Happy Thanksgiving week, friends! Join The Art of Kindness podcast live from You Gotta Believe's 10th Anniversary Fundraiser in NYC for older foster kids. Host Robert Peterpaul chats with: Emmy-nominee Rosie Perez, Sherri Saum (The Fosters, Locke & Key), Charlene Tilton (Dallas), Kate Reinders (High School Musical the Musical: The Series, Wicked), Tony Award-winner J. Harrison Ghee (Some Like It Hot), meteorologist Janice Huff (NBC 4 New York), Jenna Leigh Green (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Wicked), Ta'Nika Gibson (Ragtime), Anika Larsen (Almost Famous, Beautiful), and hosts Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley Jackson. You Gotta Believe (YGB) exists for one reason... to work toward the day when no young person leaves foster care without the unconditional lifetime commitment of a family. Our goal is to find youth permanent families so that they have the support system they need to live safely and to their highest potential. You Gotta Believe is a national organization based in New York City that focuses exclusively on finding permanent families for older youth in foster care. Since 1995, YGB has worked tirelessly to ensure that no child ages out of the foster care system without the support, love, and stability of a family. Today, nearly 400,000 children are in foster care in the U.S., with around 20,000 aging out annually. Without the stability of a family, these young people face higher risks of homelessness, unemployment, and other hardships. YGB is committed to changing that reality. Since 1995, YGB has trained thousands of parents, licensed over 750 families, and facilitated nearly 400 adoptions of older youth, offering lifelong support to ensure family permanence. He was an Emmy-nominated writer, composer, and popular host on Sirius/XM's Broadway channel. They were placed near each other at a wedding. “We were like chitty chat, chitty chat,” Seth remembers. Notable News: Pass Over had their official opening night on Sunday and the reviews are in! Broadway World's Christian Lewis said, “If we can follow the lead of this production, Broadway can pass over into something different, something better, something more equitable and diverse, something more political.” NY Daily News's Chris Jones said, “Pass Over” is a Biblically moralistic work that calls out white America, declares that Black lives matter, and demands structural change, especially regarding the police." Time Out's Adam Feldman gave the play 4 stars and said, "Pass Over is a risky enterprise—a serious non-musical show, opening in the summer amid a public-health crisis—and although Pass Over deals with questions of escape, it is far from escapist entertainment." The Broadway League recently announced that they will not publicly share grosses for the 2021-22 season. Moulin Rouge cast members will headline the 2021 US Open opening night ceremony. The Actors Fund revealed that performer Debbie Allen, philanthropist Niko Elmaleh, producer Stacey Mindich, and “Stars in The House” creators Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley will receive The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor at their 2021 Gala. We're taking a trip to West Covina this episode, as we talk about season 1 of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. So instead of having an in-person Group Hang, start up a Netflix Party and join us in discussing one of our favorite musical TV shows! For the most part spoiler-free, though we have a spoiler section starting from 29:17. -- All four seasons of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend are currently available on Netflix. You can watch all the music videos from the show (in their explicit versions) on Rachel Bloom's YouTube channel. And you can also see some of the possible inspirations and references in each musical number. Rachel Bloom's memoir, I Want to Be Where the Normal People Are, is out now and you can listen to an excerpt from the audiobook, where she sings from a script written about how she fell in love with musicals. Watch as Lin-Manuel Miranda joins Gabrielle Ruiz for a slightly modified version of "Women Gotta Stick Together". As mentioned by Cindy, see just how many people on the street would say yes to having sex with Paul Rudd. The song "Heavy Boobs" mentions just how many objects can fit under her boobs, and Rachel Bloom proves it to be true. For those that love Santino Fontana as much as we do, he can be seen in his upcoming "live" concert with Seth Rudetsky on February 21. -- Music featured in this episode: (Note that the albums linked here are the explicit versions, though clean versions exist as well.) What’s new, Buenos Aires? Nothing much since Broadway is dark through 2021, but we’re here to talk about the new(est) Evita revival from City Center with a few tangents into insecticide, Isabel Peron, Attila the Hun, Lauren Bacall, and insecticide. -- If you’ve never listened to The Lady’s Got Potential, Patrick Flynn from The Original Cast podcast has a great primer: https://directory.libsyn.com/episode/index/id/13648631 For the record, Christine watched By Jeeves when it aired on The Shows Must Go On and rather enjoyed it. At the time of recording, Betty Buckley had just urged ALW to stop Trump from using Memory at rallies (https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Betty-Buckley-Calls-on-Andrew-Lloyd-Webber-to-Take-Legal-Action-Against-the-Trump-Campaign-For-Using-Memory-From-CATS-at-Rallies-20200621), but just recently we found out that ALW actually did (https://pagesix.com/2020/07/13/andrew-lloyd-webbers-team-sends-cease-and-desist-letter-to-donald-trump/). This week on Episode 463 of Priority One --- We ‘Trek Out’ Akiva Goldsman’s Batman and Robin apology and what he has to say about Discovery, Bryan Fuller gets candid, and the cast of Star Trek Voyager reunite for a good cause! In Star Trek Gaming, Star Trek Online’s No-win Scenario re-emerges, and says “To Hell With Honor,” and lastly we welcome Fazri Zubair of Lucid Sight’s Crypto Space Commander! CQ: Would a season long “Year of Hell” be something you’d want to see as dedicated Star Trek Series? Akiva Goldsman Chats with Collider Last week, we told you about a Collider interview with Star Trek producer, director, and writer Akiva Goldsman. On Friday May 29th, the video of that interview was posted to Collider’s youtube channel, and it contained a slew of new information. Goldman apologized for “Batman and Robin” - it was heart-felt, but we’re not sure it was enough...BUT...he also talked a bit more about Star Trek. Strap in, because this week we’ve got AUDIO! Goldsman told Collider he was not involved with Discovery’s third season, but did have some information on what’s to come, saying “So Alex [Kurtzman] has really been deeply involved in the building out of what season three looks like and what that post-Federation future is. I have seen some of it because, you know, we all work together in the same - or we did - place with lots of Star Trek pictures on the wall and editing bays and things, you know. It seems awesome to me. It’s not a final frontier but it is a new one.” - Akiva Goldsman Goldsman also revealed an interesting tidbit about Discovery’s jump to the distant future: “We all helped build that idea, all the way back to season one. Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg, the original showrunners from season one, that idea dates all the way back to that. I think it is a spectacular idea, which is to go post the timeline we know.” - Akiva Goldsman Bryan Fuller Talks “Voyager” Bryan Fuller is to Voyager what Jonathan Frakes is to Next Gen. Every time the man speaks, he leaves juicy audio clips in his wake. This week, the former-Voyager staff writer sat down with the la “Inglorious Treksperts” podcast to celebrate Voyagers Silver Anniversary, and sprinkled trek nuggets all up in our sauce. Fuller discussed the push-and-pull between Voyager’s creative team and then-Trek-Head-Rick-Berman, saying: ”I think what was interesting in the evolution of the show, which you could sense the creative struggle. And I witnessed the creative struggle when I was working there. And there was an appetite for these bigger, bolder science fiction stories. And there was a lot of resistance from Rick Berman in embracing them because he was chasing The Next Generation and was not allowing Voyager to be the show that it could be.” - Bryan Fuller But Fuller wasn’t done. He went on to describe the writer’s room’s plan to make one of Star Trek’s best two-parters - “Year of Hell” - a season long arc, and Berman’s reaction. "The “Year of Hell” and the behind-the-scenes drama around trying to craft not only that episode, but that season, was fascinating because we wanted “Year of Hell” to last the entire season. We wanted to see Voyager get its [EXPLETIVE] kicked every episode and through that season was going to be marbled the story of Annorax and the time ship that was changing things. So, we would go back to it every once in a while to remind the audience that’s  the larger story. But because Deep Space Nine had made Rick Berman allergic to serialized storytelling, violently so [we did not]” - Bryan Fuller When asked why Fuller thought Deep Space Nine was able to get away with things Voyager wasn’t, Fuller pulled no punches. "Ira [Steven Behr] didn’t give a [EXPLETIVE] what Rick Berman said, and Brannon [Braga] did. Ira was like, “I don’t care, you’re wrong. This is what we’re doing and fire me if you want to.’ He was always like ‘Fire me. If you don’t like what I’m doing, fire me, but this is what we’re doing. So if you’re not behind it, then I suggest you find someone else to do my job’” - Bryan Fuller “Stars in the House” Voyager Reunion After 25 years, a reunion is in order! And that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday, May 26th. The cast of Star Trek: Voyager met via Zoom, along with Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley - hosts of “Stars in the House” - to talk Trek - but more importantly - to raise money for “The Actor’s Fund” charity. The one hour meeting - which was organized by the “Stars in the House” hosts and Voyager’s Robert Picardo - was a fun way to look at Voyager’s behind-the-scenes dynamic. Robert Duncan McNeil - portrayer of helmsman Tom Paris and He-Man pal Kevin Corrigan - talked about Kate Mulgrew’s first day on set. Mulgrew put on the jumpsuit after the departure of Geneviève Bujold: Voyager’s first Captain Janeway. "There was a lot of uncertainty, I guess, when Geneviève left. There was a lot of uncertainty. Was the show going to get made? You know, were they going to make it a male captain? Maybe they couldn’t find a female who they felt could do this. And the moment you said the first line on the bridge, personally I felt like ‘this shows going to work. We’re going to make it. Now it’s is all together.’” - Rober Duncan McNiel Mulgrew, who has expressed interest in returning to the role of Janeway, was eager to ask former co-star and current Picard actor Jeri Ryan about what’s going on with Star Trek’s newest series. "What’s the plan, now, going  forward. Nobody knows anything” to which Ryan replied: "We were originally supposed to start shooting in the middle of June, but they would have had to started building the sets in the middle of May, which we can’t do So we’re just waiting. They’re hoping that  we can start shooting in the beginning of fall. I don’t know.” - Jeri Ryan BLACK LIVES MATTER This week, Priority One: A Roddenberry Star Trek Podcast did not record its 463rd episode live. It has been our weekly goal to entertain and inform our listeners of the goings-on in the Star Trek Multiverse. We like to consider ourselves an enjoyable distraction to your everyday lives; but, sometimes, it’s irresponsible to ignore what is happening in the world. This week in the United States, protests and rioting erupted when George Floyd was murdered by members of the Minneapolis Police Department. Floyd’s death, centuries of oppression, systemic racism, police violence, and discrimination of Black and Brown Americans have sparked protests at home and abroad. On June 2nd, Star Trek.com showed its support for the Black Lives Matter movement. A three minute clip of Deep Space Nine’s “Far beyond the Stars” starts with a simple message: “Black Lives Matter. While Freighters are as well-suited for combat as a Ferengi with an ear infection [Ferengi scream here], they offer on-board access to amenities like the Exchange, Bank, expanded Transwarp, and special Trade duty officer missions. Even better, you can go to and from your Freighte’s interior from any other ship rather than fully switching between the two. Link to the stats in the show notes. Note that, while it’s possible to do everything right and still lose in life, that’s not quite true for the event. The event TFOs now have designated end points (Maru at level 6, Sompek at level 7) and cannot be failed before reaching them. Which makes them "Always-Win Scenarios," if we’re being honest. Also, the TFOs’ untimed/infinite versions will also be disabled but the event TFOs will not have cooldowns. So will you find an honorable end as you fly into the face of certain doom? How many petaQs will you take with you, as the dread tyrant’s lighting turns your teammates into scorch marks? You’ll have plenty of chances to find out. Pray that today is a good day to die, for you will not see another. To Hell With Honor by Advisorypanda While PC captains are facing their own mortality, console captains will confront J’Ula and attempt to end her spurious sporulation spree. "To Hell with Honor" pits players against the temporally-displaced Klingon matriarch and her Elachi pawns, as they race to destroy House Mokai’s ship bases and mycelial rifts on the Beta Lankai moon. The TFO premiered with the 10th Anniversary Event on PC, and is finally making its way to XBox and PS4 from June 2nd through June 30th as its own To Hell with Honor event. This will also be part of the Event Campaign II for consoles, with daily play netting captains 50 Event Campaign Progress and one Daily Progress. The R2-D...sorry, DOT-7 ground drone pet and kit module will unlock for all characters on an account after acquiring 14 Daily Event Progress, along with the usual 3 Featured TFO Boxes and 25,000 dilithium ore. This week on Episode 463 of Priority One --- We ‘Trek Out' Akiva Goldsman's Batman and Robin apology and what he has to say about Discovery, Bryan Fuller gets candid, and the cast of Star Trek Voyager reunite for a good cause! In Star Trek Gaming, Star Trek Online's No-win Scenario re-emerges, and says “To Hell With Honor,” and lastly we welcome Fazri Zubair of Lucid Sight's Crypto Space Commander! CQ: Would a season long “Year of Hell” be something you'd want to see as dedicated Star Trek Series? Akiva Goldsman Chats with Collider Last week, we told you about a Collider interview with Star Trek producer, director, and writer Akiva Goldsman. On Friday May 29th, the video of that interview was posted to Collider's youtube channel, and it contained a slew of new information. Goldman apologized for “Batman and Robin” - it was heart-felt, but we're not sure it was enough...BUT...he also talked a bit more about Star Trek. Strap in, because this week we've got AUDIO! Goldsman told Collider he was not involved with Discovery's third season, but did have some information on what's to come, saying “So Alex [Kurtzman] has really been deeply involved in the building out of what season three looks like and what that post-Federation future is. I have seen some of it because, you know, we all work together in the same - or we did - place with lots of Star Trek pictures on the wall and editing bays and things, you know. It seems awesome to me. It's not a final frontier but it is a new one.” - Akiva Goldsman Goldsman also revealed an interesting tidbit about Discovery's jump to the distant future: “We all helped build that idea, all the way back to season one. Fuller discussed the push-and-pull between Voyager's creative team and then-Trek-Head-Rick-Berman, saying: ”I think what was interesting in the evolution of the show, which you could sense the creative struggle. And I witnessed the creative struggle when I was working there. And there was an appetite for these bigger, bolder science fiction stories. And there was a lot of resistance from Rick Berman in embracing them because he was chasing The Next Generation and was not allowing Voyager to be the show that it could be.” - Bryan Fuller But Fuller wasn't done. He went on to describe the writer's room's plan to make one of Star Trek's best two-parters - “Year of Hell” - a season long arc, and Berman's reaction. So, we would go back to it every once in a while to remind the audience that's  the larger story. But because Deep Space Nine had made Rick Berman allergic to serialized storytelling, violently so [we did not]” - Bryan Fuller When asked why Fuller thought Deep Space Nine was able to get away with things Voyager wasn't, Fuller pulled no punches. "Ira [Steven Behr] didn't give a [EXPLETIVE] what Rick Berman said, and Brannon [Braga] did. Ira was like, “I don't care, you're wrong. This is what we're doing and fire me if you want to.' He was always like ‘Fire me. If you don't like what I'm doing, fire me, but this is what we're doing. So if you're not behind it, then I suggest you find someone else to do my job'” - Bryan Fuller “Stars in the House” Voyager Reunion After 25 years, a reunion is in order! And that's exactly what happened on Tuesday, May 26th. The cast of Star Trek: Voyager met via Zoom, along with Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley - hosts of “Stars in the House” - to talk Trek - but more importantly - to raise money for “The Actor's Fund” charity. The one hour meeting - which was organized by the “Stars in the House” hosts and Voyager's Robert Picardo - was a fun way to look at Voyager's behind-the-scenes dynamic. Robert Duncan McNeil - portrayer of helmsman Tom Paris and He-Man pal Kevin Corrigan - talked about Kate Mulgrew's first day on set. Mulgrew put on the jumpsuit after the departure of Geneviève Bujold: Voyager's first Captain Janeway. "There was a lot of uncertainty, I guess, when Geneviève left. There was a lot of uncertainty. Was the show going to get made? You know, were they going to make it a male captain? Maybe they couldn't find a female who they felt could do this. And the moment you said the first line on the bridge, personally I felt like ‘this shows going to work. We're going to make it. Now it's is all together.'” - Rober Duncan McNiel Mulgrew, who has expressed interest in returning to the role of Janeway, was eager to ask former co-star and current Picard actor Jeri Ryan about what's going on with Star Trek's newest series. "What's the plan, now, going  forward. Nobody knows anything” to which Ryan replied: "We were originally supposed to start shooting in the middle of June, but they would have had to started building the sets in the middle of May, which we can't do So we're just waiting. They're hoping that  we can start shooting in the beginning of fall. I don't know.” - Jeri Ryan BLACK LIVES MATTER This week, Priority One: A Roddenberry Star Trek Podcast did not record its 463rd episode live. It has been our weekly goal to entertain and inform our listeners of the goings-on in the Star Trek Multiverse. We like to consider ourselves an enjoyable distraction to your everyday lives; but, sometimes, it's irresponsible to ignore what is happening in the world. This week in the United States, protests and rioting erupted when George Floyd was murdered by members of the Minneapolis Police Department. Floyd's death, centuries of oppression, systemic racism, police violence, and discrimination of Black and Brown Americans have sparked protests at home and abroad. On June 2nd, Star Trek.com showed its support for the Black Lives Matter movement. A three minute clip of Deep Space Nine's “Far beyond the Stars” starts with a simple message: “Black Lives Matter. A very special interview between SYFY Wire's Adam Pockross and the legendary Robert Picardo where they discuss Star Trek, Total Recall, Gremlins, Space Command, and so much more. With many a convention going by the wayside during these socially distanced times, Picardo and his Voyager crew are reuniting to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary virtually May 26th on Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley’s Stars in the House YouTube show, and the actor told us all about how that came together — which basically boils down to him participating in a China Beach reunion (where he played another doctor) recently, and pitching Seth and James on the idea of doing another one for Voyager. Of course, while we were discussing the reunion, which is also a much needed benefit for The Actors Fund, we had all sorts of Voyager questions to discuss as well: like when Picardo first realized the very talented (and Broadway experienced) cast was clicking, the line that made him truly understand his character, if he’s ever been mistaken for a real doctor, his favorite “I’m a doctor not a …” moment, and more.

This is the final episode of the first season of Seth Rudetsky’s Back to School. We’ll be back soon with Season 2!

Come and join Jimi and Tommy as they work out why it’s just so good in its lyrics, music and book, discuss why the show hasn’t had its West End premiere yet and the potential ways to explore the show in the future. Next to Normal (Original Broadway Cast) Amazon / iTunes / Spotify Instantly iconic, Alice Ripley’s Tony Award acceptance speech for Next to Normal is one not to be missed! If you want a bit of flavour of The Real Fierce Alice Ripley, check out her Obsessed! video with Seth Rudetsky. If you can bear it, see if you can get through the trainwreck that was the 2009 Tony Awards opening to see Aaron Tveit mashup with Stockard Channing...for some reason. Fun question alert - this show has always been hugely requested, so what’s your Next to Normal experience? Let us know on Reddit! Did you get to see the recent Canadian production of Next to Normal? If not, check out the trailer to see what you missed! Technically not a bootleg, we’d never promote that, but here’s the out-of-place bop ‘Feeling Electric’ for your listening pleasure! Carrie Fisher is exquisite and that’s all that needs to be said. So are the Goodmans. Potentially one of the best explorations of mental health for adults and children alike, Inside Out is one not to be missed. A Really Straightforward Quiz Question Despite popular assumptions to the contrary, this musical is NOT the first musicalized mash-up of this author’s work. A previously created TV special stars, among other people, Kathy Najimy, Christopher Lloyd, Robin Williams and an entire gospel choir. What musical is the SECOND musicalized mash-up of this author’s work?

It's Thursday and time again for Midday theater critic J. Wynn Rousuck, who joins us each week with her reviews of Maryland's regional stage. Today her spotlight is on Disaster!, the 2012 musical comedy created by Seth Rudetsky and Drew Geraci, and co-written by Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick. The musical made it to Broadway for a brief run in 2016, and it's now getting a new staging at Cockpit in Court Summer Theater, on the campus of the Community College of Baltimore County, in Essex. At the heart of this nostalgic spoof are the hit songs of the 70s and 80s -- played here by an 8-piece band under the direction of Michael deVito -- and the cinematic earthquakes, tidal waves, and infernos that were the staples of the era's disaster flicks. Directed and choreographed by Todd Pearthree, the musical features performances by Shane Lowry as Chad, John Andrew as Scott, Brian Jacobs as Professor Ted Scheider, and Lisa Pastella as Sister Mary Downy.Disaster! continues at Cockpit in Court through Sunday, June 30. Just you wait, this episode is diving into some juicy drama surrounding the 2001 West End revival’s multiple Elizas, the importance of healthy singing as a live performer, the relationship between Eliza and Henry, and more! With a little bit of luck, maybe we will be able to unpack this beast of a show in an hour … Podcast cover art: David Taylor Twitter: @bwaybabies Facebook: Facebook.com/broadwaybabiespodcast iTunes | Spotify | Amazon CD Songs "Overture/Prologue" "I Could Have Danced All Night" (performed by Martine McCutcheon) "On the Street Where You Live" (performed by Mark Umbers) "With a Little Bit of Luck" (performed by Dennis Waterman) "Ascot Gavotte" (performed by My Fair Lady company) "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" (performed by Jonathan Pryce) (All lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner & music by Frederick Loewe; orchestrated by William David Brohn) Show Notes A news profile about Martine McCutcheon’s understudy, Alexandra Jay, who had her own 42nd Street moment when she had to go on as Eliza on the eve of opening night with about a day’s notice. It’s very press-controlled, fluff piece-y, lots of quotes from Cameron Mackintosh, and it weirdly talks about her salaries at jobs. A really interesting documentary on YouTube about the 2001 "My Fair Lady" West End production, with rehearsal scenes of "The Rain in Spain" and "With a Little Bit of Luck," as well as the production history of the musical and its then-infamous straight play source material Jonathan Pryce shares his opinions about the “Eliza flux” with some pretty straightforward American talk show hosts… Martine McCutcheon sings "Loverly" on a TV show, and she’s loverly, but it’s not quite up to par as a classical voice. For what I mean by that: A video of Audra taking a high-as-hell D flat in "Danced All Night" after pianist Seth Rudetsky surprises her with a key change, and she still nails it because she’s just FLAWLESS.

Spring Awakening (Original Broadway Cast) iTunes / Spotify / Amazon SHOW NOTES The beautiful Sutton-Superfan, Jonathan Groff, sounds off to the equally beautiful Seth Rudetsky (give us a job, Seth!) about when he auditioned for “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and performs the entire tap number from the opening! He’s come a long way to get to his adonis status in Perfect Pitch. Here’s Skylar Astin sporting the famous Georg binocular locks. This is purely just a podcast about the hot men associated with “Spring Awakening”. Here’s the man who started it all. You work that moustache, Mr. Wedekind! Lea Michele looking adorable herein one of her first Broadway roles in Ragtime. Am I the only one who thinks she hasn’t changed a bit? Oh, and speaking of Groffsauce, here he is chatting about totally blanking during “Left Behind.” It's the bomb. Here’s the marvelous Deaf West performing the revival of “Spring Awakening” at the White House with an interesting interview from Duncan Sheik. You get a great glimpse of how they use the blend of hearing and deaf actors. This is a great article from The Guardian which features opinions from five deaf New Yorkers and a hearing ASL interpreter. They give a great insight as to what the experience is like for a deaf audience member. And of course, JIMI'S NEW VIDEO! GO WATCH IT! MY CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN NOW! SHOOT! “WHAT WILL WE DO NEXT” QUIZ QUESTION Jerry Herman infamously re-used this Hello, Dolly! melody* in a later musical. What is the subject of the song in which he re-uses the melody?

Dennis visits his old friend, filmmaker and actor Jack Plotnick on the eve of the release of his sci-fi dramedy Space Station 76, starring Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Matt Bomer, Jerry O'Connell and Marisa Coughlan.  Jack talks about the inspiration for the film, its long, winding road to fruition and what's it like to watch Matt Bomer pleasure himself with a robot hand.  Also discussed are Jack's bound-for-Broadway jukebox musical "Disaster!" (co-created with Seth Rudetsky), what it was like to be part of "Ellen's" game-changing Coming Out episode, putting Sir Ian McKellan to sleep on the set of "Gods and Monsters" and the early days of his illustrious "Girls Will Be Girls" character Evie Harris.  (FYI, the photo of us was taken at our friends Guy and Nir's Malibu wedding in the fall of 2013 and I'm rocking the Mad Men suit I talked about in the podcast "So This Is What Striking Looks Like.")  More Jack Plotnick fun to come in an Extra episode.  Stay tuned.

Episode 30: New York Part Two In part two of Craig and Lindsay's New York adventure they talk about their favourite theatrical experience – Too Much Light Makes the Baby go Blind. Show Notes Playwriting Exercise Series Seth's Broadway Chatter Box Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind Subscribe to The Theatrefolk Podcast On iTunes. On Stitcher. Episode Transcript Welcome to TFP, The Theatrefolk Podcast. I am Lindsay Price, resident playwright for Theatrefolk. Hello! I hope you're well. Thanks for listening. Today, we have part two as Craig and I dish on our favourite New York experience. But first, let's do some THEATREFOLK News. Lots a great stuff going on over on our blog over on theatrefolk.com/blog. We've already talked about Movie Monologue Monday and we also have an on-going series of playwriting exercises on Saturday. It has been so much fun to work on this series. I think that it just really sits in an interesting part of my brain. I love coming up with exercises. I love trying to find new ways to help encourage, inspire writers. This week, it's going to be a “picture prompt as writing inspiration” post. Every time we're in New York the visual stimulation is just mind-blowing. There is always something awesome to look at, interesting, exciting. Everywhere you look there is a story. Now, often it is a story that I am completely fabricating, I'm making up as we go, but, you know, that's what writers do, right? Make it all up! I have to put my crazy mind to work. I have to make it do something useful, you know? So, last time in NYC, I was really taken by textures – murals, mosaics, ceilings, floors. So, that's going to be the application of this week's picture prompt. Write a scene that takes place in or incorporates aspects of the photograph. Lastly, where, oh, where can you find this podcast? We post new episodes every Wednesday at theatrefolk.com and on our Facebook page and Twitter. You can find us on the Stitcher app AND you can subscribe to TFP on iTunes. Imagine that! All you have to do is search on the word “Theatrefolk.” Episode Thirty: New York Part Two Thirty? We're already up to thirty episodes? Isn't that wonderful? That's amazing. All right, let's keep going. So, today we're back in New York City where Craig and I talk about our favourite theatrical experience in New York and actually anywhere. We also talk about a live interview we saw with Seth Rudetsky. He has a show called Seth's Chatterbox in the back of a tiny basement cabaret bar where he interviews Broadway performers and these two that he interviewed the time that we went share some very interesting points on the path to Broadway, on succeeding on Broadway and failing on Broadway. So, keep listening to find that out. Lindsay: Hello, Craig. How are you? Craig: Me? Lindsay: Yes. Craig: I'm good. I'm tired. Lindsay: Yes! We're nearing the end of our time here in New York, right? And I think that last night we did what is, I think, it's my top theatrical experience. How does it rate for you? Craig: Last night's show? Lindsay: Just going to see this show in general? Craig: Oh, I think it's something that I, sometimes, it's only on two nights a week and, sometimes, we come here and it's not on the nights we're here and I feel lesser for not having seen it. Lindsay: The show that we're talking about, it's a very unique experience. It only plays in New York and Chicago and it's been running for years and years and years and years. We figured out that we started going in 2004. Craig: Which is impossible because we're not that old. Lindsay: That means we're old! Craig: Weren't we in high school in 2004? Lindsay: Yes, of course, we were. And this is a show called Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind put on by the New York Neo-Futurists and it's a very simple concept. It is 30 plays in 60 minutes. Craig: They attempt to perform the 30 plays in 60 minutes.
