"Ten years of Invisible Inc! It doesn't seem that long ago since the label was first conceived in a moment of naive enthusiasm, I must confess!" We're premiering "Animal, Mineral, Vegetable" by Girls Chat Room, a standout cut from Invisible Inc's 10-year anniversary compilation. The label celebrates a decade of sitting comfortably in that sweet spot between outsider dance music and experimental sounds. guided by the vision of founder GK Machine since 2014. Part of a special 2xLP release pressed on pink vinyl, across 80 minutes it's exactly the kind of "mental kaleidoscope" that gives this now Glaswegian institution label its distinct identity. The full anniversary compilation drops on May 25th, 2025. https://www.theransomnote.com/music/premieres/premiere-premiere-girls-chat-room-animal-mineral-vegetable-invisible-inc/ @invisible-inc
After the launch of Don't Starve, Canadian developer Klei Entertainment was on solid ground in every way. They'd put their hand to many genres and had been successful in pretty much all of them. We're going back to 2015 (or 2013, if you want to include this game's EARLY early access launch) when they revisited sneaking, but put a different spin on what they'd done before. We're talking Invisible, Inc.On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we chat a little bit about why this game changed its name, and what stealthy aspects they could explore here that they didn't in Mark of the Ninja. We also look at trying to enjoy the journey in difficult games, rather than just seeking the reward; and we chat about how much we enjoy early access vs its importance to devs. Here are some of the things you're gonna hear us chat about in our review: Soliton Radar: The Game; red, yellow, and blue EVERYWHERE; peeking around corners to uncover more of the map; Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine; a camera you don't have full control of; a procedurally-generated table that's just in the way; a slow and exhilarating chase; forecasting the movement of guards; five rewinds; single malt; the wonderfully-balanced and easy-to-use Incognita; Gunpoint; collections of boxy rooms with samey heists that blur together; finding the exit and then deciding what to do next; 72 hours; the auto thump; a ever-rising security level; Metal Gear Acid; breaking your pal out of their cell; an entirely irrelevant plot; some colour in character bios; and generating a campaign where a ko'd enemy stays down for 100 turns. After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether Invisible, Inc. is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Haunting Ground. on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS

Welcome back to another episode of NAFC! Brace yourselves, because this week, it's just Mox and Izzy running the show. Zea and Gibbs have decided to take a vacation (or perhaps an escape?), leaving our favorite duo to hold down the fort. For the entire month of July, it's just these two nerdy, jaded guys talking about all things geeky, with plenty of sarcastic banter to keep you entertained. In this episode, Mox and Izzy get back to the basics. They dive into their thoughts on the latest season of "The Bear" (spoiler alert: opinions will be flying). The two also unleash their inner weebs, passionately debating the merits of new anime like "Girls Band Cry," "DeDeDeDe," "Ultraman Rising," and "Suicide Squad ISEKAI." But that's not all! They also discuss their recent splurge on the Steam Summer Sale. Despite having a backlog of games so big it could rival the Great Wall, they couldn't resist adding more to their collection. Tune in for their takes on "Invisible Inc.," "Sea of Stars," "The Hong Kong Massacre," "V Rising," and more. Support us on Patreon!

Her huge bay window felt like a porthole to the entire world. From here she could see everything; the towering skyscrapers that seemed to stretch beyond the clouds, the trees in shades of green, white and pink rustling in the soft afternoon breeze, and in the distance, the sea and the mountains promising an escape from the urban jungle. She watched the people go about their days - watched them argue and make up, greet and bid each other goodbye, stumble and fall, race and disappear - How funny that one window gave a view of so much life.... After a long and chaotic journey to completion, Invisible Inc have finally released Secret Circuit's double LP, Green Mirror, into the world. Almost two years in the making, the album sees the return of the project of LA native and audiovisual artist Edward Ruscha V following two EPs on the imprint in 2016 and 2018. Known for his music under several different bands, projects, guises and collaborations over the years, he's a dab hand at meandering in all kinds of directions, but on this release he focuses on balancing emotion and experimentalism, creating a collection of 21 pieces that bounce between the cosmic, the ambient, the otherworldly and the off-kilter. This is music for the open minded.

Join James Cridland and Sam Sethi on this week's thought-provoking show about Spotify's new subscription service.NEWS:Spotify has announced their Paid Subscriptions service, which is hosted on Anchor. Spotify’s Paid Subscriptions tool sounds nice when compared with Apple - who can argue with free. But it isn’t quite as straightforward as that. Or, even, free. It’s not actually free. "My relationship with The Groovecollection started almost 10 years ago when I was asked to join the GC roster, along with several friends. Jerry was immensely kind, passionate, and proactive in his approach to supporting and growing a healthy, vibrant, scene. I have been lucky enough to provide a few guest mixes over the years, as well as contributing a remix, to the GC collective. When Jerry's brother, Remco, asked me to compile a guest mix for their Jan 2021 edition, I was truly humbled. Remco's passion, love, and kindness is a full mirror image and extension of Jerry, continuing Groovecollection with soul and deep commitment. The mix is hopefully an adequate homage to Jerry, Remco, and the Groovecollection family. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making it. Best, Nick" Tracklist 1.) Hello! So good to be back. My guest on today's episode is the amazing Mike Cook Mike is an AI researcher, the founder of #procjam (this year's even has just started so you should check it out.) and the creator of ANGELINA an AI system that makes video games. There's also a ton of great video game stories like the surprise LAN party he had for his 10th birthday, how Command & Conquer cracked open his mind, his mum keeping the secrets of Monkey Island to herself, his 1000s of hours with DOTA 2 and how the AI he created to create games reflects the games he creates himself. My guest today is Ken Levine, creative director and co-founder of Irrational and now Ghost Story Games, and the creative force behind some of the most iconic titles in video game history including System Shock 2, Thief and the Bioshock Series. We talk about the physical thrill of early mechanical games, his bad news bears-esque teenage deliquency - bumming smokes and playing arcades - his bumpy path into video game design via Hollywood and how the theatre prepared him for running a video game studio. We talk about why the original Castle Wolfenstein was so stressful, how obscure gem Herzog Zwei should get way more credit, why Rocksmith is one of the best games he's ever played and how the Legend of Zelda ruined a relationship.
