Where electronics meets music, there is a board called Daisy. Created by ElectroSmith, Andrew Ikenberry, the goal of the board is to teach computers to sing. Andrew joined us to talk about music, audio processing, instruments, product design, and electronic manufacturing. See the Electrosmith website, specifically the Daisy Seed. The electro-smith github repository is extensive (with many Daisy Examples). Also see their YouTube channel. Electrosmith is offering 5% off until mid-March for folks with the coupon code mentioned in the show. We mentioned a number of synths but the CHOMPI is particularly nifty. Daisy Bell - Wikipedia (and where you might have heard that before (and if that doesn't give “teach computers to sing” a creepy vibe, I don't know what will)). Wondering how to celebrate Valentine's Day at Walt Disney World? We share the top six ways to celebrate Valentine's Day in style, plus a look at new Disney Parks wedding options and the new Disney Weddings gowns for 2024.New Disney Wedding Style Options Disney Weddings has added EPCOT with Spaceship Earth as a backdrop to its list of locations for in-park weddings at Walt Disney World. Disney noted that the offering includes enhanced unique lighting displays on Spaceship Earth, choreographed to music and changing color patterns. EPCOT is now available to book for Disney weddings taking place in January 2025 and beyond. In case you were wondering, Disney in-park weddings offer a lot of potential setups. Pricing will rise into the hundreds of thousands, starting with a standard $40,000 ceremony fee and going up from there. You must use Disney transportation and so on. Weddings take place two to three hours after park closing. Ever wondered why Magic Kingdom was closing early one day for no apparent reason? Weddings can involved extravagent seating and couches along Main Street. The reception in from of the castle with tables elegantly designed. An underlit dance floor in front of the castle. Arrive by a trip down Main Street in Cinderella's Carriage and so on. Disney Wedding Gowns 2024 And if you're mortgaging the house for a Disney Wedding, then you have to have a Disney Princess inspired gown from the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection, right? The 2024 line of Disney bridal gowns was just released and the gowns are, not surprisingly, stunning (and so is the photography being posted on social media by Disney). Sizes are available from 0 to 30 and gowns start at $1,799. Follow Disney Weddings on Instagram or Facebook if you want to see what all the buzz is about. -- Top Six Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day in Style at Walt Disney World How to Surprise Your Special Someone with a Magical Valentine's at Disney WorldSpa Treatment for TwoIf you are a couple who loves spas (or even if your significant other loves them and you want to make it special), the Grand Floridian Spa at Walt Disney World is a great spa where you can relax and unwind together. To book a treatment you can call a Spa Co-ordinator at (407) 824-3039 for more information on their couples options and other spa services. Hot Air Balloon RideIf you find it romantic to think of experiencing the "World" from high in the sky, head over to Disney Springs where you can board the Aerophile hot air balloon. This is a fun hot air balloon ride that floats 400 feet above the ground, offering great views of Walt Disney World (and beyond) day and night. You likely won't have the balloon to yourself on this one (it holds 30 people in total), but if you time it right you can catch a flight at sunset or during the fireworks displays for a little extra burst of romance and Disney magic. Cost is currently $30.00 per person (DVC and AP discounts may be available).Disney Springs Shopping SpreeIf your Valentine loves to shop, then why not surprise them with a Disney shopping spree at Disney Springs?! Gift your Valentine a gift card (or cash--which might be better for non-Disney shops) and accompany them on a shopping spree tour of Disney Springs! This is a particularly great gift if you don't normally like to spend time shopping, making it extra thoughtful and something your Valentine will truly appreciate it. Plus you have the option of making a day of it with a hot air balloon ride, treats and a romantic dinner!Romantic Carriage RideIs there anything more romantic than a horse-drawn carriage ride? Horse-drawn carriage rides are offered through the wilderness trails of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and also at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. There aren't many things more romantic than snuggling up with your special someone in an old fashioned horse-drawn carriage through relaxing natural surroundings. The rides are approximately 25 minutes long and leave from Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness and Boatwright's Dining Hall at Port Orleans. Call Disney Reservations for more information: 407-939-7529.Romantic Dinner for TwoNo romantic Disney vacation together would be complete without at least one extra special dinner for two. While Disney World is known for its fun themed dining and character experiences, it is also home to some first-rate award-winning restaurants, many of which are ideal for a romantic dinner for two. You can choose from very formal experiences such as Victoria & Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, to more relaxed--yet very elegant--surroundings such as Citrico's right next door or Narcoossee's, nearby. Other great choices include Via Napoli, Takumi-Tei and Monsieur Paul at EPCOT or The Boathouse at Disney Springs. Pick your personal favorite, or even better, make a surprise choice if you know a particular restaurant they love or want to try. Whatever your tastes, there is a great romantic spot for you somewhere around Walt Disney World. Bicycle Built for TwoFinally, for some casual but thoughtful romantic fun, a bicycle built for two is a romantic notion that you can do in a very practical way at Walt Disney World with your Valentine. Rent a surrey bike at Disney's Boardwalk Inn (or several other places around Walt Disney World) and you can enjoy a cozy bike ride side-by-side with your special someone. Riding along the Disney Boardwalk and adjacent area at night amidst the lights and activity of the surrounding area is a particularly romantic experience. Plus, you can enjoy dinner, a drink, dessert or even a nightclub after the ride at The Boardwalk--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. My guest today is Szifra Burke. Szifra was born to Yiddish parents, immigrants from Poland to America. She grew up in Massachusetts deeply affected and inspired by her immigrant parents' Holocaust experiences and their indomitable tenacity. She has a real passion for storytelling, and for life too!In preparation for her interview, I watched her talk on WorldChannel about he she got her name. Well needless to say I ended up in tears. As with the women on my shows, this is one POWER house of a woman! She produced Browsing Through Birkes, a documentary she co-produced about growing up in her family's quirky retail clothing store with her irascible, opinionated father, well-liked mother, and their sometimes mistreated but loyal customers. Today Szifra is an Executive Leadership Coach, Financial Behavior Specialist, and ally of immigrants.BUT that's not why I'm interviewing her!Today I'm Chatting to Shifra about her recent book “In Tandem: Pedaling Through Midlife on a Bicycle Built for Two”.We spoke;CyclingRelationshipsAnd tackling life no matter what ageI really loved our chat. You've simply have GOT to buy the book! 6/23/2022--This week on The Horse Race, Steve and Lisa share their opinions on a *critical* Massachusetts food service matchup -- Dunkin' Donuts and Market Basket. If the two were on the ballot, which is securing your vote? Later, Rich Parr, Research Director at The MassINC Polling Group shares details on the newest MPG transportation poll. The statewide survey asked residents whether they support policies like free and discounted bus fares, and their feelings on the safety of transportation modes like highways and the T. The poll also asked about e-bike rebates, and to talk more about proposed legislation surrounding e-bikes, Galen Mook of the Massachusetts Bicycle Coaltion stops by. An Act relative to electric bicycle rebates would provide $500 rebates for general consumers and up to $750 for low to moderate income consumers.

The story of Peter and Tracy Flucke is like a book with many chapters centered around bicycling, together and alone, for more than fifty years.Their first tour in 1991 was one for the books; a multi-day fundraiser ride with Peter pulling their 6-month-old daughter in a trailer with his road bike. Changing diapers along the side of the road, warming bottles in gas station microwaves, what an experience! In 1995 Peter & Tracy bought their first tandem bicycle to do longer rides with their two young daughters and realized they also liked riding as a couple. They purchased a road/touring tandem they named Violet six years later, and the rest is history. They like to say they bought their first tandem to make their family strong and bought their second to keep their marriage strong.Bicycling, touring, and Warmshowers have introduced Peter & Tracy to a different way of looking at the world. Their mission is to help others see the world as they do; through bicycle and pedestrian eyes.Five fun facts about Peter and Tracy:They tour exclusively on a tandem bicycle.Their first overnight stay was in Peter's brother's backyard, 60 miles from their home. They bicycle tour for both pleasure and business (We Bike Etc). They are still married. Ha!They wrote a successful book about their first cross-country trip, “Coast to Coast on a Tandem: Our Adventure Crossing the USA on a Bicycle Built for Two.” (Get it here)Learn more about Peter and Tracy on their website, We Bike Etc, and follow their blog. Building a meaningful business while living your best life and traveling the world is not easy. In this episode of Before IT Happened, our host Donna Loughlin tells the story of social entrepreneur and philanthropist Jamie Bianchini, who biked through over 80 countries around the world for eight years with a friend calling themselves the ‘Peace Pedalers.' Jamie's motto “Live big, give big” has had an enormous impact in communities from Asia to Latin America where he's helped build schools, start transportation projects and bring clean water to areas in need. Listen now and learn how this adventurer's entrepreneurial spirit found its spark in his love for humanity. Before any world-changing innovation, there was a moment, an event, a realization that sparked the idea before it happened. This is a podcast about that moment — about that idea. Before IT Happened takes you on a journey with the innovators who imagined — and are still imagining — our future. Join host Donna Loughlin as her guests tell their stories of how they brought their visions to life. JUMP STRAIGHT INTO: (01:20) - Jamie's story and the ups & downs of entrepreneurial life - “You can build a business around the lifestyle that you want to have. That's what I aspired to do, and that's still what I do to this day.” (05:44) - Traveling the world while trying to build a business - “I worked at a youth hostel in Switzerland that I modeled my business plan after which won Best Business Plan at USC.” (08:27) - Working to make Peace Pedalers a reality - “It was taking the tandem bicycle with an empty seat on the back of it and inviting total strangers to come on. That gesture of friendship and connection is the essence of Peace Pedalers.” (14:59) - Jamie's life-changing realization of wanting to help people - “Magical things happen when we don't just focus on ourselves, but we try to infuse some level of intention, contribution, and purpose in our lives above and beyond just achieving.” (18:53) - Getting the drive to keep going - “I pulled a two-peso note from my wallet, and somebody had written on the bill by hand a message in Spanish, ‘If love is your biggest weakness, you are the strongest person in the world.'” (22:18) - What's next for Jamie - “It's everybody's responsibility to pick our head up and see what we can do to help someone who's part of the human family who might not be as fortunate as us.” (24:50) - On Profit & Purpose: Jamie's new project in the social venture arena - “We help anybody who's purpose-driven or wants to be purpose-driven and make it easier for them to become even more impactful in their communities.” EPISODE RESOURCES: Connect with Jamie on https://twitter.com/JamieRBianchini (Twitter) and at https://jamiebianchini.com/ (Jamiebianchini.com) Learn more about Jamie's latest organization https://profitpurpose.org/ (Profit & Purpose) Watch Jamie's Tedx Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqnME0OQQ7A (Live Big, Give Big: Infinite possibilities powered by compassion) See Jamie's https://www.peacepedalers.com/route.html (original route for Peace Pedalers) Read Jamie's book: https://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-Built-Two-Billion-Compassion/dp/0996137203/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=a+bicycle+built+for+2&qid=1617900852&sr=8-8 (A Bicycle Built for Two Billion) Thank you for listening! HWWS WebTV Host and Award Winning Author & Journalist GW Pomichter interviews Scifi Actor & Stunt Woman Patricia Tallman. When she portrayed "Lyta Alexander" in the Hugo Award-winning sci-fi series Babylon 5 (1993), Patricia Tallman was the most powerful telepath in the universe. Seems fitting, considering that the actress knew she was going to be in show business at the early age of two. It was then that she first appeared with her father, Jerry, on his Midwest radio show, soloing on "Bicycle Built for Two".Pat relocated to Los Angeles , where she again worked with Romero on Creepshow 2 (1987). The film she is perhaps best known for followed: George Romero and Tom Savini's remake of the 1968 cult classic, Night of the Living Dead (1990). The move to L.A. was a smart one, Pat discovered, as she was soon cast as undercover cop "Christy Russell" on NBC's Generations (1993), and as an evil, sexy swashbuckler in the Ring of the Musketeers (1992). Other films include Sweet Justice (1992), Benefit of the Doubt (1993), Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999). Television shows include Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), Star Runner (1990) (A USA Network pilot), Dark Skies (1996), Babylon 5 (1993) and "The Universe and Harry Morgann" (an independent pilot).Pat's other projects include starring in the science-fiction thriller Never Die Twice (2001) and playing one of the leads, Lt. Richmond, in two audio plays, "Lives of the Cat" and "Anne Manx". In addition, her voice can be heard in the cartoon "Babylon 5" parodies Babylon Park: Frightspace (1999) and Grudge Match (2000). Equally important to Patricia are her roles of mother to son her Julian, as well as her fund-raising activities for the children of Penny Lane.Patricia Tallman On The Web:IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0848191/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PatriciaTallmanPageTwitter: https://twitter.com/patriciatallmanInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/patriciatallman.rocks/B5EventsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/B5Events.QuestRetreats

We are making moves and our now in the DOUBLE DIGITS of episodes! And our guest to celebrate it with us is Russ Hilton from Dunedin Bike Tours. You may have seen a man dressed in Orange standing with his bike in front of the Dunedin History Museum. Well that's our guest and he's here to tell you all about his tour. And he knows so much history about the town, he's been dubbed the 'Ambassador of Dunedin.' Russ tells us about his business, his life as an Elvis impersonation (yes we make him sing a song) and the sweetest story by far of why a person just knew that Dunedin was meant to be their home. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/meetusonmainstreet/support

History: In 2002, Jamie Bianchini set out on a tandem bicycle. Little did he know it would result in an inspirational 8 year, 81 country journey around the world. Dubbed "Peace Pedalers,” Jamie pedaled on the front seat while inviting total strangers to join the journey. These rides spawned new friendships and resulted in the launch of a dozen grassroots projects designed to give back to communities globally. During his travels he saw the dependency on kerosene as a light source and the negative health effects. Jamie’s adventure also inspired his latest endeavor, LuDela, the world’s smartest candle, which aims to bring better light and better lives around the world. The candle can be ignited with a smart app and produces a real flame, shuts off if tipped over and replaces the recent Led candles that don't look real. Ultimately Jamie will be donating some proceeds back to Africa with sola or lights to replace kerosene at home and at school. Jamie’s travels are chronicled in his book “A Bicycle Built for Two Billion,” a story about one man’s adventure around the world in search of love, compassion, and adventure. The Perfect Pillar is the world’s first remote-controlled real-flame scented candlelight fixture. Outfitted with cutting-edge technology, the Perfect Pillar offers a safer, smarter and more convenient scented candlelight experience. Key features of the LuDela Perfect Pillar include: Remote Ignite & Extinguish – Instant real flame ambiance with the touch of a button Tilt Extinguish™ – Flame self extinguishes when it tilts or falls Timer Extinguish™ – Increase safety and peace of mind with timed burns Everbrite Flame™ – Always burns bright like a new pillar candle Forever-New™ Décor – Always looks like a beautiful new candle Flex-Décor™ – Change the style or color of your decorative shell Caring Candle Refills™ – Simple, safer single use refills Scent-On-Demand™ – Add, change, remove scent on demand Flex-Fragrance™ – Dial the intensity of your fragrance up or down Mess & Hassle Free – No more wax mess or wick hassles LuDela’s Perfect Pillar luxury gift box starter kit is available now for holiday orders and shipping by December 6th for $129 at www.LuDela.com. Giving Back: But creating the “Perfect" candle is only part of LuDela’s mission. LuDela is using its smarter, safer candle innovation to enhance global education. For every LuDelacandle product sold, a book will be donated to bring libraries to underserved communities. Have you ever wondered why exactly that one cartoon was titled "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo"? No? Your curiosity notwithstanding, this week Luke and Evan return to recapping the gang's childhood adventures, and even come up with a very compelling theory that explains its name. Now granted, the two hosts also tiptoe around the fact that Shaggy's paperboy job appears to have broken a few child labour laws, but there wasn't enough time! They firmly believe in ethical job conditions for all, but also that their episodes shouldn't run longer than two hours.

Jamie Bianchini needed a lift. A big one. After a series of spectacular business flops drove him into bankruptcy and the love of his life kissed him goodbye, Bianchini knew he needed a world of help. But instead of seeking assistance from a counselor or support group, he sought comfort where he'd always found it…on his bicycle. As his world hit rock bottom, Bianchini hatched a crazy plan that just might make everything right. His life lacked purpose, passion, and connection with his fellow man. So Bianchini decided to go for a bicycle ride…around the world…on a tandem…solo…inviting everyone he met to join him for a spin. “A Bicycle Built for Two Billion” is the story of an audacious optimist who tried to change the world – while hoping the world would change him – one rider at a time.

At least three Kansas families have enjoyed this tandem bicycle. They all rode in the southern part of the state, where the land is flat but the wind is strong. Riding into a Kansas headwind makes any cyclist appreciate healthy lungs and sturdy legs.
