While we have covered $WSM in several previous episodes, it is a case study on dividend growth investing. In what normally takes 10+ years to deliver to investors, Williams Sonoma has provided us with attractive dividend growth and total return in less than 3 years. In this "express mail" episode, Greg looks at Williams-Sonoma's latest earnings and how recent weakness in the stock price could be a long-term positive for total return. He analyzes how if the stock goes lower, there is room for more share repurchases, which boosts dividend growth and earnings growth. Additionally, he points out that if the stock turns around and goes much higher again, we may consider selling more of the stock. As we stand somewhere in the middle, Greg concludes by looking at where he would buy into the stock again.00:55 Special Episode: Williams Sonoma Earnings Update01:24 Williams Sonoma: A Case Study in Dividend Growth02:33 Strategic Decisions and Market Reactions05:22 Evaluating Dividend Growth and Future Prospects12:27 Conclusion and Investment StrategySend us a textBook time on our calendar here If you submit a question to us and we use it in an episode, we will send you an official The Dividend Mailbox Yeti® Tumbler -> Email us at ethan@growmydollar.com.Notes & Resources:DCM Investment Reports & ModelsVisit our website to learn more about our investment strategy and wealth management services.Follow us on:Instagram - Facebook - LinkedIn - TwitterIf you enjoy the show, we'd greatly appreciate it if you subscribe and leave a review

To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Why Badr Matters• Known in the Qur'an as Yawm al-Furqan (Day of Distinction), clearly differentiating truth from falsehood.• Sahaba who participated (Ahlul Badr, 313 companions) are ranked highest among companions.• Guaranteed paradise (Hadith: “Do as you please; you have been forgiven.”)• Prophet ﷺ honoured them with special recognition even in funeral prayers (six takbirs instead of four).• Angels who participated were also the highest-ranking angels, led by Jibreel (AS).Historical Context: Prelude to Badr• Migration (Hijrah) forced Muslims to abandon homes, wealth, and possessions in Makkah.• Quraysh confiscated Muslim properties, using these resources for lucrative trade caravans (Rehlat ash-Shita'i was-Saif).• Muslims aimed to reclaim their rightful property by intercepting a Qurayshi caravan led by Abu Sufyan, triggering events leading to Badr. From Caravan Raid to Full-scale Battle• 313 Muslims set out initially to intercept a lightly guarded caravan, not expecting battle.• Quraysh gathered 1,300 soldiers, heavily armed, under leadership of Abu Jahl, aiming to decisively crush Muslims.Intervention by Shaytan (Iblis)• Quraysh initially hesitant to leave Makkah undefended due to fear of attack from Banu Bakar tribe.• Shaytan appeared disguised as Suraqah ibn Malik of Banu Bakar, assuring Quraysh of safety, urging them to fight.• Quranic Reference: (Surah Al-Anfal) highlighting how Shaytan deceived and encouraged Quraysh to battle. Thanks for reading BeQuranic! This post is public so feel free to share it.Strategic Decisions and Divine Support• Prophet ﷺ strategically positioned Muslims at wells, guided by advice from companion Hubab ibn al-Mundhir.• Muslims experienced miraculous comfort:• Peaceful sleep despite imminent danger.• Gentle rain provided stability, comfort, and firm ground.• Quraysh, by contrast, experienced discomfort:• Heavy rain, causing fatigue and difficult terrain.Prophet's ﷺ Prayer and Trust in Allah• Prophet ﷺ spent the night in fervent du'a:• Notably repeating “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum” (O Ever-Living, O Sustainer).• Made urgent du'a, recognizing critical significance: “If this small group is destroyed, Islam itself will vanish.”• Encouragement from Abu Bakr comforting the Prophet ﷺ, assuring him of Allah's help. The Battle: Angels Descend• Muslims arranged strategically (in straight lines), introducing new disciplined military tactics unfamiliar to Arabs.• Jibreel and angels appeared, visibly fighting alongside Muslims, terrifying Quraysh.• Shaytan (in form of Suraqah) fled upon seeing angels, declaring: “I see what you see not; I fear Allah.”Outcomes and Consequences of Badr• Decisive Victory: Muslims achieved overwhelming victory.• Quraysh lost over 70 key leaders (e.g., Abu Jahl, Umayyah ibn Khalaf).• Muslims had minimal casualties (~14 martyrs).• Islam recognized as a significant force across Arabian Peninsula for the first time, marking the beginning of its rise.Lessons & Reflections from Badr• Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah): Trusting Allah fully despite overwhelming odds.• Sincerity and Sacrifice: Muslims left everything behind purely for Allah's sake.• Unity in Diversity: Prophet ﷺ strategically utilized companions' diverse backgrounds (Muhajirin & Ansar) for strength.• Recognition of True Heroes: Encouraged knowing Sahaba (e.g., Mus'ab ibn Umair, Ali ibn Abi Talib, Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib) as genuine role models, over fictional or superficial heroes.Practical Takeaways:• Tonight's Remembrance: Emulate Prophet's du'a:• Recite “Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum”, seeking Allah's aid for personal and collective struggles.• Reflect deeply on the legacy and lessons of Badr.• Renew personal commitments towards Islam, inspired by Sahaba's exemplary courage and sacrifice.BeQuranic is a reader-supported publication. In this episode of the Anglotopia podcast, host Jonathan Thomas speaks with Allen Packwood, director of the Churchill Archives Center at Cambridge, about Winston Churchill's role during the D-Day landings. They explore the complexities of military strategy, the scale of preparations, and the integration of civilian and military efforts. Allen shares insights from his research and discusses how Churchill's past experiences, particularly the Gallipoli campaign, influenced his decision-making during World War II. The conversation also touches on the dynamics between Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin, and the challenges of navigating post-war visions. This conversation delves into the complexities of Winston Churchill's leadership during World War II, particularly focusing on his relationships with the United States and the Soviet Union, his hands-on approach to military operations, and the challenges he faced in the post-war world. The discussion also touches on Churchill's character, his desire for direct involvement in key military events like D-Day, and the lessons that can be drawn from his life and career. Additionally, the potential for creating an AI model based on Churchill's writings is explored, alongside personal anecdotes and favorite quotes from the historical figure. Links Churchill Archives Allen Packwood Churchill's D-Day Book link Takeaways Allen Packwood's journey to the Churchill Archives was serendipitous. Churchill's leadership during D-Day is often misrepresented. The planning for D-Day began as early as 1942. Civilian preparations were crucial for the success of D-Day. Churchill was deeply concerned about the impact on French civilians. Integration of British and American forces was essential for D-Day. Lessons from Gallipoli shaped Churchill's approach to D-Day. Logistics played a critical role in the D-Day operation. Churchill navigated complex relationships with Roosevelt and Stalin. By 1945, Churchill recognized the decline of the British Empire. The post-war world saw a shift in power dynamics favoring the US. Churchill emphasized the importance of maintaining relationships with the US. By 1945, Britain's global influence was significantly diminished. Churchill's hands-on approach sometimes interfered with military operations. His involvement in D-Day preparations was both frustrating and necessary. Churchill's desire to command on D-Day reflected his character. Post-D-Day, Churchill struggled with the changing military landscape. Churchill's dynamism and energy were key to his enduring legacy. The idea of an AI Churchill raises ethical concerns. Personal anecdotes reveal Churchill's complex personality and leadership style. Sound Bites "It's all luck that led me here." "Churchill's role in D-Day is often overlooked." "The scale of D-Day was unprecedented." "Integration of forces took time and effort." "Gallipoli taught Churchill valuable lessons." "Logistics were key to D-Day's success." "The British Empire was fading away by 1945." "The United States is now the dominant circle." "His interference was valid and useful at times." "The whole idea was complete madness." In this episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with Isaiah Douglass, the host of the Vet Success Podcast, about how data can revolutionize veterinary marketing. We dove deep into the ways practices can use data to not just attract but also engage and retain clients. It's packed with insights that are especially valuable for veterinary practices eager to leverage data effectively. We kicked things off by discussing the importance of demographic data in shaping marketing strategies. I emphasized how crucial it is to understand the local population's values and preferences rather than relying on assumptions about an ideal client. Isaiah and I both agreed that moving beyond assumptions and focusing on real community data can lead to more successful marketing outcomes. As we continued our conversation, we explored the significance of identifying target audiences based on buying styles and preferences. Isaiah shared how understanding whether potential clients are bargain hunters or value quality can shape marketing strategies. I added that finding a "starving audience" those eager for the services a practice offers - is key to successful marketing. We also touched on the types of data practices should collect, such as drive-time reports, to make informed strategic decisions. Isaiah highlighted the importance of making data actionable, sharing examples of how demographic insights can reveal growth opportunities. We wrapped up by discussing the role of psychographics in crafting resonant marketing messages and how practices can collaborate with local businesses to enhance visibility. This episode is a must-listen for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of data-driven marketing in the veterinary field.

"One Big Fire with Leo Pareja"     Summary: In this episode, John Kitchens is joined by Leo Pareja, Chief Strategy Officer at EXP Realty, for a deep dive into the power of collaboration and leadership in the real estate industry. The concept of "One Big Fire" is explored, with Leo sharing insights on scaling teams, the importance of navigating chaotic market conditions, and leading in times of uncertainty. With an audience of real estate professionals, the discussion emphasizes strategies for not only surviving but thriving in today's market by becoming the CEO of your own business. Key Highlights: The Birth of "One Big Fire" John and Leo share the backstory behind the concept of "One Big Fire", reflecting on moments from a mastermind group where top real estate agents discussed thinking bigger, working together, and building collective success. The phrase "One Big Fire" originated as a metaphor for combining individual efforts into a massive, unstoppable force in the real estate industry, rather than working in isolation. Importance of Collaboration and Thinking Big Leo highlights the value of surrounding oneself with people who push you to think bigger and work harder. He recalls moments of growth from his mastermind group, where agents continually challenged each other to reach higher levels of success. The significance of sharing resources, ideas, and energy to create larger, more impactful results is underscored. Leadership and Becoming the CEO of Your Real Estate Business One of the central themes of the episode is leadership in the real estate world. John and Leo both stress the importance of taking charge and acting like the CEO of your business. Leo shares how he went from being a solo agent to leading a team and eventually joining EXP Realty, now overseeing 87,000 agents across 24 countries. Navigating Real Estate's Messy Middle: Market Chaos & Opportunity Leo dives into the current real estate climate, especially the challenges that come with an uncertain market. He likens today's environment to wartime leadership, where decisive action is critical. He points out that it's easier to succeed during chaotic times if you make quick decisions and act as a true leader. The importance of learning to pivot and adapt is emphasized as a necessary skill for thriving in unpredictable markets. Leo's Take on the Financial Crisis and How It Shaped His Career Leo shares personal experiences from the 2008 financial crisis, explaining how it transformed him from an agent into a more decisive, “wartime general” leader. He talks about how the crisis created the foundation for his current leadership style, shaping his understanding of how to guide large teams through challenging situations. The Evolution of Real Estate in a Skills-Based Industry Real estate is becoming more professional and skills-based, moving away from easy sales and into a climate where professionals with solid knowledge and expertise will thrive. Leo discusses how agents who focus on skills development and confidence will be the ones who stand out, particularly as the market shifts to more demanding, higher-level work. The Future of Real Estate: Survival of the Fittest Leo and John predict a period of high attrition in the real estate industry. Many agents will leave the industry, but those who stay will have greater opportunities. They also talk about how the real estate landscape will evolve, with an emphasis on professional standards, high-quality service, and agents who are willing to innovate. Overcoming the Challenges of Buyer-Side Compensation and Steering The hosts tackle one of the most pressing issues in real estate: changes in buyer-side compensation following recent legal settlements. Leo advocates for transparency and professionalism, warning against unethical practices like steering (guiding buyers based on commission). Instead, he encourages agents to embrace new industry norms while maintaining their fiduciary responsibilities. Adapting to New Rules and Leading Through Change Leo talks about the changing regulations in the real estate market, specifically around commission structures, and advises agents to lead with integrity. As new practices emerge in the market, agents are encouraged to stay informed, stay compliant, and continue to offer high-quality service to their clients. Leo's Leadership Philosophy: Showing Up & Taking Action A key takeaway from Leo's leadership style is the importance of showing up and making decisions. He emphasizes that in times of confusion, people need someone to lead—and indecision is often the worst decision. Notable Quotes: "We need to think bigger, push harder, and surround ourselves with people who do the same. That's how we build One Big Fire." — Leo Pareja "In times of chaos, it's easier to become a millionaire than in times of calm. The key is acting like a CEO and leading through the storm." — John Kitchens "Most of the time in life, you just need to show up and say, ‘I'm here.'" — Leo Pareja What You'll Learn: The power of collaboration in building successful real estate businesses. Leadership strategies for navigating uncertain market conditions. How to position yourself as a thought leader and a “wartime general” in challenging times. The future of the real estate industry and how agents can adapt to new rules and thrive. Why mindset, adaptability, and professional skills are more important now than ever.   Connect with Us: Instagram: @johnkitchenscoach LinkedIn: @johnkitchenscoach Facebook: @johnkitchenscoach

If I can give one piece of advice, it's to make data-driven decisions. Data on market trends and customer needs has moved my business forward. Trust the data! I spoke with Austin Linney, a seasoned innovator and entrepreneur, who shared how data helped him pivot from real estate to business acquisitions. By integrating data into every step of his business process, he was able to optimize operations, reduce risks, and build a resilient company. Today, he's sharing how you can do it, too. About Austin LinneyAustin Linney is a serial entrepreneur, real estate investor, and host of the "Construct Your Life with Austin Linney" podcast. He has built several successful businesses, including Crementum Capital Holdings, and helped numerous people break through obstacles to achieve their goals. But Austin's life wasn't always easy. He struggled with negative thoughts, self-sabotage, and alcohol addiction, which led to financial troubles and poor relationships. Hitting rock bottom, he decided to change his mindset and life, and now he focuses on helping others build businesses, achieve financial freedom, and grow personally.Key Insights:Deliver great service. Positive customer reviews and feedback are critical indicators of business success as they build trust, attract new customers, and signal high-quality service.Balance big dreams with practical choices. Pick projects that make sense both financially and operationally. Austin compares the flashy appeal of big commercial jobs to the stability of residential projects in his business. Use data wisely. Let data guide your decisions. Keep track of key metrics like call volumes and customer feedback to understand business trends and make informed choices about the next steps you want to take.Contribute to your community. Creating jobs and a positive impact not only adds to your business success but also fosters a positive social impact. This way, you build a loyal customer base and create a thriving environment that benefits everyone involved.Plan for the long term. Building a successful business takes time. I don't believe in overnight success, and Austin also highlighted how planning ahead and being patient through the growth process can set you up for success.Austin's best advice for entrepreneurs:“An hour spent Monday morning by a business owner, shaking your hands, smiling at them, asking them how their weekend was, will give you a more ROI on your business than the other 40 hours that you'll spend in your business that week.”Connect with Austin Linney:LinkedInInstagramXWebsiteResources mentioned:*Buy then Build bookFollow Beyond 8 Figures:LinkedInXWebsite*Affiliate Disclaimer: Some links in this episode are affiliate links. Strategic foresight, such as choosing between stationary or mobile medical units, is also critical for effectively managing medical services in potential future conflicts.   Episode Keywords: Combat Medicine, Fallujah, Military Deployment, Medical Practice, Battlefield Readiness, Code Red Fallujah, Family Physician, Navy Doc, 9/11, Medical School, Mentorship, Foresight, Empathy, Listening Skills, Life and Death, Field Medical Aid Station, Marines, Harrowing Medical Procedures, Emergency Medical Procedures, Combat Environment, Emotional Toll, Physical Toll, Stillness, Hypervigilance, Resilience, Military Medical Professionals, Strategic Decisions, Mobile Medical Units   Hashtags: #MilitaryMedicine #CombatDoctor #FallujahFrontlines #NavyPhysician #HealingUnderFire #BattlefieldMedic #WarzoneStories #MilitaryMemoirs #FromMedSchoolToWar #VeteranTales   Honoring the Legacy and Preserving the History of Military Medicine  The WarDocs Mission is to honor the legacy, preserve the oral history, and showcase career opportunities, unique expeditionary experiences, and achievements of Military Medicine.
