The political landscape has undergone a seismic transformation over the past three decades, and few understand this evolution better than Eric Lems. From his early days as a White House intern during the Clinton administration to his current role as Executive Director of the Maricopa County Democratic Party, Lems offers a rare perspective on how technology has revolutionized campaign strategy.Remember when campaigns meant phone banks with physical landlines and CNN dominated the 24-hour news cycle? Lems walks us through the remarkable journey from those analog days to our current era of sophisticated data analytics and targeted digital media. He explains how Howard Dean pioneered online fundraising, Obama mastered internet organizing, and Trump revolutionized digital targeting—creating the integrated approach campaigns use today. What makes Maricopa County so politically significant? As the fourth largest county in America and second largest voting jurisdiction, Maricopa stands alone among major metropolitan areas as a true battleground. With nearly 5 million residents spread across diverse communities ranging from wealthy gated neighborhoods to farmlands, winning here is essential to winning Arizona. Lems reveals how migration patterns from the Midwest, Northeast, and California have gradually transformed the state from reliably Republican to competitively purple.Drawing from his Fortune 500 background at Microsoft and SAP, Lems shares how corporate leadership skills translate to political strategy—and crucially, which corporate habits to leave behind. He emphasizes that trust forms the foundation of effective campaign teams, creating an environment where candidates can be vulnerable and weather disagreements. The most valuable lesson from his 2016 Clinton campaign experience? "Never take victory for granted and keep your foot on the gas until you cross the finish line."As concerns about election integrity dominate political discourse, Lems provides reassurance by revealing the bipartisan verification process that occurs before every election and the dedicated civil servants who ensure fair results regardless of personal political views. He warns that the real threats come through legislative efforts to restrict voting access—making vigilance and participation essential to preserving our democratic system.Ready to get involved or learn more about local organizing? Assaults On Kids, Intervention and Investigations, His Experience. Retired Georgia Detective Shares the Harsh Truth About Investigations Into Assaults On Kids. In a recent interview on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, which is available for free on their website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast platforms. It is also promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium, retired Georgia law enforcement officer Bryan McRee opened up about his harrowing experience investigating assaults and sex assaults on kids, a career focus he never anticipated but ultimately became his calling. With 25 years in law enforcement, Bryan's journey took him from a city Police Department to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office in south-central Georgia, where he served as a Detective. It was there that he found himself pulled into the darkest aspects of crime: investigations into child sexual abuse. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. “I never thought this would become a specialty for me,” Bryan said. “But once I handled my first case involving a child, I realized how critical it was that someone do this right, and do it with compassion.” Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . Throughout his career, Bryan led numerous investigations involving minors, often uncovering trauma that had been hidden within trusted circles. Assaults On Kids, Intervention and Investigations, His Experience. “The majority of these assaults come from someone the child knows, a family member, a coach, a caretaker,” he explained. “That betrayal adds another layer of trauma, and it complicates the investigation.” Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. Bryan detailed two specific cases that he believes the news media often misrepresents, stories that don't make for comfortable headlines, but are sadly common. According to Bryan, intervention needs to happen early, and the focus should always be on the victims, not sensationalism. “One of the hardest parts was facing attacks, not just from suspects, but sometimes from their families, who refused to believe the victim. That's something the public rarely sees,” he noted. “But these kids... they needed someone to believe them.” The emotional toll of these cases wasn't lost on Bryan. Assaults On Kids, Intervention and Investigations, His Experience. You can listen to his stories and interview on our website for free in addition to platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. “You try to leave the job at the office, but when a kid looks you in the eye and says what happened to them, that stays with you. You carry that forever.” He emphasized that part of his duty wasn't just about arrests and convictions, it was about intervention, providing hope and healing to children and families whose lives had been shattered. Child sexual abuse is alarmingly prevalent. According to national statistics, every 68 seconds an American is sexually assaulted, and the vast majority of abused children, up to 93% that were sexually assaulted knew their abuser. Despite that, only 25 out of every 1,000 perpetrators are ever imprisoned. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms. “People need to understand the scale of the problem,” Bryan stressed. “We're talking about hundreds of thousands of victims. And these kids often don't have a voice, so we have to be that voice.” Assaults On Kids, Intervention and Investigations, His Experience. In Georgia, initiatives like the Keeping Kids Safe Campaign are part of an ongoing effort to provide intervention services to victims. Organizations like the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) serve over 900 children each year, offering forensic interviews, trauma-informed therapy, and family support. “What GCCA does is incredible,” Bryan said. “They're rebuilding lives.” Lowndes County, where Bryan served, is located near the Florida border and is part of the Valdosta metropolitan area. Known for its strong community ties and rich history, the Sheriff's Office there operates with a mission rooted in justice, dignity, and community service. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. “We were always taught to serve with integrity. To protect the innocent. That mission became very real when dealing with kids who had been assaulted.” Since retiring from law enforcement, Bryan has founded LEMS.Online, a company dedicated to modernizing law enforcement services. LEMS provides POST training, evidence room audits, and even duty-ready firearms and suppressors. The organization also offers a free training record management system for Georgia POST instructors, streamlining and improving how agencies track training and compliance. Assaults On Kids, Intervention and Investigations, His Experience. “It's about giving back,” he said. “My time as a cop taught me that law enforcement needs the right tools and training. LEMS is how I continue to serve, just in a different way.” His podcast episode dives deep into both the practical and emotional challenges of working cases involving the assaults on kids, and the vital role law enforcement plays in these investigations. His candid storytelling, combined with years of fieldwork, make it a must-listen for anyone interested in the reality behind the badge. You can listen to the full conversation now on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast Websitem, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and be sure to follow the ongoing discussion across Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn. Assaults On Kids, Intervention and Investigations, His Experience. Bryan's story is more than just a recount of a cop's experience, it's a sobering reminder of the work that still needs to be done to protect the most vulnerable among us.
ABOUT RICHARD LEMS:Richard's LinkedInProfile: linkedin.com/in/richard-lems-4235082aWebsite: rituals.com (Company)Email: richard.lems@rituals.comSHOW INTROAbout 12 years ago, I was visiting Amsterdam and spent days wandering the city, eating stroop waffles, pancakes, drinking coffee and shopping along the Kalverstraat. The Kalverstraat is one of the main shopping streets in the city center of Amsterdam. It's more like an outdoor pedestrian mall jammed with the retail stores of well-known international and home-grown Dutch brands as well as independent retailers. My preferred approach to exploring an unknown city is generally given to wander about, sometimes down alleys, looking through fences or over walls into hidden courtyards. It's mostly about discovery. Looking for things that other tourists may not find and connecting to the local nature of a place.I remember coming to a corner and an open door invited me into a store I was unfamiliar with. Crossing the threshold, I stepped away from the rush of the crowd and entered into to another world. It looked homey. Warm and cozy.Perimeter wall units were illuminated with colorful frames, each identifying a specific category of merchandise. And…it smelled great!I didn't know the Rituals brand but my first experience, 12 plus years ago, is easy to recall with a vivid sensory-based memory.I liked the store's name, since I have had a fascination with the idea of rituals, what they mean, how they are enacted, whether participating directly in them versus being an observer had any effect on their relevance. I spent the next half hour sampling fragrances, learning about ancient rituals upon which the products were based, the products' ingredients and how they had an effect on our body and mind. And of course, I bought bags of products home. The smell of spray bottles that stayed in a bathroom drawer for a while after they were emptied, brought me back to the street corner, the city of Amsterdam, the food and the friends I met while there. From a neuroscientific point to view, scent is deeply connected to memories. Scents can quickly affect mood. That's why realtors suggest that baking cookies or bread when you are about to show your home is a good thing; because it activates emotions and nostalgic memories that make people feel more relaxed and draw a connection to a sense of comfort and security. These are all good feelings to engender when trying to sell your home. It's an interesting connection – the body and the home. More interesting still that a company like Rituals has made the connection between the body, the home and cosmetics. And in doing so, they have tapped into the basic idea that good retailing isn't just about the products, or services, but in the end about emotions.“If you can get to the emotions,” says Richard Lems, the Director of Format and Design for Rituals, you create fans rather than just customers. While everyone else was following the ‘pile ‘em high and watch ‘em fly' mentality to retailing years ago, Rituals was working to sell emotion. Engendering feelings that were attached to ancient stories, the practices of ayruveda, or a hammam, or the rituals of Sakura have become the experiential foundation for Rituals stores. Behind every product there is a deeper meaning, a deeper story based on ancient traditions and they are made contemporary with Western technologies. For Lems, there is no disconnect between the home and the body. You know that expression ‘Home is where your heart is”? Well, for Rituals, home, body, heart, soul are all connected. They are in a reciprocal feedback loop, interconnected and interdependent. One influences the other.Like with my strategy of discovering a city, Rituals believes that the discovery process leads customer experiences in their stores. It may start from the street, lead to a cup of tea and hand washing to exploring their assortment. Richard Lems explains that Rituals “innovation is on a very high level.” They are constantly innovating with new products and experiences like meditation chambers in their new flagship store in Amsterdam - built 100 meters away from the store I stumbled upon years ago.And while the Rituals brand has a robust social platform on on-line store that fulfills orders all over the world, Lems believes that the only way to really feel them, smell them, and touch them is in store. The Rituals store is the nexus of ancient stories and practices, products and people. It is the physical touchpoint where product presentation and the hospitality of store associates brings the narratives to life. The Space Show Summer Series: Lunar Science In the Artemis Era — Episode 03 The Space Show podcast is on its annual summer hiatus for six weeks. In its place, we are pleased to present our Summer Series: Lunar Science In the Artemis Era. This episode features CLPS, LunaH-Map, Lunar Trailblazer, Halos, LEMS, VIPER, AEGIS and Moonba Microrover with: * Craig Hargrove * Bethany Ehlmann * John Keller * Mehdi Benna * Anthony Colaprete * Daniel Moriarty * Mike Barker. Lunar Science In the Artemis Era is a series which focuses attention on the science to be done at the Moon by both robotic missions and the crewed Artemis missions. These programs are based on a series of NASA workshops held during 2020, 2021 and 2022 in which the scientific knowledge gaps that need to be filled to achieve the Artemis human missions to the Moon, and the scientific investigations that scientists desire to be done both on the Moon and in the vicinity of the Moon, were discussed. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the participants were talking from their homes and offices, and so the audio quality varies considerably. Some relevant talks were not included because the audio was so dreadful as to make them unlistenable.
Cultuurpers bestaat dankzij donaties. There's a common debate going on in many of our heads when it comes to committments. Whether it's meeting a friend for coffee, or going to a concert with a group, we have to decide if we can make it. If we decide not to go or even worse, cancel at the last minute, is it for a legit reason or are we just making an excuse? Ultimately that's for you to decide for yourself... When Katie Lloyd's son was diagnosed with a rare, lifethreatning disease, she began to notice that people around her reacting to the news in some unintentionallyinsensitive ways. When we witness someone going through a difficult situation, our first impulse is to say something encouraging: "Chin up!" "The Sun will come out tomorrow". However, responses such as this can be counterproductive because they lack empathy and understanding. Instead, perhaps we should simply acknowledge the difficulty and "hold space for each other." The Dudes agree that this is a topic that we can all learn from. This week we will discuss Lambert Eaton Syndrome with Latasha Densie DeRamus. Tasha is 42yrs old, living in Tampa, Fl. with her a daughter Naomi, and a fur baby name Foxy who is 7. Besides Lambert-Eaton, Tasha also deals with Gastroparesis, non-intractable vomiting with nausea, is underweight due to inadequate caloric intake and acute bronchitis. Lambert-Eaton syndrome, also known as Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome, is a condition in which the immune system attacks the neuromuscular junctions — the areas where your nerves and muscles connect. Normally, your nerve cells pass signals along to your muscle cells. These signals help your muscles move. Because Lambert-Eaton syndrome affects the way your nerves and muscles communicate, making it difficult to move your muscles as you normally would. (credits Johns Hopkins https://bit.ly/3TONh2J)
In December 2019, Tescha left her job of 16 years as a physician's assistant in the emergency room after facing difficulties with her recently diagnosed Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS), a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the connection between nerves and muscle cells. While living at home, Tescha saw an opportunity to reinvent herself with the support of her family and her newly discovered love of woodworking. Even though LEMS was a part of her life, she proved it would not control her life.

What is the most important step that all athletes and parents must take to get recruited to college? I know a lot of athletes in our community want to embark on this journey. And there are a lot of sports moms out there who are thinking, "I don't even know where to start in this process," and it can be overwhelming. But there are steps you can take to get the process right.Together with Tonya Sims, we'll discuss when athletes should start applying. What's the deal with recruiting platforms? How important is the FILM — what should be included in it? And resources for parents to know how they can continue to set their athlete up for success on this recruiting journey.Tonya Sims is a former division one student-athlete. She assists parents in getting their children recruited by college coaches. She is the founder of the Upper-Level Sports Academy, and she works with our dream team athletes, our small group coaching program that helps athletes get recruited. Tonya is extremely knowledgeable in this area, as well as for parents dealing with the initial steps in connecting with college coaches. So, prepare your notes because here are some recruiting tips for parents who are just starting! The top three things to consider during the recruiting process are: (1) determining where your child would fit best. (2) Academics. (3) Establishing contacts with college coaches.Recruiting begins at a young age.Rather than using these recruiting platforms, it is preferable to do the work yourself.Having a highlight reel or competition film has become important because it may be the first thing that college coaches look at right now.Tonya's website can be found at www.upperlevelsportsacademy.com. And if you go to that website, you'll find a link to her Facebook group. It's a free organization called college recruiting secrets for athletes' parents. Her website also offers three freebies. (1) The college recruiting secrets cheat sheet, in which she reveals nine secrets of the college recruiting process; and (2) The perfect email guide, which is a step-by-step guide that explains what you need to write in an email to a college coach. (3) And the Twitter recruitment checklist, which will assist your daughter in getting started on Twitter to reach out to college coaches.Tonya will be joining our sports LEMS inner circle in the coming month. And she'll be addressing a lot more questions from mothers of athletes in our program. That's it! Your athlete may aspire to compete at the next level. And if she's just starting, make sure to assist her with these tasks. As mothers, you can help your children achieve their goals and pursue their passions.**********Helpful Links:Hang out with Tonya Sims and learn more about working with her!Visit our podcast website for more on this episodeDownload the free resources we've created for youJoin us inside our FREE Facebook Group - The Elite Competitor Society - for weekly Q&A, periodic trainings and challenges, and the support of an amazing community of moms, coaches, and the men who partner with us!The BEST way to help us spread the word and get this information into the hands of millions of parents, coac**If you're looking for a way to help your athlete daughter come back from mistakes, stop beating herself up and start playing to her potential... without being pushy or worrying about what to say... join our FREE training: www.trainhergame.com**

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message
Theatergroep Jan Vos). --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cultuurpers/message

This episode is packed with interesting nuggets about the benefits and misconceptions about barefoot movement and barefoot shoes. I chat with Mountain Chang, a CPA turned founder of the barefoot shoe company, Carets. Carets makes classy high end dress shoes - think Allen Edmonds - but with barefoot features like a zero drop design and wider toe box. (I don't receive a commission for this: you can use the coupon code 2019hippiecritical for $30 off if you shop at Carets.) In this episode, we talk about... The interesting origins of barefoot movement Benefits of barefoot movement and why barefoot shoes exist Why the "standard" approach to shoe design - cushioning, heels, space - is not designed for the human foot to have full range of motion. (Explains why higher heels are especially bad for the foot - not just for women.) What happened to the lean, healthy and balanced humans that walked the plains of Africa? Why do we now spend so much time and effort trying to get balanced? And most of all, could we just simply walk it all off? This episode of Gone Workabout features JJ (Johnathan Jones) who is considered, thoughtful and challenging - a Pilates instructor, a Yoga teacher and I'd call him a lifelong minimalist. We explore his youth in the UK, the back injury which led him to Pilates and later Yoga, the value of walking, the joy of downsizing your stuff and most importantly, how a perfectly sane chap and his cat ended up living in a van. Topics include; Back pain, depression, mindfulness, Pilates, Yoga, walking, barefoot shoes, Brexit, meditation, van life and spirituality in the modern world. This week’s guest is feminist-topical singer/songwriter Kristin Lems, who will perform one of her classic songs and a new song about Trump (“Like a Duck”). Tune in to learn more about a surprising First Amendment violation halted speedily in Illinois by FFRF constitutional attorney Ryan Jayne. The show includes a first-hand report on the International Conference on Sharia, Segregation & Secularism, a comment about Einstein’s “ungodly” auctioned letter, and a recap of FFRF’s irreverent Winter Solstice displays countering Christian nativity scenes in public forums around the U.S. Outro music includes a selection of songs with lyrics written by the thoroughly secular Ira Gershwin, in honor of his Dec. 6 birthday.

For a change of pace while Annie Laurie and Dan are busy with FFRF’s 40th annual convention, FFRF’s Director of First Impressions Lisa Treu hosts this week’s show featuring music by strong women. Marlene Dietrich, Shelley Segal, Joan Baez, Peggy Seeger, Malvina Reynolds, Kristin Lems, Lena Horne, Ani DiFranco, and more, singing about evolution, equality, the (non)afterlife, peace, Eve, and life as a freethinking woman.
