Have you ever felt like your message just isn't landing? You're posting on Instagram, writing emails, updating your website, maybe even blogging or running ads, but the response isn't what you'd hoped for. When someone does reach out, they're unsure, vague, and often just asking, “How much do you charge?” before disappearing. If this sounds familiar, it might be a messaging clarity issue. In this episode, I dive into why not having a niche, or having one that is too broad or not in demand, could be the reason your business feels stuck. I share my story of starting out as a general paediatric dietitian, what changed when I finally niched down, and how you can apply those same steps to get unstuck in your own business.Episode SummaryIn this episode, I tackle the fear of niching down and why it is the key to clarity, connection, and a thriving business. I talk about how staying broad can keep you blurry and why specificity in your messaging is what makes your dream clients say, “Yes, that is me.”I share my journey from being a jack-of-all-trades paediatric dietitian to becoming the go-to expert for fussy eaters, and how that decision transformed my business. I also walk you through the five steps to finding your niche:Identifying who you get the best results for.Pinpointing the specific problem you solve.Understanding their audience and emotional needs.Checking for demand in the market.Declaring and owning your niche with confidence. If you have been stuck in generalist limbo, this episode will give you the tools to finally niche down and create a business that flows with ease.Key TakeawaysSpecificity is key: Broad messaging keeps you blurry, while clear and specific messaging makes you unforgettable.Fear of niching is normal: It is not about locking yourself in a box, but about choosing a direction and building clarity.Solve urgent problems: Focus on bleeding neck problems, not stubbed toes.Know your audience deeply: Understand their daily lives, secret worries, and what keeps them up at night.Demand matters: A niche is not just about passion, it needs to be something people are willing to pay to fix.Let's take actionTake 10 minutes today to reflect on your niche. Answer these four questions:Who do you get the best results for? What specific problem are they struggling with?Is it an urgent problem or something they can live with? Are people already paying to solve this problem? When you find clarity in your niche, everything elI'd love to hear from you, click the link to 'text' the show directly Mindset Programme Waitlist: https://www.sarahalmondbushell.com/mindset-waitlist Freedom Formula: https://www.sarahalmondbushell.com/freedom-formula Website: https://www.sarahalmondbushell.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dietitiansinbusiness/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dietitiansinbusinessYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@BeyondTheClinicPodcast The Master Plan - Discover the 22 steps you need to take (in the right order) to build a successful business so you can earn enough to live the freedom lifestyle you dream of. https://www.sarahalmondbushell.com/master-plan

No one taught us how to run a business when we trained as healthcare professionals. We were taught to help people, not to market ourselves or build financially sustainable practices. In this episode, I'm sharing the three most common mistakes healthcare professionals make in business and how to fix them. These insights will transform your business and income, so let's dive in!Episode SummaryHere's what we're covering today:1️⃣ The Time-for-Money Trap – Why relying solely on one-to-one sessions keeps your income capped and what to do instead.2️⃣ The Automation Gap – How not having a client attraction system is making business harder than it needs to be.3️⃣ The Marketing Myth – Why being on directories or having a website isn't actually marketing your business. This episode is all about creating awareness, not blame. Welcome to This Week's EpisodeOne of the biggest challenges for clinicians and health professionals using social media is knowing how much personal content to share. You want to build trust and connection with your audience, but where do you draw the line between being relatable and maintaining professionalism? This week's episode was inspired by a question from one of my clients in the Accelerate Mastermind group: How much of my personal life should I share on social media? If you've ever debated whether to post something personal, worried about oversharing, or felt unsure about how to balance credibility with authenticity, this episode is for you.Episode SummaryWe explore the fine line between personal and professional sharing as a healthcare professional on social media. While personal content helps to build trust, oversharing can dilute your credibility. I share a three-step framework to help you define what to share and what to keep private, so you can show up online with confidence while maintaining professional boundaries. We also discuss common mistakes clinicians make on social media, why engagement-driven content can be tempting, and how to ensure that what you share aligns with your business goals.Key TakeawaysPersonal content builds trust, but it should be intentional and aligned with your values.Oversharing can blur professional boundaries and impact credibility.Define your key themes - choose 3-5 personal elements that support your brand and client relationships.Set clear boundaries - decide in advance what's off-limits.Consider separate accounts if you also want a private space to share more freely.Take action today - post one small personal insight that reflects a shared value with your audience. If you found this episode helpful, please leave a review and share it with a colleague who might benefit. Many clinicians and health professionals struggle with engagement, but the good news is that it's not about posting more, it's about posting smarter.Episode SummaryThis week, we're breaking down the four Instagram algorithms - feed, explore, reels, and stories - and how each one determines what gets seen. The key to making social media work for your business isn't about beating the algorithm but understanding how it operates and what type of content keeps your audience engaged. We'll also discuss why engagement, watch time, and content structure are critical to growing your presence online. If you've ever felt like social media just isn't working for you, this episode will help you reframe your approach and make small but impactful changes.Key TakeawaysSocial media platforms prioritise engagement and time spent on content, not just frequency of posting. The algorithm isn't working against you—it's simply reacting to what people interact with.Reels and shareable content have the highest potential for reaching new audiences.Building a following takes time, but small strategic changes can lead to big improvements.Instead of chasing numbers, focus on creating content that truly connects with your audience.Resources & Links

Send us a textWelcome Back to Beyond the Clinic!Hi, I'm Sarah Almond Bushell, and welcome to episode 23 of Beyond the Clinic. Today, we're tackling something that many of us might be guilty of—“winging it” when it comes to business strategy. This episode is titled Stop Winging It and Do This Instead because, let's face it, running a successful business requires more than just waiting for clients to knock on your door. We'll be diving into why a planned, strategic approach to sales and marketing is key for growing your business. Stick around for my top three tips on how you can plan ahead and stop leaving your success to chance!Episode SummaryIn this episode, I share the importance of planning in your business, whether it's for campaigns, sales activities, or promotions. Based on a poll I ran in my Facebook group, I discovered that most professionals, like myself in the early days, tend to “wing it” without a solid business strategy. But if you want more clients and more revenue, you've got to do more than just rely on directories or sit back and wait for business to come to you.We look at why you should identify key times in the year to focus on promotional campaigns, how to structure your sales activities, and what kind of content you should be producing to align with those key moments. I also share my personal experience of attending a business content planning event and the big lessons I learned from industry expert Janet Murray. Let's get strategic!Key Takeaways:Planning is Key: Success comes from being proactive. Don't wait for clients to come to you—plan ahead and map out your sales activities.Identify Key Promotional Times: Focus your campaigns around times when your audience is most likely to need your service. Awareness days and holidays like Black Friday can be great opportunities for promotions.Diverse Sales Strategies: Don't just sell the same thing in the same way year-round. You need different ways to sell the same service or product, and a clear strategy for promoting them.Engage and Convert Your Audience: Your content should guide your audience towards becoming clients by addressing their objections, giving them quick wins, and providing proof of your value.Set Deadlines for Decisions: Encourage your audience to act by giving them a deadline. Without it, they may never make a decision, which doesn't serve them or your business.I hope this episode helps you stop winging it and start thinking strategically about how you're going to generate clients and income throughout the year. Send us a Text Message.Thank you for joining me today for this unscripted, behind-the-scenes episode of Beyond the Clinic. I'm your host, Sarah Almond Bushell, and today I want to share a significant decision I've made in my business. This episode is a bit off-the-cuff because I want to capture my thoughts while they're fresh. I'll be discussing why I've decided to close my Facebook group, which has over 6,000 members.Episode SummaryIn this episode, I delve into the journey of my Facebook group, "The Children's Nutritionist Community," which I started in 2019. Initially, the group grew rapidly and served as a supportive space for parents seeking nutrition advice for their children. However, in recent times, engagement has dwindled, and I've realised that maintaining the group is no longer aligned with my business goals or worth the effort. I discuss the reasons behind this decision, including changes in my business focus, the decline in group activity, and my desire to simplify and optimise my business operations.Key TakeawaysInitial Success and Growth: The Facebook group started strong, quickly attracting thousands of members. It served as a great platform for connecting with my audience, building trust, and practising live video sessions.Declining Engagement: Over the past year, engagement in the group has significantly decreased, with only a few posts per week from members. My own reduced activity, including fewer live sessions, contributed to this decline.Shifting Business Focus: My business has evolved, and I now primarily help parents with their children's fussy eating, rather than the broader topics initially covered in the group. Many new members seek advice on topics outside my current focus, such as weaning and food allergies.Simplifying Business Operations: Simplifying my business to focus on fewer, more impactful activities has become a priority. Maintaining the Facebook group no longer aligns with this goal, as it requires considerable effort without significant returns.Mental Health Considerations: Social media, particularly Facebook, impacts my mental health negatively. By moving my communities to a platform like Kajabi, I can offer support without the stress associated with social media.Testing Platforms: Running a test comparing engagement and sales between Facebook and Instagram revealed that Instagram is far more effective for my business. This confirmed my decision to close the Facebook group.Advice for Others: For those managing multiple platforms, my advice is to focus on one and master it before expanding. Ensure that any community you build is niche and clearly defined to avoid diluting your efforts. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review. See you next time!
