Talking Trash is a show to discuss movies that some people deem to be garbage, mediocre or just one that people never knew existed, we talk through the plot in spoiler fashion while asking "is this a bad movie?" And if not "what is the worst movie ever made?"It's July and we are watching movies that we discussed in a prior episode where Jo guessed the plots of Roger Corman produced 1980s films. First up is 1989s BloodFist. A movie starring Don Wilson as a fighter on the trail of his brother's killer, kind of. There's no business like show business, and Charlie Mattera knows it all too well. As we cozy up in our private lounge, we're swapping tales that traverse the spectrum of Hollywood life—from the shared ache of rejection to the warm buzz of camaraderie that fuels our creative fires. Our stroll down memory lane takes us back to the legendary Pro Gym, where stars like Cindy Crawford and Kate Beckinsale blended into the background, and to our cherished moments with the one-and-only Ryan O'Neal. Charlie's stories are not just fascinating on several levels,  but a testament to the genuine connections that weave through the tapestry of the movie industry.Sometimes life scripts a plot twist that even Tinseltown couldn't dream up. We sit with bated breath as we absorb the transformative journeys of redemption and reinvention. From a former inmate's candid account of his path to personal liberation to the mentorship found in the unlikeliest of places—a prison cell, we're reminded that it's never too late to rewrite your narrative. The raw emotion of these life lessons challenges our preconceived notions and celebrates the resilience of the human spirit. And lest we forget, we also uncover the magic of his first sold script—cue the drama of "Bloodfist III."Our lounge is echoing with laughter and poignant reflections as we wrap up an episode that's as multifaceted as the guests who grace our mic. We've felt the pulse of Hollywood's heartbeat, witnessed the towering strength of human transformation, and shared in the exhilarating rush of carving out success against all odds. Charlie's insights are as captivating as they are enlightening, offering a glimpse behind the curtain at the humanity that fuels the stars we admire. So draw the curtains, settle in, and prepare for a behind-the-scenes journey that's as authentic as it is inspiring. This is part 1 of Charlie Mattera's story. Thank you for stopping by. Don "The Dragon" Wilson is not the same guy as the first two or the last five movies. This time he's in prison and......oh sorry fell asleep. If you're searching for a thrilling martial arts experience, "Bloodfist III: Forced to Fight" ain't it. This lackluster sequel not only fails to capture the essence of its predecessors but falls flat on every front, from its uninspiring plot to its lackadaisical fight choreography. The storyline, if it can be called that, is a haphazard collection of tired tropes and predictable turns. Don "The Dragon" Wilson stars as the protagonist, but even his competent martial arts skills can't salvage the train wreck that is the script. The narrative lacks depth, originality, or any semblance of intrigue. It feels like a mishmash of recycled ideas from countless B-grade action films, making it painfully clear that creativity took a back seat during the writing process. The action sequences, touted as the film's main attraction, are a major letdown. The stunt work and fight choreography are downright boring and lack the finesse expected from a martial arts movie. The punches and kicks lack impact, and the overall flow of the action feels disjointed and uninspired. What should be the film's saving grace turns out to be its Achilles' heel, leaving the audience yearning for more engaging and dynamic fight scenes. Even Don "The Dragon" Wilson, a martial arts veteran with a commendable track record, fails to elevate the film. While he showcases his undeniable skills in various fight scenes, his charisma as a lead actor is sorely lacking. Wilson's performance feels wooden and uninspired, leaving the audience indifferent to the fate of his character. It's disappointing to see a competent martial artist reduced to a lackluster leading role that does nothing to showcase his true potential. In conclusion, "Bloodfist III: Forced to Fight" is a forgettable installment in the martial arts film genre. With a bland plot, uninteresting stunt work, and a lackluster lead performance, it fails to leave any lasting impression. Save your time and seek out more captivating martial arts movies that actually deliver on the promise of excitement and entertainment.

This week we are back to our Action roots and covering our 1st Don "The Dragon" Wilson flick in "Bloodfist V: Human Target." This movie has zero to do with the previous 4, but still gave us a lot to discuss. Bloodfist V is either the smartest movie ever written because of the big twist at the end or we are giving it too much credit. We talked Steve James, the lack of fight scenes, how amnesia could cure bad behavior, and lots more. Watch the unedited review at sequelsonly.com/Bloodfist5 The next sequel we are talking about is Blair Witch 2016 which was a touchstone film series for next week's guest Nathan Haugaard. Nathan grew up in Vancouver... Washington, not Canada. As a kid he grabbed a camera to film his buddies skating and the rest is history. He saw Blair Witch with his buddies and then started shooting horror. Nathan went to LA after High School and quickly worked with James Cameron and learned the ins and outs of 3-D. We talked about the best way to do 3-D, filming reality TV, the strike, and more. The concept that we’ve invented and trademarked, March Madness, continues as we keep on talking about fight tournament movies. This week we’re discussing a seminal work when it comes to buying Don “The Dragon” Wilson houses, the original BLOODFIST (1989). Some people might try to say that it’s just a second rate ripoff of every movie JCVD made but those people are what we call “virgins.” You don’t launch a franchise with 8 entries by accident just because you’re a karate guy who happened to meet Roger Corman.

When Chuck Norris convinced his martial arts buddy - the 11-time world kickboxing champion, Don "The Dragon" Wilson - to consider a career in the movies, he could never have dreamed how quickly his life would transform. A winning audition for the king of exploitation cinema, Roger Corman, led to a multi-picture deal which would see "The Dragon" become the leading martial arts movie star in the highly lucrative direct-to-video market of the late 1980s and 90s, headlining movies such as the Bloodfist series, Ring of Fire, Red Sun Rising and many others. His closest brush with mainstream stardom arrived in 1995, playing a gang leader in Batman Forever. He's still busier than ever in front of the camera. His latest movie - the action comedy Paying Mr McGetty - sees him play a hitman, and it is available now on DVD. Considered one of the best competitive kickboxers of his generation, Don - now in his mid-60s - may have hung up his competitive gloves long ago, but he can still be found training, teaching and passing on his martial arts wisdom at exhibitions around the world. He still believes passionately in the martial arts as a force for good, helping as a tool to teach confidence, respect and self-discipline to kids, as well as a way to stamp out bullying. It's something he knows only too well. As the son of Japanese and American parents who grew up in 1950s America shortly after the second world war, bullying was a word he knew only too well. In this conversation, Don explains how he turned a negative situation into a positive, becoming one of the greatest and most famous martial artists in the world. Keep up to date with the latest Don "The Dragon" Wilson news via his Facebook page.

Never the ones to rest on their laurels, an ensuing effort is put forth for your consideration. This second installment is sure to please as Peter takes the helm and dives into the “Bloodsport” double: “Bloodfist”. Starring 11-time professional kickboxing world champion Don “The Dragon” Wilson and produce by “B-Movie Baron” Roger Corman(you gotta love this guy), “Bloodfist” is more of a gateway film to the weird and obscure. Our daring duo offer everyone to sit back, relax and enjoy this discussion about a rather tame movie with blood in the title. Unquestionably, the greatest kickboxing champion of all time, Don “The Dragon” Wilson is the only kick-boxer to win 11 world titles in 3 weight divisions (light-heavyweight, super-light-heavyweight, and cruiserweight) and for 6 sanctioning organizations (WKA, STAR, KCIK ,ISKA, PKD, AND IKF). Along the way, he defeated 11 other world champions, 12 number-one contenders and 15 champions on 4 continents. Don’s impressive career record consists of 71 wins, 47 by knockout, and 6 by kick-knockout, and he was also the first kung-fu practitioner to become a World Kickboxing champion. In 1996, Don was named the Greatest Competitor of All Time by Kickside magazine-Europe. As Don’s phenomenal kickboxing career was winding down, he came to Hollywood at the suggestion of his friend and fellow martial artist, Chuck Norris. After hooking up with agent Ray Cavaleri (who is still his agent), Don got a national commercial, and a stint on the soap opera “General Hospital”. Shortly thereafter came a fateful audition with the legendary filmmaker Roger Corman, who had discovered such talents as William Shatner, Jack Nicholson, and Robert DeNiro. Corman was so impressed with Don’s kickboxing career and his natural charm, that he immediately signed him to a non-exclusive seven movie contract, and Don starred in the huge hit, “Bloodfist”. Since Don was still fighting, Corman actually once insured Don’s face for $10 million with Lloyd’s of London. Don has established himself as a hard working Hollywood action star, having starred in 29 films since his film career began in 1989. He has had as many as five films released within a fourteen month period. His most recent project is a movie entitled “Paying Mr. McGetty.”
