Dear Brown Skin Girl, Don't ever doubt your worth, For your beauty shines On every inch of this earth. “Trauma” means many things to many people. Mytrae Meliana is innately familiar with its myriad implications, having endured an indescribably abusive marriage, being subject to exile and house arrest in India by her own parents, and fighting against cultural and societal patriarchy to find her own voice. She captured her harrowing, and ultimately redemptive story in a memoir entitled Brown Skin Girl: An Indian American Woman's Magical Journey from Broken to Beautiful. Nikhil and Shelly spoke with Mytrae about her incredible story, which provides hope to many South Asian women who feel they are suffering in silence. She exudes light, wisdom, and quiet power in recounting her tale of triumph and healing, which now finds her as a holistic psychotherapist, trauma specialist, women's empowerment and Divine Feminine teacher, channel, award-winning author, musician, sound healer, and speaker in Portland, Oregon. Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12—the first three verses there—Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon---------------------------------------------------#face #instagram #amour #take #couple #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing

Mytrae is also the founder of Temple of Sound Healing, which teaches Sound Healing to Health and Wellness Practitioners and Social Justice Community Leaders. An immigrant from India, Mytrae shares her story of healing, empowerment, and awakening in her memoir: “Brown Skin Girl: An Indian-American Woman's Magical Journey From Broken To Beautiful”.    In this episode, Mytrae and I discuss: Seeking a way out in an abusive relationship How children are affected by abuse - signs to watch out for and how they may cope Knowing your rights as a human being The clash between individuality and family, culture and religion   Key Takeaways: Acknowledge when you discover that you're living a lie and letting your freedom be limited by other people - you have the capacity to break free and make it on your own, even if it doesn't feel like it.  It's important to explain sexual boundaries to your child; they might be getting abused but don't have the language to express to you what they're going through Own and proclaim your freedom, don't follow the train tracks of control and expectation, and build your own life. Your culture might tell you that God is angry at you or that you are bad, but there's never a moment that you're not loved by the Divine.   "Taking the baby steps when I couldn't chart out anything in my life was a way to crawl forward in my life… we're scared and daunted of what we have to do but take that one step… that's plenty. It's a way to build that muscle and move… you'll be stuck, unless you keep moving " —  Mytrae Meliana   Check out Mytrae's book, “Brown Skin Girl”, here: https://mytraemeliana.com/brown-skin-girl/     Connect with Mytrae Meliana: Twitter: https://twitter.com/mytraemeliana Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mytraemeliana/  Website: https://mytraemeliana.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mytraemeliana/    CONNECT WITH CYNTHIA: If you'd like to chat with Cynthia, sign up for your Personal Safety Preparedness Consultation with her today! He talks about how he has built up a community of collaborators over the years, who are also his greatest supporters and who help him in times of self-doubt.Ivan's experience is a great example of how to build a body of work within existing organisations and within new contexts that you create. His story is a testament to a two- way street that makes the best artists: when you learn from and pave the way for the artists around you, you develop yourself.Arts Work is brought to you by Sadler's Wells in association with Barclays Dance Pass. It's #InternationalWomensDay! We can't talk about strong women without talking about Beyoncé. It is a big week for  Beyoncé because she is leading the #Grammys nominations for this Sunday with nine. She is also nominated twice in the same category for Record of the Year which has only happened once before when Pharrell Williams was nominated seven years ago. This is also her 7th time being nominated in that category so she now ties Frank Sinatra for the most nominations for record of the year. Her husband isn't doing so bad either.  Jay-Z has three nominations, which puts him in a tie with Quincy Jones who has the most Grammy nominations in history and their daughter Blue Ivy received her first nomination for the music video for Brown Skin Girl and if she wins, she will become the youngest Grammy winner in history.  Beyoncé on Saturday posted a special video tribute to a young superfan who lost her battle with cancer. Lyric Chanel, who battled anapaestic ependymoma – a rare cancer of the central nervous system – died last Friday at 13. In a video featuring photos and video clips of Chanel, Beyoncé sings an a cappella medley of “Brown Skin Girl,” “Halo” and “Love on Top.” She finishes by saying “I love you with all of my heart.” #TaylorSwift has been announced as one of the performers for this Sunday's show. She was announced along side other major artists like Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Megan The Stallion, Cardi B and Doja Cat. She is also up for 6 awards including Album fo the Year for Folklore.  Alessia Cara is a woman that makes us proud to be Canadian. She made the country proud last night with her beautiful rendition of the national anthem ahead of the NBA All Star Game. Because of the pandemic she pre-recorded her performance in Toronto inside fo the Scotiabank Arena.  Someone who always reminds us not to give in to trolls is Lizzo, who responded to someone in an IG live about what it's like to be living as obese and she responded in a great way. Episode 12: Is Colorism still a thing or are we post-colorism? Well, the release of Beyonce's song "Brown Skin Girl" brought colorism to the surface again. It's always been there and has been almost like a dirty little family secret, but when that song came out it was on full display for all to see. Colorism is the perceived preferential treatment of lighter skinned Blacks based on their closeness to whiteness. Join Dr. Stephanie and Dr. Kimberly Moffitt who is an expert on this topic as they discuss this topic and how it can be a challenge to creating sustained, healthy sisterhood. As usual, we won't just expose the problems but also how we can overcome and continue to strengthen our sisterhood. Kimberly R. Moffitt (Ph.D., Howard University) is currently serving as interim dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at UMBC. Before assuming this role, she was director of the Language, Literacy and Culture doctoral program and a professor of communication/media studies, as well as affiliate professor of Africana Studies. A media critic whose research focuses on mediated representations of marginalized groups as well as the politicized nature of Black hair and the body, Dr. Moffitt has published several articles and book chapters, as well as five co-edited volumes, including Michelle Obama and the FLOTUS Effect: Platform, Presence, and Agency (Lexington Books, 2019), Gladiators in Suits: Race, Gender, and the Politics of Representation in Scandal (Syracuse University Press, 2019), Blackberries and Redbones: Critical Articulations of Black Hair and Body Politics in Africana Communities (Hampton Press, 2010), The Obama Effect: Multidisciplinary Renderings of the 2008 Campaign (SUNY Press, 2010) and The 1980s: A Transitional Decade? (Lexington Books, 2011).
