ROMA (ITALPRESS) - "Sono un ottimista sfrenato, nei contratti con determinati sponsor ho già inserito il premio per la qualificazione alle Olimpiadi: è un traguardo molto ottimistico, però io contrattualmente l'ho inserito. Mai dire mai, è un sogno che cerchiamo di realizzare”. Lo ha detto il presidente della Federazione italiana giuoco handball (FIGH), Stefano Podini, nel corso di un'intervista presso la sede romana dell'Italpress. “È vero che le migliori squadre del mondo sono europee quindi la possibilità di qualificarsi è molto ridotta, ma si può sempre sognare”, ha proseguito il numero uno della FederPallamano in merito alla possibilità che la Nazionale possa qualificarsi per la prima volta nella storia alle Olimpiadi. Intanto, dopo ventotto anni di assenza, la squadra maschile si è qualificata per i Mondiali che si disputeranno in Croazia, Danimarca e Norvegia a partire dal 14 di gennaio. “Avevamo un commissario tecnico (Riccardo Trillini ndr) che era oberato da diversi incarichi, svolgeva più funzioni all'interno della federazione e abbiamo voluto alleggerirlo da tutta una serie di attività per vederlo concentrato sulla prima squadra. Questo ha aiutato nel farlo lavorare meglio e con più serenità”. La Nazionale femminile invece disputerà il playoff di qualificazione ad aprile: “Anche lì abbiamo voluto dare un segnale importante - ha spiegato Podini - abbiamo ristrutturato tutto lo staff degli allenatori, abbiamo un nuovo allenatore della prima squadra (Alfredo Rodriguez ndr) che è coadiuvato da allenatori di provenienza spagnola e abbiamo voluto dare questa impronta al settore femminile dove crediamo ci sia molto lavoro da fare, partiamo svantaggiati rispetto agli uomini ma ci siamo detti che qualora non andasse bene ad aprile, andrà bene per le prossime qualificazioni agli Europei, è un work in progress”. Podini è stato eletto presidente nel giugno di quest'anno: “Prima sono stato atleta, poi dirigente, presidente di Lega e ora presidente della Federazione. Sono quarantotto anni di un percorso a tutto tondo che mi ha portato a questo incarico che sicuramente si è presentato ricco di insidie, problemi e sfide da dover affrontare. C'era la voglia di trovare gli sponsor che ci accompagnassero in queste sfide, abbiamo trovato il main sponsor e ne stiamo cercando altri. Stiamo lavorando a tutto tondo”. Sulla possibilità di organizzare grandi eventi in Italia Podini aggiunge: “Conosco bene l'organizzazione di questi eventi, sono molto impegnativi. L'asticella che pone la Federazione Mondiale è molto alta, ci sono da garantire tutta una serie di servizi molto costosi. Il problema è trovare i partner commerciali per organizzare questi eventi, la capacità organizzativa ci sarebbe ma mancano i fondi.
