, to take into account local hazards, temporary road works and the time of day. The German Traffic Code has over 1,000 types of road signs. In the UK, it is estimated that the number of road signs has doubled in the last two decades, to around 4.6 million in total, with the Department for Transport requesting that local councils remove unnecessary and unsightly s...

It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. HYUNDAI IONIQ ELECTRIC WITH UPGRADED 38.3-KWH BATTERY "The new Hyundai IONIQ family is finally unveiled with updated hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric versions. Let’s see some highlights about the one that matters, the electric. I really like the new Hyundai IONIQ Electric and I think that more range with a lower charging rate at DC fast chargers is a good trade-off, especially considering that the on-board charger was upgraded. Higher range gives us more freedom to avoid expensive and overcrowded DC fast chargers and charge at home – where charging is more convenient and a lot cheaper." says Pedro at PushEVs. "The new IONIQ Electric’s battery has been upgraded from 28 kWh to 38.3 kWh, meaning drivers can go even further between charges. It boasts 36% additional energy storage capacity, offering a total of 294 kms of range (internal target under WLTP regulations). Its e-motor delivers a maximum power of 136 PS and 295 Nm of torque and is fitted standard with a 7.2-kW on-board charger – an upgrade from current 6.6-kW – for Type 2 AC charging. Using a 100-kW fast-charging station, the battery can reach 80% charge in as little as 54 minutes. As well as the new convenience features, the new IONIQ’s reimagined interior incorporates new design factors to enhance its sophisticated image. In addition to standard black seat trims, customers have the option of four leather seat colours: Black, Gray two-tone, Red Umber (exclusive for hybrid and plug-in) and Electric Shadow (exclusive to electric version). Meanwhile, the dashboard garnish arrives in Dark Chrome Accent." "The new IONIQ’s leading safety package includes Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection with new Cyclist Detection ability and Driver Attention Warning. Lane Keeping Assist and High Beam Assist also come standard. Optionally available as well are Lane Following Assist which keeps the car in the middle of a lane so drivers can navigate safely even in heavy traffic during rush hour, and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning that uses the front camera and information from the navigation system to identify road speed signs and displays the speed limit and no-passing signs in real time. Using the radar sensor to detect the distance from the car in front, Smart Cruise Control with Stop&Go and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert maintains a preset distance to automatically stop and depart again according to traffic conditions. Additional options include Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning. Taking a cue from its similarly innovative Kona Electric sibling, as a maximum use of regenerative braking technology, the new IONIQ Electric adopts 1-pedal driving capability, which allows drivers to stop the car by simply holding onto the left paddle shift lever with often no need to engage the braking pedal. Working thus via Smart Regenerative Braking, the level of energy recuperation is automatically adjusted depending on the road incline and traffic situation in front when coasting. The new IONIQ Electric also features Eco+, which supplements the standard Eco, Comfort and Sport driving modes. By selecting the Eco+ mode, drivers reduce their energy consumption and the car’s remaining energy can be extended during unforeseeable emergency situations." https://pushevs.com/2019/05/02/new-hyundai-ioniq-family/ TESLA IS NOT ALLOWING RANGE UPGRADE ON NEW 150 KM MODEL 3 IN CANADA "Tesla launched a new, cheaper Model 3 with 150km range in Canada to get access to the new $5,000 federal incentive, but we’re now learning that the company is not offering any range upgrade on that new version of the Model 3 — effectively making the vehicle unsellable." says Fred at Electrek. “To be eligible for incentives, a vehicle must have a base-model manufacturer’s suggested retail price of less than $45,000 for passenger vehicles with six or fewer seats, and less than $55,000 for vehicles with seven or more seats. For eligible vehicles with six or fewer seats, higher priced versions (trims) are eligible as long as the final manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $55,000 or less.” "It disqualified Tesla’s vehicles from being eligible to the incentive because the base Model 3, which is only available as an “off-the-menu item”, starts at $47,000. In response earlier this week, Tesla has lowered the price of the vehicle to $44,999 in Canada, but it also software-locked the vehicle to only 150 km (93 miles) of range. Tesla has done that in the past, but the automaker offered to unlock the range as an option for a cost similar to the original cost before the range decrease. Buyers in Canada reached out to us saying that Tesla salespeople were saying that they were not aware of any such upgrade in this case. We contacted a Tesla spokesperson about the situation and the automaker confirmed that they are not offering any range upgrade through a software update for the base version at $45,000." https://electrek.co/2019/05/02/tesla-model-3-range-upgrade-canada/ TESLA SEEKS CAPITAL RAISE OF OVER $2 BILLION "Tesla Inc will raise up to $2.3 billion in new capital, renouncing what Elon Musk called a “Spartan diet” and easing Wall Street concerns about the money-losing company’s ability to overcome a drop in sales and build new product lines." reports Reuters: "Before Tesla’s announcement on Thursday, however, analysts speculating about a capital raise had cautioned that the company had missed optimal timing - last year’s third quarter, when the company posted a profit. Tesla has reported four profitable quarters since it went public in June 2010." "Tesla needs some $2 billion of additional capital to finance its expansions after the huge $700 million in losses in the first quarter. Funds will be raised in two ways: issues of new shares - up to $650 million (+15% option for underwriters) issues of new debt - up to $1,350 million (+ 15% option for underwriters) Total up to $2 billion ($2.3 billion including 15% option for underwriters)" "Tesla has 2.2 billion of cash and equivalent, which is great but not enough to continue rapid expansion. Besides the new Gigafactory 3 in China, the company needs to launch the Model Y and more products after that. Capital expenditures plan is: 2019: $2-2.5 billion 2020: $2.5-3 billion 2021: $2.5-3 billion" THE E-GOLF. ZERO EMISSION AND NOW 0% PCP "Volkswagen’s e-Golf is now available, for a limited period only, with 0% PCP Finance, making this car more affordable and more accessible than ever before. Plus, customers wishing to move into the new Volkswagen ID. will be able to do so easily, thanks to a special new 2-year PCP solution." reports The Avondhu: "The e-Golf starts from €35,995 after Government incentives and now with 0% PCP starts from as little as €349 per month. The e-Golf Executive Edition offers the ‘ultimate e-Golf’ and costs from €39,495 or with 0% PCP from as little as €379 per month." https://avondhupress.ie/the-e-golf-zero-emission-and-now-0-pcp/ NISSAN BUMPS UP LEAF BASE PRICE IN UK "Despite competing in a tough new car market, Nissan thinks it deserves to give its still-fresh Leaf a price hike in the UK. A Nissan official told Autocar this week the price change is due to, "market demands and other influences, such as inflation and cost base." Considering the company's Sunderland plant supplies the Leaf to the UK and surrounding countries, those "other influences" sound like they could be related to uncertainty of Britain's exit from the European Union – and uncertainty as to how long the " according to Za at InsideEVs.com: "The Leaf's base price jumps to £27,995, up £1,805, even after the government subsidy of £3,500. That's in a class that includes the likes of the Volkswagen e-Golf and Hyundai Ioniq Electric, and it's for the base model rated at 168 miles of range in the UK. However, the Leaf e+ (Leaf Plus in the U.S.) is now in full production for the UK and boasts much more standard equipment and 239 miles of range, which is more competitive with the likes of the Kia e-Niro." WILLIAMS ADVANCED ENGINEERING TO DESIGN AND SUPPLY BESPOKE BATTERIES FOR EXTREME E Extreme E announced Wednesday a new partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering, to supply batteries for the newly-launched electric SUV off-road racing series – set to commence on its first voyage in January 2021. The batteries will be specially-designed and developed by Williams, plugging into the expertise and experience of the same minds who assembled the batteries and cells for the first four seasons of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Made to withstand extreme environments, conditions and terrains, the batteries will be compatible with Formula E-specification motors and produce a maximum power output of 470 kW (equivalent to approx. 630 bhp). Williams will put batteries into production, ready to provide teams with identical 54 kWh battery packs – to be used in the first two seasons of Extreme E. I’m a husband, and father, raising two kids in San Francisco, California, AND I also work an intense job, leading software product teams. My life is go go go seven days a week. It seems like everyone around me is also going at full speed. But then about a year ago, my mother died. It’s surfaced a lot of other emotions and problems that I haven’t dealt with while being so busy and it’s caused me to reconsider how I want to live. I’m Jay Badenhope, and this is Go Go Stop Go, a show where I’ll talk with people to explore the big, difficult issues and major turning points in our lives. Grief. Loss. Emotions. Career. Health. “You need to separate yourself from the competition,” stresses Kent Couch. It’s something that he first did with a series of record-setting cluster balloon flights, beginning in 2006. However, the story about his Stop & Go store in Bend, OR, is really about what they have brought home from learning at NACS Shows and through NACS membership. Currently, it’s the wildly popular growler program, with more than 50 taps in the gas station. His store was the first to put in a growler station in the Northwest a few years ago. (Kent said that he got the idea from a NACS Daily article, and he says that it may have kick-started the entire growler craze in the Northwest.) Co-hosts Jeff Lenard, NACS Vice President of Strategic Industry Initiatives; and Carolyn Schnare, NACS Director of Strategic Industry Initiatives talk to Kent about how he finds ideas to grow his one-store business. (Hint: The NACS Show plays a big role.)

Jimmy Herring circa 1994In the spring of 1994 the Grateful Dead were still touring, I got married and began my graduate studies at DePaul University. Working full-time in the printing and publications department of my alma mater and going to school full time left me with little time for live music or much of a social life. But in the summer of 1994, all I had to do was work full time... and take some of my precious earned vacation time to see some music. After 25 years of actively seeking out live musical experiences, the summer of 1994 stands out as a highlight. In particular, the ten day period of July 14 - 24, 1994 stands out as one of the most ambitious musical experiences of my life.Thursday 7/14/94 - work 9 - 5, Widespread Panic, The Vic (Aquarium Rescue Unit opened)Friday 7/15/94 - work 9 - 5Saturday 7/16/94 drive 5.5 hours to Ames, IA - Widespread Panic, People's Bar and GrillSunday 7/17/94 - drive back to ChicagoMonday 7/18/94 - work 9 - 5, 3 hour drive to the Riverbend Campground outside of Noblesville, IN.Tuesday 7/19/94 - Grateful Dead, Deer Creek AmpitheatreWednesday 7/20/94 - Grateful Dead, Deer Creek AmpitheatreThursday 7/21/94 - Grateful Dead, Deer Creek AmpitheatreFriday 7/22/94 - drive back to Chicago, celebrate birthday at Martyrs'Saturday 7/23/94 - Grateful Dead, Soldier Field, ChicagoSunday 7/24/94 - Grateful Dead, Soldier Field, Chicago5 Dead shows, 2 Panic shows and 3 full days of work in 11 days. But you are here to hear about Widespread Panic. That July 14th show at the Vic was originally scheduled for a larger venue, the newly opened Skyline Stage on Navy pier. But Peter Frampton used his own PA a couple of weeks earlier which led to the venue not allowing Widespread to use their PA.... I'll add that this change in venue happened after the band and crew had arrived in the early morning of July 14 to set the stage.Several dozen people were turned away at the door of the Vic because of overcrowding and the air conditioning failed before the band even hit the stage. The Aquarium Rescue Unit (without Col. Bruce but with Kofi Burbridge on keys and flute and Paul Henson on vocals) opened for Panic. I wonder if Jimmy Herring ever had a sense of deja vu when sharing the stage with Widespread Panic? Or perhaps being in the Aquarium Rescue Unit was like LIVING in deja vu!I featured the final two songs and the encore of Panic's one set show back in PaniCast #4....PaniCast #4 - Sweating to July 14, 1994 The Vic Theatre, Chicago. This week I bring you the opening of the first set up through the drum break in Papa's Home.I've also added a couple of great radio studio performances from 1993 and some silly interviews...July 14, 1994The Vic TheatreChicago, IL(set one opener)Heroes >Weight of the World,PilgrimsPorch SongMay 3, 1993KTCZ 97.1 StudiosMinneapolis, MNInterviewWonderingJuly 14, 1994 continuesLittle Kin,It Ain't No Use >Travelin' LightMay 10, 1993WDET 101.9 FMDetroit, MIInterviewHenry Parsons DiedJuly 14, 1994 continuesJunior,Stop-Go >Papa's HomeJuly 14, 1994 Aquarium Rescue Unit (opening for Widespread Panic)Vic TheatreChicago, ILFixin' to Die(calling out to 'Garrie' during the song... same Garrie?)Jimmy Herring on guitarOteil Burbridge on bass/vocalsApartment Q258 on drumsKofi Burbridge on keys/flutePaul Henson on vocalsLISTENER'S GUIDE:7/14/94Listen how Weight of the World starts with Dave melodically driving the song forward until Mikey takes control and leads into the third verse. This allows DAS to switch to a percussive slap bass technique, nearly teasing 'We Want the Funk....' at one point. The Pilgrims intro is so mellow, almost like they backing into the song. Feeling confident and conversational in the way they are playing.... - and so we listen, and if it's real good, and we shake. And then Houser takes a solo and the heat is on!Check out the jam that begins about 5 and a half minutes into Ain't No Use.... soaring, triumphant, lovely. And again around the 5 and a half minute mark in Papa's Home a graceful and confident jam.

PanicStream user Col. Braddock asked for a request that I will not be playing, at least not this week. It occurred to me that his suggestion would make much better fodder for a future themed cast.... but there were some songs from the same show featuring the same guest that would be worth a listen. As I revisited the famous Jorma performance from 2000 I also ran across a relatively recent download of Vic Chesnutt and became inspired. Guests and covers of songs by friends. So away I went, finding a killer FM broadcast that I was not acquainted with featuring some priceless interview tom-foolery by the band. Delving into shows from 1994 I was reminded of one of my favorite Chilly Water performances featuring a 15 year old Derek Trucks on guitar.A very pleasant surprise awaited me when the Everyday Companion pointed me to a benefit show featuring Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Randall Bramblett and Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Synyrd. The interplay between Houser and Bramblett during Porch Song is nothing short of brilliant.Anyhow, I am rambling - ENJOY - this is one of those 'casts that features something for everybody so turn it up loud. And remember; "I'm John Herman, and I play keyboards."Vic ChesnuttFebruary 16, 1997Muffathalle, Munich, GermanyBlight(authored by David Schools/Michael Houser/Todd Nance/Vic Chesnutt in a little band named brute.)April 8, 1995102.7 WNEW New York, NYInterview ("I'm John Herman")Can't Get High (Bloodkin cover)Ain't Life GrandLet's Get Down to Business (Vic Chesnutt cover)July 4, 2000WarfieldSan Francisco, CAwith Jorma KoukonenBowlegged WomanGenesisOctober 11, 1998Nashville ArenaNashville, TNPorch Song > (with Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Randall Bramblett)Drums(with Artimus Pyle from Lynyrd Synyrd and Jeff Reilly from Randall Bramblett Band)July 21, 1994Stop Go >Entering a Blackhole Backwards >Chilly Water** 15 year old Derek Trucks on Guitar(with 'Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin' jam)DOWNLOAD the cast here (right click to save to hard drive):Everyday Companion Podcast #57Click here to subscribe through iTunes.
Podcast #51 is the first of our second year doing this - and when I say 'our' I mean 'my.'This week features selections from the February 27, 1992 show at the Masquerade in Atlanta. This show has no keyboardist and is an interesting view of the band in transition; a year earlier T. Lavitz had just joined and in a matter of days JoJo would join the band. I've heard some refer to this period as the 'five headed monster.'This show is also notable because it features some new tunes including Diner (2nd time played, featuring JB's original lyrics about building a rocket to the moon), Better Off (2nd time played), Hatfield (3rd time played), and Wondering (2nd time played). It also features the return of L.a. and Walk On to the repertoire.Check out this link for a torrent of Feb 27, 1992:The Masquerade ShowI may end up missing a week or two in June / July so take that opportunity to check out the following links from last year's Red Rock's special broadcasts:May 31, 1996September 14, 1991June 25, 2000 part 1June 25, 2000 part 2June 24, 2001June 26, 1997Here's how it goes down this week!Intro musicWalkin' Jam, Red Rocks, May 31, 1996February 27, 1992Atlanta, GAL.a.DinerFishwaterThe Take Out >Porch SongBetter Off >Stop GoNovember 21, 2000Louisville, KYSend Your MindRed Beans CookingLast DanceWe would love to hear from you, so please click 'Comment' below and let us know what you think or if there is something you' like to hear.DOWNLOAD the cast here (right click to save to hard drive):Everyday Companion Podcast #51Click here to subscribe through iTunes.
This week marks the tenth anniversary of the end of the infamous Spring Tour 1997. I had the good fortune of seeing six of these shows and look back on this time in my life with fondness and more than a little nostalgia. Along with classic shows at the Vic and Aragon in Chicago, I braved more than a little sleepiness to attend the end of the tour stop in St. Paul, MN. This taught me an important lesson; if there is nothing stopping you but a lack of sleep, GO!Alot of ground has been covered from this time period (April - May 1997) in our podcasts this past year so I tried to steer away from the more obvious highlights from some of the classic shows - but I couldn't resist the Jingo Jam from 4/27/97! Sections of music like the Sleepy Monkey, Tie Your Shoes combo from 5/8/97, the Stop Go > Wondering from 4/27/97, B of D > Goin Out West from 5/10/97 and many others should be sought out and listened to. Do yourself a favor and find any show from April and May 1997 and I dare you to find a dog in the bunch. The band was in fine form and each and every one is played with effortless high energy. Here's how it goes down this week:April 27, 1997Burlington, VTJingo Jam >Space WranglerMay 3, 1997Pelham, ALJust Kissed My Baby (with Night People rap)May 7, 1997Louisville, KYBowlegged WomanWalk OnMay 9, 1997Chicago, ILLittle KinAin't No UseMay 8, 1997Chicago, ILShe Caught the KatyWe would love to hear from you, so please click 'Comment' below and let us know what you think or if there is something you' like to hear.DOWNLOAD the cast here (right click to save to hard drive):Everyday Companion Podcast #48Click here to subscribe through iTunes.

photo by Curtis George, from Houston, 3/23/07This week we feature some brand new material from Spring tour and then some ten year old material from San Francisco.Since everyone has great access to recent material through LiveWidespreadPanic.com as well as sites like PanicStream.com and DigitalPanic.org I try to steer away from featuring too much new stuff - Being able to pick up a soundboard of the show within days of it happening is to me an offer none of you should refuse....SO, make sure to pick up some of tasty soundboards of the recent action at LiveWidespreadPanic.com.I am very excited to see the band bringing out some new originals this spring, and among them I find Shoes On Tight to be my favorite. I also enjoyed listening to the Guilded Splinters (and the jam that followed) from Kansas City. Finally, this past week marked the tenth anniversary of some epic Panic, including a two night run at the Warfield in San Francisco, so I am featuring some tracks from one of those shows. So here's the selection this week:March 25, 2007Nokia TheatreGrand Prairie, TXShoes on TightMarch 27, 2007Uptown TheaterKansas City, KS(I Walk on) Guilded SplintersMarch 29, 1997Warfield TheaterSan Francisco, CAGimmeRadio ChildStop-Go >ConradGalleonHope in a Hopeless World >Cream Puff WarMake sure to click COMMENT below to let us know what you think -DOWNLOAD the cast here (right click to save to hard drive):Everyday Companion Podcast #44Click here to subscribe through iTunes.

July 22 is my birthday and this year I will have the treat of attending a Widespread Panic concert at Winter Park, CO on my birthday! I am hoping for good weather and safe travels. This episode is an hour long special featuring various moments from shows I attended over the years. These aren't necessarily the 'best version ever' or anything - each was selected because I have a fond memory associated with each show. We'll kick everything off with the song that really 'grabbed my legs' and began my fascination and musical relationship with Widespread Panic.Ted circa 1971July 22, 1992 Chicago, ILStop-GoLisa and I attended this show at Mississippi Nights in St Louis. We had sold our tickets for what would end up being the final Grateful Dead show which occurred on the same evening in Chicago. After the chaos of Deer Creek and the hassle of St Louis, our Grateful Dead touring days were already over. Fortunately a new adventure in our lives was under way even if we weren't aware of it yet. This Ain't No Use is pretty crazy and I remember being on the floor three people back from Dave just overwhelmed by the intensity of this song.July 9, 1995 St. Louis, MOAin't No UseOn a whim Lisa, Maureen and I drove in the hot and humid midwestern heat for what seemed like 10,000 miles from Chicago to Ames, Iowa to see the band in a little bar. We woke up early, drove all day and saw a show that night. This was a very memorable trip including the discovery that the oil cap for the car's engine had been left off for about 200 miles. Where do you find an oil cap in the middle of a corn field? Plus the venue was serving giant 36 oz beers on special for $2. We did NOT wake up early the next morning.July 16, 1994 Ames, IAEarlyI drove up to Minneapolis with Dennis Dahl to see this final show of the spring tour. We slept on the floor of his friend's home office and couldn't find anything to eat anywhere near the venue - I think we had seafood quesadillas at an upscale brew pub or something. In any case, every time I here this song it brings back the emotions I experienced on spring tour 1997 - sweet, strong, tight, welcoming and powerful.May 10, 1997 Minneapolis, MNGenesisIn one 36 hour stretch I bought a plane ticket to Atlanta, won tickets to the show in a chat room interview with Dave Schools, heard the first Pilgrims on tape at Brian Sofer's house, missed the CNN interview I had been invited to, went to the show, sold $100 worth of tape covers in the parking lot, met the manager of the Lakewood Amphitheater who set me up with my own box (the Delta box) and bought my first round of drinks, got rip snorting drunk, went backstage, broke down Sofer's front door, flew back to Chicago and then drove to Alpine Valley, WI for the Lollapooza festival. The Last Straw indeed.July 26, 1997 AtlantaLast StrawThis show was a miracle all the way around. We're in downtown Detroit before they built the new stadium. Dennis, Val, Lisa and I show up hungry and several hours early for the show. Dennis and Val are vegetarians and there isn't a food establishment within, what seems like, miles. But wait - what is that tiny hut in the middle of that parking lot across the street from the venue? It looks like the parking attendant's booth.... It is a middle eastern restaurant that specializes in vegetarian food! That sums up this amazing trip to Detroit - around each turn there were surprises but through it all we were Feelin' Alright!May 1, 1997 DetroitFeelin' Alright Lisa and Ted circa 1994Thanks again to EVERYONE out there who have supported and helped us over the years with the project and on our journey to and from Panic shows. We really could not have done this labor of love without you. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.Get the cast here:Everyday Companion Podcast #11Click here to subscribe through the iTunes Podcast Directory.
Listen to this podcast with your sweety - it's chock full of Panic-y goodness! What a treat this podcast was to produce!Remember to TURN IT UP!!John Bell four track recording from 1998(?)Climb to SafetyMay 15, 1993 Boston, MAPilgrims (full band acoustic)April 27, 1997 Burlington, VTStop Go > WonderingJohn Bell four trackLittle LillyThe interviewing on the 5/15/93 radio performance is laughably hideous but the performances are actually quite good so I'll bring more of that performance in future podcasts and spare everyone the embarrassment of the words between the music. The Stop Go > Wondering includes a brilliant improv by JB - one of my all time favorite Panic moments.Make sure to pay attention to the transition between the two songs! This is a long distance dedication to Lauren and Ben in NYC.I also really love the four track recordings - listen closely to JB harmonizing with himself and adding all sorts of vocal embellishments during both songs... No real theme this week - I just pulled together some kick ass jams from early '97.I recently exchanged emails with Ned Stein, which reminded me of the Rochester 97 show.Which reminded me of the Indy show for some reason....So I then decided to stay in spring 97 mode andlistened to Michael Wilker's remaster of the April 8, 1997 Las Cruces show. And then I heard from Fred Adams via email this week -and I remembered that Houser's birthday was the 6th.Happy birthday Mikey!May 2, 1997 IndianapolisStop -Go >Better Off >Stop-GoHolden Oversoul >Love TractorApril 8, 1997 Las Cuces, NMDear Mr. FantasyCity of Dreams >Hope in a Hopeless WorldApril 29, 1997 Rochester, NYJam >Pilgrims >No Sugar Tonight/New Mother NatureThe Take Out >Porch SongMake sure to click COMMENT below to let us know what you think -DOWNLOAD the cast here:Everyday Companion Podcast #34Click here to subscribe through iTunes.PRESS PLAY TO LISTEN NOW!
