Welcome to PTBN Pop's Video Jukebox Song of The Day! Every weekday will be featuring a live watch of a great and memorable music video. This week, since we're on the road to WrestleMania, all of the songs featured have been the theme song for Monday Night Raw at some point. On today's episode, Steve Riddle is watching, “Across The Nation” by The Union Underground from 2002. This week, to celebrate the 100th episode of My Weekly Mixtape, I am creating "The Ultimate Mixtape" along with 65 guest curators, all of which were either previous My Weekly Mixtape guests, friends of the show or one of the amazing Patreon Mixtapers. And, because I simply couldn't celebrate 100 episodes in one sitting, this week will consist of three brand-new episodes! Now, to create this Ultimate Mixtape, I started by asking these 65 different people the same question: If you had to choose one song for the ultimate mixtape (any song / any genre), that would be locked away in a time capsule for others to discover years or decades for now…which song would you choose and why? Now, I'm not lost on the fact that the question is just a spin on the “desert island song” question that a lot of my guests have been asked countless times. The twist for the next few episodes is: I am taking those 65 song choices (all of which are from various bands, artists, decades, genres and tempos), and curating them into what I hope will be a properly sequenced playlist from a musical perspective! At the very least? This was a fun & unique twist on a question as old as interviews themselves. But at its best? Congratulations, you're listening to The Ultimate Mixtape!! Guests appearing in Vol. 1 (in no particular order): Robin Wilson of Gin Blossoms, Jim Loughlin of moe., Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel, Don Jamieson of RockStrap & VH1's That Metal Show, Coco Kinnon of Winona Fighter, Bryan Scott of Union Underground, Britt Lightning of Vixen, Sandy MacKinnon of Royal Tusk, Christian Swain of Rock & Roll Archaeology / Pantheon Podcasts, Joe Milliken, Author of “Let's Go! Benjamin Orr & The Cars”, DT Carel of SpaceCastle, Ed Cunard of Fawkes & Friends, Steve of Something For Nothing: A Rush Fancast, Zack Derby of NeatCast, Ben Montgomery of Records Revisited Podcast, Matt Kennedy of XRadioX, Tony G. of Podioslave, Miles Schuman of Rock Camp: The Podcast, and last (but certainly not least!) two of the incredible Patreon Mixtapers: Seeker & Tom Hutchinson. Be sure to visit MyWeeklyMixtape.com to hear all of the songs we discussed in this episode, and join the My Weekly Mixtape Discord Server via the link on the episode page! Theme music is "Unveiled" by The 4th. You can find the album on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, YouTube, Bandcamp & more! From GM torpedoing the Malibu to Kalifornistan blowing up your right to roam, it's in there. Remember, just because you don't care about politics doesn't mean politicians don't want to screw you. There's some good stuff to be heard on this episode, though - longtime contender for Best Boss Ever Col. Doug Hamlin just got voted in to fix the NRA, Texas AG Ken Paxton just scored one for America versus Biden's basement, and rock and/or roll with Melvins, Union Underground, Puny Human, Atomic Bitchwax, Adema, Ennio Morricone, Deftones and Killing Joke.

Thursday has arrived, and here comes the snow! Supposed to start sometime after midnight with several inches expected in our area. We kicked things off with the Thursday Song and talked about the Powerball & Mega Millions jackpots both reaching closer & closer to record levels. The Dodgers & Padres are opening the MLB season in Seoul, South Korea, but the big news this morning was that Shohei Ohtani's personal interpreter was apparently stealing a LOT of his money & gambling with it. We played Maggie's F'ING song this morning, and she was VERY happy because she's going to see Ra with Soil, Flaw, & the Union Underground tomorrow night at the Q&Z Expo Center in Wausau. Have fun! Had a great story about a roofing company that effed up by tearing the roof off the wrong house, but rather than go through the courts with lawsuits & wasted time, they replaced the roof with a brand new one! Brian went on a rant about the new "Road House" movie that hits Amazon today, and Shaw had another story about a hot air balloon, this time from Rochester, MN! Talked a lot about gambling this morning with the Powerball & Mega Millions jackpots & the Shohei Ohtani stuff…and apparently, gamblers have threatened Cleveland Cavaliers head coach, J.B. Bickerstaff. Played a round of "Who'd You Rather?" this morning, and most people who responded to our question said they'd gladly take a 99% lifetime discount on taxes over anything else. During "The Friggin' Sports", we talked about the upcoming Netflix series, "Receivers", and in today's "Bad News with Happy Music, we had stories about a guy who was too high to testify in court, a bison herd that got loose by a school, a fisherman who caught a MASSIVE paddlefish, a guy who was posing as a tow truck driver & stealing people's cars, a weed bust in Weed, Oregon…a teen who got busted with over 200 doses of fentanyl, a mover that stole a couple's "sex dominoes", and a recent survey about what age people start swearing. S7E12 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 21 March 2024. It was full throttle out of the gate with Dio and ‘Evil Eyes'. We had some new music from Dan Patlansky, Judas Priest and Bruce Dickenson. Most interesting is a new single from Vended. I am really digging Vended a lot, sons of Slipknot, literally, Griffin Tayor and Simon Crahan doing their parents proud. To remind you to get tickets for next year's Green Day, The Offspring, and Fokofpolisikar concert in Cape Town and JHB we again took a quick track from each of them. This weeks Twisted Twins featured a song called 'Lost in Hollywood'. The new Judas Priest is out so obviously we continued to rave about that. This week's Immortals feature was incredible. Mark Knopfler has assembled 60 musicians, mostly guitarists (he's got Ringo and his son Zak on drums and Sting on Bass), and it is a veritable who's who of guitar. The track has been recorded by Mark Knopfler and Friends to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It's a new version of 'Going Home' (Theme from Local Hero) and, it includes contributions from among others Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Springsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John Mc Laughlin, Brian May, the list goes. Incredible. This week's Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘L'. The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one. This week we had: Loverboy – Get LuckyLed Zeppelin – Over the Hills and Far AwayLynyrd Skynyrd – Second HelpingLive – Throwing Copper Artists Featured: Dio, Chickenfoot, Phil X & the Drills, ACDC, ZZ Top, Saxon, Motörhead, The Union Underground, Overkill, Black Tide, Alice Cooper, Doomsday Outlaw, Michael Schenker Group, Guns ‘n' Roses, Volbeat, Rainbow, System of a Down, Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Bullet For My Valentine, Machine Head, Green Day, The Offspring, Fokofpolisiekar, Loverboy, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Live, Metallica, Megadeth, Vended, Piet Botha & Jackhammer, Joe Bonamassa, Dan Patlansky, Pink Floyd. This week we have a massive mix from the one called Karl K, enjoy and support. Quoted from Fierce and Fresh "That feeling of connection between everyone working out their life's stresses and problems, together as one... it's one of the most inspiring things if you really understand breakbeat culture. We are asking for your for help in supporting a longtime friend and pioneer of Jungle / D&B in the USA. A legit household name in the Rave scene from the very beginning, Karl Danner, is hugely responsible for exposing North America to the music he loves so much and changing the course of many of our lives forever. Karl is dealing with a very drastic change in his own life after recently experiencing two strokes, which has resulted in permanent brain damage. He now struggles daily with double vision, difficulty speaking and limited mobility. It breaks our hearts to see him going through such a difficult and challenging time in his life. It is easy to take things for granted in life. Everything can change in an instant. Please take a moment to reflect on this. We are all very proud of Karl for pushing through the pain and frustration to continue to be creative and share his talent with us. He is defiant, strong willed and driven. Circle the date, October 26. Las Vegas. That's when Susan Mitchell, a longtime credit union consultant, is convening another meeting of the Credit Union Underground, this time in parallel with Money 20/20, probably the meeting of the best and brightest in the disruptive quadrant of financial services. The point of each Underground is collision with disruptors. A lot - maybe most - credit union executives cling to their individual comfort zones. But get with reality. Maybe half of today's 5500 credit unions will go poof in the next decade.Bye bye.At the Undergrounds, attendees get exposed to disruptive thought - but they also see they aren't required to face the challenges alone, a lot of credit union people are in the same boat.A Mitchell belief is that widespread cooperation helped build the credit union industry. And a renewed commitment to cooperation just may be its salvation.Ask yourself this: what's your institution's purpose? Who did you help today? Whose life did you change?Credit unions were created to help community members, to change lives. Are they still doing that? And know that that is a path to survival. Greetings, loyal #1uu listeners. I wish we were reconvening under happier circumstances but, given the setback of last Wednesday, it is as important a time as ever to be continuing our on-going conversation about building the labor movement. Obviously, the setback I’m referring to is the United States Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling in favor of weakening unions and our movement by striking down public sector “fair share” fees with Wednesday’s Janus V. AFSCME decision. This decision is not just a blow to organized labor but, more broadly, a blow to every working family across America as this weakening of the labor movement will undoubtedly exacerbate our country’s income and wealth inequality crisis. Even though this has been a depressing week, we try to replace despair with hope by reminding you that when we are under attack, we stand up and fight back. To that end, welcome to SR Episode Three (Revenge of the Koch Brother…err…Sith). This installment was recorded at the House of Jeezy Studios on Wednesday, June 20th – one week before the Janus decision was issued by SCOTUS. Nevertheless, because the Janus decision was anticipated, Ted James and Jay-Dao provide a complete breakdown of the case and its implications. Later in the proceedings, our dynamic duo talk about Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and its despicable attempt to petition Donald J. Trump’s Labor Department to help them bust their employees’ legally-formed union. Next, the Union Underground imprint’s second video, District 7 Is CWA Strong is revealed and we get an update on Jay-Dao’s efforts to become the real-life version of The Union CEO. Finally, our hosts wrap up with another round of fun, lighthearted rapid-fire questions. We hope you will find our third installment of the pod informative and inspiring. Remember, don’t mourn. What’s good, #1uu fam? Happy Presidents’ Day! It’s been a minute but we’re finally back. Did you miss us? I’m guessing that some of you might have been starting to think that Solidarity Radio was a one-and-done experiment. Well alas, we're finally back with SR Episode Two (Attack of the Clones). This installment of your favorite labor movement podcast was recorded a little less than two weeks ago. Ted James and Jay-Dao returned to the House of Jeezy Studios on Wednesday, February 7th to sail Union Underground’s flagship production back out to sea. During this episode, Jay-Dao and Ted James chop it up about Super Bowl LII, T-Mobile’s diversity Super Bowl ad, fake news, partisan politics in the era of Trump, and Election 2018. Later in the proceedings, our dynamic duo talk about impending attacks on organized labor, building a Labor Movement that can makes moves with Netflix money, and new paradigms for organizing workers. Finally, our hosts wrap up with some fun, lighthearted rapid-fire questions. Happy Labor Day and welcome to the inaugural episode of Solidarity Radio! What is Solidarity Radio? I’m glad you asked. Solidarity Radio is a labor movement podcast hosted by Ted James and Jay-Dao. It is recorded in Denver, CO and is part of the Union Underground imprint. Our goals for the podcast are to a) use it as vehicle for bringing new folks into the labor movement, b) talk about ways to build the movement, c) interview key unionists from time to time, and d) (last but not least) have fun. This first episode was recorded on June 3rd, 2017 and, because it was recorded late at night, actually ran into June 4th, 2017. During the episode, Ted James and Jay-Dao talk about restoring the American labor movement to a former glory, income redistribution to the top, and the conundrum of conservatives voting against their own economic interests. Later, our hosts interview one another about the other’s labor movement journey and then they wrap up with some rapid fire light-hearted questions.
