Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature | Bioneers Radio Series
Erosion and evolution. Shadow and light. Death and rebirth. These are some of the strands that the acclaimed author, naturalist and activist Terry Tempest Williams weaves together in the face of today's broken world. Standing in the lineage of the greatest nature writers, she links her deepest inner experiences with the state of the web of life. In this program, Williams asks: How do we find the strength to not look away at all that is breaking our hearts? Hands on the earth, we remember where the source of our authentic power comes from. We have to go deeper. She also explores histories of privilege, religion, and identity in Utah, and how reconciling her experiences with these cultural strands have helped unleash and shape her voice as a storyteller who translates the voice of nature and speaks for justice. Featuring Terry Tempest Williams, one of the greatest living authors from the American West, is also a longtime award-winning conservationist and activist, who has taken on, among other issues, nuclear testing, the Iraq War, the neglect of women's health, and the destruction of nature, especially in her beloved “Red Rock” region of her native Utah and in Alaska. The Boyz have spent many a ‘Hard Days Night' over these last few years in Homan Studio “A” pontificating on all manner of subjects, which have produced a stockpile of recordings. Not everything makes the grade for release to the world. Only those recordings that tickle-the-entire-team in the studio are produced into a Hamlin Avenue Boyz Album of tracks. No matter the weather, most often The Boyz arrive late in the evening parking in the darkened alley behind the studio. They come ready to enjoy each other's company, the company of the studio staff and with an almost ‘ceremonial' approach - the entire team will imbibe in some select herb. Only then do they signal the engineer with a ‘thumbs up' to hit the record button and capture the come-what-may moments with the help of the always dependable studio staff of support. This scene continues sometimes through the night. On this particular late-night, along with the many other unusual subjects of discussion, the Boyz got on a tangent that was quite surprising to say the least. As an example - ‘Dirty Feet'. That's right we did just say that. Anything and everything related to da feet. Who knew there was so much to say. Who knew the younger generation generally doesn't like the idea of feet or looking at them. At all. Who knew there was a solid reason for so much feet washing in biblical times. Feet had to have been real freakin dirty back then right? And who knew Vince does not want anyone touching his feet. “Nobody”! To quote an iconic audio artist from the past, Biggie Smalls (Notorious B.I.G.) “And If you don't know. Now you know….” So, enjoy you some ‘Dirty Feet'. As always, thank you for pointing your ears in this direction now and then and for all your communications to the show. And we do mean ‘all'. We encourage you (if the feeling arises) to send the Boyz your comments, questions, or hypotheticals. “It was a fire. It was really a fire because it was a razor's edge. All of sudden there are these huge groups. And if I identified even the slightest negatively or positively…I am sliced on this razor I am living on. It was really a necessary fire. I had to be quiet. I had to be still.” This month we share the soundtrack to a special 30th anniversary video honoring the community of volunteers and donors. The video begins with Gangaji's first meeting with Papaji in 1990. After Gangaji speaks about her earliest experiences of teaching, we see what unfolded through community efforts in the years that followed. Includes featured music from Jami Sieber, Kirtana, and Amber Terrell. To watch the video version or learn more about Gangaji and the Gangaji Foundation visit gangaji.org.

The words of Langston Hughes, Stanley Kunitz, Marie Howe, Ellen Bass, Lucille Clifton, W.S. Merwin, Deena Metzger, Mark Nepo, Yehuda Amichai, and Mary Oliver, spoken by Kim, rise and fall in the evocative waves of Jami's original music. This unique creation, born of 21 years of collaboration between Jami and Kim, masterfully merges the power of evocative music to melt the heart with the medicine of poetry to open the mind. The result is a transformational listening experience like no other. The spoken voice moves through multiple layers of music to create an utterly immersive soundscape at once, entrancing and awakening. Musical artists Hans Teuber, Nancy Rumbel, Sean Woolstenhulme, Greg Campbell weave their gifts into the soundscape of Jami Sieber's cello in tracks to carry the listener from heartbreak to humor, from contemplation to irresistible, foot-stomping celebration.Jami and Kim have been facilitating explorations of the difficult, necessary themes of aging, death, and waking up for many years. In all of our other shows, we have talked about creative practice and how you develop your own voice, your own identity, how you make your own creative mark. And in today's episode, we speak with poet and performer and teacher Kim Rosen, who will guide in thinking about the opposite–how we might let go of our creative identities as we age, and why that is essential work. Kim Rosen, M.F.A., author of Saved by a Poem: The Transformative Power of Words, has awakened listeners around the world to the power of poetry to heal, awaken and disarm individuals and communities. She is a poet, spoken word artist, ritualist, and guide of inner exploration. Her current passion is weaving poetry, music, teaching and self-inquiry to invite us to turn towards aging, death and letting go. Her upcoming Fall audio release, Feast of Losses, is a collaboration on the same theme with cellist Jami Sieber. She is the co-creator of several recordings of spoken poems and music and her writing has been published in The Sun Magazine, O Magazine,The Texas Review and Spirituality and Health Magazine. In 2007, she spoke a poem to a group of Maasai girls in Kenya who had fled FGM and Early Childhood Marriage, and that moment became the seed of the Safe House Education (S.H.E.) Fund. www.kimrosen.net www.shecollegefund.orgFalling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr Talk at Science and Nonduality Conference: This is a public episode. For centuries, music has been used to lead listeners into deep, quiet meditative states. The goal of this music is healing, self-realization and spiritual communion. The 20th and 21st centuries have seen a steady growth of popular music to calm our hyper-stimulated nervous systems and support inner experience. Whether it's the sublime adagios of early classical music, the simple, consonant tonalities of New Age, the sophisticated orchestrations of contemporary sacred minimalism, or the expansive spatial experiences of ambient — we seek the pleasures and benefits of psychoactive sound. On this transmission of Hearts of Space from longtime guest producer for classical and sacred music ELLEN HOLMES, a program called CONTEMPLATIONS, featuring music by MAX RICHTER, plus HANS ZIMMER, JAMI SIEBER, DIETRICH BUXTEHUDE, SIEUR de SAINTE-COLOMBE, ANTONIO VIVALDI, JORDI SAVALL & HESPERIAN XXI. In this episode, Laura Chandler takes a look back over the past year of interviews, revisiting key moments with inspiring guests that include renowned channel Paul Selig, activist and former nun Margarita Melville, and the exquisite electric cellist Jami Sieber. And you’ll also hear some new conversations with Robert Thurman and Lama Tsultrim Allione. It features music from some of the great musicians that have been on the show, including Grammy nominee and future guest Barbara Higbie, world music vocalist Lisa Kelman, the monks of Gaden Shartse Dokhang, Jami Sieber (featuring the elephants of the Thai Elephant Orchestra), and NuJazz artists The Allure (with guest vocalist Isa Gucciardi). This episode begins with eighty-eight-year-old activist and former nun Margarita Melville, who in the 1960s, left the Maryknoll sisters to join the Guatemalan resistance, and was dubbed “The Guerrilla Nun.” After barely escaping with her life, she and her husband, former Maryknoll priest Tom Melville, joined a group of activists in the US and became part of a famous civil action known as the Catonsville Nine. Here she talks about her escape from Guatemala and the action that sent her to prison. Lama Tsultrim Allione talks to Laura about her experience of the death of one of her teachers, the great Tibetan Dzogchen master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. He died on September 27, 2018 and is said to have entered a state known as tugdum. Best-selling author and channel Paul Selig had a spiritual experience 25 years ago that left him clairvoyant. Nine years ago, he began channeling a group he refers to as “The Guides.” In this segment, he talks about his role as a channel and the awareness of the Divine. Jami Sieber talks about her time in Thailand and her first mystical encounter meeting and playing music with the Thai Elephant Orchestra, which became the inspiration for her album, Hidden Sky. And in the final segment, Laura catches up with Robert Thurman at the Science and Non-Duality Conference in San Jose. They talk about one of his favorite subjects, nothing.
In part two of this two-part interview, Laura Chandler is joined by the multi-talented composer, singer, and electric cellist, Jami Sieber. Jami creates lush soundscapes using her voice and the cello through a process called “looping.” She tours national and internationally, and her compositions have appeared in film, television and the critically acclaimed video game, Braid. On this episode, Jami discusses her spiritual path, working with sound healing, and the tours she leads to elephant sanctuaries in Thailand. We feature music from Jami’s album, Hidden Sky, inspired by her work with The Thai Elephant Orchestra.
On this episode, Laura Chandler is joined by the multi-talented composer, singer, and electric cellist, Jami Sieber. Jami creates lush soundscapes using her voice and the cello through a process called “looping” that turns her solo instrument into an orchestra of heart-opening sound. Since launching her solo career in 1994, she has performed throughout the Europe, Asia, and North America to rave reviews. Her compositions have appeared in film and television and the critically acclaimed video game, Braid. In part one of this two-part interview with Jami, we discuss her early work in the award-winning pop-rock band, Rumors of the Big Wave, a socially conscious band that came of age during the aids epidemic in the 1980s. She also talks about her solo career, as well as her dedication to social activism, the environment, and her relationship to music, spirit, and the creative process. We are featuring music from Jami’s album, Hidden Sky, inspired by her invitation to meet and play music with The Thai Elephant Orchestra in Thailand. She describes the experience as a mystical collaboration that awakened her to the inherent connection underlying all that appears separate. For in the midst of the sheer joy that permeates life with the elephants, you must also live with the constant grief of their captivity and possible extinction. Hidden Sky is a devotional portrait that embodies both. To really experience Jami’s music, you have to immerse yourself in it, and in this episode you’ll have the opportunity to do just that.
On this episode, host Laura Chandler catches up with acclaimed author and channel Paul Selig in the offices of Smoothjazz Global, in Monterey, CA. Paul was in town for an extended teaching schedule at The Esalen Institute in Big Sur. He was near the end of his five-week stint when he and Laura got together to discuss his latest book, The Book of Truth, his approach to channeling, and how it all started. Paul’s channeling style is unique. He makes it clear that what comes through him is not him, but a group of Guides with their very own agenda. His books are channeled and published verbatim with no editing, except for spelling errors. The rapidity at which the material comes through Paul, and the palpable energy in the room when he channels, has convinced many people of his authenticity. In this interview, the Guides make an unexpected appearance to answer a question Laura asked Paul about the work. Paul is a writer, empath, and, conscious channel. He received his Master’s Degree from Yale and served on the faculty of NYU for over 25 years. A spiritual experience in 1987 left him clairvoyant. Deepak Chopra describes his work as, “authentic, straightforward truth straight from the source field.” For more information about Paul, visit his website, paulselig.com. The featured musical guest is award-winning composer, vocalist, and electric cellist, Jami Sieber. Jami creates gorgeous sonic landscapes that have earned her fans across the globe. She tours nationally and internationally, and her work has been featured in films and in the popular video game, Braid. Find out more about Jami on her website, jamisieber.com.

It seems we are on a roll. We hope you had a great holiday and that 2014 was a great year for you! At home for the holidays, Auntie Bunnie, stopped by the Wigglian Way studio to talk with us about the paper she wrote for her program at Canterbury. The program is called Myth, Cosmology, and the Sacred and is the only one of it's kind. Tune in to find out more... Mojo thought that since Auntie is a classic Lady (been in the Craft for a long time) that we would play classic pagan music this episode. The Feature Album is Lady Isadora:Priestess of the Pentacle and from that we hear, Priestess of the Pentacle, Witches Brew Blues, and Wintery Skies. We also hear one of Sparrow's favourites from way back, Gypsy with Lady from the album Enchantress. To round out our musical selection for the episode, we have chosen for your enjoyment, Charlie Murphy and Jami Sieber with Calling on the Spirits from Canticles of the Light. Thank for walking The Wigglian Way!

The latest podcast from www.bordersofsleep.com. This one is a "fairy tale" ... well ... it does have fairies in it but it may not be "happily ever after" in the quite the same way as most fairy tales end. You will also hear about two letters, and two wars, and two sworn enemies, but most of all you'll hear about two handkerchiefs. The soundtrack contains music by Jami Sieber, available from magnatune.com. Story by Seymour Jacklin, artwork by Robyn Trainer and production by Tim Wiles.

Hail Wigglians! Thanks so much for downloading the show. After a month away, we're back in the saddle! Tonight prompted by some listener email, we talk about herbology and inter faith-marriages. Two of the links that were used for reference are here and here. Tonight's feature album is Metamorphoses by Seattle based Trillian Green. We saw them at FaerieWorlds, what a great set they did. They will be playing the Good Faeries Ball on Jan. 30/09, in Eugene, OR. From Metamorphoses we hear, Gasworks and Kudzu and we end the show with Kuruk Setra. During the second set of music we get our Yuletide started with Winter Born King, from Castalia's In Plain Sight and Light is Returning from Canticles of Light by Charlie Murphy and Jami Sieber. Here's some SJ Tucker news for everyone. She has an up coming gig on Dec. 31 in Oklahoma City and she'll be here in the Pacific Northwest playing with Tricky Pixie at the Bad Faerie's Ball, Jan. 31 in Eugene, OR. We are planning to be in the house for that one! You can also take a trian ride with Sooj! March 19-23, listen for more details! Also yet more exciting news on the SJ front, she is now working on a new tour called The Traveling Fates. Thanks so much for all the emails, votes and comments! This has been an incredible year for us and it's all due to you! We are truely Blessed! It's all about the Love!
