On this episode we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mad Max: Fury Road - Black and Chrome Edition. Often considered the greatest action film of all time, Fury Road reintroduced the world to Max, this time played by Tom Hardy, as he teams up with Furiosa to take on the dystopian warlord Immortan Joe. George Miller's stated intention was to make a movie that was one long chase, and as elemental and close to a silent film as possible. The Black and Chrome Edition brings this vision even closer.Other topics include Charlize Theron, George Miller's filmography and how Babe: Pig in the City fits in, America's obsession with celebrity culture, Warren Zevon's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Riot Fest, and whether or not we should cover The Beaver with Mel Gibson on the podcast.Songs of the WeekLet Them Eat War by Bad ReligionKurt Kobain by ProofBrothers In Arms by Junkie XLRemainders Jukebox PlaylistWebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTubeTwitter

We are back for PART 2 of our Chloe x Halle “Ungodly Hour” journey. In this episode, Angie (@poetrysoul3) and Steffi (@inn_mho) break down the era! At the top, and how apropos to our Chloe x Halle episodes, we share our thoughts on The Little Mermaid teaser trailer. #OURARIEL #TEAMHALLE In our Era Breakdown episodes, we touch on so many topics like career context, controversies/scandals of the era, marketing, music videos, live performances, album stats, and the album & era's ultimate impact and legacy. For this episode, we talk about how the era of social media and 2020 (WOOF) impacted the Ungodly Hour rollout. Despite Covid limitations, Chloe and Halle stood out from their musical peers with their innovative virtual performances and hilarious & oftenly awkward “Ungodly Hour Tea” time sessions. We also discuss the Diggy/ “Busy Boy” conspiracy and get into the benefit and downside of being Beyoncé's protégés. Again, this is part 2 of the conversation! So make sure you listen to part 1 where we discussed the album track by track. We hope you enjoyed our Chloe x Halle “Ungodly Hour” journey! This episode also marks the end of our Girl Group Divas Summer journey! What was your favorite girl group that we covered this summer? Album Info: Ungodly Hour is the second studio album by American R&B duo Chloe x Halle. It was released through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records on June 12, 2020. Originally scheduled for June 5, the album's release was delayed as a gesture of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and the global protests following the murder of George Floyd. The album was supported by the singles "Do It", "Catch Up", and "Forgive Me", the former of which became their most successful song to date. A reissue of the album entitled the "Chrome Edition" was released on February 26, 2021.*Email us for show notes: divadailiespod@gmail.com*Twitter & Instagram: @divadailiespod*YouTube: Diva Dailies PodcastSTEFFI'S SOCIAL MEDIA:*Twitter & Instagram: @inn_mho*YouTube: innmyhumbleopinionANGIE'S SOCIAL MEDIA:*Twitter: @poetrysoul3*YouTube: Sleepy Nerd ProductionsTIME STAMPS:- Housekeeping (01:05)- Our thoughts on The Little Mermaid Teaser (02:33)- Listener Feedback: (07:04)Era Breakdown (11:55)- Pop Corn & Pop Stars (12:58)- Spill the Technicolor Tea (19:18)- But We Need the Audience to Buy the Album (37:03)- Video Killed the Radio Star (54:45)- The Mic Is On (64:51)- Show Me the Receipts (74:32)- Impact/ Closing Thoughts (76:55)- Rapid Fire Question Round: Girl Group Divas Edition (80:03)- Preview Next Week's Episode (87:34)

Chay discusses how the desaturation of a film highlights its formal excellence.
Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan have moved on to begin their appreciation of 2016 Peter Berg by reviewing his latest film, Patriots Day. Starring Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman and Kevin Bacon, the film looks at the events of the Boston marathon bombing and takes a procedural look at how those responsible were brought to justice. Hear us discuss the rise of Peter Berg as the new Clint Eastwood and why Berg has become a director that we have both learned to love. There isn't much news this week so we mainly just take a look at the Golden Globe winners to see how much we disagree with those. On top of that, there are finally some Criterions to talk about for new releases. Dylan also saw Fences, Hidden Figures, and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. And Chris saw The Hollow Point and Mad Max Fury Road: Black & Chrome Edition. But what is most important is that next week we'll be talking about our first highly anticipated film of 2017 - xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. That's right, welcome to the first round of Vin Diesel's domination of 2017.

Abrams. Durante le pause di «Guerre stellari». Già questo è fantastico.

I know I said I wouldn't be back until after the 4th, but it's holiday time here in the US and what good would it be if you didn't at least have something new from me for your extended weekend? As you can see, I'm trying something different with the titles. Going forward, I'll be changing the titles up and matching it with its corresponding edition so you know what to expect. The Original Edition (Pride, Summer, Autumn, etc.) will remain the same and I haven't decided if I'm going to change the Chrome Edition either. BPM and T-Dance will definitely be getting re-tagged. You also might notice the cover art isn't flowing with my standard BPM Editions, however these wallpapers I grabbed from Out & About Las Vegas were just too perfect to not use. You'll find that there is a storyline. First, he (hottie in the picture) gets ready for the evening. The second cover will be him meeting someone and the third, well I'm pretty sure you can guess what happens. Don't worry mom and dad, it's PG-13 and pretty darn clever if you ask me. Kicking things into gear, Timbaland and Justin work out the Carry Out. Considering I wasn't feeling the last two Timbaland singles with Justin and another with Nelly, I think it's the kick-ass Chew Fu remix that makes this song. Keeping the energy tight is Elevated, the latest featuring the I'm Your Goddess, Tara McDonald. The Morgan Page remix of Fantasy by Nadi Ali is a progressive workout that stands equal to the trance version I featured a while back. Daruso has been riding high with Since You Been Gone, so I took on the Buzz Junkies production, which was the least commercial of the bunch. This is followed by some serious Miami house and great vocals before tempering down a bit with a classic remake, Do For Love, a rework of the old Bobby Caldwell Top 40 hit What You Won't Do For Love from 1979. This is one of my top ten all-time favorite songs, so I was definitely interested to see what Vinny and Jaidene did with it. Out of all the mixes that accompanied the track, Dave Aude won hands down. Instead of trying to make it into some big electro number, Dave takes us down the road of smooth and easy progressive without going all over the place. If there were ever a nice update of this song 30 years later, this would be it. In keeping with the momentum, The Temper Trap deliver their latest Love Lost. I have to admit I am blown away by this song. The soulful vocals sound very much like Roland Gift of Fine Young Cannibals fame. While this isn't going to light up any dance floors, the Rollo & Sister Bliss mix is perfect for poolside parties. Another fabulous summer song, I've been all over lately is Mark Picchiotti and Sun Drae's Let the Music Guide You. This is absolutely beautiful and perfect for summer. Expect a funkier version to make an appearance on the upcoming Beach House 2010. I realize many of you may be scratching your heads about what's next, but you gotta give Enrique his due. Since he crossed over in 1999, he's done a fantastic job of keeping his ears on the floor, the dance floor that is. All of his songs are accompanied by amazing remixes by some of the top talents of the moment. In this case, Avicii has been ultra hot lately, with his big room progressive productions. That's why I also paired I Like It with Rhythm Master's I Feel Love. It seems to me I had a remake of this Donna Summer classic sung by a guy last year, but I can't find it. That version was a dead-on turn of the original. This version, however, does a complete 360 from the original by dropping the familiar pulsating synth originally performed by Giorgio Moroder. I'm a huge fan of Donna and the original, but I am equally impressed with this whole new perspective of a classic disco song. For the GaGa monsters, I added one of the three Monster mixes that I showcased in my recent G-Spot. DJ Oskar does a kick-ass progressive mash-up that fits the song so perfectly, as well as this set,

Surprise! Surprise! Going Forward, the Millennium Edition will be rolled into the Chrome Edition. By doing this, I won't have to limit myself to a decade and will be able to grab whatever I'm feeling at any given moment. As such, I've decided to delay the release of the next couple of volumes until next week and replace this weeks post with T-Dance. I don't think most if any of you will mind. In other news, there are even bigger things coming to Party Favorz in the near future. Mainly, I've decided to give the BPM Edition its own platform. The numbers for that series are quite high and I believe that it can sustain its own site. Think of it as one of your favorite characters from a sitcom that leaves the show for a spin-off of that same character. BPM is still going to be around, it's just going to have its own home. For the premium subscribers that have been with me since February and even those that recently signed up, I'll be sending each of you an email in the near future with an added bonus for your support. When you get something from me, I highly suggest you read it and not delete it. I won't be fielding questions regarding the change after it goes into effect. I don't want to get too bogged down in this post as I fear many of you have ADD and will just skip to the bottom anyway LOL. I can't blame you, I have a tendency to ramble in my posts, so I just wanted to stay on point and keep everyone abreast of the new changes coming soon. I'll be back on Friday or Saturday with part 2. Until then, enjoy! Surprise! Surprise! Going Forward, the Millennium Edition will be rolled into the Chrome Edition. By doing this, I won't have to limit myself to a decade and will be able to grab whatever I'm feeling at any given moment. When I was a kid, I used to mow lawns for money to pay for my records. I never received an allowance and my dad wouldn't pay me to mow the lawn (though I still had other chores), so I started mowing all the neighbor's lawns. I charged $10 a job unless they had an extra-large yard, in which case the rate was $20. Every weekend, I would hop on my bike with the money I had earned and ridden several miles to the nearest record store to buy the latest 45's. Much like my willingness to bike several miles for my music, to this day, my dedication and passion for music have never faltered. I've always paralleled music to various points in my past. The good, the bad and the so-so, music is like a soundtrack to my life. The first time I kissed a girl, the first time I kissed a boy (and liked it), when my brother died, when I went off to college, it's all there like a bad episode of "Cold Case." You may be asking yourself, why the heck is he talking about "when he was a kid?" I'm glad you asked. With four more sets to go, I HIGHLY recommend that you take these mixes and back them up somewhere for future enjoyment. I promise you, 10, 15, 20 years from now, you'll want to dig them out and remember the time you were fierce, flawless and on top of the world. Maybe 2009 was the year you came out of the closet, maybe it was the year you fell in and out of love or even the year you lost your job. Whatever the reason, you'll dance, you'll sing and will be telling your friends "remember when music was good." I realize that everyone thinks I'm the energizer bunny, but I won't be here forever, nor will these time capsules of your life, unless you save them. It's entirely up to you, but I would certainly trust me on this one. I also thought that now would be a good time to talk about the "Gay Anthems" four mix set I put out last November. If you remember, the proceeds from these kick-ass mixes were to go to Equality Across America. This organization is leading the fight to garner equal rights for the LGBT community here in the US. If anybody here follows Towleroad, you'll understand the bigotry and hatred that is spewed against us from various groups, including our very own representatives in the United States Congress. Winning (as if this is a game) my equal rights along with every other gay, lesbian, bi or transsexual person, for now, and future generations is something that I am deeply passionate about. In fact, if we don't start receiving some serious concessions from our government, I see this heading to the streets of America in the very near future. Mind you, not the bread crumbs that President Obama keeps throwing out to keep us placated, but outright full equality in life, work, home, health and yes marriage. We won't stop until we are given FULL EQUALITY with equal protection under the Constitution. The good news is that with your help, I have officially reached my goal of $500. In fact, I just tallied up the donations this morning and we currently stand at $530.91. WooHoo!!! I will officially be making a donation in that amount on Wednesday this next week. However, if you haven't had a chance to download these great mix sets, never fear. I have added a link to the side of my blog titled "Gay Anthems" and a tab at the top of my Podbean page for easy access to all of the mixes. I also went back and placed an "add to cart" button so you can purchase everything all at once. If we can push this thing over $600 by next week, that would be SUPER- DUPER FABULOUS! I want to thank everyone that has contributed to my efforts to give back the only way I can at the moment. Let's keep it going! I also have other plans for future donations that include my Chrome Edition. I was looking at Billboard's "Best of the 2000s" in the Dance/Club Play category and was pretty much appalled. It starts out decent enough, but once you get into it, it's pretty shameless. As someone who has followed the charts all of my life,

I guess I should stop making promises for a certain date, as things inevitably come up. At least I'm only a day late with plenty of time before Halloween and Pride (for the ATL) this weekend. Anywho, let's get down to it. This particular mix is decidedly more circuit oriented with lots of big room beats to spread around. One of my big favorites of the moment is the Simone Denny and Barry Harris collaboration "Drama Queen." Ooh, did I just write Barry Harris? You bet! The former half of Thunderpuss has now returned from exile with his guns blazing! One of the things I didn't get around to mentioning in the recent Chrome Edition 2003, was that 2003 was the year Thunderpuss split, despite the fact that the TP franchise was still very much in demand by artists and club-goers around the globe. Both Barry and Chris gave separate interviews to About.com in 2004 which cover their early years and how Thunderpuss came about down to their amicable split in 2003. Fast forward to 2009, and Barry's back with "Drama Queen" a ripping track where circuit meets 80's electronica. This is a hot original production from Barry that attempts to break up the monotony of many of today's circuit tracks. While the actual song doesn't cover any new territory, it's familiar theme rings well with the gay crowd; but it's the actual production that people will be shaking too. I'm hoping this isn't a one-off and that we'll be getting even more from Barry in the near future. For now, all I want to say is "welcome back Barry, we missed you!" I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to my new favorite producer Matt Moss from New York. A graphic designer by day (he's gotta pay the bills) and producer/DJ/remixer the rest of the time, like many of us, Matt has been hit by the recession. Matt approach's each production based on what the song requires rather some cookie cutter formula where you just slap on the vocals over the same basic beats like many other producers do (without mentioning names). It's his unique style and unquestionable understanding of his craft that makes him a surefire bet for success. I've included two of his mixes in this set. The first "Wendy Williams Theme" an ode to the infamous gossip talk trash radio host, which is nothing short of pure fun! The second mix is Madonna's "Like a Virgin" which he has completely re-worked from top to bottom making this a welcome addition to the upcoming Pride festivities this weekend in the ATL. Matt seems to think these are not his best work, and maybe not (I haven't had the chance to listen to everything), but they are outstanding productions that are sure to move the boys on any dancefloor from coast to coast. You can check out Matt's work on his blog at mattmossforever.com. Make sure to drop him a note, especially if you pick up anything for use in your own sets. I promise you, he's a really nice guy without the attitude and like most of us would love to have some feedback about his work. Finally, you may have noticed an Eagles song in the track list. Last year's Halloween Edition included the memorable remake of the Ministry classic "(Every Day Is) Halloween" by Dangerous Muse. I didn't really have anything that would fit for this year's gay ghouls and goblins, but when I recently came across Alex Dubbing's rework of "Hotel California" I knew this was an absolute must. Check out the lyrics and you'll understand why: Mirrors on the ceiling, The pink champagne on ice And she said, we are all just prisoners here, of our own device And in the master's chambers, They gathered for the feast The stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before Relax, said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, But you can never leave! And that's my wrap-up for the week. I'm going to be super busy the next two or three...

T.G.I.T.!!! It's Thursday and for many of you the end of your work week. As we gear up for the extended holiday break, I wanted to ensure that you had all of your party favorz prior to hitting the road for your final destination to whatever event you're attending. In keeping with the first two mixes, I'm serving up some serious circuit havoc. While there are several notable songs in this set, I wanted to take a moment and point out two of them. First, our very own Mikey Cee from down under turns in what I guess is his very first mix with Larry T & Princess Superstar's "Licky." Frankly, I received this on promo several months ago and took a pass on it, only because I wasn't feeling the electro mixes that accompanied it. I have to say that Mikey has hit a home run his first time out. Basically, he's turned this "where's the hook" mess into a ball of thumping fun suitable for any dancefloor. In fact, I bumped Beyonce for his mix, so that should say a lot. Make sure you go over to his Facebook fan page and give him a pat on the back for a job well done. Hopefully, this is a sign of bigger things for to come. The other song I wanted to point out is the brand spanking new Ron Perkov tune "Miss You." Personally, I think he and Tony have really turned this one out. In fact, the entire release is just amazing! Not only do you get the ultra hot Moran and Rigg remix, but remixes by Manny Lehman, Mike Rizzo, Twisted Dee and DeMarko! With a line up like that, it's hard to miss. Currently "Miss You" is available exclusively through Masterbeat. That's pretty much all I have for everyone. Remember, I've got my surgery next Tuesday and this site will have some down time before posting picks up again, at least for mixes. As promised, I'll get out the 2003 Chrome Edition and most likely the next BPM Edition sometime during the month. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and I'll catch everyone in a few. Until then.you know what to do, ENJOY! As you can probably see, this is not the 2003 Chrome Edition I had previously promised. My BPM folder was filling up fast and I decided I might as well get this knocked out before I get backed up. I'm anticipating a mid-September release for the next Chrome Edition. Once again, I did not have enough material to comprise another T-Dance mix, so I went ahead and incorporated several of the funkier numbers in with this mix. Frankly, I think this may very well be the way this series moves in the future. Since discontinuing the System Edition, I've been incorporating several of those songs into this series and now some of the funkier songs usually reserved for the T-Dance mixes coupled with the electro-pop stuff that was so prevalent in the past. In all honesty, I think this just makes more sense. If I had to call this and it's accompanying mix anything, I would call it "house music for grown-ups that still enjoy pop tarts".LOL! If anything, it provides the listener with an eclectic musical experience without getting too monotonous. Every song over the course of these two mixes was specifically picked because they moved me one way or another. I can honestly say, no filler here, not even to help me transition out of a song to get on with the mix. As usual, there are standouts that most people are going to gravitate towards, so let me help you out. Starting with the return of Moony best known for her early millennium #1 hits Dove (I'll Be Leaving You) and Point of View with DJ Boulevard and the underground classic He's All I Want with Angelmoon, she delivers another dark slice of heaven with I Don't Know Why. While the Jerome Ism-ae mix, which appeared on BPM v5 is darker and more progressive befitting the actual meaning of the song, Viale & DJ Ross take it in a sunnier direction and smother it with a killer piano hook that just makes you feel good no matter the lyrical content. Another killer is newcomer Ameerah's The Sound of Missing You. Though this song appeared in an earlier BPM edition (I think the spring), it's just now getting added to the Promo Only set for September. With it's pulsating synths that are heavily influenced by the Don Henley classic The Boys of Summer, I expect this will be in heavy rotation at radio if it already isn't. Then there are the electro-pop darlings like Pixie Lott and Mini Viva already receiving a lot of buzz from sites like Arjan Writes, Electroqueer and Popjustice who deliver perfectly delectable slices of retro heaven on Boys and Girls and the outstanding Left My Heart in Tokyo. In particular, Pete Hammond who apparently has come out of retirement made two solid mixes for Mini Viva; one more contemporary for today's dance floors and another 80's throwback very similar to his work with SAW (Stock, Aiken & Waterman) which is just as much fun as the latter. The Bassmonkeys return with In the Moment featuring the awesome dance floor veteran and diva extraordinaire Abigail Bailey. Currently sitting at the top of XpressBeats' Most Wanted Chart, this is a surefire funky house pleaser. After last year's successful Ride My Tempo proving she's not just a one-hit wonder, Ida Corr returns with I Want You. No doubt the Funkerman mix will have you guys shaking your asses through the fall. Another big one to watch out for is 5th place Eurovision contestant Jade Ewen. Her first single My Man is blowing up on both sides of the aisle and well on it's way to a club floor near you. Finally, we have the return of the always fabulous Vanessa Williams, who just put out her first full-length studio album in four years. Jam packed with amazing remixes including Soul Seekerz and Ralphi Rosario, I expect The Real Thing to do very well in the clubs. For now, I'm delivering the breezy samba take by the Seekerz which further prove their own prowess and why I'm a huge fan of theirs. Maybe it's time for me to add them to the Catching Up With series, we'll see. Well,

Well,
The 5th edition of the BPM series consisting of two very long podcasts will be made available all at once later this afternoon. This has been a long and grueling summer and frankly, I need a break. I don't have it in me to create my usual post. I've included the track listing for each set below, so you have a pretty good idea what's contained in each podcast. I plan on taking most of August off, though I may pop in later in the month with the 2003 Chrome Edition or maybe just the Mariah Diva Series I had previously promised. I can't say for sure. I'm starting to have some normalcy around the house as Rick's condition has improved markedly. A couple more weeks of dialysis and he should be back at work, right around the time I have my operation. I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer mixes I've been putting out and you can expect more going into the fall, but with a more restrained release schedule. I fully anticipate having the Fall Edition out sometime around Labor Day. Atlanta has brought back Pearl Days at Six Flags (Think of it like Gay Days at Disney) which is on September 11th - 13th and should be a lot of fun, assuming I'll be up and about at that time. So make the best of the remaining weeks of summer and I'll soon be back in the saddle whipping it out! Until then...Enjoy! Moving along to the second set of the latest BPM Edition, I held to my promise of infusing some more prog tunes into the mix. If you remember a while back, I made the decision to cancel the System Edition and in its place I would be mixing in some of the underground house into this series to make up for the loss. Frankly, I think it works quite well and prevents this series from being too 'poppy' and gives it a more serious undertone. Granted, you still have your mainstream electro and funky house but the addition of the progressive tracks not only gives it more meaning but prevents everything from sounding too mundane. First up I've got the ultra hot Livvi Franc "Now I'm That Bitch" which is a big mainstream electro track that will rock your house! Also be on the lookout for the equally fabulous Kaskade mix of this song. Then there's "Boom" by Anjulie which doesn't really need a mention since it's already number one on the Billboard Club Chart but was something that wasn't in my grubby little hands at the time my last BPM mix came out. You also have the Freestylers doing their own take of the massive chart-topper "Word Up" by Cameo from the eighties. Don't worry, this has all new lyrics and Bimbo Jones strayed from the original version but left just enough so you know where it's coming from. However, if you prefer the breakbeat tempo of the original, they have a club mix that's sure to suit your taste. Another eighties gem is Simply Red's "Money's 2 Tight to Mention" which is just as pertinent now as it was back in the day. Seamus Haji works this puppy out and I expect it to do very well on the floors over the next several months. Since we're in the mood for remakes, why not Sono's classic "Keep Control" which the original just appeared on my 2001 Chrome Edition. This time, Fedde Le Grand has the honors and takes the original up several notches for an ear-pleasing workout. Keeping in the remake theme, I also closed this mix out with Richard Grey's take on Daft Punk's 2000 worldwide smash "One More Time" which simply updates the original for today's electro crowd while keeping all the uplifting and fun elements intact. In the same mode, we get Lissat & Voltaxx's "Release Yourself" which scoops up the classic beats of Armand Van Helden's "You Don't Know Me", something that has already been done earlier this year not once but twice in a more prog style. This go-around, they add lyrics ensuring a hands in the air crowd pleaser. I also managed to work in a little electro-salsa with Jeremy Sylvester and Socafrica's "Hot 4 U" which practically begs you to dance. Sorry, you just don't have any choice with this one. Finally, the one everyone's been waiting for "Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)" by Freemasons and Sophi Ellis-Bextor. This is the lead single off of the Freemason's upcoming Shakedown 2 album on June 29th and has already generated positive buzz across the Atlantic. Expect to be hearing this and the subsequent remixes all summer long! That's about it for today. I'm putting some finishing touches on the third set and will have that out for you guys tomorrow. Until then.enjoy! Update: After having the chance to listen to this mix in full last night, I decided to swap out the Bimbo Jones mix of "Push Up Word Up" with the club mix. Additionally, I made a few minor enhancements to the mix. I just received some last-minute songs for the Chrome Edition and decided to push that off until next week. I'm guessing there will be about five maybe six mixes for that set, so I'll most likely start rolling them out on Monday or so. In the meantime, I received a suggestion to add Annie to the Diva Series, which I thought was a wonderful idea. I had forgotten that she recently released her greatest hits; probably because I had long since created my own best of with the songs I wanted. Anyway, I knocked this one out fairly quickly and am very pleased as will most Annie fans. While doing some research I came across this interview she did for Queerty that I thought was interesting. In particular, her response to the last question gave me pause: Legendary singer Annie Lennox sat down with HX's Trenton Straube for a little pre-album release heart-to-heart. Before the girls ended their chat, Trent had one last, pressing question: You know I really adore Annie, but I thought this was a little off-putting. After all, this coming from a woman who catapulted the whole gender identity issue into the mainstream and has undergone a series of personality changes with each subsequent album release. Vacuous indeed, but that's what we love about you! When I was a kid my mom used to beat down my door while I blasted my stereo to the Pretenders and Eurythmics yelling "turn that shit down" all the while I was happily bouncing around my room like a wild child. I'm sure she thought I was on drugs. Frankly, you don't need to be on anything in order to enjoy your favorite artist on the dancefloor. Dance remixes are not void of intelligence or expression. Instead, think of them as an extension of enjoying an artists' work you want to dance to in the clubs. Maybe it's the age factor that prevents her from understanding the value of her own work remixed for the same audience and extends itself to reach even more. There is a definite value that even her label boss and friend Clive Davis understood. It's a shame she can't see the magic in this artistry. TS: One last subject: dance mixes. You music has always been a staple on the dance floor. And you have remixes already slated for the single "Sing." You said you collaborate with art directors. Do you also work with the DJ's and producers on the remixes? AL: I'm going to be brutally honest here. I find a lot of it totally vacuous. People say you've got to have taken a lot of drugs before you "get it." I'm pretty sure that you have to take a lot of drugs. What kind of drugs are you gay guys taking? Would you like that list alphabetically or in order of appearance. Oh well. Annie, we love you anyway! I'm guessing it will be quite a while before I do another System Edition since I have other things on tap for May. This final set takes a decidedly different approach to yesterday's lush and atmospheric mix. In fact, I'd say that this is more alternative and experimental underground house than anything else. Granted, the hooks are there, but sometimes you need to look for them. Don't expect a lot of vocals in this set either. To me, this is as cold and electronic as it can get. Granted, I have to be in the mood for these types of songs, and last night I guess I was because I was just rocking out to the beats. I've got a lot going on today so I'm not going to spend any time discussing the songs on the mix. Suffice to say that it may not be for everyone. However, if you enjoy quirky beats without the dreamy landscape, this one is definitely for you! In my previous post I mentioned that I was not happy with the way the second set came out and that after further listening, the problem was with many of the songs. I just wasn't feeling much of it. So, I took the first set and dropped a few songs and the second set and dropped many more, then combined the mixes. That's how it will stay in my library. I'll be happy to post it tomorrow if I receive enough requests, otherwise, I'll just leave everything as is and start working on the next Chrome Edition 2002. After more rain and thunderstorms last night, it looks like today is going to be a gorgeous day. In fact, we're now starting to see temperatures climb into the mid-80s and today is going to be a scorcher. Frankly, I welcome the warm-up but will be bitching about the heat and longing for fall by August…LOL. I know, finicky bitch. I also have a couple of reminders: 1) If you haven't signed up for my Facebook Fan Page yet, please go over there and do that now. It's not finished yet, but should be by the weekend. I plan on running contests from there and not this site, that will be strictly for the fans. So if you don't want to miss out…2) I'm calling all fans of Kristine W to submit your questions. I'll be interviewing her next month and would like to get every fan the opportunity to ask a question. You can either leave your question in the comments section of this post or email me at kjamproductions@gmail.com. Make sure you leave your first name, city, and state, so I know who to attribute the question to during the interview process. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend. It's the weekend…yeah! I'm serving up the final installment of SEv2 and this does not disappoint. Eclectic is best used to describe this mix. Whether it's the hard-hitting funky electro of Herve (Mars), the 80s throwback of Muddyloop (Flight Night), the all too important massive party favor by Faithless (Music Matters), the Indie inspired “No Turning Back” by Gui Boratto or the re-working of the classic “Adagio For Strings” by DJ Yvan, everything fits tidily in this mix and flows from one joint to the next with utter ease. If you enjoy solid underground house, this is not to be missed. After having been spoiled with some amazing Spring weather, crappy weather has pretty much settled into the ATL for the next few days. The cold and rain are enough to put a damper on life, but I won't let it get me down. Why? Because I know sunshine days are around the corner; giving me something to look forward to. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and I'll be back this coming weekend with the next installment of the Classix Edition now called the Chrome Edition. Until then…ENJOY! Those of you that follow this edition may be asking yourself...volume 7? Thanks to our good friend Klaus a.k.a. DJ K-Os who pointed out that I skipped volume 7 and went straight to 8 & 9, I decided to correct that. Granted, it jumps out of place, but better late than never. If you're looking for the more progressive version of the Deep series, this ain't it. I decided it was time to go back to the dark side. No, not the "Luke come over to the dark side" rather some deeper house music, which is what this series was originally intended to be. I'm thinking that I may rename all of the series in 2009. For instance, Electro-Funk will be called the 'BPM Edition', Progressive the "System Edition', Classix the 'Chrome Edition', Deep the 'Chill Edition' and the circuit mixes will remain the same. I haven't come up with a name for the 'House Edition' yet only because all of the aforementioned represent a dance station on XM Satellite radio and there isn't one for just good ole house music. This is tentative, so don't hold me to it. However, if you like the idea, let me know. Rather than go all doom and gloom on this mix, I purposely changed it up a bit. The first mix has a lot more color with a few sprinkles of gray dropped into the mix, while the second mix is primarily gray tones with a few colorful spots to round it out. When I say gray, I actually mean deep house and colorful is closer to good old fashioned soulful house. As the days get cooler and darker (as it has been for several days around here) I don't want to send anyone (muchless myself) into an early holiday depression, so I thought I'd mix it up a bit in case the grayer tones of deep house start to bring you down. Actually, I finished this up pretty quick last week and have been enjoying it since the weekend at home and in my car. So, please give some feedback if you like the direction I took this time. In other news, I want to thank everyone that responded to my call for 'guest DJs'. I have to say, I was a bit shocked, if not overwhelmed. What you can expect between now and the end of November are a variety of outstanding mixes by DJs all across the globe. From the U.S., UK, Australia and Germany I pretty much have it covered. Some of you are up and coming, others have been successfully working it for a long while now, others have their own radio show and another already has management, complete with headshots and a brand new album about to drop. How cool is that? All I can say is welcome to the Party Favorz family! I will be more than happy to promote you and your work over the next couple of months. At this time, I will have to decline any further requests to join as I'll be doubling down on the posts starting in October. Don't worry, I've got something really big by the end of the year that I'll announce at a later date. What I will say is that it will allow everyone to participate and share their mixes, their ideas, perspectives, tips and tricks. Stay tuned. In the meantime, just sit back and enjoy the sounds of the underground. I'll be back tomorrow with Take 2 of this mix. Enjoy! I probably haven't mentioned much about my computer lately, so let me tell you what I've been up to. As everyone knows, I suffered a significant loss in pictures, music and important documents last year before having the chance to back everything up. Once I rectified that, I began purchasing parts each month for my computer. By April, I broke the bank and went all out to fill in the missing pieces. The only things I recycled were the two DVD drives and my monitor. I had a friend come over and help me out and we put this brand new puppy together in a couple of hours. He gave me an extra monitor (which I had been dying for) in exchange I gave him two motherboards, 4GB of memory (I had to purchase a different kind for my new CPU, 8 gigs to be exact), my old case, CPU, several keyboards, video card and my old power supply. Anywho, I went ahead and upgraded my power supply to 850 watts this past weekend because the 450 wasn't cutting it with my new video card. I got up early this morning and installed Windows 7 64bit and I have to tell you this thing ROCKS! I now have a blazing fast computer that has benchmarked in the top 2% fastest computers in the nation and I am quite stoked. Windows 7 was just the icing on the cake. I've been up since 3:30 this morning to perform a clean install and then load all my software back on to the computer. Needless to say, I am zonked. Regardless, I've got the fourth installment of the Chrome Edition on board for everyone. I have to say I really like this mix. From the opening tune by Chicco Secci and Robbie Rivera "Let's Stay Together" which is uplifting and simply marvelous, right down to the Hex produced power anthem by Gloria Gaynor "I Never Knew". You get the massive Dirty Vegas "Days Go By" made infamous in the Mitsubishi car commercial, the big room "Safe From Harm" by Narcotic Thrust, the beautiful and underappreciated "The More I Love You" by Andrea Martin, the underground "Love Story" by Layo and Bushwaka! which took the mainstream by storm and the potty mouth Vicki Shepard in "I've Got A Feeling" which was canned by her label due to promo leaks that ended up all over the Internet. What a vault of memories this is. I could go on and on, but I'll just let these songs speak for themselves. So sit back and enjoy or throw your own little retro party. I'll be back tomorrow with volume 5 and wrap it up on Saturday with the final edition. Until then, you know what to do...enjoy! I know I said I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to get this mix complete, but I sat down yesterday and knocked it out in about an hour. The problem I knew I was going to have was the Janet Jackson and the Mary J. Blige tunes. The HQ2 mix for Janet's "Someone To Call My Lover" is not very DJ friendly by any aspect. No intro and the outro begins to slow down making it useless for beatmixing, much less keying the song with another. "Family Affair" by MJB is more user-friendly but requires a very specific song to key into, which I knew I didn't have. So, I just did the easiest thing possible and performed a start/stop on the Janet and managed to beatmix the MJB. Nothing special, but it works. From that point on, this thing just flowed flawlessly! Overall, I'm not only surprised by how well this set came out by I am very pleased as well. What you have in this final mix is a 2001 house lovers dream come true. As previously stated, it contains several songs that I couldn't work in the rest of the mixes and several alternative versions from those previously used. For me, one of the sweet points is "In These Shoes" by Bette Midler. It's been a while since I listened to these mixes, but it dawned on me that the "Mark" in the "Mark's Heel to Platforms Vocal Mix" is actually Mark Picchiotti. Probably one his earlier mixes that I never appreciated as much as I do now. It's a perfect t-dance alternative to Jonathan Peter's big room Sound Factory remix featured earlier. The other surprise was Warren Clarke's sweet and funky take on J-Lo's "I'm Real". Obviously, I didn't pay much attention to these back in the day, but they sure are nice additions this go 'round. In fact, the same can be said for Friburn and Urik's "High Pass Mix" of PSB and Peter Rauhofer's "Break 4 Love". However, I was disappointed in Crystal Waters' "Come On Down". I'm not familiar with this version, which is sort of an Alex Gaudino Ibiza structured mix. I was hoping for the original or the Tamperer mixes which use the "Price is Right" theme for the groove. Though I'm not familiar with this version, it's decent enough to be included and I thank Eric for that. I'm still waiting for the used maxi to show up, but couldn't wait any longer to make the mix. You might also be wondering why I didn't go with the Ralphi Rosario Classic House mix of "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going". For one, typical of Rosabel and Ralphi, they used a lot of what I call "dirty beats" back then. They were uneven and had way too much percussion, resulting in my having to painstakingly go through each beat to ensure they match up. Frankly, I always thought that the Junior Vasquez mix was way underappreciated anyway, so I went ahead used that take instead. The end result of that decision is outstanding. Another song I fondly remember is Junior's bootleg take on the massive Blu Cantrell song "Hit'em Up Style" from that year. It was never an official release but it was hot! I want to thank Klaus for that long lost gem. After checking it out, it was much slower than I remember, so I had to speed it up to fit in with the rest of the mix. I don't think anyone will mind. So there you have it. My take on 2001, the year that was. I think the next Chrome Edition will go back and focus on some heavy hitters from the 90s before getting on to 2002. Regardless, that will still be several months away. For now, I think I'll start working on the next BPM Edition before getting into the Spring Edition. I'm holding out for a few hopefuls for that mix, but I should be able to get it out by Easter. I've got a busy week this week and have to make up for lost time from the last. Thankfully, the rain finally stopped yesterday afternoon and it's shaping up to be a gorgeous Sunday before the rain comes back on Wednesday. I hope everyone liked this throwback as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you. I've got no firm dates for the next mix, just know that it's coming up. So,
