What's the best way to discover a profitable niche? Find something you already enjoy or have a good amount of knowledge about. Most people hate this advice.I suspect they want a different answer. They're looking for the undiscovered niche to help them get rich quickly. There are no tricks or secrets to uncovering a profitable niche or topic for your business.Everyone has an interest. That's your niche.Everyone knows a lot about one topic. That's your niche.Every niche can be profitable. The variable is not the topic; it's the person creating the business. The Fastest Way to Discover a Profitable NicheI've been practicing this technique since 2008. And it's the simplest exercise in the world.NOTE: Don't use a computer. Get a notebook or piece of paper and a pen. You must do this exercise by hand. No typing. I'll explain why later. Sit down for 5 minutes in every room in your home. Write down every significant product you see. Group products into obvious categories Cross out the dumb categories you know you'll never build a business around. Highlight categories that you could easily write about with no research. After performing this exercise, there will probably be only 1-3 ideas. If there are more, you're lying to yourself. Repeat steps four and five. You should now have your niche. No research is required. And there's an important reason not to open your computer during this exercise…Analysis Paralysis: The Reason You Struggle to Pick a NicheIf you follow my analog method of finding a niche, you'll want to research to see if there are good keywords. But I strongly urge you not to do that. This is exactly why you're struggling to pick a niche. You can research to uncover a “secret” niche or choose a familiar niche (using my analog method). But both paths can lead to two outcomes: insufficient keywords or too many (and therefore “saturated”).Researching a niche will kill your confidence. It might not, but I wouldn't take that chance. When I started my coffee website, I purposely didn't research shit. I knew that if I did, I would be discouraged. And as a result, do absolutely nothing.Broad Brand, Narrow NicheAnother way to avoid struggle is to go wide with your brand. I see too many first-time entrepreneurs box themselves into a corner.Your brand doesn't have to be the niche. It doesn't have to be anything. It can be nonsense. The niche doesn't need to be part of the domain name. Domains don't matter for SEO anymore. They haven't for a long time.Think about Amazon. That word has NOTHING to do with selling everything in the world. It's just a word. But now you know exactly what they do.Amazon is a broad brand that started with a narrow niche: books.Once they mastered selling books, they expanded into other niches or categories. You can do the same thing.I have a niche site around the topic of homebrewing beer. I named the brand BREW Cabin. Not BEER Cabin. Why?I gave myself room to expand the brand. I can discuss brewing coffee, tea, kombucha, whiskey, and witch potions. There Are NO Saturated NichesThink your niche is saturated? You're wrong. Nothing's saturated. If your market is “saturated,” doesn't that imply there's more juice to squeeze? You must carve out a space to stand out. And the best way to do that is to be your fucking self. Get started now and develop your voice.Write your own content. You can always hire later when you earn enough money to afford a writer. The first niche site I ever started was Swim University in 2006. I still run it today. It was something I knew because it was my first summer job. It wasn't sexy or “profitable.” It wasn't a secret undiscovered niche through keyword research.I wasn't the first to start a pool website, and I won't be the last. It was saturated then, and it's saturated now.And yet I'm still doing it.You're procrastinating because you want to be 100% sure your idea will work. You don't want to be wrong or waste years of your life. But remember…It's not the topic; it's the person creating the business. You'll be the only reason it doesn't work. You must be willing to invest time and money to make it work.“There are no bad ideas; only great ideas that go horribly wrong.”– Jack Donaghy (30 Rock)The 4-Year Profitable Business PlanDespite what lying marketing gurus tell you, building a business takes a long time. You won't be an overnight success. You won't make money fast. The stories you've read are probably bullshit or extreme outliers. Take them with a big ass grain of salt.I've witnessed thousands of people building businesses around me. And there's one thing I've noticed…It takes most people about four years to make good money with their online business. They must learn, try, and fail until they finally get it right. It's the nature of the beast.Think of it like getting a college degree. But instead, you make money instead of going into debt.I'd take that trade any day.In other words, you have to stay focused on one thing to gain traction. The Power of One: Protect Yourself Against Shiny Object SyndromeThings were moving too slowly when I first started my website in 2006. I wasn't making money fast enough. So I started 10 more niche sites.Instead of putting all my eggs in one basket, I'd hedge my bets. Increase my chances of one of them paying off. It's diversifying! Sounds smart, right? This is considered good advice in some circles. Let me be straight with you: it's the worst fucking advice you'll ever hear. The better way forward is committing to a single brand, one niche, and diversifying your revenue streams.Stick with any niche long enough and give it your best shot. I promise it'll pay off.Once it pays off, you can scale by adding more niches and revenue streams to your broad brand. The Perfect Niche Was Inside You All AlongYour profitable niche is right in front of you. You already know it. The reason you're struggling is that you don't believe in it.But let me tell you. I've been doing this shit forever. It doesn't matter which topic you choose.I could take any item in my home and turn it into a website or brand. Because I spent 20 years working on ONE niche.I picked it and fucking did it.And I can teach you to do it in way less time. But I can't help you pick a niche. You have to do that yourself. Only you know yourself.I can help you brand it. I can help you do keyword research. I can help you monetize. And if you want to move on to something else, I can help you sell it.I've done all these things. Join Money Lab Pro to get access to all my business training and a community of like-minded entrepreneurs building long-term businesses just like you.The most important part about building a long-lasting business is caring more about your niche than your competitors. You'll win every time.Business Stick-to-itivenessThat's how you discover a profitable niche in 5 minutes. My goal with this is to convince you to go for it.You will doubt yourself. You'll second guess your decision all the time. But that's normal. What's abnormal is sticking with it. 99% of people won't do this. And they fail. However, if you stick with it, you can't fail. Keep learning, keep growing, and keep getting better. You'll have a successful long-term business.Hope this was helpful. Now stop reading, stop procrastinating, pick a goddamn niche already, and build something worth consuming.
Episode 101: Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It -- Wenger, Brian, and Paul discuss the last three Mission: Impossible movies. Meh - the Kremlin gets blown up, but how can Alec Baldwin ever not be seen as Jack Donaghy?
We know you're beeeesy but we implore you to listen to this week's episode because we are finally talking about Jenna Maroney and the Moms of 30 Rock! We long for the golden age of the Thursday night NBC lineup where 30 Rock was one third of 'The Office' and 'Parks and Recreation' Holy Trinity. We then queen on out two episodes where we are simply overwhelmed at the lady power of guest spots that includes Jan Hooks, Patti Lupone, and Elaine Stritch. We take a moment to acknolwedge the fay Jack Donaghy, Julianne Moore's unfortunate arc as one of Jack's old flames, and Jan Hooks' iconic delivery of, "I've got the meat, Jack." These two episodes have both of us singing "Do it to me one more time." '30 Rock's Jack Donaghy once said, "Never go with a hippie to a second location." In 1997, a man named Gregory Montgomery defied that advice, and then some — not only did he go to a baseball game with a hippie, he also flew to Reno and got married to her, all within 24 hours. And that's just the first five minutes of 'Dharma & Greg,' Chuck Lorre's spirited comedy about two opposites who fall in love, and deal with the fall-out between their mismatched families. It's the subject of our latest episode, in which Allison and Kate dive into the very under-covered history of the series, including how anger, surprisingly, was the main inspiration behind the entire show. So grab your yoga mat and enjoy the story of 'Dharma & Greg'!

On2cook is the world's fastest at-home cooking device. How it WorksIt works on the revolutionary Combination Cooking Technology which simultaneously combines induction, heat, and microwaves to cut your cooking time by up to 70% and reduce energy consumption by up to 40%. If this idea sounds familiar, you must be a fan of 30 Rock, because it's very similar to the Trivection Oven that was introduced by Jack Donaghy on the show. The best part of On2cook? This one's real! Not only does this product make it possible for anyone to be able to cook a healthy meal in just minutes but it also preserves water-soluble nutrients, retains color and texture as well as consistency.At-Home UseEveryone has a night where they think, "Maybe I'll just order out because I can't be bothered to cook." But ordering Uber Eats or DoorDash is expensive adds up quickly. With On2cook, you get the speed of delivery with the cost and quality of home cooking. This device, which is slightly larger than an air fryer and looks similar to a waffle maker, can serve multiple purposes. It can be used as a traditional oven. It can be used as a convection oven. It can be used as an air fryer. It can even be used as a microwave. It can prepare rice in just 5 minutes, or chicken in just 15 minutes. With the Ai-powered app, you can get recommendations on how to use it better. It's also able to go the other way and replace slow-cookers. It can be set to slow cook, replacing a crockpot or sous vide cooker. The On2cook also improves energy efficiency. The device is able to produce faster results and still uses 40% less energy to get the job done. All without losing the nutritional value of the food.Because everything is self-contained, it also means less mess to clean up. There's no splashing or massive cleanup.Commercial UseOn2cook isn't just for the home kitchen. The device can also be deployed in commercial kitchens, improving efficiency and costs. However, if the chef wants to determine the specs on their own, that's possible, too. It's also perfect for a portable kitchen, like a food truck. For a truck that takes orders and delivers the food to a location, the driver can set the cookers to prepare the food and, while it's cooking, you can drive to the destination. For stationary food trucks, you could be preparing several meals at the same time, as opposed to a more one-on-one ordering process.On2cook will address all gaps in the kitchen that impact work efficiencies, such as time management, recipe management, and ordering of ingredients.SummaryThe company expects the On2cook to be available on the market within the next 6 months, pending certifications. F Boy? F Hi! It's the HBO Max reality show that sounds like a “30 Rock” subplot that culminates in Jack Donaghy winning sweeps week — but it's so, so real. And thank F for that. We're recapping the first three episodes of the season with the hosts of Watch What Crappens, Ben Mandelker and Ronnie Karam. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What would YOU do to protect your foot babies and save your save show at 30 Rock? When Liz is in desperate need of bunion surgery, she finally gets the surgery as Hazel steps in to be her go-to assistant, one who surely has no agenda; like getting on TGS to become a breakout star. Will Liz get the recuperation she and her feet need? Elsewhere, when Jack becomes the butt of many jokes in the African-American community, if forces he and Tracy into a "who's more accomplished" and legal challenge when Jack learns of his likeness being used in Tracy's films. Will Jack perpetuate the stereotype his caricature is made out to be, or will good win out in the end? Finally, Jenna, still seeking to ensure Hazel has no way into the entertainment business, turns to Kenneth to get him on her side, but will her narcissism and lack of empathy spoiler her chances? Yes, yes they will! So don't forget to take your tires with you, change your feet bandages every few hours, and most importantly: respect these boobies, on a brand new Go To There! Welcome to another episode of Queen of Jordan with Curtis and David, continuing our breakdown of every Queen of Jordan episode, with this week's episode: Mystery of the Phantom Pooper. This week, as Angie is readying her new fashion line, NBC executive Jack Donaghy seems to be interfering in her planning when he's more concerned with his hostage wife returning than her fashion show. Additionally, will Tracy be able to give Angie what she wants to make her night truly memorable, or merely good? Elsewhere, Lisa Lampanelli(?) is a sub-babysitter for Angie and Tracy's baby Virginia, but when one small verbal flub lands Liz in hot water with the baby, can she rectify the beef and stop being rude? Finally, TGS co-star, Jenna Maroney is all over this week's events struggling to be a part of the story. Will she get her way, or is too much Maroney a bad thing? So grab your D'wfan throwing wine, book your flight to Somalia, and head to 30 Rock for a fashion show served with all of Costco's pierogies and Burger King as we Go To There! American politics have long served as inspiration for movies, plays, and especially television -- from fictional shows like “The West Wing” to late-night comedy shows. For a lot of people, those shows have become a major source of information when it comes to our government, political system, and the state of the world. In this episode, we hear from three people who have been front and center in bringing politics into our living rooms and beyond. Hillary talks with Samantha Bee, host of the comedy show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, which tackles under-reported but hugely important stories in the news with biting humor. Then, Hillary is joined by Kerry Washington, star of the Emmy-award winning show Scandal, to talk about how no one—not even Olivia Pope—holds as much power as ordinary citizens do when it comes to bringing about political change. Lastly, Hillary talks to Alec Baldwin, who has finally been released from his stint playing Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. Samantha Bee is a comedian and the host of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on TBS. She was previously the longest-serving correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She also hosts the podcast Full Release with Samantha Bee. Kerry Washington is an actress, producer, and director known for her role as Washington fixer Olivia Pope in ABC’s Scandal, and as Anita Hill in the HBO political thriller Confirmation, both of which have garnered her numerous awards. She recently served as an executive producer on The Fight, a documentary film revolving around the legal battles of ACLU lawyers during the Trump administration. Washington is also a dedicated advocate on behalf of racial justice, voting rights, and more. Alec Baldwin is an actor and writer who starred as Jack Donaghy in NBC’s 30 Rock and frequently portrayed Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. He has written three books: A Promise to Ourselves; his memoir, Nevertheless; and, with Kurt Andersen, the Donald Trump parody You Can’t Spell America Without Me. Alec is also the host of the iHeart Radio podcast Here’s the Thing. Read a full transcript here.
Welcome to QOJ with Curtis and David as we tackle the latest episode of the hit reality show: "Queen of Jordan"! As Angie's new single "My Single Is Dropping" is dropping prepares its launch party, 30 Rock employees Jack Donaghy and Liz Lemon aim to use it as an excuse to convince her husband, Tracy to return to 30 Rock and TGS. Meanwhile, TGS star Jenna Maroney is continuously waging war with QOJ stars and Portia steps in to help her with her seeming alcohol abuse, but will Jeena accept the help of those who care for her and their intervention? Additionally, as Randi is ready to share her own news, she decides to help TGS writer Frank Rossitano reunite with a teacher, Lynn Onkman (Susan Sarandon) who took advantage of him (look, there's no really nice way to describe this horrific storyline, we apologize) when he was her student. WIll love renew, or has Frank's arrested development caused him too much damage? Finally, D'Fwan thinks Kabletown executive Jack Donaghy might be batting for the same team and aims to open him up to his world, but D'Fwan may not be ready for what Jack's coming to the game with. There is plenty of wine-throwing, name-calling, and betrayal in this week's Queen of Jordan, so grab your HAY-UM and join Go To There as we piece together this beloved classic episode. Are we all destined for love, are we all looking for somebody to love, or all we all secretly turning in our neighbors to Homeland Security because non-white people terrify us? This 30 Rock episode tackles all of these questions as more as Fred Armisen, Edie Falco, and Kristen Wiig round out a stellar ensemble cast in episode rife with relatively terrible characterization of Liz Lemon but great growth for Jack Donaghy. Somebody to Love is a small speed bump in the road of 30 Rock's second season, but there are still some laughs to be found within. Elsewhere Kenneth's party quickly begins to gain traction a rumors spread as it will be he can't-miss party of the year. 2010: Luis Guzman is the secret weapon behind HBO’s new comedy series, “How To Make It in America.” He is its Alec Baldwin—you know, Jack Donaghy on “30 Rock”—or, in an even more apt comparison, he is its Jeremy Piven, who plays Ari Gold in “Entourage.” Cousin Rene, the somewhat reformed, Dominican gangsta Guzman plays, isn’t in every scene of this show from “Entourage” creator Mark Wahlberg. But, like Piven, whenever he’s in a scene, he commands your attention. No color is as brig

Welcome to the Hall of Faces, The Spool's monthly TV podcast! A spinoff of the short-lived Consequence of Sound podcast TV Party, Hall of Faces sees hosts and TV critics Allison Shoemaker and Clint Worthington build up a pantheon of television's greatest characters, one show at a time. For our very first episode, Allison and Clint are joined by guests Kate Kulzick of The Televerse and Kris Vire, formerly of Time Out Chicago, to talk about Tina Fey's incredible NBC sitcom 30 Rock! Running from 2006 to 2013, 30 Rock offered up a witty, satirical spin on Fey's tenure as head writer of Saturday Night Live, quickly turning into one of TV comedy's most consistent and uproarious joke delivery systems. Warping the ins and outs of a sketch comedy show set in 30 Rockefeller Plaza into high-concept farce of the highest order, Fey and co. also managed to craft a cast of TV's most wonderful characters, from Fey's high-strung Liz Lemon, to Tracy Morgan's gut-bustingly bizarre star Tracy Jordan, to Alec Baldwin's hard-edged ultracapitalist Jack Donaghy. Which character makes the cut? Liz? Jack? Jenna Maroney? Kenneth Parcell? Tangiers, the super-gay lion? Take a listen and find out! Hall of Faces is a proud member of the Chicago Podcast Coop. We return to 30 Rock again for its 4th episode but discover that this episode perhaps was written by Jack Donaghy. A disconnected series of A (Jack and Liz's friendship), B (Kenneth and Tracy's friendship), and C (Cerie's workplace attire) plots, that would be solid standalone episodes, combine into a lackluster final product. But Jonathan finally gets his first line of the series, so it's not all bad! As always, if you'd like to donate for production costs, website hosting, etc, hit up our Ko-Fi link to do so. Frenemies Lila and Jessica think they're duking it out over a secret scion, romantically masquerading as a construction worker. Marissa and her guest, actor Mark Sullivan, walk you through it all, from the poolside objectification to the final knife fight. Yep, you read that right. Knife fight. A thriving bizarre comedy that survived seven seasons saw it’s final curtain on January 31, 2013, with an episode some called “perfect” and others called “meh.” We see Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy reverse roles, a meteoric rise for everyone’s favorite NBC page and a deus ex contract obligation that brings the whole gang back together. Emily Mortimer is perhaps best known for her role as MacKenzie McHale in Aaron Sorkin's beloved HBO series “The Newsroom.” Some of her other memorable performances are in Woody Allen's “March Point,” Martin Scorsese's “Shutter Island” and “Hugo” and as Phoebe, Jack Donaghy's love interest, on the NBC series “30 Rock.” In this hour she talks extensively about one particular, powerful scene in her breakout film, Nicole Holofcener's “Lovely & Amazing” (which earned her an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress), and about what it was like to play a character named “Emily Mortimer” in her HBO series “Doll & Em.” Plus, of course, we talk SORKIN. And before you run to see Ms. Mortimer in the eagerly anticipated “Mary Popins Returns” at the end of the year, be sure to catch her in the charming Isabelle Coixet film “The Bookshop,” opposite Bill Nighy and Patricia Clarkson, this Summer.
Alec Baldwin inhabits Donald Trump on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Bradley Whitford spent years in ‘The West Wing.’ Here’s what their time with fake presidents tells them about the real one.
Holy ghosts, Batman! That's right, we're watching Beetlejuice, starring Batman, and Jack Donaghy. Sure, it's technically November now, but it's always Halloween in our hearts. Starring Nick Keller, Ash Blodgett, Bret Eagleston, and Samantha Willson
The Boss Baby star Alec Baldwin is no stranger to playing the boss which makes him the perfect choice to voice The Boss Baby. Who can forget his hilarious right-wing take on Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock? His back-and-forth with Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) is TV legend. And now he can add a tiny baby with a big attitude to that list in The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby tells the story of Seven-year-old Tim Templeton as he suddenly finds his share of parental love plummeting when his new baby brother (Alec Baldwin) arrives — wearing a suit and toting a briefcase — and makes it clear to everyone that he’s in charge. But when Tim discovers that Boss Baby is on a secret mission, he reluctantly agrees to team up with his pint-sized sibling for an epic adventure that might just change the world! The film is ultimately an adventure-comedy about family and belonging. In addition to Alec Baldwin, THE BOSS BABY features the voice talents of a stellar cast including Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Miles Bakshi and Tobey Maguire. Alec explained the process of how he got the role of The Boss Baby. As you can imagine, he doesn't have to audition for parts these days. He is offered pretty big roles and has to say "no" to a lot of projects because there isn't enough time to fit it all in. An actors dream right? But I can tell you he is very humble about his role as an A list celebrity and fatherhood has played a part in that. He says he approached this animated role as he would any other film. Alec really took the time to find a character for this film and says the biggest challenge was finding the character again even when the recording sessions were weeks apart. Sometimes they would go up to 12 weeks between recording sessions when making The Boss Baby. As an actor I loved hearing him talk about the preparation that went into creating this character. He says he worked with producers to find the right voice, and develop a character for The Boss Baby. But before we could get too deep into the analysis of the Boss Baby character he remarked that he realizes this isn't Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman. It's easy to get too actory when talking about roles but I love that he keeps things in perspective. I wanted to know how his perspective on work has changed since he became a father. His oldest daughter Ireland is 21 from his marriage to actress Kim Basinger and he has three other children, 3-year-old Carmen, 2-year-old Rafael and 9-month-old Leonardo, with his wife Hilaria. Listen to the episode to hear what he says has made the biggest difference and who he says is the real boss baby in his family. It was such a pleasure listening to such an accomplished actor reveal some of his insights on the acting process and filmmaking process. The Boss Baby has made almost $500 million at the box office proving that Alec Baldwin truly is the boss on-screen, at home and at the box office. Dreamworks' The Boss Baby stars Alec Baldwin, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy Kimmel, Toby Maguire and Steve Buscemi. Now you can watch The Boss Baby on Digital HD (Amazon, iTunes) and buy it on Blu-Ray/DVD on July 25th to see just how boss The Boss Baby is. Today's Guest: Maulik Pancholy, actor, "30 Rock," "Whitney," "Weeds" Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of Kabletown personal assistants vying to replace Jonathan for Jack Donaghy’s… attentions… in the NEW new media capitol of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! Maulik Pancholy's '30 Rock' character Jonathan is not done with Alec Baldwin yet. (Photo by: Ali Goldstein/NBC) As trade-ups go, it’s hard to beat Maulik Pancholy’s change of scenery. He’s just graduated from recurring character Jonathan on “30 Rock” to Neal, a sensitive renaissance man on the new NBC sitcom “Whitney, starring comedian Whitney Cummings. It airs on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m., sandwiched tightly between “The Office” and “30 Rock.” WHITNEY -- Season:1 -- Pictured: (l-r) Maulik Pancholy as Neal, Rhea Seehorn as Roxanne, Zoe Lister-Jones as Lily, Whitney Cummings as Whitney Cummings, Chris D'Elia as Alex Miller, Dan O'Brien as Mark (Photo by: Mitchell Haaseth/NBC) MAULIK PANCHOLY audio excerpt: "Both shows are NBC shows so there's a really good chance you're going to see Jonathan back on '30 Rock.'" It’s worth noting that he’s also moved from one of the few network sitcoms created and produced by – and starring – a strong woman. At “30 Rock,” it was Tina Fey, now it’s Whitney Cummings. He also appeared on “Weeds” a few years ago selling pot for Mary Louise Parker’s character. It’s nice to see the kid from Tampa’s Berkley Preparatory School continue his upward march to world domination. This is Maulik’s second visit to Mr. Media. This week is the first of our episodes from INBOUND 2016. First up is Alec Baldwin -- actor, comedian, and most recently, Donald Trump impersonator on Saturday Night Live. In this episode, he tells us why the role of Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock was the best job he’s ever had, how he prepared to play Trump, and why he almost didn’t take the gig in the first place. This episode features the song “Can't Shake You” by Mise, available under a Creative Commons Attribution license.
merritt and guest Eve Peyser conduct a comparative dadnalysis of 30 Rock's Jack Donaghy and his contemporaries.
We took a look at one of our favorite shows 30 Rock. Both the script and the show are filled with joke after joke, and the pilot script gives you a real glimpse into what it was like writing for Saturday Night Live. Created by Tina Fey 30 Rock is filled with unbelievable and unbelievably funny characters Tracy Jordan, Jenna Maroney, Kenneth Parcell, Pete Hornsberger, Frank Rossitano and the venerable Jack Donaghy. Perhaps the biggest change on the show was the character of Jenna initially written for and played by Rachel Dratch in the test pilot. Network executives apparently did not want Dratch in a lead role and the role was given to Jane Krakowski. Jane loved the idea of being Jenna Maroney as it gave her a chance to sing and dance on a sitcom, something unseen since Ally McBeal (1997). 30 Rock racked up an impressive number of awards during its 7 year run. In 2008 it won 17 Emmy's for a Comedy (the most ever in that year), and 22 statues in 2009 (the most ever in that year.) Alec Baldwin won a SAG award for every year he played Jack Donaghy something no other actor in a drama or a comedy show has ever done (Credit: IMDB).
