In this episode, we talk to Rich Razgaitis (Co-Founder & CEO of FloWater) as we discuss how he started his company, what he looks for when turning around a company, and his passion to drastically reduce plastic water bottles.  **More On Rich** Rich “Raz” Razgaitis is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FloWater, where he leads the Denver-based company in its vision to create a new distributed and decentralized water platform. The company is on a mission to disrupt the drinking water industry by delivering the best-tasting water in the world and eliminate single-use plastic water bottles and packaging waste. FloWater has become the beverage of choice for such companies as Google, Red Bull, prAna, Oneill, Play Station, Specialized Bikes, Alaska Airlines and Xponential Fitness, as well as the Oakland school system. Since the company launched in 2013, its proprietary, new-tech water Refill Stations have saved more than 130 million plastic bottles from the environment and is on track to save over one billion plastic single-use bottles by 2022. Razgaitis originated the concept and product development of FloWater and has scaled the brand significantly since its initial distribution in only one state: Today, FloWater Refill Stations are used daily at over 5,000 hotels, schools, corporations, gyms, retailers and events in nearly 50 states. Razgaitis' role is focused around financial and business strategy, investor relations, team hiring and organizational development, product development, and strategic growth partnerships, while overseeing operational execution—from manufacturing to customer service. He recently secured $15mm in Series B growth funding for FloWater. In 2019, FloWater was recognized as a “Top 500” company on the annual INC 5000 list of fastest-growing growing privately-held companies in America. In his career, Razgaitis has been passionate about building brands and teams. Since 2002, he has served in CEO/president-level roles in several venture capital-backed start-ups, privately held turnaround, and growth companies, and he brings insight from those experiences to his work today at FloWater. Razgaitis was the CEO of several consumer-tech companies, including DealOn, an e-commerce company that developed the Web's first deal-commerce exchange, and another, MyTownPerks, which built the first PCI-complaint, the cloud-based loyalty program for B2B. (Both companies were subsequently acquired.) Razgaitis has deep experience in the consumer-goods industry, having led personal-care and nutrition company Univera into fast growth, with revenues doubling from $35 million to $100 million per year. With a specialty in rebuilding brands, Razgaitis also restarted a privately held consumer company, Blaine Pharmaceuticals, where he led product development and licensing of a dozen new products and drove commercialization into over 30,000 food and drug stores nationwide. He started his career in Fortune 500 companies, including Johnson & Johnson and Eli Lily. Razgaitis grew up in the Midwest and holds a BA in marketing and an MBA in general business and marketing from Anderson University. When not working, you can find Razgaitis spending time with his two teenage daughters, where he gets to refine his ‘dad jokes,' or studying his Enneagram, volunteering with Defy Ventures, which focuses on ending mass incarceration and recidivism or riding a motorcycle in the summer and snowboard in the winter.   Follow Rich on LinkedIn Visit our website TheStartupLifePodcast.com Follow The Startup Life Podcast Facebook Page Want gear from The Startup Life? Check out our gear! The current Downhill Mountain Bike World Champion, Loic Bruni, is interviewing the rider of his choice at each World Cup DH round in 2019 for his Outspoken series on Vital MTB. This episode features the Greatest Of All Time, Greg Minnaar. Following a horrific start to the season in Maribor, where Greg failed to qualify for race day (a career first), he sits down with Loic to discuss all aspects of mountain bike racing. Career longevity, bike tech like 29ers in downhill, being on the Santa Cruz Syndicate with Steve Peat, Nathan Rennie and Josh Bryceland, the boredom of training and even the art of crying are touched on. When the person conducting the interview knows the elite-level stresses and struggles as well as the subject, incredible insight is the result.

This may be the most insightful look into what it means to be a modern downhill mountain bike racer. Troy Brosnan, tied for 2nd place in the 2019 UCI World Cup DH overall, sits down with Loic Bruni, the current leader in the downhill race series. Troy is known for his consistency at the races, regularly placing 2nd or 3rd. He's won two World Cup downhills in his career, but Loic questions Troy if it's time to push harder for the win. The two discuss race technique, the mountain bike community, being teammates with Sam Hill, Aaron Gwin and Fabien Barel, junior racing and bike setup (with Troy racing a 29-inch front wheel for the first time in Val di Sole this weekend). The interview concludes with the two discussing pro racing contract negotiation and the secrecy behind it all. Truly a fascinating and candid interview with two of the fastest mountain bikers on the planet in the latest Outspoken interview. We are honored at Vital to be a part of this incredible interview series with Loic this year. Aaron "Mono" Bartlett put it all together and made it happen, and we're blown away. The questions Loic asks, the experiences only he and these riders have gone through make it so special. Thank you Loic, Mono, Fox Racing for getting behind it and the interview guests. -gordo

How many of you love riding your bike? It doesn't matter if you're shredding down a mountain or commuting to your job, there's just something special about being on two wheels because it harkens back to childhood and represents freedom and exploration with wide eyes and helmet hair. Stephanie Kaplan is the Road Product Manager for Specialized Bikes. Yes, many of the bikes you see on the shelves at your local shop were conceived and designed by Stephanie and her co-workers of creative designers and engineers.  This is the ultimate "dream job" journey about how she went from casual rider, to racer, to Ambassador and finally to Product Manager for one of the biggest bike companies in the world in a short span of time.  It's a job that has taken her around the globe and it even made she and her husband a bi-coastal partnership for the first two years. How did she land her dream gig? How do bike companies even know what to design?  How do they research and predict industry trends 2, 3 and 4 years into the future?  We talk bikes, but the conversation would be complete without a little dive into her personal life including some unfair perceptions of her "leaving her husband" and moving across the country to chase her dreams in a male-dominated industry. We also touch on the life-changing turn of becoming a Mom because, yes, apparently absence does make the heart grow fonder.  You can have it all, but you have to chase it and make some concessions, but you should NEVER underestimate the power of your passions because they can turn into your dream job!   Carrie Barrett Site tritobefunny.com  Copyright 2018 All Rights Reserved Theme Music: ”Aitech"Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Three days past and after that, Danny was dead. Danny was a really great guy, a nice guy, and the bottle still got to him. Danny was too proud to get help. If you are one of those people, you can try an intervention, but the fastest solution is to just walk into an AA meeting to get help. There's AA meeting's everywhere, just go to a meeting, just check it out and see what's going on. Danny was just too far gone, his liver was gone, and he simply died. A Year From Now... Have you thought about that yet? It’s “that time of the year.” I’ve made two different Spotify playlists for holiday music (one to play during the “in-between-times” during seminars this month, the other to play in my hotel room or office while I’m working!). Now, since I celebrate Christmas, I did write to Santa to ask him for the one thing I want this year…In case any of you know someone who works at Specialized Bikes, let them know Santa’s gonna come by to pick up my bicycle! Ok, speaking of things going well, in this podcast episode I’m going to continue “pulling the curtain open” on the 4 things you can do this month to prepare for an even better 2015. In this episode, you'll also learn… Did you know you can email Jason any time??? Three things that bring people down. Where in the world is Jason? The #1 tactic that Get Momentum members learn to “get better” every day. What Confucius, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Paine, Peter Drucker and Jason Womack say about the absolute power (and necessity) of reflection. If you leave a comment in the blog post/show notes, I’m going to see that and I’m going to comment … on your comment. Let’s get the discussion going! Next month, the new year is here. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and make that change… If it’s time to make new habits, you need this podcast. I promise!!
