Was geschah während seiner Haft in Nordkorea? Hey Campers, get away from that poster and over to the fire, we got some stories to tell. This week we tell you about about The Headless Valley of North West Canada where something is hunting prospectors... something that takes the head. We also discuss Otto Warmbier, the American student who was kidnapped by the North Korean Government.
Otto Warmbier's journey to North Korea transformed from an adventurous exploration into a nightmarish ordeal when he was suddenly imprisoned by the regime for the alleged theft of a propaganda poster. He was held captive for over a year without updates to his family, and later released in a dire and unresponsive state. The mysterious and controversial circumstances of his detention ignited a global outcry, demanding justice and accountability. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube for video podcast:https://www.youtube.com/@WickedandGrimYoutube for lifestyle and vlogs: https://www.youtube.com/@WickedLifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/Wicked and Grim is an independent podcast produced by Media Forge Studios, and releases a new episode here every Tuesday.Resources:https://www.gq.com/story/otto-warmbier-north-korea-american-hostage-true-storyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rZkdPXP6H4https://www.cnn.com/2017/06/16/us/otto-warmbier-profile/index.htmlhttps://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/otto-warmbier-returns-from-north-korean-prison-in-a-coma Hosted on Acast.

Zapraszam ! And the story was that he tried to steal a poster... he didn't commit any crime. And if he did, we all committed that crime, because we all had been where we shouldn't have been, säger vännen Sarah MacLaughlin som var med på samma resa. If convicted of this alleged crime what kind of punishment was awaiting Otto Warmbier? Was ist Otto in Nordkorea passiert?

Growing up in an elite DPRK family, Seohyun Lee enjoyed privileges available to few other North Koreans. But that all changed during a study abroad trip to China, when she says a seemingly innocuous question from a taxi driver led to her “waking up from the matrix.” Then when a close friend of hers disappeared, she and her family were forced to escape the country for good. This week, Lee joins the NK News podcast to discuss her life in the DPRK and the many ways in which it has changed since her defection. She talks about her family's connections to China-DPRK trade, the rigid school system, her work as a human rights activist, what she plans to study as the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Otto Warmbier family, and more. Seohyun Lee (@Pyonghattan) is a North Korean defector and human rights advocate who runs the Pyonghattan YouTube channel with her brother Hyun-seung Lee. About the podcast: The North Korea News Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Jacco Zwetsloot (@JaccoZed) exclusively for NK News, covering all things DPRK — from news to extended interviews with leading experts and analysts in the field, along with insight from our very own journalists.

This week is a bit more serious than the past couple weeks, focusing on the unfortunate story of Otto Warmbier and his trip to North Korea. He had his whole life ahead of him, on his way to a successful career in banking. But after being convicted in North Korea for a crime he may or may not have committed, the life he had crumbled. We hope to find as much clarity out of the story as we can to figure out what happened to Otto. This might be our creepiest story yet. It's got nothing to do with women this time, but our last episode provided the perfect segue, and we just couldn't resist this INSANE topic. Otto Warmbier made the fateful decision to study abroad in North Korea. Unfortunately, he paid for this choice with his life. Otto came to North Korea a bright eyed 21 year old full of promise and hope for the future. Through circumstances unknown to us, he left in a vegetative state. Otto was accused by the North Korean government for stealing a propaganda poster, and we can truly say that the punishment did not match the crime. Listen in to hear how vastly different North Korea's justice system is from ours, and why you should never trust a study abroad program with a tagline "we take you to places your mother wouldn't want you to go."

Otto Warmbier was a bright college student with an even brighter future. He was eager to learn about the world beyond the United States and about the people of the world. He booked a trip with a group that advertised tours to "destinations your mother would rather you stayed away from". His trip to the isolated country of North Korea was fun, at first. He wanted to take home a souvenir - little did he know that taking that souvenir would have irreversible repercussions.
Todd and Jetai discuss #OttoWarmbier, #MichaelPeterFay, and #BrittneyGriner, high-profile cases of Americans being held #prisoner in a foreign land. Otto was 21 when he decided to travel to North Korea before starting a study programme in Hong Kong. He loved to travel anyway and he had always been curious about the isolated Asian nation. So, why not just go?When his five-day tour started together with a group of US citizens and other people from other countries, nothing seemed amiss. However, just before he stepped onto the plane to fly back to the States, he was arrested.Life will never be the same for Otto and his family back in the States.Listen now to learn more about this story here at Asia In The Shadows. If you like to support this podcast, make sure to rate and review us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts:Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3rLhGCi Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3ItWvf0 You can also make a one-off donation through this link:https://ko-fi.com/aitspod Also, make sure to follow Asia In The Shadows is on social media:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/aitspod/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/aitspodcast Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/aitspod/ Music Credits:Displaced Memories - David HorowitzCursed House - Sergey CheremisinovDISCLAIMER:The views and opinions expressed by the podcast creators, hosts, and guests do not necessarily reflect the official policy and position of Podcast Network Asia, the hosts of the program or other programs of the network. In this episode, Jake and Jim speak with the UK delegate for the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) to discuss and dispel some misconceptions about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). The KFA is an organization that promotes cultural exchanges and provides education on the DPRK to members in their respective countries. With this in mind, we asked Dermot to explain several overwhelming trends in the US including demonstrably fake news about the DPRK, the DPRK's emphasis on self-defense, self-reliance, and anti-imperialism, and the future of western policy towards Pyongyang. Jake also asks several questions concerning the case of Otto Warmbier and the confusion around his return which serves as an example of how fraught US-DPRK relations truly are. Heads up that Jake and Jim may not fully agree on this subject and it comes out a bit but if you're looking to know more about the DPRK this is still the episode for you.
Having visited North Korea 182 times, Simon Cockerell (General Manager of Koryo Tours) takes us on an incredible journey through The DPRK. Simon has been visiting this fascinating country surrounded by secrecy for over 15 years. In this episode we hear the truth behind rumours and myths about the most mysterious nation in the world, what it is like to see Kim Jong-Un in person, and what happens when you break the rules... This was such a great episode to record and I loved speaking with Simon and it definitely got me keen on visiting North Korea very soon. Maybe I'll even record a podcast there!
