La 30a edició del Manga Barcelona obre les seves portes fins diumenge a la Fira Gran Via en una cita multitudinària. La cita amb el món del manga tindrà com a gran protagonista Naoki Urasawa, el popular autor japonès dels manga ‘Monster', 'Master Keaton', ‘20th Century Boys' i ‘Pluto', qui és el convidat d'honor del Manga Barcelona d'enguany. L'esdeveniment compta també amb noms com Takeshi Kawaguchi, Yuki Tabata, Yuka Fujikawa i Mengo Yokoyari. En total hi haurà 300 expositors i desenes de convidats en una cita que tindrà música, cosplay, exposicions i que estrena mascota: l'Onachan.

Title card be damned. And it's extra good news because this is a fun one. We got to chat with my pal Deniz Camp about his new ULTIMATES comic for Marvel Comics and a bunch of other stuff. If you've never read any of Deniz's work I'd urge you to go grab 20th CENTURY MEN with Stipan Morian and Aditya Bidikar.It truly is a fascinating, powerful, and dense book that doesn't quite read like anything else out there. A story about wars- cold, hot, and super-powered. But it is also a story about giving yourself over to something bigger than yourself, about questioning the world and your place in it, about faith, about loyalty, and about man's inhumanity to man and our complicity in all of it. It's not one you just read lightly. And Stipan's art is one of the great joys in comics these last few years. So go to your local comic shop and grab a copy. Also grab all of 20th CENTURY BOYS by Naoki Urasawa. It's unrelated but it's so damn good.Anyway, enjoy the podcast and send some love to Ethan and Griffin today. They could use it.That's it for me. The real problem for many today is not ADD; it is, rather, what Headmaster Alvaro de Vicente refers to as IDD: intimacy deficit disorder. This problem is even worse for men, who on average have fewer close friends. Studies indicate that the percentage of males who report having at least six close friends has been cut in half since the 1990s. There is, it would seem, a recession in male friendships. While there is no easy panacea for this problem, as with most things, one's education can have a lasting impact on how a child learns—or doesn't learn—to relate to others.  This week we feature a recording of the annual Headmaster's Lecture titled “Friendship and the 21st-Century Boy.” In the lecture, Alvaro discusses what friendship is and how to help children—and young boys, in particular—foster healthy friendships. He discusses contemporary obstacles to friendship and why growth in maturity is necessary for true, deep, and lasting friendships. In a recent national survey of adults in America, a striking sixty-one percent of young adults (age 18-25) reported feeling serious loneliness. Such feelings of loneliness were also accompanied by anxiety and depression. Although humans are by nature social animals, it would seem that forming deep friendships may not always come so naturally. How do we form friendships? How do we help our sons form friendships? What even is friendship? To help us answer these questions, we welcome to HeightsCast John Cuddeback, professor of philosophy at Christendom College and Life Craft writer and speaker. In this episode, Professor Cuddeback helps us understand what friendship is, how to practice the art of friendship, and how friendship goes hand-in-hand with happiness. As he explains, friendships do not merely happen. Rather, they require intentional cultivation and sustained effort. Indeed, like any art, the art of friendship requires discipline and practice.
