Elaine Miller, Fanny and Me! In this episode of Comedicine, we get to talk to pelvic physiotherapist and comedian, Elaine Miller. Elaine Miller is a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, specialising in women's health. She started doing stand-up comedy as a hobby, finding the lighter side of female urinary incontinence. In doing so, she found a way to reach and educate women about their fannies. Elaine lives in Edinburgh, home of the biggest Arts festival in the world, so the obvious next step for her was to write and perform a solo show about pelvic floors at the Edinburgh Fringe. Gusset Grippers, won the Comedy Award at Fringe World, Australia in 2020. Her second show, Viva Your Vulva, the Hole Story, was one of only two shows to be awarded five stars in 2023. She collaborated with Monash University on a paper examining humour as a health promotion tool and her #DryByChristmas social media campaign reminding women to do their pelvic floor exercises was published by Rosie Haper from Bournemouth University. Elaine shares some incredible facts, like 50% of women don't know the difference between the vulva and the vagina. FIFTY PERCENT PEOPLE! This is just not acceptable to Elaine. It is also not acceptable that it takes and average of 7 years for women to get medical help with incontinence. SEVEN YEARS!! The good news is that once you find a pelvic physio, most women get better! Through humour, Elaine is trying to change the world. One vagina at a time. 2024 will be an election year. We will have local elections in many constituencies, Police and Crime Commissioner elections and almost certainly a general election. Elaine Miller knows what's involved and explains all to WRN's Zoe in this conversation where you can hear about Elaine's experience of running in a by-election as an independent candidate. If you have thought about running as a candidate yourself, Zoe and Elaine discuss how to go about it and how to access a pack that Elaine has put together to help women who decide to stand in local or general elections. Hustings are where political candidates meet us – the electorate – and we get to quiz those candidates about their plans and what they think about the issues that matter to us. But someone has to organise them, and if there aren't any hustings in your area, maybe that could be you. Zoe and Elaine talk about how to run a hustings and how to ask killer questions at any hustings you attend. There has never been a more important time for women to be politically involved, whether that's running as a candidate, supporting a candidate or holding their local candidates to account. So let's hear what Zoe and Elaine have to say.

Recorded live from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, August 2023. Part 1 of a 3 part show. In this special recording of the Slaughtered Again Podcast, I am joined by 2 guests, comedy writer, Graham Linehan, and comedian / women's pelvic health specialist, Elaine Miller. The Slaughtered podcast is always very frank. There are no 'no go' areas. I do not think there ever should be. And so we spoke with Graham Linehan. Because too few people do. I do not always agree with how he uses social media. But. I do want to hear it from him. Directly. Twitter can make anyone look like a monster. I prefer to discuss things with people. So here, I, and the wonderful Elaine Miller talk to Graham. This is not about persuading or influencing. It is just talking about this now terrifyingly, thought-crushingly polarised debate. Surely that has to be allowed ?? Copstick

Evolving from a husband and wife ‘start-up' company to the UK's leading manufacturer of towbars, the 30-year journey to success for Tow-Trust has been built upon an ethos of providing products of unparalleled quality at competitive prices. Starting with little more than a small ambition and tremendous drive, Ian and Elaine Miller grew the business from its small single unit in Atherstone to a 60,000sq/ft site – and the mantle is now being taken forward by sons and fellow directors Tom and Alan Miller. Since its 1991 inception, the business has grown exponentially in terms of staff, product lines, components and market share. The Warwickshire manufacturer now employs 86 staff and produces towbars for all leading vehicle and motorhome brands with an accessory list that encompasses everything from spacers and steps to height couplings, adaptors, connectors, bumper protectors, chassis extensions, tow balls, socket plates and much more. With a continually expanding business and a position as the UK's marque towbar manufacturer, the company has invested heavily in the latest technology and automation – this includes a multitude of machines from Bystronic. As the CEO of Tow-Trust Towbars, Tom Miller says: “We manufacture over 3000 part numbers and ship hundreds of thousands of units every year. The manufacturing process starts at two different times, we have the hollow stock section and the sheet steel divisions. The sheet steel division runs the very latest in technology with laser cutting and automation. From here, we pass the products through press braking and welding sections to the ‘work-in-progress' holding area.” The sheet steel division is home to a wealth of technology from Bystronic with the area having three Bystronic press brake machines, the Xpert 40, Xpert 80 and Xpert 200 all lined up next to a Bystronic ByStar Fiber laser cutting machine. Adjacent to the four machine line-up is another ByStar Fiber laser cutting machine, this machine is continually processing sheet steel credit to the Bystronic ByTrans 3015 extended automated sheet metal loading facility that minimises operator intervention. The company also has a ‘hollow section' division. Discussing this area, Tom continues: “This department also runs the latest technology. Here, we have the automated Bystronic ByTube 130 for cutting round and square tube material stock and alongside this is a custom-built AMOB CH120 semi-automated machine for tube bending. This gives us complete control over our product, which is essential as we work to very tight tolerances and we require the ultimate in quality.” “When all the products have passed through our manufacturing phase, and the hollow section and sheet steel division complete their parts, components are then moved to the work-in-progress area. Here, we construct sub-assemblies and undertake our quality control process. This feeds our welding shop where we have 10 manual welding bays for small intricate parts and low-volume production parts. We also have four robotic bays for high-volume production.” Above the production shop floor resides the Design Centre and Test Division, it is here that the Tow-Trust team work closely with customers, vehicle manufacturers and its network of national dealers. Alluding to the role of this department, Tom adds: “Our in-house design team will always start by applying for the vehicle mounting point data from the vehicle manufacturer. Once we have this, we have the criteria to design and manufacture a product. From here, we will design a specimen and run it through FEA at the intended loads to check the product is capable of safely fulfilling its requirements.” “When this has all been completed, we will fully check the manufacturing process through the Bystronic software. When we are happy that we can manufacture the part and that it will achieve its load requirements, we will then make a sample. We will get a vehicle to our facility and check the parameters, and we do this for every vehicle on the road. Once we have met all our stringent manufacturing criteria, we will put the system through its type approval phase. We have a single-axis test machine, which conducts 2 million cycles and we have a Carlos test machine that is a 93-hour test – safety is paramount.” When all the parts have moved through the production cycle, they are then shot blasted, pre-treated and e-coated (Electrophoretic coating) with an industry-leading e-coat finish that has 1200-hour salt spray corrosion performance. Upon completion, the part is then passed to the packing division, as Tom continues: “We pass parts down our bespoke automated packing line where we weigh the product, band it, and send it through a heat shrink tunnel. The parts are then transferred to our warehouse where more than 30,000 items are held in stock at any one time. We have commissioned our in-house warehouse management software to give us complete control of our stock management where we scan all inventory in and out from point-of-sale to goods in the lorry - we are in complete control.” Concluding on the business, Tom says: “The company has come a long way since 1991 when it was founded. My parents set the business up in a small workshop in Atherstone, and with the continuous improvement and investment plans that we have put in place, we have become the UK's largest towbar manufacturer, which we are extremely proud of as a family-run business.

How can you heal generational trauma? For this Women of Color Rise episode, Analiza talks with Latina Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSW, co-founder and the Director of Innovation of the Trauma Resource Institute. Elaine is the key developer of the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models. She is also the author of Building Resiliency to Trauma, the Trauma and Community Resiliency Models which was selected by the United Nations and Taylor as one of the innovations helping meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She is also a Senior Consultant to Emory University's SEE Learning program, launched by the Dalai Lama. Elaine also has a podcast called Resiliency Within, Building Resiliency during Unprecedented Times. Elaine shares how her mother and grandmother immigrated from El Salvador and how she grew up in the Bay Area. She did not see poverty until she visited El Salvador when she was 11, embedding in her a desire to help others. Elaine later became a social worker and through her research at Stanford University created the Community Resiliency Model, which is used by people from all over the world, from children to adults in schools, hospital, and war-torn countries. Based on Elaine's expertise and experience as a trauma therapist, she shares how to heal from generational trauma. Traditionally, Western medicine using talk therapy to heal but for some, it's difficult to share (ex. for a soldier to talk about war can be retraumatizing). Acknowledge that we have trauma passed down from our ancestors and how embedded shame is in our culture. For example, the feeling of not enough is pervasive. It comes from white male patriarchal colonialism and capitalism. Growing up in this culture, our ancestors transported this trauma and feelings to us. We are then striving to show we belong, to show “I'm not an accident, my ideas matter.” But despite being dressed well, speaking properly, and being educated, we still don't feel like we are enough. The Community Resiliency Model offers strategies to heal. It is about the connection between our mind, body and feelings. We all have a nervous system. When we experience trauma, our body responds to protect ourselves. Our implicit memory then triggers our nervous system when we face future similar experiences. For example, if we experienced an attack as a child by a person who had a specific cologne, smelling that cologne later in life could bring us back to that moment, and we feel that we're being attacked even though we are safe. The goal is to intercept and calm our nervous system. When we learn to notice what is happening in the body, we can notice when we are activated. For example, Elaine knows that she is triggered when she feels her ears get hot. This clues her in that her nervous system is reacting, and she can use CRM strategy such as grounding or rubbing her fingers together to self-soothe. There are other CRM “Help Now” strategies too. We can also use words to calm ourselves. “I'm good. I'm good enough.” These affirmations change our mindset and help provide well-being in the body. You don't have to be a trained therapist or avid meditator to attain peace and calm, even in the most challenging of situations. Even children use these strategies! Where attention goes, energy flows. Especially for women of color facing patriarchy as we lead, we can continue to be change agents. Elaine Miller is a pelvic physiotherapist, award-winning comedic performer, women's rights campaigner, and now Edinburgh council candidate. She recounts how she became the infamous “Holyrood Flasher,” scandalized her children, and taught much of the ignorant world what a merkin is. She also discusses why male people cannot have periods, “gender difference,” comedy, fetishes, organ transplants, incontinence, the Bristol Stool Chart, bumholes, and much more. All in a lovely Scottish accent that melts the hearts of Amerkins like Corinna, who has NO REGRETS, and Nina, who reveals some very personal lady issues and clenches her Kegels through the entire interview. Anika Larsen is having a great time as she takes the challenge of both playing the mom on Broadway's "Almost Famous" and being the mom of two boys offstage. Anika's passion for saving the planet is contagious, and as a member of the Broadway Green Alliance and ambassador for Global Goals for Sustainability, she's making sure she can show and tell her children that she really tried to do what she can to pass on a healthy planet. Growing up with 9 brothers and sisters became a defining characteristic of her life and how it made her the compulsive team player that she is today. Juggling working and being a mom in real life, Anika reflects on the good and the bad things that come along with it, and how she languished during the height of the pandemic as a stay-at-home mom. She opens up about being a better mom because she's working, and the beautiful, symbiotic relationship between her home life and stage life now that she's playing a mom in “Almost Famous”. There was a point early in Anika's career when she didn't work for two years, which she considers an invaluable lesson. All the hardships that have happened to her made her smart not just about money but her future as well, and while for her the worst part of being in the industry is the unpredictability of it, she wouldn't trade it for anything. Anika Larsen is an actress who has performed on the Broadway stage in well-received shows like “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” wherein she won Drama Desk Award's Outstanding Feature Actress in a Musical and received a Tony nomination. She also originated the role of Roberta in the cult Off-Broadway musical, "Zanna, Don't!", for which she received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Her other stage credits include "Xanadu", "All Shook Up", "Avenue Q", "Chess", and “Rent” where she made her Broadway debut in 2000. She's a member of the Broadway Green Alliance, a passionate ambassador for the Global Goals for Sustainability, a member of Actor's Equity, and serves on the board at the New York City Children's Theater. Anika has an album of lullabies, “Sing You to Sleep” which you can listen to on different streaming platforms, including Spotify. Award-winning comedian and women's health physiotherapist Elaine Miller speaks to journalist Rosie Taylor about what women tell her about their pelvic floors, her own recovery from birth-related incontinence, the need for better sex education in schools - and why she's assembling a giant, sequinned vulva on stage. On the Mother Bodies podcast, Rosie is on a mission to find out why postnatal health is still so overlooked and to uncover the biases and inequalities which mean women so often don't get the care, support or treatment they need after having a baby. She speaks to fascinating guests about their personal stories of recovery after birth, how the politics of postnatal health affects us all - and the big ideas which could change mothers' lives for the better.Elaine's show, Viva Your Vulva: The Hole Story, is on every night until August 28th at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Festival was teeming on Friday 5th August, and we kicked off our run of twice weekly podcasts in style. Hosted by Copi Copstick, with special guests Mary Goggin, Trevor Lock, Matt Price and the ever fragrant Elaine Miller. PS. Totally forgot to mention getting locked in the Surgeon's Hall after-hours; 5 comedians and a surly Glaswegian trying to escape a venue was quite hilarious! https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1223931/
In Episode 98 of the #MindVine #mentalhealth podcast we are discussing the importance of caregivers, particularly for loved ones living with #dementia. Do you leak a little bit of urine when you laugh or sneeze or run? Let's face it, it's something that's happened to most of us at some point and statistics show that more than 1 in 3 women struggle with this. It's called urinary stress incontinence, usually due to a weak pelvic floor, and it's one of those things we mostly don't talk about because it's embarrassing. This month's guest is going to help us bust that taboo wide open, because I'm speaking to the fabulous Elaine Miller. She's a pelvic health physiotherapist and has helped countless women reverse the problem with her clinical support. But she's also a stand-up comic and has used her comedic talent to create the hilarious Gusset Grippers show, employing humour as a health promotion tool, and going on to win the Fringe World Comedy award in 2020. She's frank, she's funny and I'm thrilled that she's joined us to share her wisdom. We learn all about the pelvic floor: what it is; where it is; why it's important; and how to keep it in great shape. Elaine explains some of the factors that can weaken your pelvic floor and we discuss the best ways to manage that. We even try out the exercises, so you can squeeze along with us! Elaine's mantra is “We won't pee, with a 10 -10-3”, so tune in to find out what that's all about and to enjoy a very entertaining conversation. We also discuss her upcoming show Viva Your Vulva at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, where she'll once again be busting open the taboo around out intimate health with the help of giant, sparkly vulva on stage. That's definitely a date for your diary, if you'll be in the area, so check out the show notes for more details! If you've enjoyed this episode, please do tell your friends and family about the podcast and leave a 5-star rating and a review on Apple podcasts or whichever platform you listen on. It really helps to activate the algorithms and boost the rankings so that more women can find the show. Because every woman deserves a happy menopause.

Monica Lewinsky is a name that most people will know. But for a whole new generation of women, including younger millennials who were children at the time, the details of US President Bill Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and the 1998 impeachment proceedings it led to may be unfamiliar. Impeachment: American Crime Story on BBC Two, aims to reframe the Clinton scandal from the perspective of the women it engulfed. Timeouts, taking away privileges, talking it out, or my fave...yelling. In today's episode we discuss the discipline methods that have worked (and the many that have not worked) when dealing with our kid's less than stellar behaviour. There are probably better methods that would work better than just yelling all the time, but so far I haven't been able to find it...I envy you parents who can have a rational discussion with your kids about their actions. We drink the Gushing Grape cooler by Jaw Drop, test out the good old wooden spoon (while cooking), and give our mom shout out to ELAINE MILLER from the movie. Almost Famous. The British Army is recruiting gamers, 'phone zombies', and 'selfie addicts' as it broadens its skills for modern military ops. But who are the young men getting these jobs, and what impact does it have on their lives? Former Grenadier Guardsman Julian Perreira served as a J-TAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) in Afghanistan. As he monitored a 60-inch TV screen relaying live feeds from surveillance balloons and drones, it was his job to decide when and where to deploy ‘kinetic effects’ that could, and did, kill people. It was, he tells Olly, ‘a bit like playing a computer game’.The experience inflicted lasting damage on his mental health; now treated with CBT only thanks to the philanthropy of a fellow veteran. ---Julian is now a journalist who blogs at jakbrew.co.uk, where he has also established an outdoor drinkware company. If YOU have a story you’d like to share with Olly and our listeners, we’d love to hear from you: please reach out using the Feedback form on our website, modernmann.co.uk.---Elsewhere, for this month’s Zeitgeist, Ollie Peart chats to couples who are ‘child-free by choice’.Along the way he discovers ‘antinatalism’, swots up on some intriguing statistics about parental unhappiness, and disrupts a childfree sub-Reddit that definitely ISN’T ‘a movement’.If YOU would like to challenge Ollie to explore a current trend for a future edition of the show, get in touch via the Feedback form on our website, modernmann.co.uk ---Meanwhile, down the Foxhole, Alix Fox - fresh from judging a talent competition that is unlikely to be televised - considers the dilemma of a listener who ‘bears down’ during orgasm, frequently finding herself the victim of inconvenient farts. If YOU have a question of sex you’d like Alix to answer on a future edition of the show, don’t be shy - send it in via our Feedback form on our website, modernmann.co.uk.Our thanks to pelvic floor physiotherapist Elaine Miller, AKA ‘Gussie Grippers’. There are singers and then there is Anika Larsen. Known for her ferocious belt, she made her Broadway debut in Rent and was nominated for a Tony award playing prolific songwriter Cynthia Weil in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Her other theater credits include Avenue Q, All Shook up, Xanadu and Closer Than Ever. Larsen’s autobiographical musical Shafrika, the White Girl, is based on her own experiences growing up one of ten siblings in a family where six children were adopted from all over the world. She is currently artistic director of Plays in the House Teen Edition. The play reading series benefits organizations which brings theater to underserved youth. It is part of Stars in the House, created by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley. Larsen will next star in the Broadway bound Almost Famous. Based on the Cameron Crowe film, the musical is directed by Jeremy Herrin. Crowe wrote the book and lyrics, Tom Kitt composed original music. Larsen is Elaine Miller, the conflicted mom, who Frances McDormand played in the film. Larsen does volunteer virtual Q&As inspiring students from around the world from Amarillo to the Netherlands to Iowa City. With her husband, professional trumpet player Freddie Maxwell, she also created socially distant porch concerts which she performs for her community in the suburbs outside New York City. “Art will not be stopped. It can’t be,” says Larsen. “A government can try to oppress it. Or a pandemic can try and shut it down. But artists are going to make their art. Whether it’s floating out their windows or coming out of the woodwork. We can’t stop doing the thing we do.” Produced in part by the Broadway Podcast Network. Learn more about your ad choices. Dealing with menopause in the workplace is just one of the things Elaine Miller is passionate about. Her official title is physiotherapist and comedian but we reckon Queen of the Pelvic Floor is more fitting, and in this, the third in our series looking at the menopause, she chats to Mick about what needs to be done to make the menopause an accepted and well-handled part of everyone's life. Elaine is also very funny and her show Gusset Grippers is hilarious and informative. Catch it if you can and definitely giver her a follow on Twitter @GussieGrips and Instagram, where she's Gusset_Grippers. #drybyChristmas See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Wee, poop, a little bit on sex and a whole host of amazing clinical information this month with Elaine Miller, probably better known as Gussie Grips. Elaine's take on getting education to the masses is certainly unique but should it be? Continence and the urinary system are underrepresented in undergrad degrees and physios lack confidence in this incredibly important area which causes distress and embarrassment to many of the population. Strap-in this podcast will be a serious learning curve. Follow Elaine immediately on social media @gussiegrips, Jack @Jackachew and the podcast team @TPMPodcast Make sure you have a ticket to #TheBigRs 2019 at reform.physio/conference. To get into the festive spirit, this week Gillian Russell and the Personal Best team are all about giving and receiving … but not necessarily the things in life that can be gift-wrapped! What health and wellbeing gift would you give to others, what would you like to receive yourself … and what gift would you give to your younger self? Photographer Alex Rotas, author and expert on the power of the mind Dr David Hamilton, chef Graeme Pallister and regular listener Susanne Powell discuss their literal and metaphorical gifts – from laughter to good health, from companionship to a night out dancing, from yoga to courage, from time to zany running leggings. With further ideas from Living Street’s Chris Thompson, style consultant Amanda Latham, former GP Juliette McGrattan, psychologist Alan Gow, lecturer Paul Kelly, newbie runner Dawn Nisbet, physiotherapist Elaine Miller and Niall Elliott from Sport Scotland.
1 in 3 women in this country are incontinent, and that's probably an underestimation, according to pelvic health physiotherapist Elaine Miller. She is making it her mission to get women talking about this, post-childbirth and otherwise. Physiotherapy is a straightforward cure for a lot of issues concerning incontinence and the pelvic floor, and Elaine wants people to know that help is out there. How she gets the message out is slightly unusual though - her side job is as a stand-up comedian, and her show, Gusset Grippers, won Weirdest Show of the Fringe at the very first Edinburgh Festival she ever attended (that is a big deal by the way). Elaine is hilarious, there is no two ways about it - she had me in stitches during this interview - but she clearly is passionate about her role in improving female health, and preventing women from suffering in silence. As she says, there are too many women out there counting the miles between service stations, and once awareness increases, this problem should be a thing of the past. As a plus point, improved pelvic health = improved orgasms, so it's win win! In this interview we discuss (in between laughs): - Elaine's early career as a sports physio - How she became interested in becoming a pelvic floor physio after the birth of her three children - Her early forays into comedy and the realisation that she could use her platform as a comedian to raise issues around incontinence and childbirth - The time her toddler accidentally ate a dog poo (yes, really) - The barriers to women seeking help for incontinence, and the research behind people's embarrassment at their bowel and bladder dysfunction - Exercising post pregnancy and use of physiotherapy to increase your capacity - Combining the two to win 'Weirdest Show of the Fringe' at the first Edinburgh festival she attended and how she has developed her show to be comedy with a serious message, as well as a source of continuing professional development for healthcare professionals - The future of her comedy show: men's health, sex ed, potty training - The terminology of women's bodies, and the misuse of language surrounding gynaecological structures - How an average week works out for her - What the Baby Box Scheme constitutes in Scotland, and how Elaine wants to use it to inform women about pelvic health - The links between post-natal incontinence and post-natal depression - Her ambition to start a podcast, and conduct research via the podcast about the prevalence of women with incontinence - Elaine's work with Pelvic Roar and what that organisation does - Her upcoming gig dates, and a final plug for women to get help if they need it! You can find Elaine on social media: Twitter: @gussiegrips Instagram: @gussetgrippers Website: www.gussetgrippers.co.uk

Guest: Elaine Miller, Physiotherapist, Comedian, mother of threeHost: Sara-Jayne King, Late NightsTopic: The Fringe: How to have better orgasms as a woman and prevent incontinence Elaine Miller is a physiotherapist, comedian, mother of three and recovered incontinent. She has just finished a run (badoom tsssh) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with her show, Gusset Grippers, which has the aim of making you laugh, not leak.It is her belief that humour can break down the taboo surrounding incontinence - a third of women aged 35-55 wet themselves but few talk about it, never mind seek help, which is a shame as most cases of simple stress incontinence can be cured with pelvic floor exercises.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
How much attention do you pay to your pelvic floor? Do you know where it is, what it does and why it matters? Gillian Russell and the team seek the best advice for having a fit and healthy pelvic floor (men and women...) Physiotherapist Kirsteen Ferguson describes what the pelvic floor is, how much it matters and why she decided to create a video aimed at teenage girls. Rhianna, Kimberley, Amy and Catriona from the Nairn Youth Forum take a look at the video and discuss how useful it might be for them. Professor Suzanne Hagen from Glasgow Caledonian University talks about the research she's done into how effective pelvic floor exercises are. Iain Annand describes why he had to start doing pelvic floor exercises and the impact they've had on his health. Comedian and physiotherapist Elaine Miller explains how and why she uses humour to get across the importance of looking after your pelvic floor. And, of course, Gillian and producer Richard just have to get taught exactly how to do pelvic floor exercises properly...!

On today's Personal Best, Gillian Russell discusses two menopauses: the female one (if you've been through it, is there stuff you wish you'd known and if you haven't, how well informed are you?) ... and also the male one (is it even a thing?) Consultant urologist from Men's Health Scotland Michael Fraser talks about whether the male menopause exists ... or is it actually a midlife crisis? Or quite simply - ageing? What symptoms might men experience? Do we all need to be more aware of them? John shares his experiences of going through what he describes as the male menopause. Ruth Devlin from Let's Talk Menopause talks about some of the lesser-known symptoms women might experience (eg joint pain and genitourinary issues) and describes how much of an impact diet and exercise can have on alleviating symptoms. Susan and Sybilla share their menopause experiences and talk about the importance of being better informed and prepared. Physiotherapist and comedian Elaine Miller explains the importance of using humour to share experiences and address difficult issues surrounding the menopause. Sharon Edwards, Chair of the STUC Women's Committee, talks about their study on the impact the menopause can have on women at work ... and the steps organisations and individuals can take to make the workplace more menopause-friendly.

It’s time for our Summer Skeptacular Fundraiser With @AshWhiffin @stephenlingham & @gussiegrippers. We have a great line-up of comedy, poetry, insects and pelvic floor exercise for you, recorded in mid July as we prepared for the 2016 Fringe run. Ash Whiffen - who loves insects, particularly the ones that eat dead bodies - will be telling us about ‘Maggots, Murder & Museums’. Stephen Lingham – our Resident Poet - will be doing stand-up poetry which is provocative, funny, controversial and thought provoking spoken word that explores contemporary ideas surrounding free speech. Finally, Elaine Miller, physiotherapist, comedian, mother of three and recovered incontinent shares the wonders of the pelvic floor, her talk involves poo, pee and orgasms in men and women. There is, however, no show and tell. Every year we put on a vast selection of talks at ‘Skeptics on the Fringe’ and the only way we’re able to do that is through PBH’s Free Fringe. Without PBH and the free fringe crew, we would never be able to afford to put on a show without finding £1000s. PS: Sorry it's late...
