On episode 157 of the Director Watch Podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter are joined by founder and podcast host at InSession Film JD Duran and Editor-In-Chief of InSession Film Dave Giannini discuss the next film in their Christopher Nolan series, The Dark Knight (2008). Welcome back to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, the boys attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. In what might be the single most important film of the 21st century for blockbuster filmmaking, The Dark Knight turned Christopher Nolan into the legend, iconic filmmaker he is today, creating a comic book, action packed crime thriller that elevated the entire genre, creating a film that audiences would obsess over for decades to come; the definitive comic book movie. With an all-time performance from the late Heath Ledger, Nolan upped the stakes of this second Batman film to be more about the fight to save soul of Gotham City, and gain hope in the future beyond the capes and clowns, and created a epic masterpiece. Ryan, Jay, JD, and Dave break down their thoughts on the film, the action set pieces, the battles for Gotham with our flawed heroes, Ledger's iconic Joker, the special effects work on Two-Face, the legacy of this film and why it's (more or less) aged so well. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. You can also listen on the AW YouTube page. This podcast runs 2h53m. The guys will be back next week to continue their series on the films of Christopher Nolan with a review of his next film, Inception. You can rent it via iTunes and Amazon Prime rental in preparation for the next episode of Director Watch. Till then, let's get into it. Corrado De Rosa"Totò Schillaci. Non ero previsto"66thand2ndwww.66thand2nd.com«Succede tutto insieme. De Napoli lancia. Giannini tocca di tacco. Vialli accarezza.

Gala Giannini is an ER doctor, ultra racer, and now event organizer based in northern Italy. She's raced Italy Divide, Gran Guanche, Silk Road, Atlas, and Badlands. At her first ultra, there were maybe four women on the start line. At Atlas this year, the change was undeniable. In this episode of Detours, we talk about the growing movement of more women on start lines, how winning a gravel bike by drawing a 180-kilometer reindeer on Strava led to her first ultra two months later, the parallels between night shifts in the ER and racing through the night, and the event she's building in the Italian Alps – named after a mythological goat with uneven legs. On episode 145 of the Director Watch Podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter are joined by Editor-In-Chief of InSession Film Dave Giannini to discuss the latest film in their Powell and Pressburger series, Black Narcissus (1947). Welcome back to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, the boys attempt to break down, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. In taking a darker turn with their latest film, Powell and Pressburger explore the role of temptation, guilt has on the mind when dealing with religion in Black Narcissus. A film that is about a group of nuns coming to a small village to spread their word of god only to be internally turned upside down by the human impulses being challenged by their beliefs in god and their mission, thus leading to one of the hottest, most complex films the duo ever created. Ryan, Jay, and Dave break down their thoughts on the film, the religious conversations the film is having, how gorgeous the film is, how sexy David Farrar is as Mr. Dean, the use of color photography in the film, and a silly summer movie bet between the two co-hosts that is from a galaxy far, far away. Jennifer Giannini brings more than 30 years of experience leading independent audit engagements for corporate clients across a wide range of industries. Throughout her career, she has developed deep expertise in employee benefit plan audits, making this a primary focus area. After many years of working at Baker Tilly, a national CPA firm, Jennifer recently joined LJB CPA to lead the firm's audit practice. Passionate about building strong client relationships, Jennifer returned to a smaller firm to work more closely with clients and deliver a personalized, value-added experience. Her experience at both mid-sized and national firms gives her a unique ability to tailor services to meet each client's specific needs and complexities. In her years of auditing employee benefit plans, she has pretty much seen just about everything- and enjoys helping plan sponsors navigate the tough issues that keep them up at night. In this episode, Eric and Jennifer Giannini discuss:Protecting participants through disciplined plan auditsMaking audit readiness a year-round responsibilityOwning fiduciary controls that cannot be outsourcedAvoiding costly errors through informed governanceKey Takeaways:Plan audits protect participant assets and confirm the plan follows its governing documents. They ensure contributions, matches, distributions, and eligibility are applied consistently. They also help identify fraud or embezzlement risks early.Audits run smoothly when preparation happens throughout the year. Developing processes that represent a living checklist keeps documentation complete. Retaining internal records prevents gaps that auditors will flag. Some fiduciary duties remain with the plan sponsor at all times. Regular reconciliations and documented committee oversight demonstrate prudence. Simple tracking helps surface issues before they escalate.Operational errors often stem from payroll misalignment with plan terms. Early engagement with experienced ERISA auditors reduces surprises. Committees must weigh cost, complexity, and fiduciary risk together.“The early bird always gets the worm. The earlier you start that process with your auditor, the better.” - Jennifer GianniniConnect with Jennifer Giannini:Website: https://ljbcpa.com LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jennifer-giannini-875071a Connect with Eric Dyson: Website: https://90northllc.com/Phone: 940-248-4800Email: contact@90northllc.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/401kguy/ The information and content of this podcast are general in nature and are provided solely for educational and informational purposes. In this episode of the InsuranceAUM.com Podcast, host Stewart Foley, CFA, speaks with Mario Giannini, Executive Co-Chairman and longtime leader of Hamilton Lane, for a candid discussion on the evolving landscape of private markets. Giannini challenges the notion that private equity is “dead,” explaining why fundamentals remain resilient despite recent underperformance and how the long-term value proposition continues to attract institutional investors. The conversation explores key themes shaping portfolios today including secondaries, infrastructure, and the rise of private credit as well as how artificial intelligence is transforming the private markets ecosystem. Giannini also offers perspective on what insurance investors are asking, the importance of asset allocation over market timing, and how culture and discipline have driven Hamilton Lane's enduring success.

First of all, thanks for all the Birthday wishes. Much appreciated. Of course, it's another reminder of my age. Not much I can do about that. Thanks also once again to Paul K Ward for recording and editing at his studioblue in Northeast Portland as is our guest. I'm at my desk again in Northwest Portland. You know lots of musicians moved to Portland because of our music scene, at least in part. Today we're talking to Debra Giannini who has lived all over the place, moving to Portland in 1990. She had multiple careers, the musical one being as a singer/songwriter and folk music artist. But she's about to leave town, to a degree. And as such she's about to launch a farewell Portland tour, singing and playing guitar and baritone ukulele. She's calling it “The Savoring Time Tour.” It begins in Portland and ends (if there is such a thing) in Kansas where she will light like a butterfly on a leaf. That seems like a good time for me to stop talking and let her explain herself.

Sometimes, there are films that stay with us, and A LITTLE FELLOW: The Legacy of A.P. Giannini, directed by Davide Fiore, is one of those films, and I'm pleased to present Davide today on our #LittleItalyPodcast. Back in the day, banks were primarily for the wealthy, and the poor and working class immigrants often stashed their savings under a mattress. But at the turn of the 20th century, A.P. Giannini revolutionized the industry with his small bank in San Francisco. A first-generation Italian-American, his goal was to serve “the little fellow” and breed prosperity within his immigrant community. By building trust and giving loans on a simple handshake, he created one of the largest banks in the country – Bank of America. A LITTLE FELLOW tells his story, and it's remarkable. In addition, A.P. Giannini was also one of the first investors in Hollywood, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Hewlett-Packard. His forward-thinking helped the country through two World Wars and the Great Depression. Davide is a native of Torino, Italy, and has made a name for himself directing and editing in the Italian fashion and advertising industry. He eventually started filming music videos, working along side major Italian labels, singers, and DJ's, when he embarked on his first documentary, titled JUST US, about two Italian DJ's. That documentary gained worldwide distribution, and Davide went on to work in Germany, and London. His subsequent photo exhibition, I'VE ALREADY SEEN IT SOMEWHERE, showcased New York movie locations, and has been hosted in Torino, Rome, and Miami, and published by Vogue Italia. His latest film, A LITTLE FELLOW, is blowing up for its incredible vision and artistic expression. I simply loved it, and had no idea about the story of A.P. Giannini. Please join me in welcoming Davide Fiore on all video and audio podcast platforms of #DeborahKobyltLIVE, #LittleItalyPodcast, & #LittleItalyOfLAPodcast. I'm your host, #DeborahZaraKobylt, and it's my pleasure to welcome you here.

Dregs One is a lot of things, including a podcast host. In this episode, meet and get to know this prolific AF graffiti writer, hip-hop artist, and Bay historian. Dregs starts us off with the story of his parents. His paternal grandmother was abandoned as a child. Her mother, a Black woman, was raped by a white doctor. She moved to Chicago, where she met Dregs' grandfather, who was from Jamaica and, as Dregs puts, was a player. He, too, left the family, abandoning his grandmother after his dad was born. She tried ways of getting help to raise her son (Dregs' dad, who was 13), but ended up dropping him at an orphanage. Dregs' dad experienced racism in the Catholic orphanage in Chicago where he spent his teen years. Education helped him emerge from that darkness, though. He eventually became a police officer in Chicago, but left that job after experiencing more racism and rampant corruption. After that, his dad went on a spiritual quest that landed him in San Francisco. His parents met in The City, in fact, but we need to share Dregs' mom story. Her family was from Massachusetts. Her dad got into trouble when he was young, but managed to become a chemist. He helped develop the chemical process that went into Polaroid film, in fact. He later served in the Korean War before becoming an anti-war activist. He hosted the Boston Black Panthers in his home, in fact. His mom mostly rejected her white culture, owing to many things, including alcoholism. She hung out with Black folks and listened to Black music. She'd be one of or the only white folks in these circles. She went on her own spiritual journey that also ended up here. It was the Eighties in San Francisco when his parents met. Dregs is their only child, though he has some step-siblings through his dad. He says that despite his parents' turbulent relationship, they provided a nice environment for him to grow up in. Because both parents worked, and because he was effectively an only child, Dregs spent a lot of time alone when he was young. His dad got a master's degree and started counseling AIDS patients in The Castro. His mom worked a pediatric intensive care nurse. Though Dregs and I were both young at the time, we go on a sidebar to talk about how devastating the AIDS epidemic must've been. Dregs was born in the late-Eighties and did most of his growing up in the Nineties and 2000s in the Lakeview. Make no mistake, he says—it was the hood. Although he lived on “the best block of the worst street,” he saw a lot as a kid. His mom often got him out of their neighborhood, boarding the nearby M train to go downtown or to Golden Gate Park. His dad wasn't around a lot, so Dregs spent a lot of time hanging out with his mom. They went to The Mission, Chinatown, The Sunset, all over, really. Around fifth grade or so, when he started riding Muni solo, Dregs also got into comic books. He read a lot. He drew a lot. He played a little bit of sports, mostly pick-up basketball. As a born-and-raised San Franciscan, Dregs rattles off the schools he went to—Jose Ortega, Lakeshore Elementary, A.P. Giannini, and Lincoln. But when Dregs got into some trouble in high school, he was taken out and put back in. It was a turbulent period. He eventually graduated from International Studies Academy (ISA) in Potrero Hill. One of the adults' issues with young Dregs was his graffiti writing. For him, it was a natural extension of drawing. He remembered specific graffiti from roll-downs on Market Street he spotted when he was young. He says he was always attracted to the SF underworld. “It was everywhere you went.” Going back to those Muni trips around town with his mom, he'd look out the windows when they went through the tunnels and see all the graffiti, good art, stuff that he later learned that made SF graffiti well-regarded worldwide. While at A.P. Giannini, a friend of his was a tagger. In ninth grade, Dregs broke his fingers and had a cast. One friend tagged his cast, and it dawned on Dregs—he, too, could have a tag. After his first tagging adventure, Dregs ended up at his friend's house. The guy had two Technics turntables. He was in ninth grade, but his friend was already DJing. Among the music in his buddy's rotation was some local artists. “Whoa, this is San Francisco?” young Dregs asked. His mind was blown and his world was opening up. Check back next week for Part 2 with Dregs One. And look for a bonus episode on the San Francisco Art Book Fair later this week. We recorded this podcast in the Inner Richmond in June 2025. Send us a textWhat happens when betrayal, revenge, and real estate collide in California wine country? The aftermath of Cole abandoning Melissa at the altar creates shockwaves through Falcon Crest that nobody could have predicted. Melissa Agretti refuses to play the victim after her public humiliation. Rather than retreating into shame, she transforms her wedding day disaster into an opportunity for reinvention – horseback riding in her couture gown alongside Craig Reardon and setting the stage for what becomes the most jaw-dropping confrontation in Falcon Crest history. When she delivers the first-ever "b*tch" to Angela Channing's face while returning her ruined wedding dress, television history is made in a moment of pure soap opera perfection. Meanwhile, the power struggle over the Giannini vineyard intensifies as Angela and Chase position themselves to control this valuable property. The unexpected arrival of Mary Giannini in a casket rather than on a private jet throws both their schemes into chaos, proving once again that in Tuscany Valley, even the dead play crucial roles in the ongoing vineyard wars. Angela's iconic declaration that her "money is old and strong like the back of my hand" reminds everyone why she remains television's most formidable matriarch. The episode delivers its most surprising wisdom through four-year-old Joseph, whose simple but profound observations about honesty and forgiveness force Cole to reconsider his actions. This leads to an unexpected physical confrontation between Cole and Greg Reardon that somehow transforms into friendship, culminating in an impromptu vineyard wedding where enemies become allies in true soap opera fashion. From Angela's symbolically split red-and-gray outfit to Richard's bizarre reaction to Lorraine's pregnancy, "Recriminations" showcases why primetime soaps of the 1980s created such devoted audiences. If you're nostalgic for the golden age of television melodrama or discovering these classics for the first time, this landmark episode demonstrates precisely why these stories continue to captivate decades later.

We discuss Visconti's final film, currently available to see through the BFI streaming service, in conjunction with the Visconti season recently held at the Southbank, and in a lush and lovely print. Richard had to convince me to podcast on this and I'm glad we did. We both think it a great film, without being anywhere near Visconti's greatest, a measure of the director's extraordinary achievements. Here we discuss it in relation to D'Annunzzio's original novel (The Intruder is the literal translation of the novel's Italian title); the lushness of décor and costuming, which sometimes seem a John Singer Sargent painting come to life; how the mise-en-scène vividly and complexly conveys character feeling, often without dialogue, and with such skill it can make a viewer swoony with admiration; we talk of how Alain Delon and Romy Schneider were originally cast and admire the performances of Giancarlo Giannini, Jennifer O'Neill, Laura Antonelli and Rina Morelli. It was also lovely to (barely) recognise Massimo Girotti, so beautiful in OSSESSIONE, as one of Giannini's rivals for Jennifer O'Neill's favours. We discuss the auction scene, and the fencing scene between husband lover in some detail; how the film reminds us of the 19th century novel in its narrative sweep, melodramatic accents and its dramatization of complex ideas (faith vs science, moral actions in a world without God, marriage vs free love, equality between the sexes, etc.). A world of feeling and desire, fuelled by melodrama; a beautiful film slightly marred by its ending. We discuss all of this and more here:

Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 67 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys are joined by Dave Giannini, Editor-In-Chief of InSession Film, to discuss the final film in their Terrence Malick series, A Hidden Life (2019). The time has come for the Malick series to come to an end, and it is ending with yet another beautiful look to the past by the director after years of making personal films about the present. In taking a journey back to the past, the director was able to search into a man's personal, religious reasoning for not wanting to go to war for the Nazis. Shot beautifully cinematographer Jörg Widmer, Malick has created another masterpiece of epic, poetic masterpiece, contrary to many who thought it was just another Malick film; this one is just as special as the rest. Ryan, Jay, and Dave break down their relationship with the film, Malick's stance on religion, the film's beautiful score, the excellent performance from August Diehl, give their final thoughts on the series, their final Malick rankings, and announce their next series they will be doing starting next week.
