I am delighted to introduce Gordi to the podcast this week. Gordi (born Sophie Peyton) is an Australian singer-songwriter whose music I describe as 'a punch to the heart', in the best way possible. Gordi has had an unbelievable career so far, in a relatively short space of time. Her debut album Reservoir is a particular favourite of mine. Her debut single Can We Work It Out was featured on the Vampire Diaries, her 2017 single Heaven I Know was featured on the tenth season of The Walking Dead. She also co-wrote the theme song for the Oscar-nominated animated short The Mitchell's vs. The Machines. She has toured extensively across the globe and worked with some incredible artists, including Bon Iver, The Tallest Man on Earth, Gang of Youths, Julien Baker, Ben Bohmer, The Blaze, Helado Negro, Loraine James and Maggie Lindemann. We had the pleasure of interviewing Dela Kay over Zoom video!Alt-Pop sensation Dela Kay recently released her latest single, "IDWTAY" (I don't wanna think about you) – an anthem delving into the complexities of modern dating. The track explores the relatable concept of a "situationship," where one decides to move forward with a new connection, yet the lingering thoughts of a past flame persist. It's that powerful girl anthem about moving on but also still leaning into your toxic tendencies, wanting the old person to feel a little jealous while you do it. With a mix of fun, sexiness, and upbeat aggression, "IDWTAY" is poised to become the go-to song for those navigating the delicate balance between moving on and embracing lingering feelings.Dela Kay, who hails from the vibrant music scene of Nashville, TN, describes "IDWTAY" as one of her personal favorites among the new songs she plans to release in 2024. Drawing inspiration from artists such as The Maine, Maggie Lindemann, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne, Dela Kay continues to embrace her Alternative roots while crafting music that is both authentic and edgy. The track follows the success of her previous single, "Let You Down," which has amassed over 125K streams and secured a spot on Shazam's Best New Music Apple Playlist. "Let You Down" explored the intricate dynamics of modern relationships, showcasing Dela Kay's ability to craft songs that resonate with listeners on a deep, emotional level.Dela Kay, who identifies as a songwriter first and foremost, believes that this phase of her career is her most authentic to date. With a commitment to releasing a series of singles throughout 2024, she is determined to leave a lasting impression and make her mark on the music industry with her unique voice and perspective. "I hope to make a lasting impression, making my artistic mark with authenticity and edginess. I think women have a voice and I intend to use mine and don't plan on stopping until I have everyone's attention," passionately expresses Dela Kay.MORE INFO:Hailing from Nashville, TN, music was always a big part of the household for Dela Kay. Seeing the emotional connection a personal song could make fueled her desire to write and to be a storyteller. She studied musical theater at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at the Theatre Conservatory of Roosevelt University, where she grew creatively in many ways, but ultimately felt a strong call back to her roots of songwriting. In 2014, her electro-pop style began to emerge through a collaboration with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, Femke Weidema; which eventually led to her first electro-pop/European-infused single release, “9 out of 10,” as Dela Kay in 2016. Named by Earmilk as an artist who was gifted “with a rich, distinctive vocal style” for her 2018 release of “Make You Mine,” Dela Kay went on to continue releasing singles and garnering hundreds of thousands of streams. In 2019 Dela Kay released “All My Love” through Sony Music, which ended up charting 49 on the top 150 global artist charts for Digital Radio Tracker as well as in the top ten for the Top Independent Charts. The release of “Think About You” shortly followed, which ended up becoming Dela's highest-streamed song to date with almost 800k streams and counting. After a brief hiatus, Dela Kay marked her return by debuting a new, more alternative sound in 2021 with the release of “The Worst Part,” via Wonderland Magazine.Encouraged by the positive feedback, Dela Kay delved deeper into this new sound with the release of "Old News," a collaboration with Ryan Dulude and Rikki Jo Randall. Closing out 2022, Dela Kay touched hearts with "Daughter," a poignant song dedicated to her father. This track marked a departure from her usual upbeat style, embracing a more folk-driven alternative sound, rich in vulnerability and cinematic storytelling. With the release of “Let You Down” in 2023, Dela Kay began her new journey with a wave of fresh content continuing throughout 2024. Looking ahead, Dela Kay plans to embark on a West Coast tour in the spring and summer, bringing her music and unique brand of storytelling to audiences far and wide.We want to hear from you! Maggie Lindemann is a US singer-songwriter. Lindemann is set to tour the US and Australia in support of her debut album, "Suckerpunch."
We had the pleasure of interviewing carbae over Zoom video! carobae, the moniker of Nashville writer, artist and producer, Caroline Baker, released her debut album scared to go to sleep, due out now via too drunk for a tuesday records / STEM. Recent single, “he'll never know” starts off with carobae's acoustic guitar strumming to her aching ethereal vocals speaking to an old lover about past issues that are of no concern now that she's in a better place b/w the soft loud chorus to the very dark “stab my back.” “he'll never know” is completely written and produced by carobae herself. In the simplest form, “he'll never know” is about freedom from who I'd been in past relationships because now I've found someone who doesn't need me to change who I am or my needs for their own. I wrote and produced this song alone a little over two years ago when I had done a lot of personal growth and realization that I deserved to be with someone who didn't treat me like an afterthought or burden. I've been holding onto this song for a while now, and I'm still with who I wrote it about - he's eve playing drums on the record. In the past I've released a good amount of music about one-sided relationships and not feeling like I've been enough, and “he'll never know” coming out now feels like the perfect follow up to those old stories I've told. I think everyone needs to hear that there's love out there that you don't have to bend over backwards for and that you deserve simply by just existing. – carobaescared to go to sleep's tracklist is comprised of the indie pop singer-songwriter confessions from the heart, with candid and colorful songs written and produced solely by carobae as well as songs co-written and co-produced with Brandon Shoop (sophie cates, Quinn XCII), Sean Kennedy (UPSAHL, Role Model, Nessa Barrett), Lauren Mandel (LØLØ, TALK, Maggie Lindemann, MOTHICA), Raziel (Siiickbrain, Poutyface, Slush Puppy) and Megan Redmond (Taylor Edwards, Charlotte Sands, Taela). With this single and prior singles, title track “scared to go to sleep” b/w “if I don't leave the house, “till the day i ___” b/w “every time i close my eyes,” which was included in Consequence's “Song of the Week” and “dead ends/happy endings,” carobae released b-sides that complement the tone and theme of each single. With the release of “scared to go to sleep,” carobae launched new merch items, releasing “behind the song” videos on her YouTube showing fans how she produces and writes each song, and giving fans “restless pages” designed as an activity book to be done while one is listening to the new songs. scared to go to sleep is a shift from carobae's relationship/heartbreak songs fans are familiar with, showing them a new kind of heartbreak sound – heartbreak from the world. carobae first started releasing her own music in 2019 through a handful of EPs starting with songs from 3am, followed by The Longest Year: Part One in 2020 and in 2021 she dropped The Longest Year: Part Two. These early releases earned her raves from NYLON, Ones to Watch and Alternative Press. Along the way, she's garnered over 40 MILLION streams on Spotify, who featured her on a billboard in downtown Nashville and featured her songs on numerous playlists including New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Fresh & Chill, Indie Pop, and more. On this episode of The Adventure of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Maggie Lindemann live at Aftershock, in Sacramento, California. Maggie speaks about her performance at Aftershock and how it went really well but she's always scared performing early in the day as she's scared no one will show up for the early sets. Maggie shares her crazy funny story of how she got to this point which includes her Asia tour and being arrested! Maggie and Pipeman discuss how the audience can always tell when an artist's heart isn't in it and their performing because they have to and not because they want to do because it's what they love to do. Pipeman and Maggie also discuss the behind the scenes and reality for artists of touring and performing at festivals and how it's not all just fun performances and jamming out to other amazing artists. Make sure to follow Maggie on all major social media platforms to stay up to date with new music and announcements! www.instagram.com/maggielindemann/ Don't forget to support Maggie by purchasing some of her awesome merch here: www.maggielindemann.com Pipeman in the Pit is a music and interview segment of The Adventures of Pipeman Radio Show (#pipemanradio) and from The King of All Festivals while on The Pipeman Radio Tour. We had the pleasure of interviewing Maggie Lindemann over Zoom video!Coming less than a month after her first release of 2020, pop favorite Maggie Lindemann is back with a new track in “GASLIGHT! (feat. Siiickbrain).” Maggie also announced the January 22, 2021 release of her debut EP Paranoia, which will arrive via Caroline Records and her own label, swixxzaudio.“’GASLIGHT!’ is a song about taking back the power after someone has tried to gaslight and manipulate you. It’s a big F+++ off to that person….HA! This song was written so quickly and was really a freestyle between myself and Caroline (siiickbrain). This song was super cathartic to write and sing,” says Maggie of the track.“GASLIGHT! (feat. Siiickbrain)” is the continuation of Maggie’s growth as an artist – it’s a pop-infused rock track that lets both artists shine. Its release coincides with the unveiling of new limited edition merchandise on shopmaggielindemann.com. Items include face masks, crop t-shirts, hoodies, t-shirts, trucker hats, dad hats and more.Since her 2015 debut, Maggie Lindemann has quietly emerged as one of pop’s most subversive forces. Without a filter, her uncompromising approach drove the breakout single “Pretty Girl” to platinum status and over 1 billion streams. Maggie followed that success with anthems such as “Obsessed” (64.6 million Spotify streams) and “Couple of Kids” (38.3 million Spotify streams). 2019 capped off with “Friends Go” [feat. Travis Barker], which Ones To Watch described as “an electrifying, almost retro pop track.” 2019 also brought a scare in Malaysia with immigration (she wound up in jail, on house arrest and standing trial twice—due to a visa issue). The experience proved life changing as upon her return to the US, Maggie turned her feelings towards more new music. At that point, she held absolutely nothing back in the studio and created her forthcoming EP.Along the way, she also successfully launched her SWIXXZ clothing line and recently introduced her own podcast, swixxzaudio which helped Maggie combat the lonliness of quarantine. At 22 years of age, Maggie has truly uncovered her voice as a songwriter and injected a fierce dose of honesty regarding anxieties, obsessions, and insecurities into her new material. Her most recent track “Knife Under My Pillow” has already amassed over a million streams since its recent release. Idolator said of the song “Maggie Lindemann makes a welcome return to the New Music Friday lineup with a winning pop/rock experiment.”We want to hear from you!
